Tutorial: Going from stock Lollipop or Marshmallow to Nougat. - Blu Vivo 5

I will tell you how to go from stock to a custom rom running Nougat.
Notice:
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please

First, you must go to Marshmallow from Lollipop. If you are already on stock Marshmallow, skip this step.
1. First off, you'd need to download and extract two files. SP Flash Tools and the 6.0 stock rom.. You should use the first link, but if you have an idea what you're doing, nothing's wrong with flashing with TWRP rather than SP Flash, if you already have it installed for whatever reason.
2. In SP Flash Tools, set the download agent to MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin found in the SP Flash folder, and the scatter file to MT6753_Android_scatter.txt in the extracted rom zip file.
3. Turn off and unplug your phone.
4. Click on Download in SP Flash, then plug in your phone.
5. Upon completion, boot directly to recovery by holding volume up and power until the BLU logo appears.
6. Do a factory reset with a Wipe.
7. You can skip the next part.

Click to collapse
Now, you need to flash TWRP to your phone.
1. Go to this thread. I know, it's Lineage OS. The ROM you decide to flash does not matter. The recovery works for all ROMs.
2. Download SP Flash Tools if you have not already.
3. Flash the recovery to your phone with SP Flash Tools.
Click to collapse
Now, you need to copy some files from your phone to your computer.
1. Boot into TWRP.
2. Under mount, enable system.
3. Under the Advanced tab, open File Manageer.
4. Copy the following folders to a folder accessible to your PC. I recommend a USB drive (/usbotg/) or the external sd card (/external_sd/).
/system/etc/firmware
/system/etc/mddb
5. Copy those folders to your PC.
Click to collapse
Next, you must select your custom ROM of choice.
Lineage OS 14.1
AOSP Extended 4.6
Resurrection Remix 5.8.5
Viper OS 3.1.1 (My current ROM of choice)
Cr Droid 3.8.4
Download your ROM of choice and if you are on the following devices, download the patch as well.
BLU Vivo 5, Condor A55 slim, and Gionee s6
Click to collapse
If on the BLU Vivo 5, Condor A55 slim, and Gionee s6, you open the PATCH zip file and delete the following folders.
/system/etc/firmware
and
/system/etc/mddb
Then what you do is you copy the firmware and mddb folders from your phone into the patch file, taking the place of the folders you just deleted.
Click to collapse
If on the BLU Vivo 5r, Condor A8, or Gionee s6s, you open the ROM zip and delete the following folders.
/system/etc/firmware
and
/system/etc/mddb.
Then what you do is you copy the firmware and mddb folders that you copied from your phone into the patch (taking the place of the folders you just deleted).
Click to collapse
Lastly, you copy the rom and patch (if applicable) files to your phone.
Then you flash through TWRP. Always make a backup before flashing anything.
Enjoy your new ROM.
I personally recommend you download the latest Magisk and Gapps micro packages and flash them too.

Thanks for this guide. I will try to get the Marshmallow firmware and upload for making the process faster.

What do you mean?

Is there a reason this will not work with Fastboot?

Okay, so it looks as if Fastboot is disabled on my device. I went into the Stock Rom, and I found there is a switch on the Stock Rom that turns Fastboot on and off. It says: Allow Oem Unlock.
I've heard of some folks bricking their Phones this way by flipping this switch in the stock rom. Is that true?
My choices seem to be:
1. Use SP Flash Tool to Flash TWRP. Then TWRP to load AOSP Extanded, or Lineage.
2. attempt to use that switch to see if it will let me do a fastboot oem unlock.
I'd like to try the second, but I want to know if thats a land mine to a bricked Phone if I flip the switch to allow OEM Unlock of the bootloader.

If on Android 6, use SP Flash.
If on 5, use SP flash to repair rom, upgrade to 6. Flash TWRP

Updated today. You can now upgrade directly to Marshmallow with TWRP installed using SP Flash thanks to onasre. Skips OTA entirely.

