Problem is to disable it not close, I always switch to maps to ride sharing app, and it's blocking everything and usually when people you map they are driving so clicking X all the time distracting and car moving to click a small X that is super tiny.

this name picture-in-picture.
to disable it go to apps & notifications, apps, settings, special access,picture-in-picture, disable the feature for maps.
good luck

Thank you very much. This help solve my problem too.
I agree with the open post that this new feature is very annoying which make no sense viewing the map in such a small floating windows but blocking everything.

thanks for this solution, another person here who finds this irritating.

am i the only one experiencing maps lagging when using it? i.e on turns the entire map jitters

Yup. Was the same on the mate 9 pro. Maps never worked that smooth.

In fact, I like this feature very much. The small overlay window can be moved everywhere around and is blocking nothing at all.
But on a Mate 10 Pro the implementation of the feature is buggy. The overly is on one position of the screen, but the finger input is somewhere else. I needed a few tries to find that out. So on the Mate 10 I would also suggest to disable this feature. But on any other phone it’s a great enhancement for Google Maps.

I have two Mate 10 Pro. Mine has the issue you mentions above (in Google maps the PIP initially will be in the bottom right corner, and once I touch it it will move to the top left corner and becomes unresponsive). Surprisingly however, my other Mate 10 pro doesn't have this problem (both phones purchased on the same day from the same retailer and have the same software build).
I tried resetting and formatting my phone with no luck!

Ok Google not working from lock screen or screen off

I went into google now search settings and performed the voice training and enabled the option for hot word detection from lock screen and power off but it doesn't work. the only time it works is when i'm at the home screen UNlocked OR at the google now search area. Screen off or from lock screen detection simply does not work.
does anyone else notice this?
I don't have the nexus 9 but I did install the latest google now search and launcher from apkmirror .com and there was an always listening option in 'hotword detection' in voice settings of the google now. There was also the screen off detection option but it was greyed out. I had the always listening in all apps option enabled and it was working greatly but the next day I woke up and the feature wasn't working so I went into settings and discovered that both of those options had disappeared (not greyed out but freaking disappeared), its some kind of google restriction, they are remotely restricting users from using these features for some unexplained reason.
Maybe its the same for u or it might be something else.
Same here, bit worked arter reboot
It works for a while after a reboot, but eventually stops working after a couple hours.
Looks like a common bug, I've seen some threads about this same issue (and I'm experiencing the same problem, too)
Ok, let's hope Google is on it

think about it...you're in your car, the screen times out and you want to make a call using voice recognition....so you have to unlock the screen and then use the voice recognition... sounds like a dangerous bug to me....serious liability IMHO

I know, but the N4 doesn't support the neccessary hardware for this feature. Only the N6 and N9 does.

there is an option in Google Now -> Settings -> Voice -> OK google detection ....a check box exists here stating:
When Locked
Allow "OK Google" to start a voice search or action from a secure lock screen
so, it would seem that this is what was intended. perhaps what they meant here was that the screen has to be on and not timed out. dunno.
Yes, but screen has to be on. Only nexus 6 and 9 support GN with screen locked and off
Google search from locked screen works for a while and then stops. It's done this on my s4 and note 3. It is defenetly supposed to work from secure lock screen. In Google now settings there is a 3rd check box and you even get a warning stating anyone may be able to unlock your phone.
Google needs to fix this issue. I'm not sure what's up with these companies making screwed up software. Where are the devs, and why are they getting paid if they can't make flawless software. When I crash My car into a tree trying to unlock my phone and I press a law suit against google I'll bet they will fix it. Always takes a law suit to fix ****.
Oh. Anyone notice every app you've ever paid for or downloaded is under my apps "all" what's up with "all" I'll file my documents in my office under the "all" folder and see how quickly I get fired...Thanks for allowing me to rant.
Happy new year!

notification app running background

hi all, i have problem with some apps like ACR (to register incoming and outgoing call) keepassdroid (database password), it remaining open in background absolutely without drain battery, system android notify me in status bar that theese apps are in background execution. how can i remove that notification?
I have the same problem. I found this app in another thread, but it only works for some notifications and not always.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iboalali.sysnotifsnooze
Would be interested in new ideas as well.
Sent from my ALP-L29 using Tapatalk
Have you tried to put auto launching apps in the battery setting to manual. It solved one of my problems so it may help yours too.

Did you try that?
When Android System notification is triggered Long press on "Android System" notification in the notification panel -> hit "More Settings" -> Disable "Allow notifications" and set "Lock screen notifications" to "Never".
It's from @jemeljsh look that thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74667287&postcount=3
For me that solution works better than installing a different app.

