LG $400 rebate sharing - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I recently bought an LG TV, and noticed this promotion for people who bought a V30 between 11/16 and 12/2. I did not buy a V30 in that time span, but my TV purchase was within 45 days after that time. If someone on this forum bought a V30 in that time, but has not/will not buy another LG product in that time span, I wonder if we can team up and submit for the rebate and share the profits. Anyone willing to try?
lg.com/us/mobile-phones/v30/promotion

I doubt it will work. I bought two phones and submitted my entry a few days ago. LG requires you to upload pictures of the receipts. And the receipts have to also show IMEI/serial numbers. My receipts both showed my name and address, for instance. Not all will, but most will at least show your name.
There's also lots of legalese you have to agree to. LG would probably just deny the claim with two names on two different receipts, but depending on how far you took it, they could allege fraud?
A friend bought two phones so she could get the rebate, then sold me her 2nd one (my third) for the after "rebate" price of $600.

Free battery and cradle queation

My wife and I preordered the G5 through ATT using the BOGO deal.. I see on the LG site if you preorder (carrier variants included) you get the battery and cradle charger when you preorder..
Question is, will we be eligible for that also since we used the BOGO deal in ATT? I don't see anywhere on the site to where I can submit my preorder number..
Or will it come with the phone?
For the G4, I had to send a photo of the receipt plus my contact information. I'd assume they're waiting for release before they start accepting offers.
I wouldn't see why you couldn't claim a set for both phones. I believe the BOGO is an AT&T promotion whereas the battery/cradle is an LG promotion.
Thanks man. That's what I figured but can't find any solid info. I remember for my G4 it was all through LG site and send them pic if receipt and serial number to get the battery and cradle.
The pre-orders here in Luxembourg and also Germany (I believe) do not include a cradle or battery. All that is available as of right now is the camera module. MAybe more after the G5 starts delivering?

Best Buy's better than Verizon's 32GB Pixel (not XL) deal $240+get $100 BB egift card

Update: as of earlier today Best Buy was out of Silver and you could only order the Black one if you had a Best Buy location within 250 miles of a zip code you entered so that you could physically pick the phone up. i.e. They weren't offering shipping them any longer.
Speculation: Best Buy is dumping their remaining inventory of all regular Pixels (they only carry the 32GB models) and they they already sold all the ones in their warehouses.
Thanks to @xdabbeb for making me aware of this.
I bought two.
You may have to retry website buttons multiple times to get the deal to work if their website is still being slammed. Also even when it says sold out on Slickdeals, you can still order it. This morning when I ordered mine, the get by date was Dec 6th for silver and 7th for black.
In my case I also had to order one at a time and the second one I had to use incognito mode in Chrome even though I upgraded a different line on the same Verizon account and both times I logged into the same Best Buy account.
I attribute all site weirdness to the Black Friday internet traffic.
$9.99 /mo. for 24 months
without having to pay the full monthly price and waiting for credit. Less than $240 total.

Kevin - could you contact me via PM or email? I had a couple of questions I wanted to ask you concerning this deal. We are both in Columbus and I would value your insight.
Deleted.
In addition to this already great deal - for Cyber Monday (Sunday?) BB is now offering a $100 BB Gift Card on top of the $240 Price. Making your total cost $140 Make me wish I had waited.

