After a lot of testing and hours of hard-work, I have developed a Kernel based on the Latest Sources. As the name of the Kernel suggests, the primary focus of the Kernel is Speed and Performance. As a result, I have fine-tuned and optimized this Kernel to Perform in the best possible manner. However, I haven't missed to look into the Battery issues of the phone. A lot of effort has been made to Fix unnecessary Consumption of Battery along with regulated CPU usage. Further, I have worked really hard to include almost all Features and Fixes so as to make my Kernel the most feature-packed All-in-One solution.

Disabled Debug-Info (should reduce the size of the kernel making it lighter).

1. This Kernel only works on Official Stock ROM (Marshmallow) and Nougat Custom ROMs.
Installation Instructions---
1. Before Flashing this Kernel, Download Universal init.d App from Play Store and after Granting Root Permission to the App, Enable Emulation option and Exit the App.
2. To Download the Kernel, head over to the ChangeLogs and Downloads post and select the Version of Kernel you want.
3. To install the Kernel, just flash the .zip using TWRP Recovery.

In Kernel Adiutor's Sound TAB, you'll see 4 Gains. Out of them, currently, only three work, Headphones, Mic and CamCorder. So, if you want your Mic to record your voice while Calling at a higher volume, you can increase the Mic Gain. Similarly, you can increase the Gain of the Ear-Piece (to listen while calling, the other person's voice at a higher volume) and Headphones (to listen to music at a higher volume).

It works perfectly fine here, probably there is something in your device which is preventing deep sleep. Do a clean flash and then flash Velocity Kernel It may resolve u r issue

Kernel Configuration
The TWRP flashable kernel now comes with an Aroma installer, allowing you to choose a configuration you prefer. It also comes with 3 preset options - Stock, Performance, and Battery.
The Stock preset will make the kernel behave exactly as a stock kernel - no turbo mode, CFQ scheduler, stock interactive
If no pre-existing configuration file is found on the phone, (ie - New ROM flash) the ODIN flashable kernel will also have stock behaviour.
Every Aroma option is clearly labelled with an accurate description of what the setting will change. You are free to reflash to change configurations or manually edit the /system/unikernel.prop file that is generated by the installer (and then reboot). If you choose either the performance or custom options and enable Turbo mode, do not post in this thread about poor battery life. Turbo mode costs battery. deal with it

Yeah, to be expected. the defconfig in the kernel sources I used was specific to the international versions only. I will need to download the sources for the T variant (and maybe W8) and examine them for file differences and defconfig differences. gonna take some time. However, i I can build a working one its easy to build 2 simultanoeusly for upload in the future. only takes 5 mins per kernel.

Um. ktoonsez spent hours trying to get the voltage control to actually apply. It was being overridden by touchjizz rom on every boot. I was one of his testers. It took about 4 hours. It wasnt just a copy paste.

that may well be the case. however, as I said previously, the commits on my github from today are on code that has not been released yet. You can see the released kernel with the defconfig v01a commit and comment (last one pushed yesterday)
perhaps im using voltage control sysfs for some internal testing? maybe ill remove it before release? maybe i am going to release it in the future? maybe i would have given credit, as I have everyone else on the *curerntly released* code.
I will not enter into any further discussions with you on this matter. If you wish to report my thread please do go ahead. as it stands right now, i am 100% in compliance with both the stickies at the top of this very thread and XDAs very clear GPL rules.
The OP has not violated the GPL or xda rules by using kernel code from other developers. First because he hasn't released that code as a binary yet, and second he has not squashed the original authorship out of his sources. This satisfies the GPL and xda's rules on giving credit.
It is simply not possible to list all the kernel contributors in the OP...the list is way way way way too long.
If there are any more issues about the GPL, credit, sharing, etc. Please PM me about them.

There is nothing to configure, it should work out of the box
For advanced users, the sysfs paths are

It's only my for my ROM (read the name) and for official lineageos and CAF-based ROMs like halogenos
It may work on derivatives of lineage as such (RR, AICP, etc) but I can't guarantee it

I am using this kernel with RR. I did not see any power efficient improvement.Although everything is running smooth.

Yes, you need to tune it a bit in kernel adiutor
Also that is a "power efficient workqueue", it does nothing by itself if your configuration is set to consume too much battery

In the thread you say that there is pdesire audio. But you are saying now that in the latest build there isnt psidesireaudio?
i was soooo happy to finally see cpu voltage option in the kernel but very disappointed because whatever I do it doesn't change the voltage, beside that I see the same frequency scales displayed once more but with a higher voltage added to each frequency step.

- v2.3 for J5 already includes all the previous things from A5 releases.

Q: My wifi is broken after flash. What to do?
A: Flash latest modem available for your device.
Q: Can`t connect to wifi network. What to do?
A: Reboot the phone, reboot the wifi router/ap, make sure you don`t have mac filtering enabled on ap/router.
Q: MAC adress has changed. What to do?
A: There is nothing you can do. That happens because of newer wifi module, built along with kernel, from the latest sources. If you can`t connect see Q2 above. I won`t change back to legacy wifi modules, at least not now.
Q: Device appears as "unauthorized" in adb and notification to authorize doesn`t appear. What to do?
A: Enter developer options, disable usb debugging, wait 30 seconds and re-enable it. Now you should see the notification to allow debugging.