Somewhy ACR isnt working for me verry well, sometimes ACR causes me to hear nothing from other side, switching to loudspeaker and back fixes that, also verry bad quallity of recorded audio. Using another app works without problem.
Also autosync with google drive and acr doesnt works anymore, but was working on mate 9 pro without a problem :/
Actually verry dissapointed by huawei this time, no idea if its huawei sided problems or not, but still, my mate 9 pro feels way smoother than mate 10 pro..

Google Maps location "My Timeline" data all messed up

Google Maps has location tracking data under "My Timeline." Historically it has been super accurate, showing the roads I used even when driving long distances. I also always use Google Maps. Ever since I switched to the Mate 10 Pro, this data has been straight lines across 20-40 miles of distance and highly inaccurate arrival times. I thought it was just Google, but I switched back to an Essential Phone and it became perfectly accurate again. I'm back to the Mate 10 Pro and I hope it'll work now, but I'm not holding my breath.
I often use the departure and arrival times in My Timeline for work data, so I'd love if it worked. Any thoughts?

I have not, but I use Google Maps extensively and never had even the smallest problem with accuracy. Always follows the road accurately and instantly recognizes turns (unlike the built in GPS in my Lexus sometimes). The "My Timeline" data is often just a straight line between my house and my destination, even if it's across a bridge.

That's unfortunate. Will do.
Same here, whatever i tried didn't solve it (even clean cache and data).... Even tried disabling battery optimization settings on Maps and Google Services... Nothing. I also have indications that is has something to do with multiple google accounts (i find some locations being reported in some of my other accounts). Are you on a single account? But yes, same problems, straight lines, lost stops, no routes, getting stuck in one location for hours etc...
im only on one account. is there a bigger huawei users forum than this one and the huawei subreddit?

What for? Any particular reason? I have put everything to manual in Launch settings, and also almost every program to Ignore Battery Optimization. If your reasons are RAM, then i believe RAM exists to use it, not having it free all the time...

Because manual battery optimization is buggy right now.

In other thread here in XDA I've user said that putting chrome to be managed automatically did the trick.

I checked TimeLine today and since 27/01/2018, journeys are recorded with the correct level of detail again! Google Maps app last updated 04/01/2018 and I'm still on C432. No idea what changed to start TimeLine working again properly but obviously I'm really happy. Can anyone else report that journeys are being correctly recorded again?
Nope no change.
I've got the same issue. I tried all of the tips and tricks I found online to no avail. Mine just says No Visited Places. ONce is awhile it does show a place. It pisses me off tremendously. Google Timeline is a great tool to remember where you've been
If you can't remember where you've been then you have bigger problems than Google Maps not working properly!
Personally, I try to turn everything OFF that records location(s).

Just because it isn't useful for you doesn't mean it isn't useful for anyone else. I use it for work. Exact driving distances and times at clients house are very important.

Mini View: Does it work for you?

Has anyone has had good luck using the mini view feature under Settings/Display/More. I got it to work once in the two months I've owned the phone. I have the display set to default 2880x1440. Is it me not knowing how to swipe or does this just not work very well?
Works fine for me. But yes, you have to practice the right swipe a few times ?
Go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Services
Check is all off

I had the same issue. I turned off Amazon assistant and now it works.
Mini View Not working on LG G7
It is simply a matter of swiping VERY quickly
LG V30 mini swipe does not work
This feature wasn't working for me, but I figured out what was doing it. In my case it was LastPass, the accessibility being turned on under services in settings was the culprit. If you turn it off it works you turn it on it doesn't.

Last Pass has caused other problems too. A lot of people had to ditch it. Causes lots of lag. There was even a thread about it, besides comments in other threads when this phone was first released last year.
This phone is super smooth. When people complain they have lag, I always think "Are they perhaps using Last Pass?" Or either they disabled stuff that then causes lag.

is it Huawei or Android problem ? (Delay/Missing) notification

i just moved from Sony to Huawei last week . i got Mate 10 pro

then by installing my daily use apps i noticed some problems are showing and not only me as i sow some users here are complaining it .
it is killing all apps and get no advantage of any app i want it to push a notification and reminder for me .
actually any app i use for reminders and notification are not working perfectly
for example i have tried 3 apps for prayer reminders and non of them worked for a complete day , it works once and the next it gets another delay , and last it gets missed .
also i have a call recorder which is working perfectly on my Xperia Z3 but here it is not recording every single call .
also i have app called BlipBlip for hourly peeping ... same issue .

i tried to make the Ignore battery optimization
i changed the settings in Launch battery
still no luck

If you enable Power saving mode then your device automatically kills background applications.
Try by disable power saving mode.
In settings, You will also manage that which apps show notifications and which are not.
All customization of notifications are avaliable in setting e.g. Notification on lock screen, notification on status bar, status bar icon. Hope it helps. Hit Thankx

