Can anyone share some opinions about smart resolution based on he's usege,just I'm curious how is better with or without that toogle and is for real helps for battery life.
I was also curious about that .... I have used smart resolution since the beginning and now i will change to fhd+ to see if i get a dip in SOT.

my mate 10 pro is New, I take it yesterday, using smart resolution for now, test fhd+ later
I am using smart resolution, and I am wondering the same. How is the results from the experience from using FHD+?
Maybe it switches to 1080p when you play games. That's the only reason that I can think of that would help prolong battery life.
I'm using Smart resolution too and to be honest I don't see any big difference from my day to day use using FHD+
Regular mate 10 here and I see no difference when using smart resolution. The only time I noticed anything was when watching a video with numbers in the picture...the numbers were a little jagged along the edges whereas the rest of the image stayed the same. Changing to the highest resolution made the numbers sharper/smoother while the rest of the video image remained the same...to my eyes.
i only use HD+ and its still sharp as ****.
hd+ is more then enough for me.
I changed it from smart to FHD+ and have not noticed any big hits on battery life. Still goes a whole day with 5-6+ hours of SOT

I'm just writing this to share my experience of the Galaxy alpha, I'll keep updating this as I think of more stuff to write. I'll also post pics when I can
But first I got to say this is an amazing phone, especially at the price I got it for, $270 new for the 850A,
I'm most impressed with the battery life, I average about 3 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time, and that's over 12 hours, right now it's at 11 hours with 1 hour and 30 minutes of SOT, with 53% left, If I push it I can get 4 hours SOT
Also I'm also surprised with the display, I came from a G3 with a 2K display, and before that an HTC One, you do notice the pixels about 6 inches from your face, and you shouldn't have it that close anyway, at about foot away it looks as sharp as my mom's G2
I'm not terribly impressed with the camera
Its takes very good photos outside, better then the G2, but in low light it's probably the worst I've ever seen
But one positive is the camera lens, it's very scratch proof, my mom and I got our phones at the same time, and used them the same, hers is full of scratches (my G3 was the same) and mine has not one speck
That's what I'm going to write so far, let me know if you have questions, I'll keep updating this thread with pics and more stuff I find to write about,
I also came from the G2 and I think the upgrade to Alpha is really good.
The best thing about the Alpha is its responsiveness (especially in lollipop) is the closest to an iPhone i've seen from an android device. It also kills the g2 in gaming---try running GTA San Andreas on G2, its hardly playable.
FOr the screen, I love the AMOLED Contrast but the resolution is horrendous due to the pentile display halving the already little 720p resolution. I really hope they atleast made it 1080p.
I also think the size is perfect. Onc eyou go back to smaller form factor you realize that the large size is overrated and you dont really need that much large device.
Low resolution was great choice from samsung if you dont use binoculars when you're using it you can't discover anything. Also it affects great buttery life so if you want sharper display (my opinion is that is unnecessary ) take g4 or something with this absolutely unnecessary thing .. also the performance is better cause the cpu dont have to count so many useless pixels like with fhd or 2k ...

I agree. I still prefer the amoled of the alpha overall since it really has great visibility, viewing angles and colors. The best thing is the responsiveness of the alpha due to the 720p.

If I hold the G2 and the alpha about a foot from my face you can't tell the difference, but I'd rather have a 720p display then 1080p just for the battery life, I think anything over a 5 inch display should have 1080 though

Agree that Camera is a little off compared to S5 it is probably same sensor as S5 BUT Samsung intentionally dumbed it down to 12 Megapixels to not compete with S5.
For low light indoors- move exposure to plus two (+2) AND use picture stabilization BUT picture stabilize takes a lo-o-o-ong exposure so rest the phone on something while you hold it and voice actuate to avoid motion- still not great like S6 but much better.
That is the question.

Deciding factors:
1. 16:9 aspect ratio;
2. High screen to body ratio with large usable screen area because of option to not use on screen buttons which would otherwise eat one line from the screen; <—this one is actually the most important one since mate 10 gets overlooked, since its seems that its “just” 5.9” but its fckin 5.9” in 16:9+no buttons. It much more usable screen than sausage style note8,s8 pluses..
3. Headphone jack;
4. Expandable storage.
Pro is just plain stupid and a failed model IMO. Even if you do like the 18:9 aspect ratio, mate 10 pro imo sits in third place in such category behind s8+ and v30 (even with that amoled lottery)

I also have a very close opinion.
But I'm a bit worried about battery life.
Non-pro is qhd and LCD. Probably, it's the most power hungry.
Anyone know how much SoT non-pro versions are getting?

