Amazfit without phone - Amazfit

I was considering buying one of these watches but was wondering if they function without having a phone constantly in range. For example could I wear it to work tracking steps, GPS and heart rate and then sync the data at the end of the day ?

Yes u can,
u can sync any time u needed,

One more confirmation that you can. Not sure how long watch can track activities without syncing with the phone. With available internal storage could be quite long.
Basically you can do and see all on the watch itself except one thing, set the time.

Actually, you need the phone the firsty time you start up the amazfit, from then you no longer need to connect the Amazfit to the phone, but obviously thew data will remain only on the Amazfit neither the phone nor on cloud.

Hello,
I have read that Amazfit Bip has wifi.
Can I use it when I don't have the phone with me? For example the phone is connected on my home router, the watch on my gym router, and still receive sms and other notifications?
Thank you

Yes, it has wifi but only for update and upload activities. Not sure that upload actually works correctly and that you don't need the phone at all.
You're idea is really good, can be done but will drain battery on both devices. Watch is automatically turning off wifi when is not used. Notifications are coming via Bluetooth (BLE).
Btw, have you noticed that you cannot set time/date on the watch without phone?

That was a joke But yeah, with all flaws maybe is not the best choice. On another hand, battery is one of the best on the market.

I agree with Zeljko1234, BIP is not the best choice. I bought Verge and i really happy that i choice this model. Without smartpohone you can listen with bluetooth music, no need to have at this moment smartphone, you can sport wihout smartphone with this model. Later you can sync all yours days activities with smartphone. Wifi is need for update, upload feedback and ect. Later is talk about mini games in this model. But most important what do you want from watch and why you want to use it without smartphone?
P.S. Yes BIP can be without charge 45 days (Amazfit information), but Verge have also not bad battery, offcourse it's not 45 days But about 3 - 4 days with my settings (most feature is activated and working a lot of hours, heart rate - always) i can be without any worries. By the way it's really good watch for low price (i spent more as 140 euros)
One big minus you can't install from Google Play any others apps to watch like can do with Samsung's, Huawei and ect., watch which running by Android Wear, but if say honest almost all important apps (witdgets) is added: weather, music, find smartphone, timer, compass, call (yes you can call from watch to friends, but need smartphone to be connected) and others. There is no calendar yet, but maybe will be later, i hope. Have IP68 protection of water, anti allergic band, memory for user about 2.5GB from 4GB (for music), smooth, Amoled screen (display), have voice assitant (US market only at this time) and much more...

I am considering the Amazfit for my 11 yr old. He doesn't have a phone, we do. What would he be able to do with this phone?

Haters gonna hate. Thats the only way to look at it. Its a cool piece of hardware but theres haters for everything. Hell you tell people the battery will last 2-3 days and they scream bloody murder, "oh it sucks, thats horrible!". Then you tell them the Apple iWatch battery will only last 8 hours and they are all like " oh well thats probably ok" (I dont actually know what the iWatch battery is like). I did just go on a little rant here. It should give you some insight into why people talk bad about it.
Thanks I'll check that out

I just got mine yesterday and so far I like it. I had the original Gear 1 and a Moto 360. I will say that the Moto 360 seemed to work better with Google stuff such as Hangouts, but it was far more limited as a device compared to the Gear S. I loaded the Gear Notification Extender, and now I can reply to both Gmail and Hangouts using the Gear S, very nice!
I do like the option of using something like the Opera Mini Browser to view Gmail and such. And I can't wait to try it out this spring while cycling, it would be nice to leave my phone at home or in the car when riding my bike.
Hope this helps.
its a fantastic piece of kit
to be fair i've struggled with it a bit understanding the settings and permutations but the functionality seems to be improving day by day.
the choice of useful apps isn't massive but that hasn't been a problem for me personally,
I'm not a great fan of the interface on my related S4 smartphone but i can live with that
the liberation of just having the watch (ok with your compatible samsung plugged in or turned on somewhere else) is the main attraction for me
i dont understand the haters especially those deriding the battery life, the appearance (it looks great on your wrist in real life), the concept ( i don't think i need one why would anybody else?) or the need to have a samsung phone to go with it ( I'm not charmed by that either that but Samsung are no worse than others in that regard and there are I guess technical reasons why it has to pair with something short of being a brick on your wrist) at least with the Gear S that pairing can be at a distance or indeed you can just use it as a phone on its own
some people have posted here and on android central that they have returned the watch but most actual users who see the use case for them, have checked out the limitations, have persevered or been patient with some of the glitches and understand why its the best in its class
i see your a "senior member" so apologies for showing granny how to suck eggs - apart from that buy it - or hang on a little longer to see if there really is a Gear S 2 coming soon!

