Redmi Note 3 not detecting wifi or sim card while setting up after MIUI 9 custom ROM - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I have earlier wiped all data from my phone unintentionally, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, after attempting to install MIUI 9 custom ROM through Recovery>TWRP. The installation was successful but then I couldn't get passed at the setting up of the device since it cannot detect any wifi available or detect the sim card inserted so that I verify the device since. I have also tried reinstalling through fastboot using Flash tool but I'm ending up with the same problem.
Can anyone how I can resolve the issue. I have not made any backups earlier.

I have had the same problem. Ich have an Redmi Note 3 SE and installed a Rom for Kenzo then i had the same problem. After installing a Rom for Kate the problem was solved. Sorry for my bad english.

But Kate is Special Edition, which is the right recommendation for your phone... I think. But I'll just try both Images. Thanks

If you want to try a kenzo rom, you just have to flash the firmware(Kate) after you flash the rom and all should work fine

is my phone rooted?

hello.
I bought my redmi note 4 SD online with global rom. it is on 8..2.5.0 stable. I have couple of banking apps from different developers and both are not working giving the error that the device is rooted.
i installed root check app and it is showing that the device is not. how to solve this issue? maybe the seller did something to replace chinese rom with global rom and it ended up like this?

There are many!
LineageOS, AEX, RR and etc etc are there, if you want customizations then RR or AEX otherwise LineageOS.
That's my opinion, there are tons of roms available, choose the one. Check the snapdragon Roms/kernels section.
Mokee seems to be good as well

Root Note 4X

Im having trouble rooting note 4x ( MIUI 8.2.10.0 Stable Rom ). Just cant get TWRP to install, when i reboot it goes back to default recovery. Phone is unlocked by the way.
Any advice please
You've got to unlocked it yourself. If its came unlocked, then you need to flash and lock it via miflash/fastboot. Then connect it to your mi account for 72 hrs (if you've got an account that's been approved for unlocking bl). Or you gotta reapply for unlocking bl from scratch.
Sorry didn't make it clear but it did unlock it myself. Wonder if it's got something to do with the version of global rom that's on the phone.
After installing TWRP directly Boot into TWRP. did you do that?

This ^^
Boot to TWRP right after installing twrp. Use fastboot command (fastboot boot recoveryname.img) or volume up + power key.
Got it sorted, like an idiot I was pressing volume down and power . Real NOOB mistake lol

I don't know, because I'm flashed it via OTA update and then download full ROM for others. You can try to install via TWRP, but you have to make full backup and save it, then wipe all data and install
HI. I have Chinese Mi 8 version with Unlocked Bootloader. Can i flash this ROM on Chinese version using TWRP? Please confirm. Thanks.

Could you please give more details?
What was your ROM before? 9.5.1.0 but which branch?
There was no Global ROM before so how did you update with OTA?
What about your data? All upgraded or all data lost after upgrade?
Thanks,

Global ROM with 9.5.1.0 was installed to chiniese phone by seller from ali express, mi global store, you can check it there. And all data ok
If that is the truth then it is wonderful. If anyone has tried installation successfully please guide to everyone. Unfortunately I can not unlock the bootloader because there is not enough time to wait.
Have fastboot rom ??
Guys don't install it if you bought a phone with chinese rom. This version what he shared is for people who already have the global rom on their devices. This is a recovery version we need the fastboot version to switch from china to global. ps: unlocked bootloader too

Ok, how did you manage to brick it ?
With Miflash tool V2, give me a error in the end and the good notice that "system has been removed".
After that were 4 days of pain...