I just found that out too, wow! Me too, but oh well, one of mine has already shipped. I could cancel the other since it hasn't shipped and do the deal but there's a chance Verizon wouldn't consider me able to upgrade that line, at least for a day or so.
Can you really buy the Google Pixel, cancel with Verizon and use it with T-Mobile without having to deal with Verizon legal (early termination fees, etc) ?
Read a few comments in the thread. There are people that say "No problem", others say "Check the fine print, they will make you pay the full price".
This deal makes sense for Verizon if people open a new account/line and stay for 2 years. But in this case it is how the ol' phone subsidization model look in 2016.
I doubt that Verizon has left room to buy the phone, cancel the line and bring it to another network without charging fees and screwing your credit.
Edit:
Here you go: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/ver...at748301462624.c?id=pcmcat748301462624&rdct=n
Activation/Upgrade Fees
Activation Fee: $40/line.
Upgrade Fee: $40/device.
Early Termination Fees
The early termination fee is up to $175, or up to $350 if your contract term results from your purchase of an advanced device (e.g., a smartphone).
There's no contract if you pay the phone off, it's not a two year contract, it's merely a contract to pay $9.99 a month for 24 months and once you pay it off, that's fulfilled. If you're creating a new line to get the phone, then whatever costs Verizon imposes to create the line, if any, in addition the activation fee which would happen for a new or existing line (Verizon seems to sometimes call the activation fee an upgrade fee lately) would be the only thing additional besides the tax for your overall cost.
I believe it was @45Wheelgun in the other thread who said he paid the phones off as soon as they shipped.
It *shouldn't* be any problem, but I don't believe anything until I see it for myself, and I might try it and see what happens to get a third one this time with the $100 gift card deal, but not sure yet.
FYI, my "upgrade fee" was $20 per phone, and the same "upgrade fee" was referred to as "activation fee" elsewhere, so I believe they're one in the same, although Verizon is less than transparent about this and has caused me confusion before. I'm on the most recently available Verizon Plan.
@45Wheelgun references this walkthrough for how to do it:
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=92290907&postcount=1562
His original post is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69793678&postcount=45
And "Proof", which is pretty convincing but in the end is merely "strong evidence": https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=92266531&postcount=1419
I just tried to add a line, all looked good, of course it said there would be a $20 a month smartphone access charge on the new line but once I paid the phone off I'd be able to cancel the line. However, the main Pixel page on Best Buy's site says 1) Silver isn't available at all and 2) Black "Shipping:Not Available". I went through the process as far as I could take it anyway and indeed it won't let me do the final checkout without selecting a store, but it tells me there are no stores within 250 miles to pick one up at, so it seems we're at an impasse, and basically maybe Best Buy is trying to dump what little remains of local Pixel stock, wherever they are.
Same issue here. Currently in CA visiting family but also checked my zip code in Portland, OR. No stores within 250 miles.
Also stopped by the local Best Buy and they had no Pixels in stock.

My friend who was the one who made me aware of both the original and the new deal said that this morning it said he could still pick one up locally but that now they're just not available. I checked a few zip codes I was familiar with as well just out of curiosity.
so If I find it in store, sign up for a new account, pay first month, pay off device, can I then use it with my T-Mobile line?
There are no early termination fees if you pick the 24 month Device Payment Plan (DPP). You will have three choices to purchase the phone:
DPP: 9.99/month 24 months
Contract: $199.99 + 24Month Verizon Service Contract
Outright purchase: $650
Any text you see about contracts or ETFs are in reference to the Contract option and have nothing to do with the DPP option. When you get to the purchase agreement you will see it states you are paying the "full price" of $239.76 for the phone and that is the installment agreement you are "signing". In that contract it clearly states there are no penalties for paying it off early. Only penalties it speaks of are if you DON"T pay your installments on time.
DPP is nothing but a 24 Month 0 Interest load. Think 24 months same as cash with the purchase price being $239.76 +TAX
I purchased 2 on Thursday as 2 separate transactions, one as an upgrade and the other as "add a line". Billed for Sales tax on $239.76 (~$17) As soon as they shipped on Friday I paid them off. That immediately restored my "upgrade" account and I will not need to "add a line" as the phones have been paid in full. I received an Email from Verizon notifying me that my DPP contracts were "Paid in Full" and Closed.
My phones will be delivered tomorrow. There has been no change in my plan, all discounts and extras accrued over the years as still in place. I'm unclear at this point if I will need to activate them. If so there will be a $20 activation fee. I'll know sometime tomorrow.
I went back today when I saw the additional $100 and was able to walk through the entire process as an "upgrade" so as far as my account is concerned "it never happened". I even had Verizon offer me $330+ to use it as a trade in!
I do not think you will have any problems if you just add a line but if you create a new account they may want you to either return the phone, paying the full price for it or $350 EFT.
Whatever... it would not be worth it considering the additional fees.
People were mentioning this after looking at the fine print that you agree on and talking with sale managers.
There is also a hard pull of your credit for a new customer, so I do not want to do that and end up reading in the fine print that I must stay with Verizon for 2yr in order to get the Pixel for $130.
Not sure what to do. Did somebody look at all the things that they ask you to sign or can post screenshots?

