[GUIDE][OLD][CANADIAN] Samsung Pay Workaround - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

As you might have been aware, there have been some trouble adding cards in our Canadian Note8. Follow the steps below to get spay back!
Disclaimer:
1. This does not add support for other banks. Only CIBC for now.
2. Knox need to be at 0x0.
3. Tested on Note8 Telus (N950W) and International Note8 (N950F/DS)
Steps:
0. (Optional) Register here. Go to the link sent in the email.
1. Download the framework and base APKs.
2. Install in that order. Replace if installation already exists.
3. Do not update Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay framework from Galaxy Store before activating spay and adding at least one card. You can update later and it works fine.
4. Arsenal.
5. Viola you have a working SPAY!

*THREAD NO LONGER MAINTAINED DUE TO OFFICIAL RELEASE BY SAMSUNG

Didn't work for me because I had already tried installing it that way. Couldn't install the framework because I have a newer or equal version already and i can't uninstall it (won't let me). Meh I guess I'm stuck with Android pay until then. At least I have Samsung pay on my gear S3 for now

I have used this method on my friend's note8 from bell. Also, I'm regularly using it on my international note8 FD/S variant

Not working for me either. Keep getting registration failed message for my CIBC Visa card?

I know. He seems to be the only one who got it to work. I reached out to CIBC and they said the Note 8 was not compatible.

Here is the proof of it working. When I called to activate the cards, the rep actually confirmed my phone was a note 8. A server issue maybe?

Thanks. I'll call CIBC and see what they say.

I was able to add my CIBC card on the S3 Frontier, LTE USA version.
for zip code, I entered 00000
You can always contact CIBC if support is needed, they can activate it on their end too.

I called CIBC and they were unable to help. The only solution they had for me was to try to send me a new card. I just cancelled it. Can't be bothered tbh...

It's officially out today for the Note 8. CIBC, Scotia Bank and Murican Express

Can someone please post an apk for the Canadian version of this new release?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B00KjJ3CngGqdjFJeFRmeHhlUTg/view?usp=drivesdk

I can't seem to get the Canadian variant of Samsung pay to load up on my device. I tried installing the framework and apk posted above. I bought my note 8 from the states and that's probably what's happening, not sure how to fix it.
It keeps defaulting to the US version where I can see all the US stores and banks. It works when I put in my Scotiabank card so I'm not sure what's going on.

On Bell, couldn't get it to download samsung pay and this method didnt work either. Uninstalled the samsung pay main apk a few days ago but was surprised to see samsung pay in the galaxy appstore today. Downloaded it through there and it worked perfectly now.

I can't seem to install the package it says package appears to be corrupt. I have the Singapore version and am on bell.

[Q] Buying TMO S5 full-retail without a TMO account?

Has anyone here ever walked into a TMO store and bought their Galaxy phone outright? Without having a TMO account/phone number?
I'm on ATT and keeping my ATT account. And want to buy a TMO S5. So far it appears that the TMO store is the only place in the world that is selling a TMO S5.
So, what kind of hassles should I expect when I go to buy it? Or will it be an easy experience?
Also, just to confirm, that phone WILL be under warranty, right?!
Won't the Costco kiosks sell the tmo s5 outright?

Yes, you can buy a TMO phone without an account... in theory. In practice, you'll find crooked store managers in big cities like NYC and LA will try to tell you the phones are only sold with a contract, LOL. In most places, you shouldn't have a problem - just tell them you're buying it as a gift for someone else, so you can't activate it in store.
The Samsung warranty will be valid, of course, and you can probably return it to T-Mobile within their normal refund period.

No hassle and that is exactly what they did. Just tried to get me to switch to T Mobile. But no hassle about the phone. Was told initially the cost would be $689 + tax since i was a non T Mobile account holder. But, it rang up for $660. You will have to get the phone unlocked to work on AT&T which is no issue. Mine is working great once I manually updated the APN settings.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip on the $689 thing.
I think my only [tmo phone on att] concern is getting access to updated AT&T modem files in the future.
Though I'm sure someone will eventually yank the modems from firmware and present it as a flashable file.

