Phone Mockup - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Soooo.... what is the app of choice these days for doing screenshot/phone mockups? I've been out of the loop for a while. Screener and PSS don't have Note 8 frames that I can see.

Nexus 10 vs Nexus 7(or any other tablet/phone) comparison/discussion

Thank you!!!
We have a similar thread in the Nexus 4 forum and it's one of the more popular threads continually on the first page.. Currently up to 162 pages in length.. Glad to see it done here now as it really does clean up the forum in a good way.. :good:
Nexus 10 - alot of problems / alot of units with problems . I didn t expected to be that heavy.
Nexus 7 - bulky, heavy and something its missing for me to like ... i don t know what ...
Ipad mini - very interesting all around . Ugly ios ...
Ipad 4 - very heavy but supreme build quality . Excelent customer care . You see a problem and they change the device instantly . Ugly ios gives me claustrofobia..

Anyways is the nexus 7 a lot better then the note 7 because my mom got an 8gb note 7 for 140 dollars as a gift for our cousins we only see in the summer because they live overseas. Also does it have sd card support because she wont let me touch it and 8 gb seems like a low amt for a tablet

[offtopic] to make it short nexus 7 is better than any galaxy tab [\offtopic]
Nexus 10 has good specs etc.. but is too big and heavy for me, so i decided to buy n7.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 7
I own both so here is my 2 cents...
The N10, for me, is better all around tablet. The screen is far better, it's thinner, faster and smoother than the N7, and the front facing speakers are great. The N10 also has a micro HDMI port for connecting to projector for work presentations. Battery life is great.
The N7 is of course more portable and can be palmed in one hand. the battery life is also good, but not as good as the N10.
Anyway, I basically gave my N7 to my 5 year old daughter.

I have the nexus 7 and nexus 10 and I don't know what problems your speaking of with the nexus 10 but mine works fine. The nexus 7 is a little chunky but it feels good in the hands. Both are nice tablets. The screen on the nexus 10 looks really good. There's times it lags but I think it's bc of the higher resolution

Problems like : Subit restarts, 400 ram free , 5 hour charging , screen bleeding , 5 hour screen on battery , incompatibility with many 3g modems, hdmi aspect limitation , gets very hot etc.
You can look at the troubleshooting thread in nexus 10 if you are curious .

I still would say that your issues are a physical PROBLEM with your Nexus 10 - I don't see how you could have such a bad experience with it compared to many others without there being hardware issues. The battery life, especially; even the restarts. I've heard of others having restarts, but you seem to be having more issues with it than other people.
As for charging times, 5 hours is normal. The iPad charges no faster, really - the fastest charging tablets are by ASUS, 1.5-2 hours to a full charge. THOSE are good chargers. This is lower amperage, as it is a standard USB cable. The Nexus 10 also has a massive battery.
ipad charge faster and last longer .
too bad IOS ruins all
from what ive read 5 hours its with pogo cable , i get 6 with usb charger . I will not give 20$ on a plastic 50cm with 2,3 wires inside .

This was a rather dull idea imo, to merge all comparison threads into one, say I wanted to know about a single tablet comparison now I have to go through the whole clutter just find some useful input, thanks a lot.

It is blatantly obvious from your numerous posts that you despise the Nexus 10, but that is no reason for you to make stuff up. My wife's Ipad 4, and all of my friends that have them all report over 5 hour charge times.

where I stuff up ?
nexus 10 beats ipads at OS, sound and screen format . thats all . build quality and details that make your life with it , are very bad from my point of view in compare.
sorry for saying my oppinions that you dont like ..
Brees , you also love nexus 10 unconditionated and you don t see the problems because its the first device that makes the things look like they should be but i want much more from this experience ... i don t want infantile issues with a device for what ive payed 550 euro in 2013 wtf .
I hope also that google makes the next device better in every way but be carefull to the QC also . It has the power and i m shore it will in the future but now this device has problems .
Nexus 10 its just a " nice try "

Nexus 10 beats iPad hands down for me, only 3 downsides for me ATM:
1 it's all plastic ky, solved by nice colourful case (unfortunately lack of decent non leather cases mind you)
2 battery charge seems forever... Although I have been using quite heavily while charging which won't help charge times
3 no lovefilm Player ATM for android devices... But that's supposedly going to be fixed soon anyway
So pretty much nexus 10 kicks ass lol
probably a better bet is to wait for what google has to say at there I/O event. Many reports saying a new nexus 7 with hd display. I'll probably go for that as they are also reporting the same $200 price point with snapdragon processor.