Did you look at the link I gave a few posts up (first page I think) with the link to the "proof/evidence" that there will be no ETF if you pay off the phone. I believe it, for what it's worth, but can't take advantage of it any more than I already did since there are no stores within 250 miles of me to pick it up, which is the only option now. I'll add that to the OP when I can.
Yeah... I saw a bunch of posts of that guy, DEEE. He has been active on that thread for 3 days no stop. There are some funny flames He wants to be the "go-to person". He also does everything to shut up who contradicts him. Either he needs some attentions or somebody must pay him to be there and do the promotion.
A few people keep saying "check the contract. It is just $240." but a few others found something off. Check the posts related to this one:
https://slickdeals.net/f/9417827-be...es-100-bb-e-gift-card?p=92444587#post92444587
What I got from that:
- At checkout you sign both DPP and the https://www.verizonwireless.com/legal/notices/customer-agreement/
- The DPP (that is titled "RETAIL INSTALLMENT CONTRACT") says you are subject to the Verizon agreement too. So you need to interpret them together.
- The conclusion seems to be:
1) If you leave Verizon before 14 days then you have to return the phone (or pay full amount for it)
2) If you leave after 14 days you have to pay other $350.
Verizon lawyers are not dumb.
Either somebody that studied law can interpret those contracts and tell me that everything is fine or I will stay out of this deal. It is not $240 vs $250, it is $240 vs $700.
Updated the OP: as of earlier today Best Buy was out of Silver and you could only order the Black one if you had a Best Buy location within 250 miles of a zip code you entered so that you could physically pick the phone up. i.e. They weren't offering shipping them any longer.

IMEI/MEID Number-Not valid for LG Promotion Error

FYI - Not sure if anyone else is getting this error, but when I tried to register for the LG G6 \ Google Home launch promo, I got the following error on submission:
IMEI/MEID Number: The serial number provided is not valid for this promotion.
SERIAL_LABEL: The serial number provided is not valid for this promotion.
Purchase was on 3/31, tried to submit promo on 4/1 and got the error. E-mailed LG support, and got two responses.
First Response:
Thank you for emailing the LG G6 Google Home promotional team.
We're sorry you're experiencing issues registering. It's likely that your IMEI has not been updated in the system just yet.
I am going to forward your information to my supervisor to review .
If you haven't already, please forward the following information to us:
- Your first and last name
- Phone number
- IMEI number(s)
- Carrier
Thank you for choosing the LG G6.

(btw - I had provided screen shots of the error, and all of the info they asked for in my inital email).
Second response, I assume from the "supervisor":
Hello,
I'm sorry about that e-mail. My colleague left out a lot a few things. The database has not been updated yet. There seems to be a delay in getting the information from your carrier. You should be able to try again in a couple days. If you still have problems registering, let us know.

My carrier is Verizon, for those wondering.
As of 5:30am eastern on 4/4, still cannot register the device with the promo. And I've checked the IMEI a number of times for accuracy.
I had that same error on Sunday but when I tried again yesterday it accepted it. One difference was on Sunday I tried to do it on my phone and yesterday I did it on my computer. Don't know if that mattered or not.
Could have been typos (like difference in i and l and 0 and O) or maybe you didn't put the HEX EID? **shrugs**
Common issue apparently with LGs system. They claim they have to wait for the seller or the carrier to upload the IMEI to their system. They also claim it takes a few days to process and with their system being backed up with people registering this deal it might take a day or two longer. I called and they claim to have prioritized my processing and should be in by the end of tomorrow.
Try it now. It didn't work for me for several days, including first thing this morning. But when I resubmitted just now it went through. Good luck!
I was able to submit my Tmobile line even though the phone doesn't officially release until the 7th.
Try dropping off the last digit of your IMEI. That is what worked for me after speaking with Verizon.
And I just got confirmation they have accepted my submission and next step is waiting for shipment notification
Didn't work this morning but it just worked now. Ordered on the 17th arrived on the 30th
I'm on Sprint, just tried again, no dice.
Verizon here, mine finally went through tonight.
I'm on sprint. Worked for me earlier today.

