OBB ON SD for Nougat and Magisk User :D (Enable save OBB/DATA folder on External) - Samsung Galaxy J5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys after trying many apps and xposed module, I kinda found a way how we can save our internal space by saving OBB/DATA files of our games specially the one with large files Don't know if it works on Marshmallow because my unit or model J5007 has no marshmallow bootloader to use 6.0 roms and test this... but if someone is willing to try report here to let the others know I think even though u dont have Magisk, as long as you have root just download Xposed for nougat and find the original flashable zip (not for magisk) then follow the steps
Requirements:
-Magisk Latest v14
-Xposed installer or app for Magisk (main app)
-Xposed v88 SDK 25 (Nougat only) zip for Magisk (install zip)
-OBB ON SD module from Xposed
Steps:
1. Install Magisk v14 or latest from the official forum of it.
2. Install Xposed app for Magisk (main app), Open you will notice that you need to install Xposed
for android 5.1 and up the only way is to flash xposed to install it.
3. Flash Xposed v88 SDK 25 zip then reboot.
4. Open Xposed app (main app) then check if Xposed is installed. if not try flashin again.
5. On Xposed go to Modules then search for OBB ON SD then install and activate it's module.
6. Open OBB ON SD switch on the following: "Data on SD" and "Detect SD on Android 5/6" then others are optional.
7. Copy the OBB/DATA of your game on "sdcard/Android/obb or data" then reboot device and enjoy
Note: Can't post links because i didn't get the owner permission, you could just search them here in XDA
Hit Thanks to thank the developers of Magisk, Xposed, Module and if it helps

@Wood Man and this one...:cyclops:
MOD EDIT @JosephDM: moved!

Thanks! I'll try that soon.

Dont work
I did not get it, it says that the xposed framework is not installed.

Is whatsapp working on external storage through this method???

[Q] help rooting visual land prestige elite 10q

I am looking for any help or information on rooting visual land prestige elite 10q please help
Me too!!!
Root (& install SuperSu) AND install Xposed Framework w/o TWRP/CWM/a custom recovery
Visual Land Prestige Elite 10 QL
I have a Visual Land Prestige Elite 10QL tablet. I spend two days trying to root/get SuperSu to install/get a custom recovery so that I could install a ROM or Xposed Framework. I had a very hard time, but with A LOT of research... I found the below information.
Rooted with Kingroot
Added Super Su, but would not install properly. If you root with Kingroot and want to use Super Su as your superuser instead of Kingroot's, I found the fix. Install Super Sume , which will delete the Kingroot files (but will not unroot the phone) and will replace with the Super Su files.
Then get this!!! Because TWRP and CWM custom recoveries are not compatible with VL PE 10ql tablets, I could not use them to flash a custom ROM or install Xposed Framework.
But, I found a fix!
You CAN install Xposed Framework without TWRP/CWM custom recovery.
I did a Nandroid backup using Titanium Backup and saved to SD card, although it is brand new and I could just do a factory reset if it screwed up. I don't recommend going to the next step before doing a Nandroid backup. (google it)
Use FlashFire to flash Xposed Framework directly w/o custom recovery.
Download the latest derivative version of Xposed for Lollipop (Android 5.0 or 5.1) by romracer. You need two files, the Xposed installer apk and the Framework flashable zip. Read about it and get the files here: Xposed Files Please Read Their Q&A to make sure you get the correct files!
1. Install the Flashfire app
2. Open The FlashFire app, then grant superuser when requested.
3. Tap the plus (+) button at the bottom to show the menu.
4. Choose “Flash ZIP or OTA” menu, and keep the “Auto-mount” option unchecked then tap checkmark icon to continue.
5. Tap the EverRoot menu, and ensure every single options remains unchecked.
6. Leave the Reboot menu to normal to boot system after flash.
7. Just hit the "Flash" button to start the process.
8. You will get a blank screen, then display the contents of your system just before it start the flash procedure. Don't freak out! Your device will reboot and it may take awhile.
9. Find the Xposed Module Management APK file (download file or system files), open it, follow the directions
10. Start customizing by installing modules from the repository!
Thanks to Robbie S www.andromods.com for contributing much of directions for installation

xposed for lollipop

I found an xposed package customised for Nubia's running lollipop (5.0.x). with this you don't need to disable resource hooks and some UI customising apps will even work.
Open the rar, copy the installer apk to your sd card. Open the folder of your device, either z7 or z9. copy both the installer zip and the uninstaller zip to your sdcard root.
Restart in your custom recovery, install the zip (just the installer not the uninstaller obviously)
Once rebooted, install the apk.
Then you can enjoy xposed.
If you encounter issues, restart in recovery and install the uninstaller.

