Not staying connected - Asus ZenWatch 2

Anyone else's watch decide it's not going to stay connected to the phone anymore? I can connect, but it disconnects within a minute or two. Sometimes going to the menu reconnects it, but it doesn't last long. I tried FDR, clearing all the cache on the phone I could, verified the phone works. No dice.

I had the same problem occur after I upgraded to AW2 and the only thing that fixed it was to manually downgrade to AW 1.5 otherwise the watch was unuseable due to the constant disconnect and reconnect requests.

Interesting. I've been on AW2 for a while and didn't have the issue till that day. My phone has upgraded to Oreo but that was also a while before this. Maybe there was a Wear update that caused it. The radios still work as it does connect, but like you said it's constantly being dropped.
I do notice similar behavior with a BT thermometer I have. I can't use my Nexus 5X with it since once I close the phone the connection is lost. Maybe there's a Doze issue with it. I should try connecting the watch to my Nexus 5 and see if it has the same issues.

I have literally been dealing with this same issue for weeks now, I posted in multiple threads about it. I also narrowed it down to doze (same exact issue). However I was already running wear 1.5 when it started happening. Formatted phone (Nexus 6P with oreo) and watch, still doesn't work, tried all kinds of settings, nothing. If you figure something out please let me know. Ill post here if I do.

Same issue. Moto Z2 Play and Zenwatch 2 with AW 2.
Have only had the Z2 Play for a month and had no issues, until this week. Intermittent pairing requests and the watch falls off of the phone's Bluetooth list, while remaining in the Android Wear app.
Maddening.
Will rooting and reverting the watch to AW 1.5 solve this?

RSAP intermittent since upgrade to Android v5.0

Hi All,
Firstly, I'm new here so please accept my apologies in advance if this is entirely the wrong place to open up this thread. Forgive me if I've gone into too much detail here, but thought it made sense to put as much info down - much of the following mayor may not therefore be relevant to the particular problem I'm having.
I have a Galaxy Note 3, which I've had for some 19 months now and it has generally been very good and reliable. I drive quite a lot, and my car is a VAG group car which uses rSAP to connect via Bluetooth - this too has been very stable and reliable.
About 3 months ago I noticed that my battery life had suddenly reduced dramatically, despite no change in use from my part (no new apps, not suddenly watching YouTube 24/7 etc.). I figured the battery had passed it's best, so went to the high street and purchased a new genuine Samsung battery, but this behaved exactly the same as the original battery.
I then noticed, occasionally, that while at home, my WiFi was dropping it's connection to my router, complaining that "Authentication Failed" (despite the WiFi password not having changed). Disabling the WiFi on the phone, and then re-enabling it seemed to fix this.
The following month, I had a notification from my provider that I'd used 80% of my data allowance, and a few days later another warning that I was at 90%. I get 10GB per month in my deal, and AFAIK, I've never in the past come anywhere close to using this up. A few days later, I tried to get online to google something, and landed on an EE page telling me I'd used up all my data for the month, which would reset the following day. I put this down to the WiFi Authentication problem mentioned above.
The following day, the phone told me that an android update was available. I applied this update, and thats when things started going really odd! The phone suddenly became very slow to respond. Sometimes turning the phone on would yield the lock screen with no wallpaper, other times I'd get the wallpaper and nothing else (no digits to unlock the phone for example). And I noticed that when in the car, the rSAP connection would drop off after 10 minutes or so - I put this down to the phone being unresponsive, and called EE.
EE recommended that I return the phone to factory defaults, which I did. After this, the phone is definitely more responsive, but now my rSAP connection drops out after around 2 minutes, and then re-connects. If I am actually on a call, the connection stays up for a little bit longer, but still drops out after 5-7 minutes. If I have the phone plugged into a charger in the car, it stays connected for a little bit longer, sometimes up to 15 minutes, but still regularly drops it's connection.
I noticed that this new o/s has a new feature for "Trusted devices", which I've added the car as, but this made no difference.
It is almost as if, this new version has included some sort of bluetooth power saving feature whereby if nothing much is happening (i.e. I'm not actively in a call), the conneciton drops out after a couple of minutes - unless I'm on external power, in which case it drops out after a bit longer. Prior to the update, it would stay connected, sometimes for hours at a time.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and can you offer any suggestions as to what I might be able to do to investigate further (eg. are there any bluetooth logs I can inspect?) or better, fix the problem.
Your help is much appreciated