At least you have an imei to enter for the promo. I bought mine on 3/31 as a preorder from at&t (last time I preorder from them as the stores had them yesterday in limited batches on 4/3 --- but got the but one/ get one free offer on their installment program and had to pull the trigger before the 1st had ended)and have yet to see an imei for the phones that have shipped out to me on 4/1. They are scheduled to arrive on 4/6, so hopefully I have success and wish you the same from VZW as well!
Finally worked this AM, with the same IMEI that I have been using (in my emails to them, I had sent a PDF of their form submission page, so I was using that to copy and past back into IMEI field. Looks like it does take some time for them to get the IMEI. But, in looking at past promos, some said they would get a similar error about invalid IMEI, but if they kept resubmitting, it would finally work. In other words, if it's not a problem with getting the IMEI from the carrier, is crappy website coding throwing back an incorrect error on the IMEI check (should be service unavailable at this time vs. invalid IMEI).
To those still getting the error, keep trying. Our purchase was from vzw.com, pick up in store on 3/31, and it did not work until 4/5.

I'm baffled by this too! My only comparison is through employment at T-Mo years ago where I don't remember and as a long term AT&T customer, the 2 day standard has been adhered to for me as well...I may have had 3 day once but it's always been lightning fast and I've never altered shipping speeds. However, I've only dealt with upgrades and not new lines of service, nor have I shipped to the store before, ... And I don't recall shipment telling me that the item was on backorder, which it said those first several hours which shocked me.
Tried registering mine but didn't take imei
I bought an unlocked one from B&H, same thing happens when I trid to register. CSR tried manually withou success. Waiting for supervisor's response.
Some info to share with those who bought unlocked Lg G6 from B&H and can't register for the Google Home.
I called the CSR, was told they were aware the issue of registration of unlocked G6 sold by B&H. Their IT guys currently are working on the issue. I asked about the submission deadline is next Monday, the CSR told me since I have send all the information including name, address, picture of IMEI and invoice, as well as the answers of the survey questions on the registration page to them via email. The promotion will be honored even the website can't be fixed by next Monday.
If you purchased the same phone before May 7, make sure you send email to the promotion support with all the information required on the registration page before the submission deadline, which is next Monday. Email address and phone number can be found on the same registration webpage.
When this happen to me I emailed them and they entered it manually for me.

What's the Best Deal on an LG G5 These Days?

I would like to replace my Verizon flip phone with the LG G5.
Don't try to talk me out of it, I like the wide-angle camera and the native 16:9 camera sensor.
I also like the idea of getting my hands on one for under $300.
And yet I am very aware that over time this phone can develop problems with Wi-Fi, GPS, camera focusing, etc.
SO, my question is > What is the best way to get a deal on the LG G5 that will allow me to replace it or send it back to LG
for repair under warranty in case any major problems pop up during the next year or two?
Some background: I am on a Verizon unlimited plan with four lines (1 iPhone, 2 flip phones, and 1 tablet).
All devices are paid off, so no particular commitment to stay with Verizon, although it would be easier
not to have to replace each device if we moved over to T-Mobile (second choice).
The best deal I've seen was last month from Best Buy ($5 month/24 months - $120 total). I missed that,
so I keep checking Best Buy's site, hoping that same deal will be repeated. At the moment they list the Verizon LG G5
at $15/month, which is a better deal than Verizon themselves, who list it at $20/month.
>> Does getting a potentially troubled phone from a carrier offer more protection for replacement or repair
over buying one from Best Buy, Amazon, or even Swappa, or will LG's warranty be just as good from any of these options?
Just trying to get the best deal and protection on a new LG G5. Any thoughts?