What type of lights are you turning on and off? And what brand camera? I didn't see your apps on gear store
Thats because i wrote the apps for myself.

5.1.1 Announced

Looks like some pretty cool features are coming to Android Wear in 5.1.1. I personally like the apps and contacts being accessible with one tap. No need for a launcher any more.
The big question is whether or not the LG G watch can take advantage of the wifi feature. I've seen reports from both sides, so I have no idea what to expect. Any word?

No one knows for sure. It's even unsure if LG will enable it.
The Samsung has a wifi antenna, but there is even no bluetooth chip.. So would it need a wifi chip?
http://ifixit.org/blog/6594/wearables-teardown/
Does it need a different antenna or not? (bluetooth has the same frequency as Wifi).
The LG G Round is rumored to have wifi, but has the same hardware as the LG G (except the screen).
I did found this, which is interesting:
http://fccid.net/number.php?fcc=ZNFW110&id=866900#axzz3XvuGUR5W
It also states frequency 2412-2462 at 0.063W, which is exactly wifi channel 1-11
The other one (2402-2480Mhz at 0.009W) corresponds to Bluetooth
type number is the LG G watch, and is described as 2.4 DTS... What is DTS? The b/g/n notation hints at wifi...
Good find Spicy. Think that pretty much confirms we have it. Sweet!

It looks like the 110 is the R:
http://fccid.net/number.php?fcc=ZNFW110&id=761057#axzz3Xx6ebWzT
Which, yes, should be the same as ours but I don't think anyone can say for sure.

Yea, ours is the ZNFW100. No mention of WiFi freq:

in the detailed teardown of the Samsung, they point out the combo Wifi/BT controller (step 11). the G Watch's Broadcom chip (BCM20715) is BT only
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Sam...gnMonitor&utm_term=Samsung Gear Live Teardown
Its been confirmed from lg that the gwatch will get the update but not the WiFi feature.

this really pissed me off. Man, the lg g watch is more expensive than the samsung gear live but lower screen resolution, no heart rate sensor and now no wifi support? WTF? LG, you'd better get your **** together before it's too late. no more lg for me.
We might be better off without it. That WiFi feature may drain the battery quicker.
Sent from my LGLS740 using Tapatalk 2
I have wifi and remote notification on Gear S but never use the wifi connexion, not very usefull and drain battery. There are just the 3G wich can help, wifi is just for 20 meters or nearby but 3G works everywhere.
Even with wifi you have just app notification. If your phone ring outside BT range you must go to your phone for answer, wifi not help. So just for 2min without BT no need to drain battery for receive one GMail notification.
So, after getting an Android Wear smartphone app update and the according Google Play Services one too I constantly get the popup "Google Play Services was closed" (or something like that, my phone is in german).
Anyone knowing a fix for this?
crashed here too :crying:

Worth Getting it?

Hello,
I found that some of the Samsung S features may fill some of my needs however I have a few questions:
Does it work well with Note 3?
I would like to use it for fitness, is it any good for that? (running, indoor exercise,)
is there any standalone app that can be used for running (without phone)? I know that in Android wear we can use ghostracer and endomodo. Is there anything like that?
Is it worth getting it now for 289 €?
Thanks
Yes
Yes
Dunno..think so
Yes
Thanks.
Some people in reddit said that it doesnt worth so I am a bit undecided.
I have already tried 2 wear devices and I am swapping for this one. Just returned de sony smartwatch 3 and ordered the gear S. Lets see if I am happy with it.
The thing is that the new ones coming now arent better for the purposes that I need. That is why I also decided to choose the gear S.

Thanks I just received it
I also own the gear S and for what your looking for your will love it. I have about 350 mp3s loaded on my gear, I have the gear circle bluetooth headphones, so when I need to take a short trip out i can leave my phone at home, and still receive text, calls, email, and listen to my music while our and about. The large curved screen is incredible, stands out from all other smartwatches, and for its size its suprisingly light. Good luck.
Just want to add, that the new Samsung smart watch uses an eSim.
I still pop the sim out of my S5, and shove it in my watch when I want to leave my phone, and I don't pay any extra per month. Can't do that with an eSim.
Had the watch for about three weeks now and I love it. It is so nice to leave the phone home at times and still be in contact with others. As far as I know, this is the only watch that has the ability to make and receive calls as a stand-alone device. Never really got the whole "smart watch" thing. If your watch needs to be in the vicinity of the phone to receive notifications then why not just pick up your phone,,,,,the Gear S can work alone (albeit with limited functionality)if you turn blue-tooth and gear manager off. I do it all the time to save battery and I get almost three days life. My moto 360 gets maybe a day and does nothing more than my phone does. Heck it was just a few weeks ago that the 360 was able to work off of the internet connection which helps but, still thats at home (where my wifi connection is) and thats the same place as where my phone is located so again why not just use the phone LOL.