Strange restarting issue triggered by wifi and bluetooth connects/disconnects

Hi all,
As above I have a very strange issue that, oddly, I have only noticed happening since I recently got a new SIM card, although I'm not sure they are related.
Anyway, my phone seems to restart itself, often multiple times, and seems to take forever to finally reach the home screen (stuck on samsung logo for a while)... It seems related to when I try to do something related to bluetooth or wifi.
For example I noticed it 3 times in 2 days when stopping at motorway service stations and disconnecting from my car bluetooth kit. It also seems to happen when disconnecting from a wifi network, but not always.
Very strange and I have had this phone since release day with no issues until now.
Hope someone can help or offer some advice, otherwise I'll be forced to try a factory reset
Thanks in advance!
Vodafone online chat suggest taking it into store to be checked... Not sure how well that will go considering the issue is intermittent, but will see how it goes

Issues with WiFi after MM update?

I recently updated my V10 like a week ago to reap the benefits of it (hopefully, right?) since my old LG G4 that my brother has is running MM and it runs great, what appears to happen now is every 15 minutes or so with the screen off (hangout calls mostly) the WiFi will disconnect and reconnect within a few seconds, it's also off topic but my CPU seems to be struggling since the update (I have done 2 factory resets) and the phone randomly stutters pretty hard even opening things like the stock messaging app.

I'm having wifi issues, but no performance issues. My wifi will turn itself off throughout the day and not turn itself back on. I have been using automagic to turn it back on, but it's annoying when I'm on the internet and a page fails to load since the wifi suddenly disconnected itself.
I have disabled all the T-Mobile garbage settings under diagnostics, and enable wifi while the phone is off, but it didn't fix the issue. Anyone else?

[help]Moto Z rebooting when smartwatch connected

So, I have my Moto Z, I love it. But I have a rather horrible problem. If I connect my Asus Zenwatch 2 to my Moto Z, I get periodic, but frequent reboots. Probably about 2-3 times a day, as well as excessive battery use out of bluetooth.
Both watch and phone are stock, I've performed full wipes on both, but it doesn't seem to help. Ideas?
This may or may not help but I have the same combination Moto Z Droid and the Zenwatch2. I was having a frequent problem where my phone and watch would disconnect from each other and need to be paired again numerous times a day-usually when I walked away from my phone but sometimes with the phone in my pocket. That problem was corrected by going to Settings>Bluetooth>Asus Zenwatch 'wheel' icon and then unchecking the use for Phone Audio box. My guess is that disabling that would make it so I cant talk to somebody through my watch but I don't do that anyway and doing this worked for me. Some of the people running the Motorola forum have also recommended going to Setting>Location and turning off Bluetooth Scanning which can be done from the 3 dots upper right. Maybe one of these can help
Not the problem, if they're disconnecting it would be odd. It's most annoying as frequently it reboots while in my pocket and I don't notice, and because my phone is encrypted I basically go hours at a time without my phone functioning because it won't finish booting until I enter my password

Amazfit battery drain issues

My Amazfit lost battery within half a day and i tried so much to fix this.
Started to believe in a hardware problem but after completely resetting the watch and pairing it with a new MI account and not restoring any data it runs several days without charging. I am quite sure the reason for the problem is an unfinished sync that is constantly repeated. Also seems that flight mode doesn't deactivate BT completely as it had no effect on the battery drain. When the connected phone was completely turned off, the battery seemed to last.
I am a bit confused.
What are your experiences with that problem?
I have the same problem and reset the watch to no avail. But, I didn't try to skip the restoration part. I'll try that and see if I get similar results. Anyone else having this issue?
I have the exact same issue. I already tried everything but nothing worked. When I compare the data from my Amazfit watch app with the Mifit app I can see that some days are not properly synced. So I guess you are right, it must be a syncing issue. I didn't try to make a new mi account after unpairing, but I guess I have no choice. This really sucks.
I also tried wiping it (resetting to factory) as well as new xi account. Didn't work. Then I tried uninstalling the app from my phone and turning the watch to airplane mode. No luck. I'm now not convinced it's a syncing issue.
After installing PACEFIED release 24 the battery drain is back. I am totally fed up with the watch.
Let's write down the facts to find a reason:
-I have a Chinese Version of the watch
-latest PACEfied installed
-Installed older chinese App, connected watch and then updated via Playstore to latest english App (Strava sync works)
-no wifi password entered for watch
-no music on watch, no headsets connected
-no additional apps or watchfaces installed
-no Mi-Fit App installed
-Phone is a Huawei P9lite on Android 7.0 EMUI 5
The sync with my phone works only once then i have to restart the watch, Notifications do not work constantly.
Then you seem to have a bluetooth problem.
It might be your watch, it might be the phone.
And when BT runs wild on the watch, it eats through the battery.
Can you check with a different phone?