First of all, overall the LG g5 is actually a good phone. Yes, there can be some issues, but overall if you get a decent one you'll be happy. Now, are you looking to be able to root and / or use custom ROMs? If so either get the T-Mobile h830 and switch to T-Mobile as it had root and custom ROMs available or the RS988 from b&h photo as it works on Verizon (just pop in an already activated Verizon sim card and it works without issues) if you're wanting to stay on Verizon and get root (only root is available currently for rs988). Also, b&h photo has a really decent warranty they they offer when you buy from them. Other benefit of RS988 is that if you decide to change to T-MOBILE or at&t at a later time, you can do that as it has the correct bands for all 3 carries. If you don't care about root / custom ROMs and are 100% sure you want to stay on Verizon you could go with Verizon itself although you would want to get insurance and that's a monthly charge and big deductible and you'll only get a refurbished version of they can't fix it instead of paying a one time fee for warranty and much smaller deductible with b&h. So, will depend on what you're truly looking for. I had the RS988 and used it on Verizon and T-MOBILE without any issues although I returned it as I really needed root and custom ROMs and at the time it wasn't possible except on international h850 and T-Mobile h830, so I got the T-Mobile version. Oh and other thing, as far as warranty goes, it's the same no matter if you go through Verizon, T-MOBILE, b&h or best buy as warranty is from LG for 1 year. Hopefully this helps
Thanks jeffsga88 for all that info. It sounds like it's better to rely on LG's free year-long warranty
rather then paying a carrier an extra insurance fee.
Is it correct that if I got a used phone on Swappa, the warranty would only be good for a year from
when the phone was originally purchased?
For the LG G5, I am not particularly interested in rooting. I am fully aware that this is a rooting site,
but it seems people on XDA forums really know their stuff, which is why I'm seeking out help here.
I am mostly interested in getting a model that will work with Verizon here in the US,
and also work in Western Europe on their GSM network. T-Mobile works with GSM,
so no problem there, which I why I might consider switching.
However, my research shows that even an LG G5 Verizon CDMA model should work on
European GSM networks. I hope this is correct.

No problem. If you buy off of swappa, you'll most likely not have warranty for two reasons. Number one is because the warranty is most likely past and number two is for warranty you need original proof of purchase which you probably won't get. I recommend getting from Best buy or b&h. As far as being able to use all the networks, I'd say you're better off getting the RS988 from b&h photo. It will have coverage on all the bands and will have a brand new 1 year warranty plus you could buy a warranty for $50 / 1 year or $80 / 2 year one time fee when you buy it and it covers spills and drops Oh, and you don't pay sales tax when you buy from them

Thanks again jeffsga88 - that B&H RS988 model seems like the one to get.
At the moment B&H's price is $399. I might wait until the price gets closer to $299.
Don't know if this sounds crazy or not, it's just that I know there's that $120 Best Buy deal out there,
(or was out there), so a lower price seems preferable.

At the moment B&H's price is $399. I might wait until the price gets closer to $299.
Don't know if this sounds crazy or not, it's just that I know there's that $120 Best Buy deal out there,
(or was out there), so a lower price seems preferable.

Yeah, the price will drop eventually. Not sure how long it will take but it will eventually drop. Was checking best buy and they have the rs988 too for $375 with a free battery and charging dock, but even at $375 it will be more then b&h with tax. If you're ok waiting a couple months I'd guess price will drop. Especially as more flagships come out this year and as LG gets closer to V30 release time.

Edit: Also on b&h photo you can buy used for $249.95 with no tax. They say it won't be under manufacturer warranty but is covered by their warranty. You would need to email their support to get more details on what is covered and how long as I don't know. Here's the link for used one:

I'll wait as long as I can, which may not be very long.
However, according to comments on the B&H and Amazon pages, this unlocked model RS988 won't work with Verizon Wi-Fi calling,
which I suppose I could live without. Just hoping it works with European GSM networks.
It's seems my best choices are either this LG G5 RS988, or waiting to see if that $5/month Best Buy deal comes up again.