Great tablet... but not a N10 as it blows it away, but that's comparing apples to apples, it is a great tablet but OP is asking about the next nexus tablet and the transformer doesn't compare not even compare
Had a breeze through the thread and didn't find the answer I'm looking for. Just wondered if there was anyone who had gone from the iPad to Nexus 10 and preferred the Nexus? I'm currently using an iPad 4 as my main tab, but have an itch for the N10 however don't wanna get burnt. Had numerous Android tabs in the past before giving in and getting an IPad, as at the time they were just far superior to anything in the Android sphere. My jailbroken iPad 4 is an absolute joy to use and gives me outstanding battery life, just obviously sucks for video and I am an Android lover at heart. Anyone jumped to the N10 and actually prefer it?
Regards.

less than 2 years since the i777 release

Weird.. just checked the release date of the i777 and it's been less than 2 years.. Oct. 2011. Feels like at least 4 years. I broke my Note2 and had to break out the old i777 till the next slew of releases(I have an LG G2 on order). Anyway I installed Shostock3 on the phone.. installed Apex launcher and it appears to be stock android 4.1.2. Slick as snot! For average use it seems close to as peppy as my note2.. also after disabling a few things the battery lasts me through the day on a charge.. but just barely. Definitely a good back up phone. When it was released I would have never thought the Super Amoled Plus screen would be showing it's age.. but it's starting to.. must be the resolution. Can't beat XDA and the support here for our devices!:good:
Yeah I'm still on contract with the gs2 and waiting for it to expire next month. My screen looks so bad compared to the nexus 4 or even another oled in the moto x. Way over saturated. I have two s2s, so when the nexus 5 comes out I can replace the 2nd one (got the nexus 4 last week on sale).
Amazing how long 2 years is. I got it first day it came out, Oct 6 I think. I was the first person in that best buy on Saturday morning.
Hopefully the nexus devices will last longer. With 2gb of ram on newer devices, I can't see a day when they will be too slow/old to get updates, unlike my old droid eris.

Thinking of returning new Note 7 in favor of iphone 7 plus.... somebody smack me

I have both phones in hand. I rooted my new Note 7 and have my usual apps installed. The reason I absolutely have to have root is because I have to edit the Build.Prop to make the phone look like an S6 Active to ATT's enhanced push to talk server so that the PTT app will work. They are about to update their server to support the iphone 7 and plus version. With that said I have to admit the Note 7 features are superior to the iphone 7. Better camera, wireless charging, QHD beautiful amoled display etc etc etc. The problem is the phone is not even remotely close to being as smooth as the iphone 7/Plus. Half the time if I have Waze running and i want to exit the app and hit the back button it does nothing. I have to force close the app. Bluetooth can sometimes take a minute to connect. Sometimes I have to rebooth the note 7 before bluetooth will connect. I have been running into some slight laggyness here and there. My Nexus 6p is MUCH smoother and much better operating phone than this Note 7 is.
The iphone 7/plus is just fast and silky smooth. The new wide gamut display is much better than last years display. Not quite as rich and vibrant as the Note 7 display but still very good. I might keep the iphone and return the note 7. Somebody smack me and wake me up or something! I have never liked iphones and still really dont like ios but it just plain works very smooth and fast compared to the Note 7. Somebody talk me out of it!
My wife has a iPhone 7 plus. Not going to do it. The Note 7 looks way better and has bigger screen in a smaller form factor. In my opinion it's better than three icrap!
I checked the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus out while I was waiting on my replacement Note 7. You're right, they're smooth, but so is the Note 7.
I couldn't get past the fact that the 7 Plus looks like very bulky next to a Note 7. It felt terrible in hand compared to the Note 7 and I was not impressed with the larger gamut display at all.
I was looking for a change, but that wasn't it.
I would never buy an iPhone 7. I like having a headphone jack AND a stylus that stores in the phone.

I really dont find the Note 7 to be very smooth. At times it is and other times it is laggy. Maybe it is root that causes it im not really sure or maybe I need to let the phone settle in for a few days? Also the battery so far sucks. Been off charger since 5:20am and it is now 10:32 with 67% battery left. Ran waze on my way to work for 20 minutes and thats all the use the phone has had today.
iPhone 7 has a 720 p display Note 7 has a 2k display. also the Camera is still batter on the Note 7, and so is the battery life. The ONLY reason to get an Apple product is if you are sucked into their software environment. If you have Apple computers, Apple TV, etc then it makes since otherwise you will constantly be dealing with incompatibility issues and it will be a huge pain in the ass. Also NO BODY wants to have to install iTunes on their computer.