Yes, you can root 5.0.2. Do the cf auto root first. Once it boots, then you should have root. But it's not done yet. Do not reboot or turn off device as it won't be able to boot back yet. Go to play store and install flashify.
After that, extract the 5.0.2 firmware you flashed (rename and erase the .md5 extension at the end and you now have a .tar file, which can be extracted like a .zip or .rar.
Once extracted, get boot.img and recovery.img and copy them to your phone.
Then open flashify, locate those two images and flash them.
You should have root without any problem.
First flash recovery.img. and renaming it wouldn't cause any harm. The file probably looks like this: something.tar.md5.
If you remove md5, then you have .tar file. Extract boot.img and recovery.img from it like you would from any .zip

Hi, thanks for the info; I also have the same problem.
I would like to clarify your instructinos.
1) I have A500FU with lollipop 5.0.2 (which i downloaded and installed with odin)
2) I download cf auto root for 4.4.4?? is that right?
3) I extract boot.img/recovery.img from the 5.0.2 tar file
4) install flashify and flash the above.
Also you mentioned I need to do 3,4 without reboot, coz it wont boot. What will happen if it reboots by mistake? WIll it need a kies restore? or even just a 5.0.2 rom flash?
thanks alot

If it reboots by mistake, then it would be stuck in kernel logo and the screen would become whitish and remain like that. It's because CF root from 4.4.4 installs old kernel. If this happens, press volume down, home and power key together so that your device turns off.
Then enter download mode to reflash the rom with odin.

Great thank you. I will try it today or tomorrow.
Out of curiosity, what if I replace the recovery.img inside cf-auto-root with the new recovery.img from lollipop? Will that do the trick??
Galaxy A7
Hi
I have a galaxy A7. I followed the same method using the A7 CF auto root file for Kitkat 4.4.4. But after flashing, the device reboots. But it does not go to the android. Instead it stays on the screen which shows... SAMSUNG.. GALAXY A7... Any suggestions please??
If it boots into the home screen only i can flash the stock recovery file

So, you don't flashed the recovery.img and boot.img! After flash Cf-Auto-Root, Use Flashify and flash the boot.img + recovery.img from 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM.
I wl wxplain in detail. I took odin. Connected the phone. Den loaded up the auto root file. Clicked on start. So it starts flashing.. after the flashing is complete.. phone reboots itself... ryt ? Den it stays on the samsung screen. Stuck. I can use flashify only if i can boot up completely.

Now you have to reflash the stock ROM Lollipop for your A7 with Odin.
After flashed the ROM, flash the CF-Auto-Root package.
Don't reboot your device, otherwise same bootloop problem, when the device is bootup install "Flashify" from Play Store. Extract the boot.img and recovery.img from the 5.0.2 ROM.
Flash the boot.img and recovery.img from the Stock ROM with Flashify then restart your device and you have a fully functional root on your A7.
This method has worked with my A5.
Still not working
Than you for ur concern man.. But still it dos not work. After flashing cf auto root... I Just leave the phone. I do no touch it. It should boot into android. But it is not. It stays in d same screen.. Samsung... Galaxy A7
Maybe this works only for A3 and A5

Hello. In your older tutorial, you also mention that we need to modify the boot.img. But in this one, it is taken out. I bought this phone recently and I don't want to update to nugat. All I want to do is to install twrp and get root privileges (I will probably just install magisk). So do I need to modify the boot.img or not? Why is it not included in this tutorial but the old one?
Thanks.

You can follow the old guide if you are in marshmallow OS ( 6.0.1 ). But please I don't hesitate you if you break your phone ( don't blame on in me if you're gone ). But please backup your phone before doing that risky thing. You can backup your phone by searching on google how to.
I don't include the modify boot.img in this guide because it will cause boot loop or soft brick. In nougat area modifying boot.img can brick your phone. So I don't put the old one to this new one.