It may or may not, I never tested it while I had it As far as compatibility with EU GSM networks just Google search what network bands they use and check against the screenshot I posted earlier.
I just picked up a used AT&T g5 unlocked for $230.oo. I love it.

That's good to hear Patrick - it gives one confidence in the LG G5 - Thanks!

LG V30+ from eBay was FINANCED. Swappa says not eligible for resale. Options?

So it looks like this will be my second time buying from eBay where someone tries to scam me.
Turn on the phone, realize it's google locked, and spend about an hour researching how to get around it. Maybe the guy forgot to remove it from his account?
I look it up on Swappa and see that the IMEI is clear yet it was FINANCED! (not eligible for resale.)
To ask what is probably a stupid question, I don't have any options, do I?
This has been previously discussed in the Q&A section. I also bought a Google locked V30+ intentionally and was able to work around it. Search for "bypass FRP LG V30/G6 Android 8.0 2018"

I went through that whole long process. But now it won't activate on my network. I think since it was financed I can't use it.

Then maybe the IMEI is not clean. I recommend contacting the seller or get eBay involved if the seller didn't disclose that the phone was financed.

Actually, it's a Sprint phone and I'm using an ATT MVNO card, so I imagine that's why.
Either way, not disclosing it was financed AND google locked is a **** move
If I can fix it I at least want 50 bucks back. Cost me $230. It's otherwise mint, however.

Mine also was a LS998. Works perfectly on Straight Talk (ATT) after the Google bypass and converting to US998. Try the conversion and see if that resolves the network issue. Good luck.

It seems to recognize my SIM card now, but in Oreo US998 I can't change the APN settings (mine are wrong). Just stuck on the default ATT apn settings. No way to test it...
Edit: Sent myself a text ( I use google voice). It works!
Now I'm going to finish bootloader unlock and installing Pie...
...tomorrow lol. Also gonna try to get money back from eBay douchebag

You can get a refund from eBay due to seller dishonesty.
Next time, buy from eBay pro dealer who stands behind their products. Like this one:
LG V30 LS998- 128GB - Titan Black (Sprint) Smartphone A Mint - $299
I've bought from that guy several times or had others buy from him. Just make sure you get the "mint" one. Use Frankenstein to convert to US998.
OR if you want BRAND NEW IN BOX -- with 2-year LG warranty:
LINK REMOVED AS SELLER IS NOT RELIABLE

I mean, it's working now I just had dicking around to do. Not thrilled, but it did only cost me $230 and is otherwise a mint V30+.
Still annoyed.
Though I think if someone gave me a V40 for free but I had to use it on Sprint's networks, it would be worse than my current situation
Edit: Also your guide helped me out a TON! Thanks!

You paid $230 for a $350+ phone (even if it's used) and didn't expect problems? Why'd you think it was so cheap? That's why I use Swappa almost exclusively now.
Not to be a shill, I've got no connection to this listing. But if your'e fine with silver and 64gb base:
LG V30 US998 64GB US Cellular Smartphone-Silver-Mint

I just bought one at $319 less than two weeks ago and it was new in box, had the screen protector on it, etc. manufactured june of 2018 and it successfully qualified for 2nd year warranty. Legit. Best price I've seen shopping a ton on ebay and swappa.
Just bought another today, for my wife, the price is now $299. Super solid.

Where the hell are you still finding the V30 for $350? Retail? Why would you buy a phone from retail?
I just picked up another one for $200 even. I'm giving it to a friend at cost after I unlock it so it can be used wherever (she is going back to Colombia in a month for good.) Colombia uses the same LTE bands we do, but this phone is Verizon Locked.

