Resurrected Kernel
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The purpose of this kernel is to provide a fully stable up-to-date kernel. The focus is quality over quantity, stability over every possible cherry-pick-able feature out there. Currently, it's only intended for stock based ROM's.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Features
+ Passes SafetyNet
+ Magisk works as intended (including modules)
+ AnyKernel2 format
+ WireGuard support (more info)
+ Disabled CRC's on data blocks (30% increase in performace)
+ Fsync On/Off support
+ Added additional I/O Schedulers (Zen, SIO, FIOPS)
+ Increased zram compression streams
+ Tuned adrenoboost (disabled by default)
+ TCP Advanced Congestion Control
+ KCAL Color Control
+ Sound Control (by @flar2)
+ Linux-stable (wip)
+ CAF updates (wip)

WiFi definitely works.
What device, ROM, current setup?
In some cases, you may need to uninstall Magisk and/or Xposed first, flash the kernel and let it boot once. Then flash Magisk and/or Xposed.

Is it only for 7.x.x ? Or does it work on 8.x too ?

Since there is no stock Oreo, the answer is obviously 7.x.x

I'm on stock rom, device - sanders... intially after installing kernel wifi was not working then i wiped data and installed magisk then the wifi issue has solved

I still cant get it to pass SafetyNet. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
I reverted back to stock.
Installed MultiROM TWRP and created a backup of stock to a secondary slot.
I installed the kernel and Magisk 14 on the secondary. After reboot to secondary , installed Magisk 5.4.3.
I run the SafetyNet and shows failed.
UPDATE:
Just to test, I installed the kernel and Magisk on the main stock and tested it. It passes. So it must have something to do with booting from a secondary. Thanks for the work on this!
UPDATE 2:
After reinstalling my apps, I went into Magisk and marked the apps that need root to be hidden. This is the same process as I did on AOSP roms. However, even though it shows passing SafetyNet, the app still shows that it wont run because of being rooted.
Update 3:
Nevermind, after rebooting it passes and I can run the app. Thanks!

No worries, I'll fix that in the next build, so you don't have to worry about editing anything before flashing.
Curious tho, look in system/build.prop, what does is say for...

If it worked with the stock kernel (on stock ROM), it should work with this kernel.
FYI, the kernel I have provided (for the initial release) is forked straight from Motorola's sources (kernel-msm). My plan is to bring the kernel up-to-date with CAF and Korg - linux-stable updates.
I will keep a version that is stable for everyone to use, as well as a bleeding edge beta version that everyone can use and test as I make my way thru the linux updates. I will add in extra features as we progress, but the most important thing is stability

Flashed and still don't have RW to /system, any idea why?
Does this haze doze feature? I've read that any custom kernel for 6.0 can't use the new doze feature.

Why not? this kernel has the same code than stock kernel (with little variations).

Pdesireaudio - FAQ
What is pdesireaudio?
192kHz 24bit audio playback, 24bit audio recording, and higher buffering on kernel
Interesting, how do I configure it?
There is nothing to configure, it should work out of the box
For advanced users, the sysfs paths are
/sys/module/snd_soc_wcd9330/parameters/uhqa_mode_pdesireaudio
/sys/module/snd_soc_wcd9330/parameters/high_perf_mode
/sys/kernel/sound_control_3/highperf_enabled
1 to enable, 0 to disable
Default is enabled at boot
How do I merge pdesireaudio into my code?
Pdesireaudio needs device tree and kernel patches, head over to my github https://github.com/anupritaisno1 to find out the patches you'll need
Wait! So what do I get to control?
Nothing in the case of audio, not to mention that audio is already a mess on op2
You still get basic sound control however
Got it? Anything I should watch out for?
Pdesireaudio can technically work in a ROM that doesn't support it however if you flash anything other than ARISE, then you'll break pdesireaudio completely
Nethunter support
Flash SuperSU
Put a su script to run supolicy --live "permissive *" at boot
That's it?
Interactive governor tweaks?
I use glassfish and most of my testers seem to like fairparkhe
Hotplug?
I just turn it off
Thermals?
Usually turn everything off here too
GPU settings?
I normally don't change anything here
Screen?
Here are my settings
R: 256
G: 250
B: 241
Saturation: 35
Value: 124
Contrast: 128
Hue: 1
You are working hard
Thanks

Yes, you need to tune it a bit in kernel adiutor
Also that is a "power efficient workqueue", it does nothing by itself if your configuration is set to consume too much battery

I don't think that's the greatest idea as faux sound is notorious for being buggy/breaking **** when not implemented properly.
An alternative would be boeffla sound or something, I'll look for an alternative and contribute it to this project.
@stefx98 as @_LLJY said I will explore other options
Ok, keep up your good work

Fauxsound is dead since Marshmallow, it is now deprecated, and should not be used.
I read about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65346831
It says that fauxsound is bad for the kernel.