Have you tried by factory data reset?
I mean hard reset through stock recovery.
Be sure to remove your id otherwise you device stick in FRP lock.
Happens for me still with Disa (my facebook and sms messaging app).
It's really ****ty.
This is a hard one for sure! Is it Android or is it Huawei? I think it's a combination of both! We all shouted praise when we first heard of Doze...but now we curse the day we heard of it! LOL
On most of my phones I have had issues with Gmail notifications not coming in as quickly as I thought they should, and I still experience slight delays on my Mate 10 (non-pro) version. However, it seems that after I open Gmail for the first time in the day and get my first notification then it works OK for the rest of the day. My texts, using Textra, always come in right away and I have both apps set up the same way on the phone pertaining to battery, background, and notifications. So Gmail is the harder one to get working as it should. But is it Doze, or is it Huawei and EMUI? Personally, I think it should be left up to one or the other but NOT both! And whichever one implements a battery saving feature should provide CLEAR and CONCISE instructions on making it work the way we want it to. Huawei has implemented several convoluted methods to the way battery saving and notifications work and they are not mutually exclusive...in other words, they can conflict with each other...that is bad enough. But when you layer this ON TOP of Android's Doze (which has no apparent way to configure it) this just leads to a mess in trying to figure out what is causing the delays! So then, I feel that Android to needs to take control of this issue and force all OEM's to follow a standard for battery control so that it is the same across the board no matter what phone we are using.

This is not an Android doze problem. Its Huawei battery management process killing all running apps. I had a sony xz premium running Oreo and not a single problem. Now I'm using Pixel 2 XL and not a signle problem. Its definitely Huawei that restricts notifications due to battery management. This is what stopped me getting the Mate 10 pro. Awesome phone but with notifications not coming through makes the phone useless
I also had the XZ Premium and I agree that it did not have this issue. But my Mate 10 (non-pro) really does not have it that bad. I really do not even notice it. I do shut off my phone every night. I have said in many different forums that I feel that a daily restart of all cell phones is good for keeping things running smoothly. Takes a minute of your time while brushing your teeth in the morning. Maybe this will help someone with more serious issues??
cmon people ...it's not that hard
...go to settings - battery - launch -
from there you can disable or enable specific battery management for each app to be able to launch, be launched by other apps and run in background
they are set to to be managed automatically by default, any app you are having issues being killed just open the launch settings and set them manually.
I set this up when i got the phone and i never have any issues with missing any notifications that i want to see plus my battery lasts for 2-3 days.

do you really think we will post and we all agree on an issue with out trying all ways to solve it first ?
if you read my post will see that i already mentioned i have done something and didnt resolve the problem :
of course i am not using the power save mode ,
i put the app in the "Ignore battery optimization" list .
i put the app in the manual option in "Launch" and allowed everything to run in background .
i enabled the app in the n"Notification Management" section

cmon people ...it's not that hard
...go to settings - battery - launch -
from there you can disable or enable specific battery management for each app to be able to launch, be launched by other apps and run in background.

The problem with your reasoning is that Gmail is not listed there! This is the only one that seems to delay for me, but as I mentioned it is not that bad. Then again, I am not waiting for, or getting, anything in my personal email that needs super immediate attention. But there may be someone who needs their Gmail to notify them as soon as they receive an email. Thus the complaint!

i just moved from Sony to Huawei last week . i got Mate 10 pro
device is nice and battery is great and fast and everything was perfect with me from the first look.
then by installing my daily use apps i noticed some problems are showing and not only me as i sow some users here are complaining it .
it is killing all apps and get no advantage of any app i want it to push a notification and reminder for me .
actually any app i use for reminders and notification are not working perfectly
for example i have tried 3 apps for prayer reminders and non of them worked for a complete day , it works once and the next it gets another delay , and last it gets missed .
any permanent solution please ?

I'm not surprised with Huawei and notifications problems.... This 2 goes together.
First with Mate 8 the first 4 months, then with Mate 9 the first 2 months and now with Mate 10 pro as you mentioned
To be honest I have Mate 10 (no pro) and from the first day I didn't have any problem with "stock mail app, Facebook, Facebook messanger, Viber, Twitter, Instagram, whatsup, weather widget"
But please try this one.... It was the solution I follow with Chinese version of Mate 9 : Open every app that you want instant notification and "locked" it to recent apps and keep it there.... If you have already try this then there isn't much more to do so think of a hard reset or change device.... As for Android 8 I have a s9+ together with Mate 10 and both are manage notifications perfectly....

That is an interesting proposition! I have never used that particular lock before...in fact I can honestly say that at first I didn't know what you were talking about. I guess I never paid any attention to the little lock on those previously opened apps. Not sure if it will work yet or not but I did mention that after I opened Gmail the first time it appeared as if the notifications came in properly. So if this works then I should not have to open Gmail first thing in the morning to get the notifications flowing! Thank you so much for this suggestion! :good:
