Noob to Xiaomi phones needs help with upgrading his Redmi Note 4x MTK - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I'm sorry if there is another thread about this but I'm new to Xiaomi (I used to be a LG user until now) and I just got overwhelmed by all the Redmi note 4 and 4x variants...
All I know is that I got a Redmi Note 4x with a MTK deca core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. My phone is on Android 6 atm, but I found this thread and I was wondering if this is the right one for my phone? I used to flash lots of different roms on my old LG G2, CM12 and others, then restore the stock rom when I got bored of the custom roms - It was plain simple, but since I'm pretty new to Xiaomi and its community isn't as huge as the G2 community I'm scared to brick my device. I could try flashing the given ROM but what if something goes wrong? How do I restore the stock ROM? Is there a "Download Mode" like my G2 had it?
I tried googling for days, but all the variants, different roms etc are just so overwhelming. Is there anyone else here who can confirm that the ROM from the link above will work on my device?

I have the very same question.

Yeah. That's for your phone only.

Just wondering... Has any MT6795/Helio X10 device recived marsmellow ?

While Xiaomi has leaked but not said anything official as to marshmellow on the redmi note 2.
Im curious about the Helio X10 in general. as far as i could find theres only one Helio X10 device with Marshmellow, the HTC X9.
But its yet to be released, its only apperance has been TENNA which is the Chinese electronics certification board (i think)
so... before asking about Marshmellow on the redmi note 2, should we be worried Mediatek will pull its regular **** and say "well, if you want marshmellow get a P10 or X20 powered phone", the same way they did with the MT6589T and the MT6592.
The only reason the MT6582 got lollipop was the android one program, and thats becuase Google was personaly involved in the project. but Mediatek is usualy like "well... we dont release newer android versions for our older products becuase we want you to buy the latest one and make us more money"
Its the reason why the RedMi note 3 Pro exists (snapdragon 615) and the reason why Xiaomi dosnt use mediatek for its flagship range (theres no mediatek Mi3/4 variant), and why they say that the X20 (apart from heat issues) has no place in the newer lineup.
So. any X10 devices with marshmellow ?
Sony M5 will receive marshmelow too
will being the key word

Where did you get this information?
Xiaomi weibo in china
imposible
The HTC One M9+ (released May 2015), which will get the update to 6.0, and the One X9 which was even released with 6.0.
Sony also announced it will update it's Xperia M5
Archos has launched Diamond 2 Note, X10 & PowerVR G6200 which born with M.
Maybe devs can take a look at this.
Drivers for the Mediatek SoC are definitely available to the manufacturers, so Xiaomi should be able to work on the update, unless they no longer care for a phone that is only 3 months old (Redmi Note 3).
Unfortunately, that happens more than I would like.
The Archos diamond 2 note is in the same place as the HTC X9, unreleasd.
MediaTek has partnered with MIUI for what I knew and released the MT6795 kernel code. My device is a LeTV Le 1s, it already has Marshmallow running and stable. The community of this mobile is very present. There are almost all existing RONs in MT6795 running on this device. Unfortunately I will not have VIBE OS lenovo because the lenovo not released any MT6795 device and I do not know build systems for android devices from the source code. but content myself with coloros 3.0 or MIUI 8 for now.
If you understand kernel compilation, there is the link to the MT6795 kernel:

Redmi 3 Pro: most purer-stable rom out there?

Hi
Whats up?
Bought the Redmi 3 Pro 3GB/32GB version.
After read a lot and especially the ROMs suitable for Redmi 3 Pro thread
I read that the MIUI's rom is onerous the phone with so much bloatware apps(cleanmaster, antivrus, Micloud and so more).
So, what is the most stable rooted rom w/o bugs at the area? (Read that the CM13 still have some annoying bugs)
I'm totally noob at the beginning after buying a new device
Saw the MIUI 8 V6.7.7 -BUT- still prefer more "puerer" rom and ofcoarse - with the least Lags as possible.
Prefer a rom that comes rooted comes with twrp + gapps installed that keeps the great battery life of the RN3 PRO.
Is there a "tut's" for how to?
Thanks very much for your help
Been using nehz's CM 12.1 for weeks and it's been pretty stable, some small bugs but it's not that bad. Battery life is almost the same as MIUI, I get a 6.5 to 7 hours SOT.
I'm new to MIUI also have a Redmi 3 pro for two weeks now and I have to say I'm quite happy with MIUI so far. Im currently running the MIUI 8 spaceX rom which is rooted so any apps I don't want to use I have frozen or uninstalled using titanium backup. Before this I've always had some form of CyanogenMod on my older phones and thought that I'd have to flash cm again but so far I'm happy with MIUI

Thanks for your replays!
I always prefer a ROM without bloatware, that's why I think I would prefer the CM.
Is there a way to flash the ROM and and root it at the same process?
Thanks again.
There's no bloatware in the either of ManHiT's MIUI roms. Maybe 6 or 7 system apps that you won't want to use but these are easily uninstalled once you have root.

