removing network from top left of status bar? - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

I permanently have EE in the top left corner of my screen as it's my network operator. But it's bloody annoying because at a glance i think I have a message/notification because I've never had that before on a phone. Any way I can get rid of it?

Thanks! I thought I'd looked all through the settings for that! Must have looked at it like 5 times and never actually seen it! Lol

This might be a very stupid question, but I can't find an answer. For some days an new icon appeared on the top bar " e" See picture.
Can anyone explain me what it means and how I can get rid of it?

That means Edge, the (American?) high-speed data network.
It's a faster alternative to GPRS. Where are you?
(wrong forum, I think )
Thx aul, but I am in Belgium.

I know it is Edge now, but the question is why did it pop-up only a few days ago. I guess it came after I installed one of the Vista roms and how can I get rid of it? I am not using GPRS or Edge at all and it is only taken space at the top bar.

I'm Chinese, user of China Mobile, I chosed to closed the operation of GPRS in China Mobile, no matter the G icon or E icon were disappeared.

it takes no space at top bar, isn't it.. It just replace the other one.. If you use wifi, this will change to wifi network.
Standard Icon is 3 icon at top bar. and you have still 3.. So that is the same, isn't it?

SMS Popup Location

Is there a way to reposition where the sms popup shows up on the screen? Mine by default shows up in the top left of the screen and I use my right hand most of the time so to reach that far is tough when only using one hand.

My G2 put them there too. As far as I know, that's the only location, but maybe someone else has a better idea.

Setting to hide LG V30 navbar not available in settings.

I have just recently purchased an LG V30, and when I went to configure the settings to my liking, I noticed I was unable to hide the LG V30 navbar like I had seen in many videos. The setting is simply not available. I am on a Verizon unit and checked for updates and yes, it was on the latest update. Does anyone have any insight? I'd really like to be able to hide the bar, but at this point I don't see how.
It's on the nav bar itself and it's on an app by app basis. Look for the little arrow on the far left side of the nav bar.
I believe Verizon has the bad habit of removing this kind of useful stuff. Perhaps it's the case ?

No, I'm on VZW, too. It's there. It's the tiny down arrow ("carrot") in the lower left corner of the screen. Solid and it remains visible, outline and it hides.
There is an option in Settings/Display/Home Touch Buttons/Hide Home Touch Buttons. Also, like already mentioned, in whatever app you're in, you can manually hide them with the little arrow down button in the bottom left if the option is turned on in the settings I just mentioned

This should be possible with system ui tuner, you don't need root to do it
Can someone actually reply to this thread with a set of steps? I am getting pretty frustrated by that icon... and it seems like Samsung attempts the VPN connection even though I disabled it and interferes with AdGuard's VPN or other VPNs.
So. Beside the fact that it is bulls**t, it still tries to do some magic.

I got irritated as well with this. I went into settings>apps>SecureWifi, scrolled down to the notifications options, and selected muted/hidden on lockscreen.
I haven't seen that damn icon since.

I have the same settings. But that hides it from the lockscreen only. The icon and notification is still in the notification bar and list when the phone is unlocked.

Hi,
I am on latest version of coloros 7. I have tried everything I know but have not been able to get rid of these home screen animations which look like brackets at the border of the bottom edges.
Please help.
Attaching pics for clear picture. Note the brackets () at the bottom edges.

I have tried resetting themes to default. Home screen settings to different drawer styles. Changing icon types. Assistive ball off.
Everything literally in home screen and lock screen magazine menu.
The thing is it happens only in full screen mode. With navigation buttons, those brackets dont exist.
Btw, do you have these jn your mobile?

Sorry but I can't replicate this on my device.
Maybe someone can help who has the same issue

Donno why.
There is also a line in the middle which is aligned with the bottom edge. Its not associated with home screen settings. I have no idea what it is.

Maybe check developer options? See if there's anything in there that has been activated.

I have absolutely no idea to be honest.
Have a look and see if there are any toggles you can turn on or off.
One at a time. Check. If no...turn back on/off. Check another.
Just a thought.
As I said...I cannot replicate the issue you have and it is clear that you have some settings on your device that I don't, so I'm kind of looking at this blindly

Ok ok. Thanks anyway ?
On a different topic, could you suggest me a good back cover and screen guard for the device.

No problem.
I still have the original case and film screen protector that came in the box.
Found the solution
This is pretty much a swipe up to trigger google assistant, it appears when you turn on gesture control and it's a prompt (albeit not a very good one) to make you understand how to trigger it .
Since you can't swipe up from the middle to activate the assistant you need to swipe from the corners , do so 5 or 6 times and eventually the prompt disappears.