You need to have a SIM that supports ISIS. My old T-Mobile microSIM wasn't any good for ISIS, they had to give me a new one. Maybe you need a newer AT&T SIM?

Nope. LTE will not work until you update the APN, but once you do all is fine. In fact, you get more. Download booster is not disabled.

Are you using an old SIM card? This was posted over in AT&T subforum:
cloudraker said:
Not sure if this is the right place but this post is just to inform people of what i learned the hard way today.
There are new SIM cards, they should come shipped with your phone. If you are like me, you just toss your old card in and go with it. I was unable to get LTE with it, but i didnt know that was the issue. I went to the store, they gave me a new SIM to try, and the same thing. The manager got involved and when she looked at the SIM she said it wasnt right. Apparently, the new SIM cards have grey and purple on them in one of the corners. Not 100% what it is but one of the guys said it had something to do with ISIS.
Anyways, long story short if you are getting 4g in the notification, but not LTE and you ,know you are in an LTE area, make sure you are using one of the new SIM cards, it is apparently a requirement because as soon as we put one in, i was good to go.

Weird. I may have to try this out....
Yeah, I just looked at the SIM that came with my AT&T S5. It's got grey/purple on the corner.
My S4 SIM does not have those colors.
Metro PCS has the S5 with no contract and unlocked for 649.99 at Best Buy and the Metro PCS stores. I am not at home now but I believe that this is the T-Mobile S5. Metro PCS is now owned by T-Moblile and their phones are supposed to work on the T-Mobile network. If this is the same phone it should work on ATTsince it has should have the T-Mobile and ATT bands. Does anyone know this for sure? Sorry but since I am not near a Best Buy or Metro PCS location I can't check it out.

Buying a Note 8 Duos SM-N9500 256GB from wondamobile.com

Here in Sweden we officially only have the 64 GB SM-N950F and FD versions available, but since I want masses of storage AND dual SIM cards I decided to go for the Hong Kong version of the SM-N9500 via http://wondamobile.com. In case anyone else is considering doing the same, I thought I would contribute my experience in detail.
TL, DR: Wonda Mobile have been great, they have answered my e-mails promptly and paid the import customs for me very quickly, but I haven't yet tried the phone. (Opening it on Xmas Day.)
I ordered the phone on a Wednesday evening, it arrived the following Monday.
They informed me in an order confirmation e-mail that they would pay any customs charges added. When I received a payment link from DHL, I sent it to Wonda Mobile and they quickly paid it for me.
The phone came with a UK/HK plug, not Euro / F-type sadly. It would have been great if they switched the plug to match the customer’s country of residence. But I was prepared beforehand to keep using some of my current Note 4 chargers (which provide the same amps and volts) with new USB-C cables.
The seal on the box had been cut open. Everything seemed untouched though, so I didn't understand why it had been opened. When I asked Wonda Mobile about it they replied: “Most of our products will unseal for quality check before ship. And it is 100% brand new.”
I started up the phone quickly to check that it was factory reset and the setup guide was already in English. Does anyone know if English is the default in Hong Kong?
My intention is to update this thread when I have tried the phone out. Primarily I'm curious about how/if Samsung Pay will work here in Sweden.
I have the same phone ... Samsung Pay doesn't work here in the UK. I think it will only work in Hong Kong. Enjoy your phone ... it's a great piece of kit!
Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
From what I know Sam pay will only work if the bank you use has made an agreement with your bank. In UK I don't think they have any agreement yet as I was unable to use it and when I looked into it they only have less then 10 banks in their scheme. It said on their website that they are working on getting more banks to join Sam pay. Hope they get the UK banks to sign up quick.
I doubt it will work in Sweden yet or anywhere else in Scandinavia.
Thanks for the replies.
Regarding Samsung Pay, I have yet to try it out IRL, but I have added my debit card and it seems to be setup properly. Here in Sweden, Samsung Pay actually seems to have come quite a long way. Several of the major banks support it, including mine (Swedbank), and supposedly nearly all card transaction machines have support for it too. The setup was straight forward and I haven't had to do anything special to get it to work. (But again, I haven't actually tried to use it to pay yet.)
Overall, I'm very pleased with the phone so far. But setting it up can be a little overwhelming. There are so many options and features, and it takes a lot of energy to make informed decisions on all the options.
The phone seems to have come with a full set of languages available. The Swedish language is fine, but has some rough edges here and there. For some reason, the phone came with Facebook and Word, Excel and Powerpoint apps pre-installed and they cannot be (easily) uninstalled, so I have disabled them for now.
Since the phone came with a UK plug I have ordered a EURO type Samsung USB C charger, as well as two Belkin 2 metre USB 2.0 USB A to USB C cables. I hope the latter will be able to deliver full power from the adaptive fast chargers (9V & 1.67A).
I asked for a Rhinoshield Crashguard for Xmas, so that's what I'm using for protection at the moment. I've also got a DBrand black dragon skin for the back which I haven't applied yet. (I'm still very much enjoying the ocean blue back colour.)
I used Sam Pay today and it worked fine!
That's awesome. Sounds like you made a good decision with the N9500. You got all the features you want and Samsung Pay works natively.
I'm jealous of the 256GB of storage, but I love my black N950U. These are amazing devices for sure.
I bought the 128gb version and tried SamPay today. Worked a treat!
Still a bit gutted that the region can't be changed to UK for the offers and loyalty cards but hey, 128gb blue

