Camera wont focus...... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HUAWEI P10 and the camera no longer focus's unless the object is 2 inches from the phone lens.
I sent to back to HUAWEI who said it cant be fixed under warranty as theres damage on the corner of the phone!. They wanted silly money for a repair, and the principle that its under warranty opted me to reject their kind offer of charging for a repair. I paid to get it returned and decided to try repair it myself.
I have all the opening tools to open it, which i did succesfully, had a tinker and realised that the camera lens is easily replaceable.
So i bought a replacement lens, fitted it and the camera app wouldn't open at all. Reset cache - no joy, hardware reset phone - no joy.
I put the original lens back and strangely it started working again!. Only till i restarted the phone then it went back to not focusing again.
I decided the lens i bought must be faulty. So i returned it for a refund.
1 month later i decided to buy another lens and give it another go. Installed the lens but guess what? not focusing again!. Again i erased cache and hardware reset phone - no joy.
Oh and i've tried other third party camera apps such as camera 360..etc - No joy.
Tried removing the cover that goes over the lens to make sure that isn't causing it.- No joy.
There is no damage/scratches/scuffs to the outer glass panel.
99% of the time its blurry, although very very rarely it starts working again. This is with old lens and new lens.
What the heck is causing it to not focus??? Surely its lens related, but it can't be!!!.

[Q] Black dot on camera

Two weeks ago I installed the application "camera360" and since I have a black dot appears in the center of the camera.
I have the device for almost a year and the camera worked Perfect.
I tried to replace Rom, kernel, do a full whip and nothing worked ..
Thought it might be mess so I opened the device, cleaned the lens and of course this is not the problem.
I think this is a software problem, because when I put my finger on the camera lens and remove her off quickly - everything goes white and when the photography goes back the black dot appears.
I even tried to replace the "camera.apk" and it did not work.
Anyone else having this problem? Because it drives me crazy!
Thanks
Hi,
this look like an hardware issue or some dirt got inside the camera lens.
if you already tried replacing camera.apk and re flashed a ROM, next thing i would try is maybe open the device and try to blow with your mouth near the camera, see if the dirt goes away or moves to a different corner. take a closer look also on the lens itself, see if you can see something in it, use a flashlight.

Thx for your comment but as I said, I already open and clean the lens.
To be sure I have done that again, and the black dot still appears at the same place
I have this too, sadly. In my case, only on the front-facing camera. It sucks, but I don't use the front-facing camera much. From my investigation, it does appear to be a hardware defect on the sensor itself.
My problem is on the back camera and its really sucks.
If I will replace the camera itself, it will work out?
someone have an idea?

That says simply that camera 360 is the culprit and who knows what will happen if you change the camera .

Anyones front camera crashing/not working?

So all of a sudden my v10 has starting crashing whenever a program tries to access the front camera including the stock camera application. I am not able to see anything out of the front camera before it crashes. I tried wiping cache and even hard resetting the phone but nothing has fixed it so I'm guessing its a hardware issue. I am trying to avoid sending it to LG due to a couple slight hairline cracks on the screen, it actually cracked under the tempered glass screen protector I had on it from a very small drop while in a obliq case. I am not sure if they will use this against me and tell me I'm **** out of luck and have to pay a crazy amount of money to have it repaired. Also, other than obvious marks someone could accidentally make when dissembling the phone, is there any indicators that tell LG that the phone has been opened up at all? From the dis-assembly videos I have watched it seems as if there's nothing there to indicate it was open or not.

Broken Camera (purple screen)

My rear camera isn't working properly anymore so I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem so if I can confirm the likely culprit. Whenever I use the rear camera the screen is mainly purple and pixelated and I can only just about see the background through it all.
The front (selfie) camera is fine so I'm just thinking about replacing the camera at the back but thought I'd ask around in case anyone knew of any other common problem it could be in case I was barking up the wrong tree.
I tried to upload a picture of what it looked like but couldn't manage it.
I've watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to replace it and I'm happy to have a go but if anyone's got any experience/advice on that too it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