Don't worry dude, I won't blame you if I brick my phone I have been doing this for many years now, don't worry, this is not my first modified android phone.
So I will not modify the boot.img, I will just unlock the bootlader and flash TWRP and Magisk. That is all I am going to do. I already downloaded all the tools necessary to revert back to stock and all. I think I am set. All I need is my new phone now, which hasn't arrived yet Thanks for the answers.

it might vary from device to device.. in this what i did is:
* extracted partition dump from device using adb shell(need root)
Code:
dd if=/path/to/partition/ of=/sdcard/or/anything
* then made the zip (You can use mine just replace the files with your device correct files.. and you are good to go.
* othe guy did more amazing hacks.. like he made some fastboot envoronment in twrp and directly made zip from fastboot images.. although those images are pretty much same as extracted from sdb but sparsed you can have look on them too
hope it helped

* extracted partition dump from device using adb shell(need root)
* then made the zip (You can use mine just replace the files with your device correct files.. and you are good to go.
* othe guy did more amazing hacks.. like he made some fastboot envoronment in twrp and directly made zip from fastboot images.. although those images are pretty much same as extracted from sdb but sparsed you can have look on them too
hope it helped

Thankyou for Reply and I want to try it. Because it might help me to get back to stock. But only problem is I have a stock rom on my computer. In my device is a custom rom installed. And cant go back to stock, because my device gets in bootloop after flashing stock rom.
Do you think when I make a flash zip, that I can bypass bootloop?

First you need to find the reason for bootlooping then only making the stock zip is possible
Actually installing stock ROM from pc should not give bootlooping if bootloop occcrs you messed up with files check whether the files belonging to your device model reply with device model and other stuffs

All is now working, but I am repeatedly getting this error message regarding Motorola update being unsuccessful, which is burning down my battery faster.
What can I do about it?.
Please help.

Thanks for the reply. I have downladed april fastboot flashable rom from Mororola updates (link shared at telegram channel) but when i unpacked it, there was no flash script inside, so I could not flash that stock rom and I am still getting this error.
If you or somebody can share that flashall.bat script, i will be thankful.
edit: managed to flash the latest official firmware using youtube tutorial by andro guruji.
All my data was also safe.
Thanks again.
Will I get official updates after flashing this stock rom??

[RECOVERY] [UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.4.0-0 for Galaxy A20e (A202F)

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or TWRP3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/
I’d recommend to read everything in this post, if you care about your phone.
If you already unlocked your bootloader, start with step 3.
First you need to unlock your bootloader. You can do so by enabling developer settings first, enable oem unlocking, then shut down your phone, hold volume up and down at the same time and while holding them plugin your charger. Your phone now should show a green screen with instructions to unlock the bootloader. Just follow them and after the unlocking your data should get wiped. After that your device will boot up and land in setup screen. Do not setup anything, just skip as much as possible, because your phone will get wiped again. Enable developer settings and make sure oem unlocking is greyed out and enabled. (If it does not show up, connect to a network first!)
Flash Galaxy A20e TWRP.tar via Odin or heimdall
Reboot into TWRP AS SOON AS THE FLASHING PROCESS IS DONE because otherwise TWRP will get replaced with the stock Android recovery
If you want to flash a GSI, skip to step 7
Factory reset in TWRP and reboot to stock
Wipe everything in TWRP excluding SD Card / USB OTG
Put a GSI image file onto an SD Card, alongside GSI_Fix_boot.zip and Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip
Flash the GSI image, flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip, flash GSI_Fix_boot.zip, wipe cache and reboot.
Enjoy
Current bugs
Encryption/Decryption on stock does not work, you cannot read the internal storage while using the stock firmware