I have the iphone 7 plus. The screen is sharp and the colors are richer than the 6s plus was but nowhere near what the Note 7 is. I hate everything about apple from the way they try to integrate everything to everything being locked down to the proprietary hardware. I also hate IOS. With that said here is an example of what I am talking about on the note 7 being laggy at times.
https://youtu.be/S0bBJ3tWSL8
After shooting that quick video I installed trickster mod and was looking around. I decided to change the I/O Read ahead buffer size from 256 to 512 and that seems to have smoothed everything out. I will play with it some more and see if that is a fluke or it actually helped. I hope it did because I like the Note 7 MUCH better except for the random laggyness.

hmm I have had no issues with my Replacement Note 7. I am wondering if due to the battery defect in the old unit somehow the CPU was not getting a constant flow of power and that was causing the random lag. The new phone DOES NOT HAVE ANY LAG. It flies and the battery is WAY better. Today is my first full charge post update, but its been off the charges for 12 hours and is at %79 battery still.
1 hr 20 min of SOT as well. WAY better than the old Note 7 was.

Yes I am rooted. I have to root in order to modify the build.prop to make the phone look like an s6 active to att enhanced push to talk server or else the push to talk app won't work.
I got the lag fixed though. I cranked up the IO to 2048 and turned off animations. What a huge difference!

Why I Got A 2nd Nexus 6P...

So something was on my mind and I thought I would spill on XDA...
Im a phone junkie. Ive probably had most major flagship devices pass through my hands. But theres something about the 6P.
6 Months ago in May i got my first 6p. I am also a guy who has 2 phones. One to tinker and one to have as my daily driver. The year before i had bought a Moto X Style and I loved the device. Was bloody amazing! But the battery life didnt do it for me so decided to look to the future and went with a Nexus 6P. At that time my daily driver was the S7 Edge.
So August rolls around and the Note 7 is announced & released. The UK got it 2 weeks later than the US. Unfortunately I got rid of my S7 Edge for it while keeping my Nexus 6P. I was one of the unlucky people who got a Note 7 before it was recalled and subsequently had my Note 7 almost blow up on me. I got a replacement and very quickly I saw the Note 7 had been discontinued and the device had to be returned In replacement, I got a Iphone 7 256Gb which I lasted 36 hours with before I couldnt take it anymore and traded it to CEX.
So with my favourite series of devices recalled and with my change to a device that I couldnt get on with, I was in open market to buy a new phone. I had the choice between anything that CEX had Android wise. They even had a Moto Z on the day I went to see them, but heres why i decided to buy the Nexus 6P in 128Gb while still having my 32 Gb edtion.

These devices to me are still relevant in the market and im not bothered about the SD810 issues. My devices never run that hot. Plus add in the fact that I get unlimited tethering, these devices for me are why I love android. These kill the Iphone IMHO.
Congratz, one for each hand! they are classics!
I read the title and i was like "Well do enlighten me, why do you have two nexus 6P".
Not disappointed.
I actually though of a Samsung S7 when I went to buy my 6P, but the screensize wasn't what I expected (I wanted a bigger screen and the edges took some space off it one way or another), ended up with the 6P which was always my first considered choice.
I gotta ask though, why do you say the Note 7 almost blew up on you? Did you experience any problems that would suggest that would happen?

Long story but....
My N7 died on me randomly while i was using it... The software died. I tried flashing Custom Rom Nothing... TWRP would boot but would freeze
Used kies to restore software, but even that didnt work. My device then began emitting a burning smell. I managed to power down the device and make it safe..
I sent it Sammie after they got in contact with me, they sent out another device. Then the full recall happened a second time. I almost ended up like all those other devices you see burned out.
FWIW I call them the twins xd
First off, let me say I am a phone addict. Haha. In the last 11 months I have owned 4 Nexus 6P's. I keep coming back to them. Right now I have one along with my S7 edge. If the edge was a bit smoother, especially with a SD820, it would be a near perfect phone.
Sent from my SM-G935U using Tapatalk
I had a Note7 when it first launched and was very disappointed when I had to return it due to the recall. The one I received got so hot to the touch when charging I didn't want to take the chance of it exploding. I loved the phone but I went and got a 7 Plus as my personal phone instead. But I missed android and having owned and returned a Nexus 6P for the Note7 I decided I wanted it back. So when it came time to choose a work phone it was no question that I went for a 6P. The stock android experience is the best and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I got the 6P back in my hands.

I am thinking about 2nd hand Samsung S7, HTC 10 , OnePlus 3 , Pixel XL.
(I think my 6P battery start degraded.)
Its just an amazing device
I have an S7 Edge also and keep going back to the 6P. I love the screen on the S7E but the curved screen I keep touching with my fingers holding it and stuff goes haywire, It's maddening. I don't find the battery life on the S7E that great (as some do). I'm not a heavy user so it bothers me to drop 50-60% during the day when I've done virtually nothing with the device but some hangouts messages, texts and a couple conf calls. It will last all day, just bothers me draining that much with little use
I'm actually thinking of getting a second one. Maybe a 128gb version this time. I just look at the new pixel and I'm not excited. I was more intrigued by the HTC 10 to be honest.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Labs
With the Pixels system software now available on the 6P and 7.1.1 running much better than 7.0 ,i find very little reason to splash out $1000 on a Pixel. The 6P is still very flagship at the end of 2016, it's still good for another year. If it had OIS it'd be perfect.

Hi guys,
This is my short story why I buy my a second Nexus 6P.
I killed my old Nexus 6P with 128gb in Turkey and I was from end January until August in Turkey. When I was back I think which phone I should buy. My favorites are the HTC 10 (HTC Boy since HTC Desire => M9, Oneplus3 and the Nexus 6p. OnePlus have no AOSP, the HTC 10 los the beautiful design with the fingerprint sensor at the front. Than I remember my old Nexus 6P and the nice community (thanks to all devs). Now I have bought a new Nexus 6P with 64Gb. Maybe next year a new HTC with fingerprint sensor on the back or the Pixel

I was was Note before Note was cool...what's your story?

I started with the Note 2. I remember whipping it out in a training at Capgenini starting to take notes with the pen and the whole thing stopped. Everybody wanted me to demonstrate the device.
I skipped the 3 and got the 4, a classic. Great camera, great size. Onenote came out with pen support and my whole world changed. Haven't used paper since.
I skipped the 5, no SD card?
The 7 was a work of art. I never gave mine back. Cold dead hands..... kept hoping I would be able to trick verizon and get it on their network. After locking my account on 3 attempts I gave up. I still use it for taking pictures and movies of my daughter riding. When they locked out the 7, I got another 4 on ebay. I'm typing this on it now....it's rooted...I've having fun with ROMs and such.
I am so looking forward to the 8. While I film my daughters ridinf, I am constantly zooming to 2x....I can't wait to do it without losing quality.
Waiting for Best buy.
Great post
I also started with the N2. The first evening, I took a call in a pub and remember friends laughing at the thing. It seemed so big compared to the iPhone 4s that (I think) was the mainstay at the time.
Had that phone for two years then took the N4.
Two years later, upgraded to the N7 which is still the best phone I've seen... till my N8 arrives.
I made the big mistake of returning the N7 during the recall. Should have kept it but swapped to an S7E. Even now I occasionally catch myself reaching for a non-existent S Pen...
I have had all the Note devices including the Note Edge and Note 12.2 Pro. Currently use the Note FE synced with the Tab S3. All my notes are hand written and mainly use OneNote and Samsung Note apps.

Same Note 2, Note 4, Note 7, Note 8 And I also have my Note 7 still. Are we secretly twins? LOL
Started with a Dell Streak. The first enormous phone I'd ever seen (I loathe the term phablet).
When it was time to upgrade, I moved to the Note because I loved having a big screen. Then I upgraded every 2 years as my AT&T contract allowed. Note I717, Note 3, Note5, and soon (not soon enough) Note8.
I remember my big phone starter was the tmobile sidekick 1. That phone had aol instant messenger, email, notes, full qwerty keyboard, etc.... fun phone. Then I got the sidekick 2 & 3, and I was like.... wow! these phones are awesome!
I owned all Notes, kept some longer than others. My favorite Notes were the 3 due to all the development it was getting and the 7 simply because how nice looking it was.
Favorite small phone: HTC dream (G1) and T-mobile dash
Favorite large phone: Nexus 6
I started with an N2, I didn't think the N4 was worth the upgrade so passed on it. I had intended to upgrade when the N5 was released but the missing SDcard killed that idea. After that I activated my wifes old N3 until the N7 was available. I was able to keep my N7 which I rooted from day 1 until the end of Febuary when Verizon disabled my service so I returned it at that point. I had sold my N3 converted to Dev Edition on eBay. I'm now actually using my old N2 and anxiously awaiting the delivery of my N8. My N2 is running Octos 6.0.1 so it's not too bad.
I was really hoping the N8 would be available in the bright silver like the N7. I really like that finish but now the colors are so boring. I almost jumped ship in favor of the V30 but the N8 shipped before I could cancel my preorder.
The N7 was pretty much perfect as long as it didn't burst into flames.