I second this. In SpaceX/Manh_IT bloatware should not be a problem. I've rooted and removed the ones that I do not use. Just make sure you NEVER remove the MI Account and Find Phone applications. IT WILL render your phone unuseful and needing to flash again.
Thanks very much for your help.
I got the MTK Helio X10 version.
I understood that this is a sub-model for the Chiniese market.
I plan to root it and in case i wont be satified with the MIUI, would flash some clean rom that would be as close to a stock android.
Is there any GLOBAL rom for this model?
Have a good weekend!

Redmi 3 is a model for the Chinese model, there is no submodel. You probably got a fake.

Hi,
This is what I ordered:
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiao...7-16-0MP-TOUCH-ID---Silvery-White-362395.html
Are you sure that there is 1 global model?
Cuase, I read that there is 2 models with 2 different proccesors:
1) MTK chipsent (Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hexa Core Helio X10)
2) MSM chipsent (Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650)
So there is must be a defference with the roms for the 2 sus model's, arent?
Would love to be more clear about that.
Thanks!

[ASKING] New User

hello friend, i just bought my xiaomi redmi note 3 with specification (in attachment)
what version of my xiaomi phone, i need detail specification bout my phone, where should i choose methode for root or custom rom. its redmi note 3 or redmi note 3 pro. this is chinese version or indian or etc idk
i have 13mpx rear cam and 5mpx front cam
2gb ram
thanks
It's a Snapdragon, aka Kenzo. Before everything else spend a couple of days reading first three subforums. Or else I suppose you will cry for help.
You should familiarize yourself with backup, unlocking bootloader, flashing TWRP (which?), flashing ROM, and, finally, unbricking.
Have fun!

What ROMs are available for Redmi Note 3 Pro?

I'm about to get a Redmi Note 3 Pro next year and I want to install a newer version of android 6.0 or 7.1.
I see many ROMs for Redmi Note 3 but I'm not sure if they would work for the Pro version and I don't want to flash the wrong ROM and brick my device.
hey, every roms for redmi note 3 "snapdragon" are for redmi note3 pro

Mokee marshmallow and CyanogenMod 13 are stable, I like slim rom. I have come full circle back to global dev mm.
Fortunately we got a separate thread between Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon version and the other Redmi Note 3 Mediatek version in XDA, so there will be easier for you to choose what ROM u wanna install on ur device and just make sure that u are in right thread.
We got a plenty custom ROM based on MM as well as Nougat and we all know that Nougat is still in alpha or beta stage so you may come across with particular bugs that came from the device cos we got some different versions like fingerprint sensor, camera, led etc, but in MM we have almost rock stable build, choose wisely.
And another thing that u wanna note that actually we have two version ot Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon, they are Kenzo (which ppl mainly use this device) and another one with codename Kate (special edition). What we look here, that Kenzo has many dev support whereas Kate doesn't and you may end up with bootloop if u flash Kenzo's ROM over Kate, but sometimes it will work sometimes ot doesn't. Also if we compare side by side between Kate and Kenzo, we look that Kate is bit taller than Kenzo, thanks to additional 4G bands.
That's all I think and I hope you are satisfied with ur decision like I did.
Last but not least, WELCOME. THANKS.

You sure you've bought the redmi-note-4x??
Or just open CPU - Z app, and check the SoC, if it's SD625 then both Redmi-note-4 [Indian SD version] & 4X are same, Roms are compatible.
You could have got the Global version of the Note 4X that's why it doesn't show the "X" but is has the same hardware as the 4X with more radio bands.
Same device.
Note 4X with software global = note 4 on info about smartphone.

This guide has everything you need to know.
You'll have to unlock the bootloader (by downloading the MiFlash Unlock tool — link in page), then download the Global ROM version (link in the "B. Fastboot Flashing Method" section)
Then install Xiaomi USB driver and use the MiFLash Tool (not the same as MiFlash Unlock Tool above) to flash the ROM you downloaded
