No dev skills but I want to add a2dp bt to rom, how hard is it?. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have no dev skills but I'm curious how hard it would be to add a a2dp bluetooth profile to a old rom
the rom in question https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573449
Wonderful rom but every gear rom is missing this function so you can't use bluetooth headsets with them, i'm using my gear as a language learning device so i'd really like to find a way to add this to this ancient rom, should I just give up and buy a new watch or is it possible to add a2dp to it?.
Many thanks for any answers.

First time and 2 questions...

I just got my XDA II and loving it. This is my first post here, I've been looking for a great XDA site and now I found one.
First question is, how do you guys find all those ROM updates and Radio Stack upgrade? I have 1.60.00WWE and Radio version 1.08.00. Is there a new rom upgrade out there that I can't find in myxda.com site?
Second question, could I replace the Microsoft Bluetooth stack so I can use my bluetooth headset to listen to music or videos?
Thank you for your time,
Eberhard
I can answer the second question, the bluetooth on the xda2 does not allow listening to music through bluetooth headset neither has the full handsfree/headset profile been implemented. A very clever person has however written a program called pocket bluetooth tools which go some way to addressing some of the shortcoming regarding serial port profiles. Some of the later roms however have negated the need for this program. Run a search on this forum for "bluetooth", make sure you have an hour or two to spare.

Thanks for all the tips you guys given me. I tried bluetooth stack and so far it works.
As for the hack on the bluetooth, I'm going to try it now.
But it still don't fulfill my satisfaction as I can't listen to music thru my bluetooth headset, at least not with bluetooth tools.
Thanks again, I hope this bluetooth hack will solve my needs to listen to music over my headset.
what hack are you guys talking about ??
i ve installed widcomm stack and the kai patch. when the widcomm manager connects to the headset it gives beeping sounds but after i answer the beeps there is no sound on my imate or the headset..
what hack are you guys talking about ??
Well, I tried the Widcomm BT tools and the darn thing don't work. 2 Bluetooth Icon Appeared on the bottom and I tried to connect my Headset and it doesn't want to stay connected when I hit the connect button. It would sound on but then it turns off and I can't answer a call with it.
Does Widcomm BT has to be installed with the Bluetooth Tools?

Unusual request - Can I turn my Charmer into an MP3 player

Hi peeps,
My Charmer has developed a fault with the phone funtion, where you cannot hear or be heard except in speakerphone mode of via a head set.
This is under both T-mobile official WM5 ROM and a host of you good peoples WM6 ROM's
In the end I have had to resort to using an old Nokia phone to use for voice. But I still love my Charmer and wonder if it could be utilised as a stand alone MP3 player.
So my question to you ROM developers is... ...is it posable for you to cook a ROM based on WM6 but remove all traces of the phone facility and to load straight into HTC Audio Manager or Windows Media Player?
As a side question is it also posable to keep the use of Bluetooth for use with Wireless head phones.
Thanks in advance.
Sad Chamer onwer Tichy
Fido, you can cook the ROM yourself. First download the Charmer Kitchen.
Then edit an OEM ROM to remove all the other icon the the START menu (leaving only your custom skinned audio player).
There is a Bluetooth stack floating around in the other thread that you can use (created by Panasonic).
Its much better when you customise the ROM yourself. I doubt Vlodec or ChrBeck will have the time for your special project. This would be an easy ROM for you to cook, since you already have all the 'unnecessary drivers' (that you wouldn't use), while downloading only a themed audio player and new bluetooth stack.
Yea guy right. I don't have time and such a ROM can be cooked good by beginners. If you need help with cooking tell me I'll try to help.
Tichy, I'll cook the ROM for you. Give me the URL of the exact WM6.1 ROM, and your 'Media Player' of choice. I'll add the Bluetooth (stack), and have al the extra stuff removed.

The newest rom without samsung bluetooth stack?

Hi everybody,
I have been trying to find a 4.2.2 rom without samsung's bluetooth stack. But it seems none of the rom developers mention anything about bluetooth stack they use.
Why do i need such a rom?
Because I use bluetooth devices like wiimote and smartwatch.
Samsung bluetooth stack doesnt connect to wiimote.
It does connect to liveview smartwatch but customnotifier plugin doesnt work -which is a accesibility plugin forwards all alerts to watch-
And also when i enable that plugin talkback starts pronouncing every move i make... menu 1 page 2 etc...
So far, I found out that AOSP based roms like CM7 and MIUI was working fine with bluetooth devices. But that is really old information. Because it looks like nowadays all roms became a mixture of many source bases.
For example ASNET MIUI v5 is a combination of samsung and aosp sources...

[Q] Road Veles Android car stereo add bluetooth support?

Hello all,
I'm after a little bit of guidance on how I might add Bluetooth support to an Android powered Car stereo. It is a "Road Veles" single DIN WinCE and Android device with a 7" flip out screen. The reason I bought this stereo is to run an app by the name of MSDroid. This app was to connect to my vehicle's engine management system via Bluetooth.
Can't post links yet, easy search on Google for Road Veles, look for hit on Chinavasion
The specs say it has Bluetooth, but having tested the device out on the work bench what the specs don't say is that the bluetooth is only accessible for handsfree from WinCE, there is no bluetooth for Android. WiFi via USB dongle works great. I have purchased but not yet received a combined WiFi and Bluetooth dongle. I would very much like to have this combined dongle work with the device. The Bluetooth control is not visible under WiFi control inside settings like it is in my Android phone.
Can anybody point me in the direction of where to start with this? Can I root the device and mod to add bluetooth? Is there another ROM I could run? I have done a lot of searching but can't see much at all out in internet land on this stereo!
Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance,
Arran
Hi, I'm not sure how these sort of things usually work, what sort of dollar value would usually be associated with making a some tweaks to an Android build? ...
Hi again, still looking into this. Any ideas how to tweak the Android 4.0.4 OS to make bluetooth appear inside the settings menu?

Stream and play audio with Bluetooth through two Android devices?

I want to create an app to stream audio using Bluetooth from one Android device to another and have them both playing audio at the same time. I know that there are multiple apps that accomplish this with WiFi (like AmpMe), but a Bluetooth solution would be the most convenient. The BluetoothMusicPlayer app is the only one that does pretty much what I want but it's extremely buggy, and I've only gotten it to work for a few seconds.
From a post on stackoverflow, it looks like it's possible to make an Android device into an audio receiver through a patch on the Bluetooth package for Lollipop and later, but can it be done through an app?
(Since I'm a new user, I can't post the link to it, but the topic is titled "Android device as a receiver for A2DP profile" and the answer is by nilo.)
I'm fairly new to app development, but I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could lead me in the right direction.
Thanks.