Still more than I'd spend on a phone. First Apple jacked up the prices of phones because its followers are incredibly stupid. Capitalizing on this, Samsung did the same for no reason whatsoever and those sheep followed. Then Google released the first pixel for 3 times the price of the Nexus 6P (which is barely any better than the 6P, aside from hardware issues,) so on and so forth. I refuse to buy into this trend. People leasing phones like you would a car is a problem.
I agree with you entirely. The days of subsidized phones is over. Though I've seen the V30 go on sale for half of MSRP back in august on verizon for a few days. The Pixel 3 and 3 XL were buy one get one free for a week or so on Verizon. That's about $400~ for a new phone, which is reasonable.
When you paid $200, are you getting a new phone? I have my doubts about that. But link please if you're finding that.
Of course $300 is more than I'd like to spend. In 2015 early 2015 I got the LG G4 for $199 with a promo through Verizon, I wasn't changing carriers so had no problem with the 2 years contract. But for the tech I'm getting today compared to 2015, $100 more isn't terrible.
At the end of the day you certainly can choose not to lease but the MSRP of phones is crazy high. If you're getting a modern phone for cheap it's either really shady black market china/etc stuff (liable to get scammed), used, at least a year or more old model, or a flash deal that isn't something you can reliably bank on. I don't know how you can say you're opting out of high prices, you're not, you're compromising on something or have happened to get lucky in a way that isn't something everyone can plan on. $299 for a truly NEW, with mnfg warranty V30 is a pretty solid deal.

I'm not trying to weed through the same scams that you fell prey to on EBAY so I can find a phone that will maybe be as described, in decent condition, clean IMEI, etc. So if you want reputable; retail or Swappa or similar. Never EBAY. I was lucky to find a nice V30+ on Swappa, but there are no more for sale. I'm not talking about a V30. A V30+, like you said in the title. You know, the better one.
Bottom line is you found a deal that was literally too good to be true. Use discretion next time, especially if the device isn't even for you, but some mysterious Columbian 3rd party. Or whatever your story is now. :good:

Some scam. I got a working V30+ for $230. Google locked ones that have good IMEIs but the owner didn't pay his dues still go for around $200.
Is an hour of my time worth $100? I'd say so.
Also, it's "Colombian."

Same exact one I bought - first was at $319 for my wife... then I got jealous and she bought me the same one at $299 yesterday. Great deal for a BNIB phone, and I can certainly recommend the seller, as the device is exactly what was listed!

I'll add this to the WTF thread later tonight. That way there's a good selection of mint 128GB V30+ ($299), new 64GB V30 ($299) for same price, and then new 128GB V30+ ($378) -- first from trusted seller, latter two with warranty.
The V30+ is an awesome device but I can't justify paying $300 for any phone. I got mine for under $200 on eBay back in August. Mint condition, clean IMEI but was Google locked. A little research and effort and I was able to bypass the lock and convert to US998 (thanks to the awesome guides in this forum). You can still find these on eBay if you're willing to put in the effort. Definitely worth the $100+ savings. At least to me.
A bit late to the party, but if it hasn't already been said:
Clean IMEI means that the device has never been network blacklisted. Usually blacklisting happens because it's reported stolen or lost, and is irreversible as far as the consumer is concerned; it permanently blocks activation for the network.
Clean IMEI and no other flags means good to go.
Financed means it's still attached to an account and is still owed money on. You might be able to contact the carrier and pay off the balance; this would release the phone for reactivation, but will probably increase the cost to the point where you would be better off just buying a clear phone.
A financed phone is a ticking time bomb. At the point that the carrier decides that the original customer has no intention of paying the phone off, they'll blacklist the IMEI so it can never be activated on that network again (this includes MVNOs using solely that network).
Don't buy phones that are financed unless you know you'll never use it on its home network. If you have a decent feedback score, ask private sellers for the IMEI so you can check it before buying. Or, as others have said... just spend a bit more and buy from a reputable seller.

Agree 100%. That's where you have to do your research and put in a little effort before hitting the buy button. Do this and you can certainly get yourself an incredible deal on these incredible phones.
