Video improvement - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Do you think that the 4k record on mate 10 will be improved by software updates (like what op did with op5's camera)? Actually the stabilization is terrible and it also seems to have problem with focus...

I think OIS is bad in Mates, compared to other phone I have seen on YouTube.

That's why I'm still not sure if i get mate 10 or pixel 2,the video is bad on mate series compared to other phones.

Right now I'm also not sure if i get mate 10 ,the video is bad on mate series compared to other phones. If anyone have any information please share us.

I don't think the video is bad. I think the OIS is not that good but hopefully that can be fixed in a software update. Who knows.

You said "not that good".. do you mean not that good when recording 4k videos ? As far as I undertand Mate 10 has digital video stablization only @1080P/30fps and not in 4K.

Focus issues when recording video at 1080p 60fps

Hi guys,
I bought the honor last week and i am so far very satisfied.
However I noticed, that the autofocus rarely works when recording 1080p (60fps) video.
At 90% it does not work at all (unless I touch the screen to focus on a certain point).
When recording 1080p (30fps) and 4K the focus works perfectly and the picture gets sharp without my intervention.
Did you notice similar behaviour on your Honor View 10?

Just tried it out.. No issues.. It focuses right without me touching the screen.. Which firmware version are you on? I'm on .140 (the latest I guess)..

Thanks for your reply. I´m on firmware BKL-L09 8.0.0.130(C432). I´m living in Germany and did not receive any newer firmware-update.

Honor does phased rollouts for their updates.. The latest one might come within a week or 2.. I'm not sure how the camera behaves in 130.. Maybe someone else will share their feedback [emoji106]

[Review] 960fps Slow Motion

Hi guys, in this video i show you the new 960fps slow motion feature on the Xiaomi Mi 8.
I'm using the Global Developer 8.11.29
Officially the Xiaomi Mi 8 supports up to 240fps but with the new updates we have the possibility to record at 960fps.
With this modality we can record about 5 seconds and the first seconds of the final clip will be played at normal speed and the final seconds will be played in slow motion.
The video quality is 1080p. So i was very excited...at the beginning.
But as i suspected... the video aren't in 960fps, but everything is slowed down by software.
So probably it's a 240fps fps slowmotion and then we have a digital editing that applies a kind of plugin, as the famous Twixtor and Optical Flow for computers.
So at the end the result is ugly too see and you need perfect conditions to achieve a good effect.

Not only Xiaomi is doing this "960 fps trick".

Question The camera on Mi 11i

What are your thoughts regarding the main rear camera on this phone? I assumed that it was worse than the camera on Mi 11 and Mi 10T Pro since the sensor is smaller in size and lacks OIS. However this youtuber claim that camera performance on 11i actually is better than on Mi 11. In the comparison below with Mi 11 Pro the difference was also smaller than I expected.
I have Mi 11i now. My first impression is that the camera is disappointing. Will probably send it back. Mi 10 and Mi 11 takes more detailed stills. But have to do some more testing.

Hi guys, regarding the main Mi11i 108MP camera, I'm curently strugling to find out a camera replacement, does anyone has an idea what model to use ? Any OEM reference ?
I have the Mi11i and the camera is great, what are u talking about? This is a budget phone, do u expect iphone 12 pro or S21+U quality?
The camera is better than these devices ive tested: S9+, OP7 Pro, A32 5G, OP 8T, OP Nord 2, Iphone 8, SE, X
Do you use the 108 mode and fiddle with settings? Or do u just use nomal mode and tap and take the photo? Thats not how u take a good photo, thats only for iphone (dumbed down os).
I find the camera fine as long as you do a little editing. Low light and night shots are a little iffy but you can still take great shots as long as you edit the photos. Photos in day light are fine. My old phone was an XS Max and the camera scores better than that in testing. Again edit the photos.
Pictures are almost the same as my mi 10. All ok.

I'm using mi 11i for 2 months and the camera quality is not good, autofocus is struggling in low light.
ofcourse it has no OIS so it ramps up ISO thus useless in low light
I have both Mi 11i och Xiaomi 11T in front of me. 11T takes much better low light shots compared to 11i despite having the same main camera sensor and Dimensity 1200 instead of SD888. Probably more optimized software on 11T.
Camera is good for me it takes good selfie and landscape shots. I was also thinking camera might be garbage and this phone can't be used for photography but I was wrong. It is not excellent nor garbage.
The Camera is good but the stock camera app is really bad, taking pictures with pro mode (manually) or with Gcam is astonishingly good.
but the main camera app over-sharpens and over processes the image resulting in noise.

About cameras, I'm disappointed by the 108 MP photos, as camera (digital) zoom is limited to x2, which is a shame in such a HiRes lens.
Try this!E

Question Recording 4K 60fps in 16:9?

According to TechNick's review video, Xperia 1 III has no option to record 60fps in full 4K resolution of 3840×2160 (16:9), but only cropped 3840×1644 (21:9), even in Cinema Pro. Is this true? If so, would there be any workaround to record 3840×2160 @ 60fps? I pray someone makes a mod to unlock this functionality.

mcpro24fps this one might help, i saw ssomeone mentioned about it on youtu.be
I am waiting om my shipment, so can not verify that is a solution. Sorry
There's a free and open-source solution if the camera hardware supports 4k60 - OpenCamera. Works great with recent Sony phones because there isn't too much proprietary stuff in camera hardware.
