I've successfully been using package Disabler Pro on my TMO N8 in conjunction with their PDP Engine.
However I cannot get it to work on my wife's TMO N8. Keep getting an error 102 when I launch PDP Engine on her device. I tried clearing the cache and also obviously made both package Disabler Pro and PDP Engine admin rights.
Any advice? Cheers.

Thing is , I got it to work on one of the Note 8's ( mine ) but not the wife's.
Both TMO versions.

That doesn't make sense, but then I on the other hand am getting a notice to go to a Drive download for PDPE1 but the download doesn't work. Did you do this to get yours working?

I downloaded PDP Engine on mine from the play store, bearing in mind in my N8 it works.
With wife's one I attempted to download it from the link supplied by the developer, which wouldn't download. So just used the one from the play store like I did with mine out to no avail.
The weird thing is , even though it doesn't work. It also shows three system apps disabled already.
I also noticed two instances if PDP Engine installed. Deleted both and installed one only as admin rights together with package disabler pro. To no avail, also cleared cache.

Can't get it to fully work either. I can disable some apps, but it doesn't work on some that I used to be able to disable.

Lol.. All I want to disable is themes, so the themes here on XDA will stick, but it won't let me for some reason. I'm going to have to purchase a different app I guess.

I'm on TMobile as well, something must have changed because on my Note5 it allowed to disable virtually anything I wanted, but on my Note 8 it only works sporadically.
Ok as luck would have it I downloaded Package Disabler Pro again just a few minutes ago, opened it from Play Store and followed the link to download PDPE1 and this time it downloaded the new engine and after enabling Admin on both apps it's working just fine. I had BK Disabler active and all apps disabled showed as disabled in PDP.
My suggestion for those of you that have issues to try it again and let us know.

That's strange I just went in and disabled both theme apks with no problem and themes was gone from settings.

Hmm..it lets me disable the theme store, but the other themes APK. That is just weird

For anyone having issues with this, go to: http://www.packagedisabler.com/owner-app/ and follow the directions for the ADB command.
Package Disabler works for me with the PDP Engine, but I restored my old S8+ to give to the wife and Package Disabler was not working for whatever reason even with PDP Engine, so if memory serves me right (it has been about 3 weeks now), I ran the ADB command and that solved the issue, and no need to install the PDP Engine either.
Package disabler pro no longer working on both our Note 8 devices.
How do I go about getting a refund ?
It's not listed anymore under purchases. Just listed under completed purchases. Google wins, dev wins, consumer loses.
Pretty scummy business practices from Google, they pull an app and tell the customer to suck eggs when they ask for the money back.

Download Airpush Detector, it will identify the app causing the spam, if its an app you like than you can download airpush opt out and the ads will stop.

Thanks! I didn't know what was going on. de-installed the app and hopefully those things will stop showing up.
I have no music dowload app but I got a green plus sign in notification area tonight which lead me to some browser ad that I didn't read. I then downloaded airpush detector which found nothing. I uninstalled that and installed Addons Detector which listed a bunch of apps that I have been using for a while. Has anyone else found what app is causing this? I did update UnNamed ROM this evening and also flashed the newest UnNamed true connection add-on. any ideas? Thanks

Adfree shouldn't do it - the last two like that I got were from live wallpapers I downloaded. Do you have anything like that?

Spam in notifications
I got the notification spam again today: A big green plus sign and when I pulled down, it said something about an unclaimed prize. I clicked on that and the browser opened some prize page that I of course did not click on. It said "Android User Rewards" on the top. I googled "Android User Rewards" and did not find anything that seemed to help.
The url didn't show in firefox but I went to the menu and clicked on "share this page" and I emailed the url to myself. this is what I got:

Stop stealing music, ya'll.
I don't know why Google allows these apps in the market. If I were them, I'd have a full-time team dedicated to nuking these.
Just had the same issue but was able to resolve it
Do not clear the green + ad notification (grrr)
Start uninstalling recently installed apps starting with live wallpapers.
Once you uninstall the guilty app the green + notification will disappear.
Info live wallpaper was the culprit.

I recently installed DLNA players, but am removing them and any other recent installations.
I also started getting the green plus icon notification that takes me to a reward page as of 2-3 days ago. I have screenshot's of the page that comes up, but seems I can't post links till my 8th post.
The top of the page shows a template message that changes slightly. Here's the text

The day of the week and city change, possibly the prizes also.
This morning my phone showed me a gMail notification saying I needed to reenter my password. I checked my gMail account on my PC and found several delivery failure notices to about 10 of my contacts. Looks the same app that shows the notification is now hijacking my email account.
Has anyone found a way to figure out which app is doing this? I'll try the method of uninstalling recently installed apps once the notification comes up.

