What is this about?
This patch fixes hardware composer. It is a library that allows Android to use display hardware to render multiple 'layers' on screen, such as the status bar, the wallpaper, and the home screen. By default, Android uses the GPU to manage this rendering, which is considerably less efficient than using the dedicated display hardware.
Simply said - this should your phone smoother and with a little better battery life/
This is work by @forkbomb444 and you can find more information in the original thread for i9300. I've just adapted the work to t0lte and released it in the form of a patch.
Update: Maintaining this has become a slouch. One last build up. Support dropped for now.
Important!
1. Will work only for the official LineageOS rom for T0LTE. No other roms. No other devices.
2. If you flashed this patch do NOT report bugs in the official thread. It's an experimental patch so bugs are to be expected!
3. Will overwrite a lot so you'll be dependent on me for the updates
4. It will overwrite boot.img as well. You'll need to reflash magisk/xposed.
5. To remove the patch just dirty flash official build and it'll be gone.
6. When you update rom you'll need to flash this again.
Known bugs?
Certain users (not all) are reporting bootloop.

Sounds interesting. Is it intended/hoped that this will eventually make it into the official lineage release?
Do you have any gut feeling on what sort of battery life improvement it gives?
I tried Lineage in March this year but found a few things that seemed a bit flaky so went back to stock firmware.
However I installed the latest Lineage build last night and it seems very solid now - but does seem to be using battery a lot faster than stock - which I noted last time. Could be a rogue app of course.

Hey, thanks for leaving a reply.
We can't include this into official before we make sure all the major bugs get squashed. It's just not ready yet. But yeah, you could say it's planned.
About battery life, this should improve it, but I doubt it'll be anything significant. Worse battery life than stock could be due to fact that Android 7 is more demanding, could be tradeoff for performance. I don't know, use the rom as is if it suits you I guess. ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯
Cheers

Thanks Option58. I am very grateful for the work all the lineage people do with these ROMs.

It's amazing how even somthing as subtle and simple as that is enough to impress me with a ROM. Not to mention is really does save a pretty decent amount of time not having to open an app and check.

Reporting Bugs
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

For me its better than stock, but thats my opinion, flash it and you can be the judge.
Hi there,
I once flashed the image and got some issues:
When my phone is on stock, the Google Camera can enable the telephoto lens and the wide-angle lens while PE & RR don't. Also, the notch screen seems not working properly (some apps just displayed on the notch while stock rom just make it a black gap). Hope you can fix these issues soon.

Thanks a lot for developing the ROM. As the spec except the camera module and moto mod architecture, moto z4 is very much the same as moto one zoom. I will be appreciate if you could port the ROM to moto z4. Many thanks in advance.
Each time i try this rom, it ends in boot-loop!!
This build changes your recovery from twrp to lineage os recovery. Even reinstalling twrp, you wont be able to restore your backup. I had to reflash my device using stock. Be warned!
Hi @ all
Could someone explain what fastboot -w exactly does??
Solved:
-w erase userdata and cache (and format
if supported by partition type)