Samsung Pay not working on Tmobile S9+

I bought mine from Samsung.com and noticed that it says "Unlocked by Samsung" on the box. I don't know if that means the device isn't actually a Tmobile unit though. Anyways, Samsung Pay doesn't work for me. When I install it from Okay I Store, it says this device isn't compatible. When I install it from the Galaxy App store, it tells me a new update is available and the new features are "Brand new UX" and when I press OK, it just closes the app. Is it just because the phone isn't officially released yet or is it a software issue? Thanks.
If it says unlocked by Samsung you do not have the TMobile version.

Mine is SMG965U1ZKAX. I ordered a T-Mobile Midnight Black S9+ From Samsung.com. Everything about it seems like it's an unlocked model. I don't even get the T-Mobile splash screen when I reboot the phone. If it really is the unlocked version, I'm guessing that model hasn't been updated to support Samsung Pay yet. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I got the unlocked version instead of the T-Mobile version.
I went back to my order receipt/emails and checked to make sure I even ordered the T-Mobile model. Turns out, it's the Unlocked model. I know for a fact I chose the T-Mobile option but I guess not. Was the Unlocked S8+ compatible with Samsung Pay?
If you do not have a T-Mobile folder with T-Mobile apps on your phone, it means is not from T-Mobile.

What doesn't work? My app launches and it allows me to sign in and add a card. I have not tried to use it as of yet. My phone is unlocked Coral Blue and has a Verizon SIM in it. Here's a link to a screen shot I took of the issue. It says Not compatible. It only shows this if I download from the Play Store.
https://imgur.com/KPwoDl9
I get this when I install from Galaxy Apps. When I press the OK or Cancel button, the Samsung pay just force closes. There's no updates for Samsung Pay in the Galaxy App store or the Play Store either.
https://imgur.com/NtTBTZG
I did get a software update this morning which I installed, but Samsung Pay still gives me the same errors. I called Samsung Pay Support a few hours ago and the guy basically said it's a known issue with the S9 and S9+ and that there should be an update pushed out "Soon" that'll fix it. Other than a factory reset, I think my only option is to wait. I'd rather not reset my phone unless I absolutely have to because I hate getting things set up again, lol.
Edit: I should probably add, I can't even set up Samsung Pay. I get those error messages any time I try to launch the app.
There's an update in the Galaxy App store and it's working for me now. Another user on reddit let me know about it.