Yes, that is why I decided to choose the S over the 360. Additionally, the new 360 (not the sport version) doesn't has GPS which was one of the features that made me choose the gear S. I am happy with it so far

[APP] Battery Alert - Notification if your watch battery is getting low on your phone

This is a simple app to get a notification on your watch and/or phone if your watch battery goes below a set point. In order for the app to work, make sure the app is installed on both your watch and phone and that you have opened both to establish the connection. You can then set the level you want to be alerted at and whether you want to be alerted on your phone or watch only. If you wish to only get alerts on your phone you need to block notifications for the app in Google's Wear OS app. This was mainly an app I wrote to try out Kotlin but I hope it is useful!
You can get it on the play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turndapage.batteryalert
I have really been wanting a notification on my phone when my watch is done charging. Can you add a second alert for when the watch is charged? Guess I should try it before asking but didn't see this in the description ?

Just try the wear battery full above. I never find the need to check the battery level. But I need to know when it is charging or not. I use Automagic and setup up the sound to tell me when it is charging and show me the average percentage used since last charged. It takes quite a bit setup, but the simplest one require the least setup. And you can do a lot of other stuff with it too.

Agreed about the battery life. I have to charge at least twice a day, while my previous mi band 2 only once in 2 weeks. But can't help with it, I need wearOS. Hopefully next gen wear SoC can get much better life. At least last 2 full days in one charge.

Samsung galaxy watch doesn't work

Hello everyone
Just got a samsung galaxy watch, loaded in the Samsung Wear app as required. However, it will not pair with the watch, it resets each time.
I've read other mate 20 Pro users being affected. Anyone else had a problem?
Only thing I can think of is an incompatibility issue with a android 9.
Thanks
My zen watch 2 connected no trouble

Mine works fine. No issues since day one. Do you have this app?

Also you'll need the galaxy watch plugin app, ive got the Galaxy watch and have no issues at all with it, works as good as it did when it was paired to my Note 9.

Working for me also (Galaxy Watch 42mm + Mate 20 Pro), although I have occasionally some bluetooth disconnect/reconnect.

Oh ok, my connections really strong, its never disconnected once. Even when phones downstairs and im upstairs it's still connected. I was surprised that it works just as well as when it was connected to my Note 9.

I disagree with that. I like to try all different brands of phone, not so much Apple since the 5s but Samsung have been ok for me. I still have my Note 9, it's just slightly too big for daily use. Not one issue with it besides that. Now this Huawei phone, i cant say I've had no issues with this, from auto brightness messing up and third party launchers not working properly with gestures. I like the phone but it's far from perfect. And also this is my 3rd due to the green screen issues. Looking forward to see what the S10 has to offer.

Excuse me, man, is your watch new this year?
The Galaxy Watch is a few months old, got it when it was released.
I received an updated firmware both on the watch and the phone, now I don't have any disconnect issues anymore but I don't know if it's a Samsung or Huawei fix.
Everything works just fine here, especially after Samsung's latest update, which fixed reconnection issue
Hey did you guys without issues enable anything special? I have to manually connect every day. Did you add the apps to the whitelist or anything.
Thinking about going back to wear os with the fossil watch.

Nothing special, but noticed I had to turn screen on phone for them to connect, so for example when I turn on Bluetooth on the phone then turn watch on and leave them next to each other to connect obviously the watch takes a couple of minutes to boot up so by then the screens timed out on my phone, so once I unlock phone after about a minute it'll then connect which is a bit weird never had that problem when it was connected to my Note 9. Watch would connect with my Note 9 whether the screen on phone was off or on.

Yeah looks like I have to hit the open on phone button and all is good. I normally have 2 devices connected at a time and coming from lg v30+ it handled that better than most phones.
I agree, watch is perfect connected to samsung phone. Wife uses the note 8 without any issues. But I understand that part, its meant to be used within samsungs world.

Anyone trying Mate 20 Pro with the Bluetooth version of Galaxy Watch? Or is it working only with LTE version? Thanks!

I have the opposite experience. Have both note 9 And mate pro, I haven't used my note 9 since I got the mate, so enough said!
