Has nothing to do with Sprint. None of the carriers in the USA have it yet.

I'm the manager of a repair shop, and a customer brought in a VZW galaxy j7 1st gen. Needless to say, I was a bit perturbed when I saw it was running 7.1.1 stock. This is my first Samsung device and I was sort of expecting this. However, the fact that we aren't at least getting the monthly security updates is a bit disappointing to say the least.

FINALLY!! Just got the update too... anyone notice anything different?

Sprint has an update out right now and I was just wondering if anybody has taken it and could let me know if most of the overlays still work and if the hotspot workaround is still able to work? I'm sure this is probably the November security patch. I have not even downloaded the update yet.

My guess is this is likely for the international version. For the ATT version I would suggest ICS will take 2-3 more months to arrive. ATT does not know the meaning of moving quickly.
Idk Samsung pushing for a global simultaneous release for the gs3 so heres hoping the lag between updates is only a few weeks

akjdhflskdjlskdjfls i want it asap!!!
I think we have to hope for CM9, tbh. Samsung is definitely making good progress on ICS for international Note and GS2, but these devices (AT&T Note and Skyrocket) are both gated by AT&T, and running completely different hardware. I had an Infuse for a while, which got gingerbread from AT&T at the end of January. Hopefully that is not indicative of the delay we'll see for ICS on the Note, but I'm not holding my breath--I have literally no faith in AT&T's ability to deliver updates in a timely manner.
Like Dave said, it's probably for the international version. Although my guess would be that you might be able to upgrade it anyway

That won't happen.. they have to clear the firmware through att first and I guarantee att doesn't even have it yet so a few months after they get it is what you should count on.

[Q] Verizon's S3- can it be rooted?

Looked through quite a few pages and haven't seen this asked. Unfortunately I can't put up with the call problems of the Gnex. I just use my phone too much for work. Was considering getting the s 3 under warranty replacement if they allow it. Does anyone know if can be rooted and unlocked?

Good luck getting the S3 as a warranty replacement because its not going to happen, the phone hasn't been released no one has one to mess with or anything so as of now it is unknown. If it was rooted I'm sure it would have been posted already all over different forums

Yeah guys/girls at Verizon stores are stupider than my door knob, example went in to the store today to get a 4G LTE sim card for my thunderbolt that's been sitting in my night stand and now my sister wants to use and the lady and guy both working said that not only I needed to bring the device in but now there's a fee for the sim card :what:
I attempted to get the S3 as a replacement and from my understanding the only way it would be possible is if there was a certified like new device available.

Hmmm... I have a cracked screen and was thinking of using my insurance anyways. I wonder if I bring it in brand new and never even been taken out of the box if they would replace it that way? One could argue it's close to being the same phone to someone who doesn't really know the difference

First of all, the phone has already been released in Europe and parts of Asia for some time. Second, a while back somebody leaked the official samsung software rom for the S3, and hackers made quick work of it and had a root method within a day (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s3-rooted-stock-rom-leaked/). If you google "samsung s3 root" you will find lots of pages telling you how to root. Here's one example of such a site: http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/26/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-smartphone/
I know people are saying that you cannot get a S3 as a replacement but in my situation they did give me an early upgrade to a RAZR Maxx. I had to pay 200 for it but I at least got a phone with good signal. I asked about the S3 as an option and the csr said I could if I was willing to wait. I had another upgrade coming so I had already preordered the S3. My wife is getting the RAZR MAXX and she is thrilled.

I think China Telecom may also release it at about the same time, and it will be CDMA.
Its a samsung so 99% Yes, Though give it a few weeks, it'll be up to 100% and then mmmm aokp
from what i've heard all of us in north america (canada, America, will get the exact slab of hardware, Also at&t's source was just released tonight so sit tight maybe by the end of this week its gonna be rooted!)
Here is proof that phones get rooted before release all the time. ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile S3s' all have been rooted before anyone has the phone. I'm sure that Verizon's is just around the corner.

[Q] Which Mega Should I Get

Hi, if you browse a little those forums, you'll get your answer, i think
People with the i527 seem quite stuck, so it's probably safer to go for one of the international versions. i9205 and i9200 both got some early developpement while the i927 has root with difficulty ^^

Its pretty simple. Do you need LTE? If yes get the i9205. If not you gain another 8GB extra and a FM Radio with the i9200.
Cant comment on the Rogers i527 as I'm not from the US.
Wait till the note 3 is released and watch for that to be rooted. I think that's when the Mega will become mega

If the Rogers model is boot loader unlocked then the advantage of 4GLTE is considerable.
As it happens I chose the AT&T version which is boot locked for the moment but I can live with that to get the huge speed increase of 4GLTE on T-mobile. With the international versions you'll never know how good the phone is if you are in the US.
I bought the GT-I9205 last night. Should be here Tuesday or so. I hope it gets some development loving.

I hope it has 4G on AT&T. I know it doesn't have LTE
What carrier/plan do you want to use it on? If it's the TMobile $30 plan I'd suggest the AT&T model and just dealing with it. VOIP has only proven useful to me over LTE.
I have a AT&T 6 GB share plan with my wife.
For me the i9200 performed much better than the i9205. Not sure if the LTE modem on the i9205 had different firmware for camera and other things.
The i9200 had a better camera quality for me.

Verizon no longer selling S6 edge +?

Just looked at Verizon's website, it appears they no longer sell the s6 edge plus. Hm, wonder what that means for us in terms of updates I hope to at least get up to android N, anyone else?
With the 7 out now it was only s matter of time. I am sure they are still at the stores. They will still update but it takes them a long time. Heck my wife's HTC M8 got marshmallow already and that phones been out dated for awhile.

The phone has seemed to have been discontinued but the Android Marshmallow update was just released yesterday(keep checking your phones for the update this week) meaning updates will continue along side the S7 and S7 Edge. That would be stupid for them to discontinue updates on a 6 - 7 month old phone

How do I revert back to the Verizon firmware?

Now that Verizon has released an update to the S9+, I want to move my Verizon branded S9+ that I flashed to T-Mobile last month, back to Verizon so I can sell it. I can't seem to find any Verizon user data files for it though.