Hello compadre,
I have the same problem, I just bought an imported S10e from US and I'm having trouble adding a credit card. I have no problem adding it to Samsung Pay, but I have been unable to verify it. When I click on "Temporary transaction" nothing happens, so I called the bank, and so far no solution. Did you solve your problem? Please let me know.
I have the same problem, will there be a way to flash a rom and solve this? I have a Galaxy S10e Variant g970u Will it be possible to put another variant since it is Snapdragon from the region of Mexico?
It probably won't work, my S9+ also fails adding cards, even Google Pay doesn't accept them I don't know why.

Question A way to enable Samsung Pay on a phone from unsupported country

Hi all!
I bought my S23 Ultra (and a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro) in Poland, right after launch.
It was configured in PL, but with UK/British region and my Samsung account used on the device also is set to the United Kingdom.
I live in the UK but I'm not able to use Samsung Pay - after installing the app it just says it's not available yet.
I asked Samsung Support about a way to make the Samsung Wallet work, but they just said that "it won't work" as the device is from an unsupported region.
The Samsung Pay app on my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, on the other hand, works without any issues right after installation.
I'm wondering if there is a way for me to enable this feature on this device. Maybe I should flash some "UK-based" ROM? Maybe some clever terminal command could help?
My current OneUI version:
One UI version: 5.1
• Current version: S918BXXU1AWC8/S918BOXM1AWC8/ S918BXXU1AWC8
• Security patch level: 1 April 2023
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
There's several guides on here, even for this device, on how to change your CSC to a compatible region. That should fix your problem.
Why not to use google wallet with G pay?

Well, for a couple of reasons:
1) Google Pay is much less reliable than Samsung Pay
2) Samsung Pay gives you a nice handy shortcut to launch it from the lock screen without the need to use corner apps shortcuts
3) Samsung Pay offers features like Transport Card in the UK
4) I just prefer the UI and it loads faster
I do not have to open gpay, just light up the screen to pay, also you can add all loyalty cards, tickets etc but probably just self preferences.
It's not possible, since Samsung double check your country with the device's country to avoid this.
Not a problem since I've been always using Wallet (ex GPay).

Well, it is. I just changed my CSC to INS (India) and Samsung Pay (or Wallet? I've lost track at this point) is working! I just need to add a card and check if I can pay.

It does. I was able to add a card to Samsung Wallet.
The process is a bit tricky since the device have to be rooted which can be risky and can affect your warranty.
Do follow the steps accordingly:
Root the Phone
Download and Install Samsung Pay APK
Install any VPN and Change your current location
*This should enable Samsung Pay*
Next, Add your Payment Card
After adding you will be able to make payment using Samsung Pay

Well, simply changing the CSC worked and it doesn't require a root.
I don't think that rooting a phone to be able to use it for payments isn't the best idea.

I'm late to this reply but gpay and Samsung pay are totally different technologies. Samsung pay works on most card swipe terminals without needing the merchant to have compatible hardware, the magnetic stuff for Samsung pay mimics the magnetic strip on a card. Gpay requires the merchant to update their pos terminals to include gpay hardware.

Could you please elaborate more. I don't understand. Are you saying that Google wallet also works on any terminal?

No, just that Samsung wallet has dropped support for MST starting with S21. So, less support for terminals

Thanks. I've never bothered using Samsung pay or Google wallet. I have these days set up Google wallet and wondering now which is better.
So they are basically the same more or less, right? Or Samsung pay has some advantages?

Earlier Samsung Pay was better because of MST support but as said above it was dropped couple of years ago. Now GPay is working fine even on rooted device.

Yes, it does work for me on your ROM. I just needed to know if Google wallet can be used on less terminals compared to Samsung pay. Looks like it's the same. Thank you.