Doesn't work for me... It seems like you have a different issue, but thanks for the sharing. Today I also tried to unpair the watch and pairing it with a different Mi account but also that didn't work. Resetting the bluetooth settings in my phone didn't make a difference either. I have honestly no clue what the problem is.
i have the same kinde of issue, for two weeks it was great, now i have to charge it every day, try everything. . new account, wipe cashe, factory reset, still the same problem
i think it is a software problems with, first of all huawei phones and some particular watchfaces. In fact i didn't use my amazfit for 8 days and the battery drain was normal. When i reconnected it the battery started draining... maybe the kirin processors aren't completely compatible with tha amazfit... another thing i noticed is that some third party watchfaces cause draining problems.
Im using us rom 1.3.3a.. xiaomi mi5s..
I started having battery drain issue after playing at beach.. but i didn't swim more than 1m.. dont know whether its related or not..
Done factory reset twice..changed facewatch.. still draining.. on airplane mode, so no notification.. Backlight auto, no continuous HR.. only last a day average..
Anyone can help? Really hope for new official rom update will fix this issue..
I have the same problem. Could this be a real battery failure?

As per Huami moderators, swimming is strict no no...
Hey guys.
I'm also having a battery drain problem. I didn't go swimming or did anything out of the usual. The watch works fine but the battery lasts close to a day, when a couple of weeks ago it would last at least three days.
I have continuous HR measures, do exercise with music every two days, but even in airplane mode there seems to be a drain.
I've un-paired and re-paired the watch back with the phone and the drain is still present.
I have no extra apps sideloaded, root or custom ROM. I have the latest international version of the app 1.7.1 and latest firmware 1.0.9.6.
Anyone found any fix for this? Does a any recent development version say anything in the change log related to battery drains being fixed?
Regards.

I have a P9 Lite Huawei, and i have probleme with a lot of deconnection and drain battery .... somebody have a solution for me ?
Mine has started to drain from 100% to 0% in a couple of hours.
Must admit I might of got it wet as I wore it to the beach, got in touch with Huawei and this what they said, and my watch failed .
Hello Vince,
Thank you for contacting Amazfit.
We are very sorry that you have trouble with the device.
Have you ever submerged the device into water? For example, did you wear it when you were swimming or taking a bath/shower?
To troubleshoot your issue, please do a small test for us.
1) Fully charge your watch to 100%
2) Turn on the flight mode on the watch
3) Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone.
4) Make it untouched for 24 hours
5) Check the power consumption
If the power consumption is less than 15%, it's normal.
If the power consumption is greater than 15%, it can't be repaired, please contact the seller to find a solution.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Cheers and have an excellent day!
Sincerely,
Molly| Amazfit Support

I have the same problem. I also got Mollys message you posted.
Is there a way to replace the battery?
Very disappointing!
After performing the test she requested and realizing that the watch dies on me after 8 hours I got the following message from her:

Same Issues
I'm having the same issues. Worked great for over a month. I was getting 4 to 5 days of charge easily.
Then last week It suddenly started to drain fast on me. Now i am barely getting 4 to 5 hours.
Did not get the watch wet.
I tried to run it in Airplane mode overnight. I woke up after about 3 hours and it was dead. Tonight i will try airplane mode and shut the bluetooth off on My Galaxy S7 as well.
A1612 firmware 1.3.3a
ps: Come to think of it my Galaxy S7 just had a software upgrade early last week. The problem started just after that upgrade I think.
i have charge the device at 100%, then turn it off for almost 2 days, now it seem like power is holding on, i hope it will last