Anyway, he emailed me an APK file for a free GPS navigator and told me that should work, but that I would have to enable installing apps that didn't come from the market place. I was wondering if someone with the ability to restore their phone if this messes it up or doesn't run properly.

I use Navigon. You download the maps to the phone so you can use it normally without using data. Maps are also broken down by state so you can only download the ones you need.
As far as installing apps from unknown sources, you can install it but make sure that it's compatible for the SGS2. If it's not compatible the phone will also notify you and then you will just uninstall it.
Just because an app doesn't come from the market place, doesn't mean horrible risk and destruction. For the most part, every app on the market is also hosted elsewhere on the internet. And when you install any app your phone will tell you everything the app has access to.
But as to your question I've always liked Maverick for offline maps. Everything that you view is saved to your phone. Plus it's compatible with a wide variety of maps, including all of google's (road, satellite, terrain, ect).
You can download entire areas and as many zoom levels as you want using other software. There's guides you can find online that tell you what to do.
Yes, alot of other map apps do that as well, but I really like how easy it is to use, able to make notes for locations, the compass on it, and how on the map itself shows very smoothly what direction you're facing.

I have been looking into a GPS navigation app that doesn't use data for a while now. I am in the US BTW. Can anyone upload some screenshots from Navigon and Sygic and CoPilot? I am told these are the best 3 but there are so many screenshots on the market I can't even tell which one is actually how it looks when navigating. I would also like to see screenshots of all the menus so I can see if each one has any features or options I may want. Thanks in advance for anyone who uploads screenshots!
I guess it's been awhile since I've used Maverick. Seems google doesn't allow them to use their maps for some reason. Guess I'll be looking for something else myself.

My Navigon and Sygic use data briefly at startup. FC if no data.
Igo is the only one that can start even if I take the sim card off.

I really like how that looks. Do you ever have issues with FC? Is the $40 for this app for the USA just covering the initial download or do you get program and/or map updates? If so, is it for a year or what?

That is one of my favorite features of my Garmin and it seems so basic but I didn't really see it on there in any of the pictures unless I just missed it. Also, I notice your pictures are in portrait, will it work in landscape too?
The data usage isn't really that bad at all from the Google navi. I traveled from Central NJ to Buffalo NY using it and it wasn't bad at all.
I've tried all of them and I like Navigon the best. I still prefer to use standalone garmin so that I don't have to deal with taking out my phone and mounting it everytime I get in the car.

I would need to know actual numbers of data used. I only have the 200 MB per month plan and on average I use about 180 per month. So, I would need to know how many MB it might use for say, an hour trip. Like I said, I only have about 20 MB of wiggle room per month so I doubt data using GPS navigation will work for me.

I am too paranoid to leave my GPS hooked up anyway, I live in an apartment and I couldn't sleep at night if I left my GPS in my car just sitting in the parking lot waiting to be broken into. I live in a safe neighborhood, I just don't trust anyone.
Anyway, whether I am using a GPS or my phone I would be mounting it each time anyway so it would be a non issue. I could just leave the mount hooked up at all times and just stick my phone in there whenever I want to use the GPS navigation.

I do not have issues with FCs with this application. I'm currently on Unnamed 1.3.1 and as you can see from the screenshot, I have Use Internet Connection set to off with no problem. For pricing I suggest you contact them for clarification. I was able to download all the maps I needed but just decided to download the Florida Map. I think the Map automatic updates is another service they offer via the in app shop.
Yes, it shows your current speed and also shows the areas max speed allowed. Yes it does landscape, next time I'm on the road I will take more screenshots and post them.

When I hit Buy it comes back saying "Market Purchase is not available", so I guess for that feature you would have to contact them directly.
1) Will Juice Defender work on this?
2) Probably the most important, when I go to the Google Play market, and I sign on, I can't view the applications I had previously bought for my OLD smartphone. I mean, sure I can go off memory but I can't see any of my "Purchased" apps.
3) How do I make the battery bar display % instead?

Well it's all of them! I just searched Shazam and Soundhound....so once they're searched it says "Purchased", but I can't see that BEFORE I search.
It's not like I remember every I've bought!