Hey thanks for this, I´ve got a few questions about the process that might also help others.
Do you recommend this method of rooting still over the new method using Magisk?
Do we still need to wipe everything in TWRP after first boot? And what specifically steps should we take to wipe?
Can you recommend any specific GSI images that are known to boot on the A20e (A202F) because so far I've tried LineageOS 17.1 / AOSP system -quack-arm64-ab-gapps.img and system -quack-arm64-ab-vanilla.img / Crdroid and nothing gets past the loading icon.
Do we still need to flash Disable_Verity_ForceEncrypt and GSI_Fix_boot.zip if not installing a GSI ?
a few notes
for anyone else. It helps if you boot into the rom and install magisk manager via APK (recent version is fine) before installing it via TWRP. After I did that rooting worked properly.
Lost ADB for some reason though, might be unrelated.
I also think that the a20e (SM-a202f) is an A device and not an A/B partition device at least according to treble check app.
ADB and USB connection / USB OTG does not work

1. This method does use Magisk
The tar file contains boot.img patched with Magisk
It also contains recovery.img and vbmeta.img
2. The boot.img is from Android 10 firmware so you need to upgrade to Q first.
3 there is a step missing in the instructions
It should say
6. Reboot the A20e into TWRP and mount everything you can.
Click Wipe then Format Data (not just wipe) - don't restart
Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt
Reboot to recovery and wipe both caches
Reboot system .

You can then backup boot, data and system for stock.
You can then install GSIs

Tried it, no change, there's no apps misbehaving, just strange sd storage card behaviour
Is the SM-A202F/DS supported by these methods, I noticed in some other threads it wasn't working back in March, that's the unit I have.

[GUIDE] How to Root Nokia 4.2

This guide will show you how to root your Nokia 4.2. This has been tested on TA-1157 and is working fine.
**Important** - If fastboot does not recognise your device In step 5, You need to download a driver. Here is the link: Download Driver (by Beebom)
Search up how to install custom driver and install it to the “Android” device.
Requirements:
Nokia 4.2 with unlocked bootloader
USB Cable
ADB/Fastboot.
Python
Your current ROM file
Internet.
Downloads:
ADB Installer (by Snoop05 on xda) : Download
Python : Download
Payload Dumper (vm03 on github): Download ( Click on code and select "download ZIP")
Magisk APK (on your phone) : Download APK ( Scroll down and you will find the APK file)
Code:
** I have only tested this on TA-1157. Other models may not work, but technically they should work.**
** Your warranty is now Void**
Step 1
Enable USB debugging on your phone. If you do not know how to do this, Search it up. It is easy.
Once that's enabled, Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop and open the command prompt (cmd) and type adb devices. It should show your device in the list.
Step 2
Locate the Python folder. To do this, simply type "python" in the start menu and click open file location. Then, Right click on "python.exe" and open properties. Then click open file location.
Once the folder opens, make sure to not close it.
Download the payload dumper.py which I have linked in the downloads section. Extract it and place the contents of the file in the Python folder.
Step 3
Download the ROM file. If you are using lineage OS on your Nokia 4.2, Download that file. If you are using the Stock rom, Download that. It should be a .zip file.
Extract the stuff from that file and take payload.bin and move it to the python folder.
Now, Open cmd in that directory by right clicking and opening cmd. Then, Type the following commands,
Code:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
then type,
Code:
python payload_dumper.py payload.bin
Once it is done extracting, Open the "output" folder. There you will find the "boot.img" file
Step 4
Use your USB cable or Google drive to transfer the "boot.img" to your phone. Once you have done that, Download the Magisk APK on your phone and install the app. (APK link in downloads section)
Once you have installed Magisk, open it and click "Install". Select the file from your phone and wait a few minutes for magisk to patch the "boot.img" file.
Once Magisk is finished patching, there will be a new file which magisk has created. Transfer the patched file to your computer via the USB cable or Google drive and make sure to rename it as "magisk_patched.img"
Step 5
You are almost done! Open CMD in the folder where you saved the "magisk_patched.img" and type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then type
Code:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Once done, Reboot your phone and Voila! Your phone is now rooted. Make sure to open the magisk app and check it.
If you need any help or you get any errors, post it down here below.
Also, If this helped you, consider liking the post!
