I wonder when will European model get support. Shame that the company discriminates it's users basing on the region, even though we paid more.

hmm hope its true but we will see
gogo Zte give it your best plz!

They don't. They are 3 separate teams. While the Chinese and US teams skip numbers (B32? A little bit too much?) our team doesn't. i meant that as proof that they aren't the same team.
Also, if the Chinese version gets O and ours stops being supported, we can just make a custom ROM and install it on our phones. I'm using MiFavor 5 right now on my G

MiFavor 5.2 android 8.0: A short video posted by the same user on 4pda.

I think Axon 8 or 9, whatever they will call it will be next year and we will see Oreo on all A7 variants. It's in ZTE's best interest to get Oreo out and try to keep owners happy and start building some brand loyalty to keep us from buying something else before the next Axon flagship.

Android 7.0?

I see android n was released today. aside from custom roms do you think theres a chance the 5x will get it officially?
Maybe, but not anytime soon, I don't think. Even with the XDA partnership with Honor, I'll say at least 3 months.

i think it would take time,huawei/honor has always been behind others considering updates.
lets see if partenship with xda makes any difference.
I dont think so we wait CM or other Custom Rom .....Huawei very late when to update ...
i would say yes. Nougat was will be the last update most probably this phone could get. It has everything it needs to support android N and moreover it was launched this year... So there are good chances that we will get android 7.
And here I haven't even got the MM update...:crying:

EMUI, at least two months.....a custom ROM, probably a month at max
Depends on your region. If you are in L21, L22 and L24 version you are likely to get it. And remember that this may be the last update which you will get.
The Honor 4x which came with KitKat is now running on MM. So hopefully Honor will update its devices atleast till 2 increments.

that means , A2017U (USA) and A2017 (Chinese) will get Nougat either this month or the next (December).
I can't say that I'm not a little bit disappointed by hearing January 2017. Being advertised as the first Daydream 'ready' phone, I had my hopes up for an upgrade closer to the Daydream-platform launch today..

If you didn't know Daydream requires Nougat and the phone initially ships with Marshmallow, I can see how that could be interpreted. I just knew it meant it will get Nougat eventually. The chipset is what is important. Older Qualcomm devices cannot support Daydream because they cannot meet recommended performance requirements.
Daydream actually required 7.1 version IMO.
And since 7.1 released couple of weeks ego that's mean
It needs at least 2 months preparation until OEM implement a newer version of Android.
So If US or Chinese version receive it within November/December it will be version 7 and that's not good sign/news at all.
So everyone hope ZTE bring 7.1 version(and NOT 7 i repeat) and doesn't matter who will get it first IMO.
It will be HUGE MISTAKE if ZTE not bring 7.1.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Indeed, let's hope they are skipping 7 and are putting all effort in a good working 7.1.
On official german Facebook page they say Daydream will be supported with Nougat update in January.

As long as ZTE involved to improve it via software.
But until now all Chinese haven't shown any skills for better software processing as for the camera performance.
Even Huawei lacking against top of the top Korean manufacturers despite being involved Leica.

There is a possibility we will see another camera improvement if zte implement camera2api in the nougat update, however i doubt this because the camera2api has been available since lollipop which has been around for years. On the bright side however they said they might add raw support which you need the camera2api for (unless they want to do a lot of coding themselves). So there is a possibility the camera might get better .

Honor 9 - Android 8 (Oreo)

Hello when do you get Honor 9 Android 8?
Will there ever be such an update date has there been declared for Europe I am asking.
It is in beta now, so I am assuming after it finishes that.

Guys I request everyone not to purchase these honor branded devices, even though they are marketed as flagship killers they won't receive proper updates once the device gets past the 6-9 month period, you can't even expect security updates one has to literally beg them, its better to purchase one plus, Samsung and Sony flagships because they are at least guaranteed to receive security update when ever there is a bug and proper OS upgrades, they ditched their flagship honor 7 from receiving nougat update stating Kirin 935 soc isn't compatible with newer update, similar lines this year they ditched honor 8 which boasts another flagship SOC Kirin 950 , stating the same reason its not compatible with newer Oreo update, so it clearly means that kirin 9xx is a flagship grade chip set series from Huawei which is not supportive for future upgrades? So is it good to buy them even after knowing their compatibility issues with future upgrades? I had invested 29k INR in Nov 2016 during honor 8 launch time, India and purchased this device over one plus 3T trusting their 2 year software update policy and security updates for every 3 months, clearly they cheated me and I regret buying honor 8 using my hard earned money instead of one plus device, so i request everyone to boycott honor devices, but the strange thing is honor mid ranges like 655 equipped devices are confirmed for Oreo, its a clear case of cheating to drive growth of newer flagships by ditching older flagships, Huawei as a brand itself has lot of conspiracies surrounding it, its better if we developer community boycott such brands, Good that US regulatory authorities are imposing ban on huawei, I can see the future of this company going down the drain in the similar way they expanded
I request xda please don't support this brand for monetary gains and spoil your reputation!