I had the same problem coming from a full wipe in the play store.
Sometimes it just takes a little while to refresh which apps you have bought in the store, if it keeps happening send google play an email.
There is a brief delay. They are there. Your phone is no different.

1) i connect my s3 to my pc and open google play on my pc,when i download free apps from google play it sayts it will be downloaded shortly to ur cellphone,but the problem is untill i activate mobile data ie the mobile network connection in my s3 the download doesn't happen,and as i activate it my cellphone network data usage goes up,so is it required to every time have an active mobile network connection or GPRS on to get apps on my s3?even if i download dem from my pc thru play store....

You can't transfer apps across USB from your PC. Applications have to be sent from the Play Store to your phone directly, hence you need to use a connection - do you not have WiFi?

You can't transfer apps across USB from your PC. Applications have to be sent from the Play Store to your phone directly, hence you need to use a connection - do you not have WiFi?

You CAN download apps on PC (from different sources) and copy it to your phone via USB. These apps are .apk files which CAN be installed by simply clicking on them.
Please understand that english is not native for everyone, and people may not be well versed with it as you are.
Of course you can download .apks from other sources, but you can't download apps as APK files from the Play Store on your PC. That was what the OP (well, not OP, but you know what I mean) asked.

Even the most awesome phone can't get rid of the radio, Wifi and bluetooth draining the battery, that's simply a physical fact.
However it has quite a large battery so you might not need to set it too restrictive.
I'd recommend going with the 'Juicedefender Beta' (requires the paid 'Juicedefender Ultimate' for all features) and installing AOSP helper. (Requires root)
Do a NANDROID backup as advised but everything should go pretty well.
I've found the following Setup to be excellt while not hindering the least bit with my interactions:
- Set Juidedefender NOT to disable data and NOT to disable sync.
- It should auto-manage Wifi (requires a few days of training)
- It should drop to 2G after 5 minutes of inactivity
- It should restore 3G on screen-on
As a plus you can configure Juicedefender to handle brightness since through it's overlay it can (similarly to Screen Filter) go well below minimum AMOLED brightness which is far too bright at nighttime.
As for SetCPU, I'm running Siyah with only minor modifications to the frequencies. My phone neither likes overclocking nor undervolting but it's awesome as-is
I'm unable to find a way to utilize HTC's Voice Recorder app. It doesn't display in my usable apps list, but does display in the list of all installed apps and even shows up in system/app. I frequently used it on my original Dinc, and can't overwrite it or reinstall it from package without root. Does anyone have the ability to use it or have an idea for me to fix this without a factory reset?

mine's not showing in app draw either

Go to Settings -> Apps -> All tab and look for Voice Recorder. It shows up on my phone as taking up 0.00B, meaning it's not installed. When I use my file manager to look at the system/app folder, it shows HtcSoundRecorder.apk as taking up 307.00K, meaning the app exists and should be installed on first initialization, but it's not.

Lol. Yeah, I rooted my Dinc soon after it got Froyo, so for almost the last 2 years I've been able to install what I want when I want, and I definitely miss that. The few people who rooted this phone before they took the ability away from us don't seem to be hanging around the forums much. I've got questions and comments posted on several of the sub-forums and few have replies.

You can get it to work through the "Notes" app. Voice Recorder is Hidden from the app drawer because it is bundled with Notes. Kinda like Navigation is bundled with Maps, but at least you can go straight to Navigation if you want. You need to be rooted to edit the default.xml to un-hide apps like Mirror, Task Manager, Car, Dock, Voice Recorder, etc.
P.S. it says 0.00 because you haven't ever used it before.

You are quite correct. You have to manually go and find the audio file it saves in 'sdcard/.data/HtcNotes' It doesn't show up in the Music player, at least without a reboot. Clicking on it in my file explorer, it plays in the Music app, though. There are several applications/shortcuts hidden by default.
Voice Recorder, Camcorder, Voice Dialer, Mirror, Polaris Office, among others.

Editing default.xml and removing the lines as per the post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19800023&postcount=7 ) resulted in hidden apps still not showing; also checked the rezound forum ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418785 ) and there was still an issue of them not showing

If you change launchers the hidden apps show up. I'm running nova launcher and they're there.