Don't know if its easy to implement but UV (under volting...) would be nice as well...
Otherwise I'm with you... Some Govs, some I/Os, OC CPU/GPU and done...
But take this as an future suggestion. I'm still not using LOS so I have no vote here actually

QC2.0 is under testing right now . I do not have a QC charger so I have to rely on other's testing.
Yes. Ive tried applying the patches .... Spent 8 hours trying to do it and I got tonnes and tonnes of errors . Ill try again some other time.
Custom kernel for LOS, nice one :victory:
As for new features, from top of my head:
1. Intelliplug hotplug (MPdecision is terrible)
2. GPU lowest freq 27mhz
3. Adreno idler (I saw you mentioned it already)
4. Simple GPU algorithm (by faux if I recall correctly)
Those GPU features should help to improve battery life, as I think the Simple GPU algorithm keeps GPU freq at lowest (27mhz if included) while using the phone, as opposed to 200mhz which is the behavior ATM.
I can't test the kernel sadly since top of my touch has stopped working (was unglued before - f*cking Sony) and I'm in process of selling it, I might go with another Z3C again, however I'm leaning towards Z3, anyway this suggestions should further improve the kernel.
Cheers

1. Sure
2. I have just changed lowest to 100mhz rather than 27mhz ... Just to suppress the lag. Ofcourse it can be changed
3. I actually have mentioned that I won't be adding adreno idler. Took me several tries to get compile with it... And when I did, it didn't work properly . :silly:
4. Yup. That's a good suggestion ... Though I'm not sure, I might have added it already. The feature list is what I remember adding. You can look at my GitHub for all the features.
That's sad. I had the same issue and got it replaced under warranty . My battery has actually weakened drastically. So I have upgraded my device and given the z3c to my brother (getting battery replaced soon). So the z3c is my main Dev device for now
I hope you can get it fixed

IMHO,
Closed source SuperSu (since v2.76* approximately. was the last by the real, Chainfire after he sold it to CodingCode, who nobody knows) is both a privacy and security concern: SuperSu now belongs to CodingCode which is a subsidiary to a large global telecommunications company, JJWorld Network Technology Co., LTD. Beijing China. I don't trust it and why the secrecy. This is the reason behind the sudden rise of both opensourced: Pierre-Hugues SuperUser and TopJohnWu's Magisk Manager. (Both rapidly playing catch up)
I would never give administrative rights to an authority I do not know, use at your own risk.
[emoji7]
*Some v2.76 stable were being supplied by Chinese website's even before Chainfire had officially released his v2.76, due to a communication error and without his knowledge, and had contained a bug that v2.76 was designed to fix.

Flashing magisk or anything that involves patching is an issue now. I'll try to fix it ASAP.
New Build out:
-QC2.0
-Changed Min GPU Frequency
-Fixed issues with installing Magisk and other boot image patchers
thanks for your great job. i wonder, is it hard to make it flashable zip? cause it's more practical from adb..

sorry for that. but magisk v20.0 broken on A50 kernel I really don't know why it happens, please consider using the default version that comes in the zip
Kernel works perfectly. But I lost root when I flashed this kernel and no matter what I do I am unable to get it back. Uninstalled magisk, reinstalled and still nothing. Any ideas? And no I'm not using Magisk v20. I'm trying with 19.4.
Edit: Got root back by extracting the boot image from the zip and patching it in magisk and flashing it via twrp.
Hi, how can I contact you? I am getting some errors during boot. I can send you my boot log

Hello, thanks for your contribution.
I want to test your Kernel, but I want to know if it will be compatible with the LightROM custom ROM ?, I am currently installing the V3 of it and wanted to know.
Also, I wanted to give an advice where if it would be possible to add a volume control in future updates, in order to increase the earphone gain, that would be great. Thank you very much for the illusion of having more and more support.
Plz patch for kali nethunter or andrax plz

But there is an odd message just after boot saying there's a problem with the phone (one of Jarlpenguin build's had the same issue for a moment).

Its not that high cost of better performance. Will take care of it when i have time
I noticed a better battery life and a possibility to dim screen on kernel settings, which is nice. Thanks for your working on it.

Thanx!
FYI the nontreble version sends my device in a bootloop on your lineage 16 build. The previous boot.img worked, so I assume that was build for treble.. (I was under the impression that development for treble had ceased)

The current lineage 16 builds are treble, everything else isn't (Gsi images installed on top of Lineage 16 also count as treble)
Post updated. Added new compatibile rom and GSI to list
I installed lineageos 16.0 (jarl version) with the treble kernel and everything is working perfectly, however an error message appears whenever you turn on or restart the device:
"There is an internal problem with your device. Please contact the manufacturer for more details."
Thanks