From what I have gathered through youtube (mostly spanish reviews) non pro is getting 4-6 hours of soton heavy usage with one reviewer pointing out that one of the latest updates improved battery life where his ~SOT on mate 10 went from ~4,5h to 5,5-6h of sot. Nothing special, but also not the worst of results.

In comparison, do you know how much are getting the owners of Mate 10 Pro?
Battery life is very important to me.
Your information kind of let me a bit down, cause I heard that Mate 9 owners used to get 7-9h SoT.

In settings you can change it from QHD to FHD so in the end it will be just like the Mate 9. That should help battery.
I ordered the non Pro version especially as you can hide the on screen navigation buttons and use the fingerprint sensor as gestures.
I voted for (and bought one) non pro because of its 16:9 ratio - screen is just wider and it's very helpfull for internet browsing etc. Looks and feels beautifully.

Where did you buy it from and which model do you have (Huawei Mate 10 ALP-L09, ALP-L29, ALP-AL00) ? How is the scrolling smoothness on it ? Like scrolling smoothness in add full xda when browsing with Chrome? Any choppiness? How is the overall feel in terms of performance, RAM management (app reloads) and so on?
I get the loss of SD card annoyance, though mainly just for ease of initial setup mostly. Headphone jacks never mattered to me though. I do prefer 16:9 but that ship has sailed and you get used to it (2:1) quickly enough. Resolution I don't get, past 1080P (or ratio equivalent) I think it is just a waste, a marketing gimmick that sucks power to no real advantage.
With the non Pro, the look with more traditional bezels and the home button is just dated to the point I can't get past it having used and S8+, Mix 2, and V30 the last several months.
So, all that said, the only real disappointment with the 10 Pro to me is the loss of SD card (and no wireless charging).

Non Pro? Did you have it on QHD or dial it back to FHD?
I am tilted to the pro because form factor is important (fit in my hand and futuristic look) and that amoled display (and even the midnight blue color). External memory not an issue as I currently use a phone which has 128gb internal + extendable slot and yet its almost 70gb free and I have never had to use a memory card for past 1.5 years of using current phone.
Lack of headset Jack not a deal breaker and I'm hoping I can adapt to it. IP67 does not factor in my reason to buy pro. The front FP on regular could tilt me towards standard mate 10 as I have grown tired of lifting phone off my desk. But most reviewers seem to like the rear FP and I have never used a front FP on a big phone, so I have to think again about FP location.
And yea again I'm picky about form factor and build and so I'm not happy that the pro has a 0.7mm larger side bezels and more black border while the standard mate 10 has incredible small side bezels with black border almost not visible. Lol. Also the shriller loud speaker than standard mate 10.
All that said, its obvious that the pro version cannot be declared as a clear better deal and there is lot of give and take going on and the advantages of the pro are not too far apart from standard Mate 10. The Mate 10 pro to me really has to justify itself of the higher price tag (most will buy the 128 gb Mate 10 pro as there is no external memory). So I will only buy after holding both hands on side by side and seeing real advantage with pro version in form and display (and battery life).
Standard Mate 10. The deciding factor for me is LCD vs AMOLED. Yes, AMOLED looks amazing with it's saturation but the risk of burn in and degradation isn't worth it to me. I know the technology has improved over the years but both still occur, sometimes much sooner than expected.
Standard Mate 10 isn't available in most countries...
About battery live: normal use >> almost 2 full days with around 5-6 sot
Heavy use is ending the day with +/-30% left and around 8hours sot.

With the 10 you're basically bezel free anyway, unlike the OP5 and the HTC U11 - that skinny tall stuff is OK at first it seems, until you start using it.