huawei have officially stated that the honor 8 WILL be receiving oreo,
as for the honor 9, it has full support for project treble once it gets oreo (suppose the honor 8 will have that too)
considering oreo beta 2 is taking place at he moment within Europe, i can't expect any more than 1 month until it at least becomes available in the firmwarefinder app
Wow, just wow. Are you on a spam tour? Why do you post this in every honor forum? To bad you're sour about not getting an update. Stop spamming.

Ok, i believe i was mistaken on that one, i was pretty sure i'd read that oreo beta was taking place on both the honor 9 and 8, BUT iv'e just checked and it turns out that the honor 8 isn't officially getting oreo.
Either way, as iv'e already stated, once official oreo for the honor 9 is out, and devs get hold of the source, since its a fully supported treble build, i can only assume the custom ROMs should start to appear.
The SOC in the honor 8 is not too different from the kirin 960 (going by the actual ARM cores used in it 4xA53 in both, though the 950 has 4xA72 rather than A73 in the 960), so i can't see there being too much difficulty in porting the source code for the 960 to the 950 (i'm not proficient in this topic, so please correct me if i'm wrong, I stick to application programming, not OS core stuff)
Either way, I HOPE with project treble porting to different CPUs should be easier than it is now (requiring source code from manufacturer etc...) and hopefully we see some more custom ROMs.
Just waiting for lineage 15...

EMUI 9 For Honor 9

Will the honor 9 get EMUI 9? Various reports differ.
They previously said honor 9 will get pie in a second wave.
First wave, for honor 10 / P20 and some others, is now advertised to be coming this weekend, at least for chinese firmwares.
I'd predict q1 of 2019

At least in Germany, maybe more european regions, a Beta is starting today, called DE-Honor9-EMUI9-FUT.
Seems to be limited to 200 users.
Same in Italy with a different name
So, the 200 slots for the German project are filled, now i am curious how this will work out.
Wonder if this is where we start to see project treble being used by honor on the 9

So far I know, treble was introduced with Android 8.0 (Emui 8) on this device.
Treble is being used. That's how I actually go a security update in the month it was issued. (377 on the 28th).

Is the image available somwere and is it possible to install without being a member of the beta group?
well I'm #2 in BETA-Slot and I'm still on "pending", didn't receive beta update yet.
I too had a very early slot (<10) in the beta-project, but right now i cannot even see it in "avaiable projects" anymore, which is a bit strange.
in what firmware you were before entering the beta program? i´m on 377 and the beta doesn´t appear to me.
I was on 377 too ... and unluckily, i still am.
The FR friendly user test also just disappeared from the Beta app. Currently 26 participants so I thought I would be in today
As for me, the (German) Beta still shows in the app, also the message that I applied and it's now on waiting for approval... which will probably never gonna happen, as it says, the 200 slots are already full.

I'm curious to see if this device and devices which got upgraded to Treble by Huawei will receive more updates than usual (2 major versions on high end/1 version in midrange-low end). If they will continue to follow the old trend, EMUI9 with Android 9 is the last major version upgrade this device will see from Huawei. After the bootloader fiasco they should support at least another major version, to make up for the inconvenience, but we are talking about a chinese money making machine, which only cares about money, so will see.

Considering the Honor 9 being a midrange product, i assume, the now coming second major update already is the "benefit" of project treble. I doubt a third one will reach us, but i would not mind being wrong on that point.

What makes a custom rom development possible?

Tittle says it all. Why pocophone as soon as september 2018 already had custom roms avaiable here on XDA and other phones such as Mi 9, S10, V20 almost 3 months since launch doesn't have any?
What makes it possible to develop custom OS and ported OS?
I really wanted to purchase a Mi 9 but MIUI is absolutely unbearable. Will miss so much OOS for Poco F1
Edit: Is it a long way to learn how to port ROMs, GSI to the point i can develop my own OOS for my desired phone?
It's about how popular the device gets. Pocophone is indeed very popular due do having flagship SOC for a very low price compared to Flagship phones. Also, Xiaomi made Source Code available literally after the phone launched. Good price, source code, popularity, attracts the developers.
Also, why do you miss OOS? It's still alive and being updated. Beta version for example. You just need to join their VIP section for some cheap monthly price and you're gonna get updates regularly according to the OOS dev for Poco.
