Would be great to hear if you ever find something - I've been looking for the same thing for the same reason.

AllShare Cast on non-Samsung devices

I have a Note 10.1 and Note 8 both with AllShare Cast, I have a few other Android devices like an original Note an Tab 2, I'm curious if anyone had successfully used AllShare Cast on a device that doesn't have it installed in a shipping device. It's it as easy as copying an .apk file? Or is there some hardware feature required to run the app?

Many Samsung features and apps are limited to running only on devices with the Touchwiz frameworks. If you can find an apk you can try installing it and see what happens.

My problem is finding the apk. It doesn't announce itself. I was hoping someone else had tried this. XDAers are an experimental bunch.

Any luck? I too am looking to install share cast on my non samsung device.
I tried the above links but I can't get the apk installed.
Please port Allshare cast for non-samsung devices
I am using micromax canvas 2 and samsung smart tv. TV doesn't support any other app but 'allshare cast'.
Please port 'Samsung Allshare cast' for non-samsung devices.

I'm wondering if anyone has been working on this idea? Any progress at all or has it been abandoned completely?

[Q] Cast screen - No option to enable wireless display?

Is there a different way to do this on n9 compared to the check box I would usually find in the display>cast screen area of settings?
I'm trying to cast screen to my LG smart TV.
Thanks for any help!

Screen cast is not working for me either. I can get it to connect to my lg smart tv. Its under advanced wifi settings tab. The tv says it connected but doesn't display the nexus 9's screen.
Silmport doesn't work either, i dont have a mhl cable to test.
I can connect through the advanced settings like you, which I guess shows it can see the tv. Seems odd then that the check box is missing in the cast screen setting.
Thanks for checking...

Maybe Google finally dropped Miracast which was pretty crappy technology.
Chromecast mirroring works fine.
With Chromecast mirroring did you not have to enable the setting? I've not seen how it works as I've been able to share screen on my smart TV on KitKat.

No need to enable anything for Chromecast mirroring. It just shows up.
Short term I have found this app that works great for casting media to my Smart TV.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stefanpledl.localcast
It's called Localcast and has done what I need it to do.

The option is missing for me too. I was hoping to test casting to my Roku 3.
I am Samsung Galaxy J7 with Nadroid 5.1.1, can not find cast screen.

[Q] Throw / screen mirror no sound?

Hey guys,
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to "Throw" function which is mirror casting, and once paired you don't get any sound in the output. I tried this with the Amazon fire stick.
My wife has a nexus 7 2013 with Lollypop, and we have cast of movies off to the chromecast with no problem.
Also I once tried to mirrorcast of the chromecast and it wouldn't pick it up, but the YouTube app would.

I haven't retry it, I'm on a new hotel and let you know.
Back at home I use the function directly to my panasonic TV which has Cast capabilities and worked great.

Apple Remote on Android TV?

Will an Apple TV remote work on android tv (the siri remote)?
I have a Xiaomi MI box and I do not like the remote. I've already set up the mi box.