If you set a different GPU frequency to 720Mhz when the GPU is at 100%, is the Max frequency set or rising to 720 ignoring the set frequency? ?
Finally something interesting for the lands of the J5

I added 50Mhz for some certain scenarios, to step down the freq if the load is small - screen on but idle (i have screen timeout set to 10mins), or screen off and awake (for AOD on the roms that have it-my rom for A5). Anyway i have custom script in ramdisk that bypasses stock init.qcom.post_boot.sh and sets custom loads for all the frequencies, so the device can go down even to 50Mhz, but step up if the load is reached, so it doesn't lag at all.
About gpu - from what i saw it sticks to maximum set (i use kernel adiutor).
I mostly cherry-picked features and fixes, even from your j5(6) kernel [emoji16] since all are based on same soc. This project started as personal kernel, permissive with otg enabled (because A series has OTG disabled by Samsung), and after that decided to add more things and make it public.

You can see the GPU frequency in real time by using these commands in Terminal (PC):

1) The path may be different.
2) The current GPU frequency is the one with the asterisk.
3) Total transictions means the total switches between GPU frequencies.
Try these commands to confirm that the GPU frequency is stuck at 720.
We can bring the current fast charging also on custom roms or even improve the fast charging to support custom mAh and stuff like that. But forcing a battery to charge faster than it's limit can demage and reduce the battery life drastically so I think we will leave it just like that. Greetings

Skies Rom beta is a Note 7 Port rom .. so it is Grace UX not touchwiz ..

I also found something interesting in your code
Referring to the intelli thermal, I do not know why faux124 used a different thermal control for the TSEN8974. I found that version 1 gives some errors in the logcat when I boot up the phone
I also started my kernel for personal use, specifically to be able to use viper4 ? I just needed the kernel to be permissive. And now look where the kernel go

Grace UX is touchwiz based. Non tw roms are lineage, cyanogenmod, or any other that uses AOSP as base.

I removed it from features/changelog since isn`t activated yet. I saw too late in msm8916 defconfig the CONFIG_THERMAL_MONITOR=y so the intelli_thermal isn`t there yet. I can`t even finish the build (lots of errors), and you have errors in logcat ?. You are way far than me. For now i didn`t had time to chase those errors. I`ll look more maybe next week. Anything else interesting in my source? ?

My main objective for this kernel project is to somewhat keep it simple but include a few features that I find useful , it won't be bloated with all the features out there.
I decided to share this kernel (at first it was a personal project ) with the great S5 community. Im a noob at this so don't expect much (lol) , as far as I know this kernel was complied under KLTE but my variant is a KLTEVZW , so my guess any other variant that can run KLTE kernels this should work as well.

Update
V2.0 is now out .
Kernel as been started back off from the ground ( :crying: ) up due to some issues i faced , heck it might start off from scratch again but that time it would be due a switch to a different ( new laptop) workstation.
-sound control was removed due to instabilities from initial Lin15-1 so adding sound control only made it worst ( in my experience)
-a few other stuff are not added back yet but a few thing were added.
- since this is not stable/official release i won't bore you with the details , as always same download link from OP is updated to current release.

I will look into it , ive never heard of wire guard b4 , but it is an interesting feature. Can't say for sure that it will work unless you know of another samsung kernel that already had the support in it ( that would be much helpful ) , but i will take a crack at it and see if it will work and not cause a loss in anyway.:highfive:

It will be difficult to include Wireguard support to any klte kernel atm as it is only available and intended to work on Linux Kernel versions 3.10.y and above.

3.10.x kernels and up? , then sadly it wont be able to be supported.
i guess the only option is if Lineage can support it unless it depends on the kernel aspect as well ,if so then thats a no-go for WireGuard.:crying:

Not sure , since my setup is limited and manually applying the commit for hlte might be a a troublesome task , but none the less i'll give it a shot .

as @kenedielh stated , it will overtime burn(sort of speak)out your device, kill the cpu at one point , also to avoid even more battery drain as Lineage has not fully fix battery drain plus the gpu is at 657mhz compared to stock 578mhz max , also due to past experience testing 3.0ghz its very unstable so keeping max at 2.4ghz is the best course of action in this kernel's case. For example when i was testing Venom Kernel my max cpu freq was always set at 15xxmhz and nothing more and gpu at 657mhz max and between a 100-105 - undervolt ( silicon lottery , your mileage may vary ) .
Also since this is just beta thread im just compiling , testing and sharing builds here , Stable release when ready and very stable/smooth/and power efficient even for gamers like myself , it will be in the Unified section and this beta project will be deleted , think of this as a rough-draft for the main thing to come.( hopefully)

You need to update your lineage to @haggertk's ( taking this opportunity to thank @haggertk ) latest build , i doubt my kernel will work on an old build of lineage since many changes have been made on both kernel and rom sides.

Runs well, undervolting works in this kernel now, thank you! Havent noticed anything else thus far exept undervolt is working which is really nice!

Sorry friends, I made some accidental mistakes while preparing the last build and it makes the modules unaccessible (do anyone noticed?). The download links are now updated with proper builds. If you are not worried about modules, just avoid this message. Otherwise, update to the newly uploaded builds (Please note: there is absolutely no change in the file name).