I prefer the non-pro version as well. I need the sdcard slot and audio jack.
If I change my P10 Plus, it will be for the Mate 10 Pro. As I see QHD as a waist of battery and resources and I like AMOLED and its colours, deep blacks and general battery friendliness. Also ergonomic are big plus to me. 128 GB storage is enough for me, especially since Google Photos backup works great I don't need SD Card. I am going wireless headphones and the headphone jack is not needed for me anymore.
Will wait few months and see how the display is holding and check the long term reviews.
I think I expected more from the camera and the AI thing as it was made a big deal of them and a lot of hype was created...

You do realise you can change it from QHD to FHD in settings and leave it like that for all your use?
Yes. But it is not the same. Read about it here on xda. Native 1080p kills downscaled 2K screen to 1080p as 2K to 1080p pushes the same amount of pixels, you can't change physically the nunber of pixels with downscaling. On 2K screen downscaled to 1080p there is almost no difference in battery life - search with google. Native 1080p amoled just kills 2K LCD on battery (even downscaled to 1080p).

HDR Content with the combination of 1440P on youtube looks crystal clear. It is Definitely Beautiful.
Easily the best screen on any phone or tablet. Haven't seen anything even on paper even close.
The clarity looks awesome but FHD+ looks a bit down and when you go up to WQHD+ the battery consumption is crazy.

I didn't found some big differences with battery life using FHD+ and WQHD+...
Running few days on each one the difference between them was in range from 1hr02min till 1hr45min with battery usage... I mean for example time between charging on FHD+ was 18hr35min and on WQHD+ was 17hr20min with the same time frame...
I feel like the display quality is smooth, too smooth perhaps.
Things do not seem as crispy like on other phones like the 2 year old Galaxy s7
Is it just me or does it seem that the Note 8 has the much better display than the Note 9? As the Note 9's display seems to be brighter than the Note 8 while the overall visual quality is good. It is just the brightness even when the brightness is adjusted the same as the Note 8's display is much brighter than the Note 8.
I was just wondering what display settings does everyone use and how to get the best performance out of the display. If anyone can tell me all the things to turn on and off for getting there, it would be great.

Do what makes sense for you. I keep mine on HD+ (720 pixels in the short direction) because my eyesight isn't great and I can't tell the difference. Samsung pushes the higher resolution because it looks good on paper (specsmanship), however I am doubtful that most people (even with good eyesight) can tell the difference between FHD (1080) and WQHD (1440) pm this size phone.
Other people don't matter, check for yourself. I would look at straight diagonal lines and text. If it looks jagged, then go to higher resolution. If not then try lower resolution.
There is a small battery gain from using lower resolution. You can see what Samsung thinks the battery gain is by going to the battery power saving screen and note the savings projected in the "apply" button at the bottom. Change the screen resolution and the projected savings in the apply button will change immediately. The change in projected savings between two modes presumably represents the difference in power consumption that Samsung estimates. For me it is rough ballpark 10 minute life saving from 1440 to 1080 and another 10 minute saving from 1080 to 720 (when checked with battery near full)

I was referring to display performance, which includes having the best visually appealing display settings. I do not care about any benchmark scores. I believe most people have stopped caring about that a while back.

Thanks. I do keep my resolution at WQHD at all times. I was wondering about all the other settings such as Settings -> Device Maintenance -> Performance Mode -> High Performance (I've heard this is needed to get the best display) and other things such as what screen mode looks the best and most saturated (Adaptive, AMOLED cinema, AMOLED photo, etc.) or if there are any other settings.
Guys what settings you keep in adaptive display?
The difference between HD and wqhd is easily noticeable, I have mine on mac settings and the screen is stunning

I´m considering to buy this phone and need some input from owners.
1. How is the battery life SOT on 90 HZ ?
2. Is there any EIS in 4K?
3. Is the Display brightness enough to use the phone i direct sunlight?

Brightness is lower than the competition. If you need a bright display you can use in sunlight outdoors, buy a different phone.

How about 4k video and battery life?
Sot in 90 Hz is about 10% lower than automatic one. I use the smartphone principal for gaming and I obtain about 9 hour of sot.
The display is not really bright and usable under sunlight but is pretty good .
I don't use a lot camera for videos... I'll try and tell

Got the phone and I'm positively surprised!
Great stability in 4k to.
Battery life is too early to tell.
I started getting 8+ hours of screen time over 45 to 48 hours on a single charge.
On 90 Hz.