hi,
I had same problem two weeks ago. Suddently the rear camera gone to pink the frontal was good. After the initial panic, I've tried to search internet, on some forums was said to gently push around the rear lens and the camera will show something. Some one says that use this method pushed firmly around the ring and the camera was fixed, some others no.
In my case, pushing around the camera, initially worked for a couple of seconds, then the image was flickering with vertical green lines, noises, and interlaced "grid" grey scan lines like old videogames. then was hardly usable only pushing around the rim for about one minute for take a normal photo. here is the attachments of panic:silly:
I think the camera was damaged by too much overheat that unglued the backplate, and consequentially the use or some hit or light fall may had damaged the flex sensor or the placement lens on the motherboard. In fact in the previous months i had noticed the backplate was moving if poked with fingers on the edges. I mean gently pressed and the back plate was moving. Doing the pressure factory test, it was around 1020,3-1001Millibar on static and changed when pressed on screen or on the back. I had a dbrand skin on the back and due to the heat shrinked and became smaller. I think the overheat was caused by the firmware updates and some app that sucked away the battery in years. Upgrading from Lollipop, twice to MM, to Nougat, in years and then in the last time some flash to MM and then to Nougat again give it the final hit, especially the first time power up after flashing when you have to set everything from scratch.
I sent it in warranty repair, for camera damaged, added the request to swap battery due to duration (because on June the warranty ends ) and to check and fix the IP68 requirements, also noticing very overheat issues.
Now the pressure test is a solid fixed 999,01-999,03Millibar and the feel is more solid in general when handled. If you have luck when Sony repair it, the screen protector on the front if you have applied, won't be touched, only the back.
good luck
So did they just replace the camera module that is plugged in to the top at the back? (obviously apart from battery too).
Your post seems to suggest overheat which caused motherboard damage too.
Unless I've read it wrong you're suggesting swapping the camera will fix the problem.
I know I'd obviously need a new back cover too.

Phone Repair - is risky ?

I decided to change camera as it has lost its focus. But some of my local shop say that this Phone can be opened thorugh front ie display. There say 80% changes that display+touch might break. I don't have idea about.
Is it true ? Or my local shop are noobs.

How? I'm afraid that I breake the screen.
The screen, from info gathered on XDA & around the internet, is notoriously fragile. My X829 needs a new battery, so I bought a battery and a screen replacement kit just in case. I'll let you know how it goes, but I won't be able to do it until later this week, possibly not until the weekend.
Finally got the battery replaced. I DID break the screen though, even after applying heat and taking 20 minutes to slowly pry it off. So I'm glad I bought a replacement screen when I bought the battery. The new screen seems the same but (except the bezels are a different color ?). I'm definitely not a professional phone repair person, and in the past I have replaced already broken screens so I wasn't saving them for re-use.
If you've done a lot of phone repair and you have semi-professional equipment you might be fine, but my advice is to buy a screen too just in case.
I was afraid to i used some cheap repair kit from aliexpress, very big help is small glass swing and something like thin card what u pull between screen and frame. In any cases u can check YT there are planty of tutorials.

Malfunctions due to display protection

After I fixed a display protection glas on the screen, the tablet is getting a black after some minutes and it takes up to three minutes until the tablet is available again. Therefore, I checked the Galaxy Tab S6 manual: There is a hint that covering the light sensor with screen protection can cause problems. My screen protection glas and also the others I found on the market do not have a hole on the place of the light sensor.
Try Alien Surface screen protector for Tab S6. I saw they have both holes on the screen protector.
In my country unfortunately is on pre order for the moment.
Link from my country online shop of alien surface for you to check: https://aliensurface.ro/produs/sams...6-alege_acoperirea_telefoane-ecran_precomanda
I got a pack of 3 glass protector from Amazon and after installing the first one the tablet became very laggy. Saw your post here and the manual does indeed say not to cover any of the front sensors with a protector. These only have a cutout for the camera. So I took it off and the tablet was still super laggy. Decided to install the second protector and do a factory reset. So far the lag seems gone. I won't say it's a permanent solution until I've spent more time with it, but I'll report back if the lag returns or not. As much as I hated doing a factory reset so soon after getting the tablet, if it fixed the problem I'll be happy. But yes, it seems covering the sensors can affect this thing.
EDIT: So far things are still going smoothly today. Have everything restored from the Smart Switch PC program and set back up. Have restarted the tablet a few times just to check even. So it seems the factory reset fixed my problems. Don't know if it matters or not, but just to be sure I did my reset from the recovery mode. So my advice for anyone that runs into issues after installing a screen protector is to back everything up, with your on device cloud options and the Smart Switch PC program imo, then factory reset and you should be good to go.