Bricked Mi 9
Let me get straight to the point before I explain. I bricked my Mi 9 (had it for weeks but didn't use it till I got the bootloader unlocked) and it doesn't boot into TWRP can only get it to fastboot no matter what I tried so far. Installed an unofficial TWRP there are two types with practically 0 differences. This Mi 9 is the global version. 6gb 128gb storage
So I wanted to try Xiaomi.EU ROM as it's a debloated version as some would say. but that had a nasty camera bug, status bar notch looked cramped and unpolluted as they tried to minimise the bar. Some apps from the playstore wasn't installing like the DJI mimo app, it would just cancel halfway through the download. Then I completely forgot that my fingerprint scanner won't work on my banking app anymore, since the bootloader is unlocked. Google Pay also suffers from that and I know you can use magisk etc to sort out most of the problems like the fingerprint scanner and Gpay. So after discovering these issues, there are far too many to deal with now. I'll just go back and try something more clean and that's where all the mess began...
I haven't rooted in a few years so I'm very rusty at half the stuff that is happening. I know bits and bobs but that was with my Nexus and Pixel phones. Mi 9 is my first official replacement and I thought hey let's get back into mods etc. If only I had more knowledge on what to do. I will still try to figure it myself, so I potentially could help others but I fear I won't get far.
Anyways tried to get it back to run a beta version of the latest global or stable and so the last thing I did before all things went to . I went to TWRP and advance wiped dalvik, cache and data and was specifically told not to mark sdcard and another option which was there. (This was a thread I was reading, can't remember which site) now the phone completely 'ded' as in it is now stuck in the bootloop and doesn't go anywhere else besides fastboot. How I went about flashing TWRP and trying to install magisk was using the XiaoMiTools V2 which did some of the work (unbrick feature isn't available yet on the toolkit). But after the wipe I did, the toolkit doesn't recognise the device and MiFlash also doesn't seem to work although with that I think I get weird prompt like something didn't go well and I'm maybe not doing something right although I believe I have. Because the phone has been wiped I don't have ADB debugging on the device and I believe that could have been a solution for me to wiggle out of the mess. So I'm desperately looking for the community to help get my Mi 9 fully operational again. Anyone out there?
Only thing fastboot seemed to recognise is when I'm flashing the different two versions of twrp.img
Looking forward to your comments.
Hello friend, I have the same problem as you. `` The system has been destroyed''. I wanted to know which Chinese version you have used, because I have the EEA V10.2.17.0 and I do not know which Chinese version to use, the ones I downloaded have given me an error. Tell me who you used your thanks. If you could make me a little guide, I would be very grateful for more than 10 days without my mi9 .. @PRolo
I don,t have my pc with me, download the EEA original from Miui. And with Mi Tool Pro install that, follow the steps on link i put um the beginning.
If didn't work tell me and when I came home help you.

But what exactly did you do, I have tried it by all means and it does not recover from the brick I happened the same as you. And I've tried the tutorial and there's no way. You did the whole turorial? or just up to some step?
Hello friend, nothing is needed. He took it out of the brick. It is taken out only with the first step of the program. What the nose is because it did not work the first time I tried it. Greetings and thank you

Bit of an old post to reply to... But did you manage to fix your problem? Did you note down the build of the original ROM that was on your device in the first place?
Thanks for this post, sadly my new Mi9 is in the same condition. All I did was update to lastest EEA-ROM (which was offered automatically by system right after setup), registered for BL unlock and finally decided to Factory Reset and start afresh as did not recover data from my Google backup.
Right now I cannot use recovery mode as the recovery also throws the "System destroyed" error (presumably because the update did something awful with the recovery).
As the mentioned method does not work in fastboot mode I am a bit at a loss on what to do - besides waiting for the BL unlock timer to do its thing (which it hopefully will do despite the fact that I don't use the phone ATM). I tried a lot of tools and hints but so far with BL locked its a no-go

No, sadly I don't recall that. Presently I cannot recover any info on the version with fastboot getvar all, the fields are empty.
I think I can remember the update had something with a "9" or "19" in it - but the "9" would mean a global ROM instead of an EEA which I expected (the phone is marked with global, though)... I do recall Google Update is from 03/19...
Well, what a mess...