I had the original Note. Skipped 2, 3, 4, 5.... Bought the 7 (we all know how that ended) and now waiting on my Note8. When I had the og note, the Samsung super brick bug was a thing. I shook with fear every time I flashed it ?

I probably would have gotten the original Note if I didn't try one of those awful Droid phones first. :/ Shortly after I got my Droid, the Note was released and I really wanted one. The phone game was quite a mess back then. I thought Motorola was going places when Google acquired it and I already preferred Android over iOS. But that never went anywhere, and then Google sold it to Lenova. The Note 2 was out and I decided to jump onto the Samsung bandwagon. Been ridin' it since.
I experienced the same Note lineup as you. Note 2, 4, 7, and now waiting for the 8 to be shipped. I still have the Note 2, gave the Note 4 to my mother, and we all know what happened with the Note 7. Glad I kept the S-pen and extra tips from both Note 7s that I had to return, cause the Note 8 uses the exact same S-pen. Now I have extras.
As far as the S line goes, I had the S3, S4, S6 edge, S7 edge, and currently using the S8+. I still have the S4.

Oh cool, I still have my Note 7. Nice to know it uses the same pen
I started with the original Note and still have it, I moved onto the Note 2 which I loved and had it for 4 years, I truly loved that phone. I remember being on a train with my original Note and a bunch of guys were blown away by it.
I appreciate times have moved on but I don't like the direction the newer Notes have taken. I'm just not a fan of the curved screen, the all glass construction and the tall and narrow styling.
Note note2 note3 note4 note5 (wasnt released in UK so i had to buy Russian model) now the Note 8.
Missed the Note 7 unfortunately
Looking forward to comparing the 8 to my Note 1 when it arrives
Had Note 2 3 4 5 7.
I thought the Note 5 was the best to use & hold, If only it had a SD card slot it would have just about perfect, until the 7 came along.
Note 4 was good but just as nice as the Note 5.
Roll on the Note 8.
Late note adapter started with note 4 skipped the 5 lack of sd card note 7 had it until the recall can't wait for the note 8
While everyone was laughing at the original note I was lusting after it from my Galaxy S II. Was able to get a Note II, and haven't loved a phone quite like that one ever since. After that I went all over the place: S4, Lumia 830, S6, and now off the deep end on a iPhone 7+. I was so set on getting a Note 7, counting the days until I was able to upgrade, then watched in slow motion as it all unraveled.
I preordered first thing in the morning after the announcement. How many of us didn't really need to see the announcement to preorder? I would have preordered this phone last month if they would have let me.
Now I am debating cancelling the Best Buy preorder to order from AT&T to get it a week earlier. $100 vs one more week on an iPhone.

I was excited about the first Note before it was launched based on this promo video. I waited for a few weeks after it was launched before jumping in. Loved it from the beginning. It came with a free flip case which gave it a professional look and it was completely different from anything then available. I had the Note for three years and then purchased the Note 4 which I still have and is still working well. The Note 8 looks interesting but is probably too expensive for me but after its price drops around 30% I will be interested.
Started my Android journey on the Dell Streak. Got the Note on release day. Got the Note 3 on release day, great phone, had it three years, longest I've ever had a phone. Now getting the Note 8 on release day.
I started my smartphone addiction with a HTC Touch Diamond, which was windows. I was afraid to go to android because I thought I would lose my Note taking ability with the stylus...but swapped to the original Droid because of a BOGO plan (which I dropped in water, dried in a bag of rice and it ended up with better performance, somehow)Then :
Galaxy Nexus,
HTC Thunderbolt,
Galaxy Note III,
Galaxy Note 7 (two of them),
...back to the Note III...gave the Wify the S7 Edge,
...patiently waiting for my Galaxy Note 8....