How to Apply Mod
If you have Xposed app installed you don't need to remove it
Just be sure to disable/uncheck the Google Wallet Root and Region Check Remover in the Modules section of the app if you have it installed
You DON'T need to "Reset" your current Google Wallet in the app if you have any installed
Just "Force Stop" the Wallet app (in the Application manager section on your device)
Then "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data" on Wallet app (in the Application manager section on your device)
Using Root Explorer, delete all traces of the Wallet app from both locations /system/app/ and /data/app/
It could be called com.google.android.apps.wallet.apk or similar or could be called Wallet.apk as well so check for both
Then reboot your device right after this is done
Flash the one of the attached zip files I have in this post using your custom recovery
Once you boot back into Android, just open the Wallet app and set everything up, and setup Tap and Pay but wait till it finishes and says it is ready
Check what "Tap and Pay" says in "About" section of the app and then you can close Google Wallet and should be all set

Transaction Process
When you're ready to pay with Google Wallet DON'T open the app at all
Just unlock your device to the home screen and tap it on the POS system in the store and the app will launch on its own
This should ask you for a PIN now, just enter your PIN and it should authorize the transaction
Confirm the transaction went through by a receipt getting printed
It might ask you to tap the device or enter the PIN one more time just in case so don't worry if it does as long as you have the receipt

You can (that's the way I've been doing it on the old version) but I'm just mentioning this proper way because that's the same way Google mentions how to do in the Wallet app itself if you look up the "help" on how to tap and pay in the app. It could work either way though but I recommend trying my/official way first for testing before trying opening the app first and then paying.
Deleted the test zip and downloaded the new TW zip posted in the OP. Initial set up went smooth. Going to try to make a purchase tomorrow and report back on my findings. Running Hyperdrive RLS9.1 with KToonz kernel.

Please also note that the TW zip I have now is the same as Test-2 zip was before in case anyone is already running this version there's no need to rerun this method again.
I installed eclipse 2.0 today. I installed the test 2 zip from prior thread. I heard it works on this ROM. I did only have a battery for percentage of 8 when I tried this but it didn't do a damn thing at the terminal. Didn't vibrate or anything. Does it not work past a percentage? What's the minimal battery it needs.

I couldn't even setup tap to pay when i was at 9% FYI (it straight up told me I have to charge the device). So that could very well be why. My guess is minimum either 10% or 15%. I would just do it on 25%+ just to be sure though.

Will try again. I am currently speaking with a user of eclipse who found this new wallet to work perfectly fine. It didn't even vibrate for me which was odd but then I looked at my phone and it said that I had 8 percent left. So I'll try tomorrow with a little more juice. All this flashing and modding has my baby tired!

May be slightly off topic but has anyone actually called customer service to verify their identity? If so, what was the process like? Types of questions, how long did it take approximately, what do they need/require from you as far as documentation? I'm assuming you're just dictating to them the personal info that they give you the option of scanning (ss#, a bill of some sort and a DL # or something?)

I get that too before i did the v2 one. But now i get that the tap to pay is being set up and should be done in a few minutes. Been like that for hours. Any fix/
I wanted to share my experience with wallet mod on Beans build6 Me7. I finally found a store with a pay pass that does work. The cashier scanned my stuff and when I went to pay wallet beeped and then came up and said processing transactions. It proceeded to say waiting on cashier to approve. I ask the cashier if it processed and she said no. I asked her to try it again and this time try credit. I tapped the phone and nothing happened this time.
I just wanted to share this and hopefully this gets usone step closer to figuring this thing out.

Cross them tight. So many of us are having issues with it and some aren't. I wish there was a fool proof method of having this work. Believe me I've flashed 3 roms in the past few days and reflashed eclipse four times already clean to try and get it to work.
I even went as far as going to wallet.google.com and disabling all of my devices and setting up from scratch. Don't know why my info won't go to the reader. I certainly see that the phone detects a reader because that's what it says, but after that it says that my transaction may not have gone through. Best of luck, hopefully we can all have a concrete version that'll work on every phone and every rom, but for now I'll stick with the old mod.
Seriously Verizon needs to quit it with that Isis bull**** and let us use wallet.

What kernel are you using? I'm running ktoonz kernel and I get all the way to the transaction summation screen.
When I was on darkslide rom and using elite kernel, old wallet apk worked. I'm wondering if this is kernel related. Anyone have Hyperdrive 9.1 installed and runnite elite kernel and is willing to give the new wallet apk a try?

yea i keep getting the same message to when i try to use the NFC, i can install no problem but when i try to use the NFC for payment it says "reader detected. your last tap may not have been successful" . ive even held it there for like 15 secs and still not working. Anyone else getting this when trying to use the NFC for payment using google wallet v2 ?