Installing xposed

*******KennyG change this to how you need it, I'm just getting the knowledge out. I don't wish to steal credit or work******
Hello fellow xda members, I have used many other sites but haven't been on xda since my droid bionic days... I didn't give up on the v10, i contacted tung and here we are!
Any hoo the method was created by the 6th_Hokage for the boost stylo and it works with a little tweaking on our devices.
Follow the prerequisites from his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/how-to/guide-xposed-boost-stylo-5-1-1-t3192494
Here they are for quick glance
Required:
Root
Busybox installed on the device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....busybox&hl=en
Script Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tmanager&hl=en
Package needed Xposed Boost Stylo.zip: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347813218
Extract the stylo zip to the root of your internal storage
you should see the installer script file and the xposed zip package
download corresponding xposed zip and installer apk
(v80sdk22arm64) and (3.0 alpha 4)
rename the v80sdk22arm64.zip to the v72 found on the root of the sd from the Xposed Boost Stylo.zip
then run it following the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/how-to/guide-xposed-boost-stylo-5-1-1-t3192494 by kakashi aka the6thhokage
5- Open Script Manager and navigate to the installer file (script) and chose script, su then press save .
6- now select the same script and press run and choose the option according to what you want (Yes/No)
7- Wait for the script to finish, now go to Xposed Installer apk that you installed before and select soft reboot (it will turn off just power back on)
8- After restart and you may use Xposed properly
soft reboot and there ya go! Ill add more stuff when I get time
thanks peter muzyka
hey the errors don't hinder it and use kernel auditor to set permissive on boot. I also would like some coffee funds if you feel the need paypal [email protected]
I get this error message when I try to install
it should continue to run, make sure you renamed the xposed zip to the same name as the one in the file and have it placed on the root of your internal storage
I renamed the file and put the folder in the internal storage
As a zip not folder all on the root of the sd. I'll make a all in one after I get with romracer and 6th hokage
got it working. thanks.
@THADDIUS25
Like superdallas said, you must put the files from zip into root of internal storage. your screenshot is showing you put the files under "Xposed+Boost+Stylo V2"
Also did you download v80sdk22arm64 then renamed it? you can find download link from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
Need to fix Google Play Store links =)
I just used the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/install-xposed-framework-to-lg-spirit-t3226809
Clearer steps by playadru182 below: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66015228&postcount=48
Also, if anyone is getting a second screen error when making calls after installing xposed. Don't forget to follow @tattedup 's tutorial on second screen fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/general/xposed-fixes-screen-t3246515
It doesn't continue to run in my case, it just shows it can't create /proc/self/fd/
Like this?
http://imgur.com/A1FbNtS
Yeah, it does exactly like that.
Make sure Busybox is installed. As in, run the the Busybox app that you downloaded from the Play Store and install it from there.
Yeah busybox isn't installing properly for some odd reason I believe. It does not run like it usually does.
It doesn't say installed when you tried installing it?
https://imgur.com/JTfuKST
It does say installed....
What fixed it for me was either installing Busybox (I forgot ^^ or using the Terminal Emulator way that I mentioned in my comment to the OP.
When I did that it said no such file or directory
When you entered "su" then "sh /sdcard/installer" in the emulator?
Unlike the OP here that says to put the files in the root folder, put it in the /sdcard folder then try it.
I put it in the folder, but still, no such file or directory.

Replacing SuperSU by MagiskSU on A2017G Nougat B04/B05

Introduction: Since the last days I encountered several problems after updating SuperSU (updating from stable 2.79 to 2.80 then 2.81 then finally 2.82).
Refer to https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703
Also SuperSU (2.80, 2.81) now requires a lot of new permissions not needed for pure root functions, and since it is now owned by Chinese CCMT company,
I prefer another root solution, and discover Magisk and MagiskSU (Magisk/MagiskSU is open source which is excellent for privacy and security).
Magisk official topic: Magisk v12.0 - Root & Universal Systemless Interface [Android 5.0+]
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
All about Magisk:

[UNOFFICIAL] Magisk v13 and MagiskManager v5.0 snapshots
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/unofficial-magisk-v10-beta-built-t3521901
I follow the Magisk official topic and try to install Magisk (v12.0 and Magisk manager v4.3.3 from Playstore).
But no root is operational, root is installed but no root persmissions!
After reading some discussion https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/mod-magisk-v1-universal-systemless-t3432382, I decided try the latest Magisk beta (snapshot):
I use:
MagiskManager-v5.0-170612.apk from https://github.com/stangri/MagiskFiles Direct download link: https://github.com/stangri/MagiskFiles/blob/master/MagiskManager-v5.0-170612.apk

Magisk-v13-170612-Uninstaller.zip (not needed, just in case) from https://github.com/stangri/MagiskFiles Direct download link: https://github.com/stangri/MagiskFiles/blob/master/Magisk-v13-170612-Uninstaller.zip
UPDATE-unSU-signed.zip from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63615067

A2017G-N-B05-boot.img from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634782427 (original topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/download-center-factory-images-ota-t3606547 )
TWRP 3.1.1-0: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195900705 (original topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/download-center-factory-images-ota-t3606547)
And it works, root is OK, root checker passed, and when enabling Magisk Hide in Magisk manager: Safetynet check passed!
This would mean function like Android Pay should be OK too for interested users.
(Add) To get Google Play Store Settings as Certified: select Magisk hide in Magisk manager, check the box corresponding to Play Store, clear Play Store data => certified. So applications like Netflix would be now available in Play Store (they are hidden for rooted (= not certified) phone.
Procedure I followed:
- Current phone status: unlocked bootloader, stock ROM Nougat B04, TWRP recovery 3.1.1-0, root with SuperSU 2.82 (systemless)
- (optional, but recommended for safety) backup with latest TWRP 3.1.1-0: boot, recovery, system, data, cache
- reboot into TWRP, then in this order during same session: install zip UPDATE-unSU-signed.zip, install image A2017G-N-B04-boot.img, install zip Magisk-v13-170528.zip , reboot system => normal boot OK
- Under Android: click on apk to install magisk manager MagiskManager-v5.0-170528.apk (must first enable Unknown sources in Phone Setting/Security) -
- Run MagiskManager: MagiskManager ok, MagiskSU OK!, enable Magisk hide: Safetynet check passed!
- disable "Unknown sources" in phone settings/Security.
Notes:
- If you have SuperSU 2.79, 2.80 or 2.81 this should work too.
- UPDATE-unSU-signed.zip is used to completely remove/uninstall SuperSU first, which helps Magisk install, although Magisk has actions to uninstall
SuperSU by itself.
- This procedure should work too (not tried) for other model like A2017 or A2017U, just be careful to replace the A2017G-N-B04-boot.img boot image with the one corresponding to your model (you could extract boot.img from your model ROM zip).
Edit (add):
- This procedure works also for Nougat B05. Just use A2017G-N-B05-boot.img instead of A2017G-N-B04-boot.img.
- You can use more updated version of Magisk and Magisk Manager.
- If you do not have SuperSU installed, you can skip all steps related to SuperSU.

Well, links to Github are not direct download link, you open it with a browser, then you see a list of apk/zip files with different dates (build).
You then choose a file (for example file with the latest date) by clicking on its name, it will get you to a new page where there is a Download button.

When I press the chosen file (example magisk apk) it brings me to a new page but where the download link is supposed to be it instead says "the file is to big to show". Do I need to be on a PC?

There is in fact a "download" button to download the file. You probably need a PC for this. I will edit the post to add direct download links.

Got it. Apparently you need a PC.
I tried to install this on V2.0.0B01 chinese.
All passed green except the ctsProfile which returns false.
SU from magisksu works btw. what does ctsProfile mean?
Also, if I tried to enable su for apps and adb, basic integrity gives false too.
@otaconremo
Did you enable Magisk Hide? Maybe this could help:

Yes I did enable magisk hide. It's enabled by default and I even toggled it on and off. Also, magisk app force closes whenever I grant su access to any app. But it still does give me su anyway.
To note, v13 is the only version that works on the chinese variant so far. All other previous versions doesn't allow me to boot my device. Maybe because we don't have a custom kernel/boot to begin with.
Any way to use this in the A2017U running b25?
Can you please update files?

Yep.
Installed/flashed Magisk 13.3 and now SafetyNet Check works
Thanks :good:. The method worked for me with B05 and Magisk 13.3.
I used the same method with B06. Magisk Manager 13.3 kept crashing but it seems more stable with Magisk 14.0.
