Yup it is not working... And we try opening it again and again it give fatal error

There is lot of lags while viewing or zooming an image in camera after capturing. This is a constant bug which i have seen from beginning. (this is what makes using camera uneasy infront of others)

By the way I am running Cardinal OS official 5.3, Android 8.1, nano opengapps, magisk v 15.2 with busybox

Dear @Arnova8G2, thank you (and BSG) for bringing GCam to our device. I am using your gcam v1.5beta. HDR+ works like a charm. I found bugs is HDR+ doesn't work with front camera and sometime FC when i try to take selfie. Other bug is can swich camera in portrait mod and picture taken from portrait mod in front camera has greenish tint.

Ver 1.4 and 1.5 portrait mode is working well on Nos 8.1. HDR+ works well too except for front cam HDR+ (maybe not supported on our device) only issue I see so far is that the quality of portrait photos isn't as good as regular shots, the camera seems to be using a higher iso for some reason in portrait mode and the pictures come out grainy.

If you are using Nitrogen OS 8.1, go to:
Settings->System->Developer options->Set GPU Renderer
and select: OpenGL (Skia)
This solved the issue for me...

I wish there is a programer member could make the new version of google camera that suitable for my A8 2018, because I have install the one from @MiniUser , it failed to catch portrait, my device restart by itself,,,,

I've tried the apk 4.4 in the conversation you linked and it freezes. I Can't take a photo with hdr+. You can take hdr photos with that version on your Galaxy a8 or in another phone?

this version also works for my device, but I love the earlier version's result on HDr+ (B-S-G's Modded Google Camera 4.4.020 with HDR+ for Android 7.0 / ARM64 v3.8c All-in-One Full Manual), the picture result is better than my samsung A8 stock camera apps, especially it can get more detail in direct sunlight or low light with larger amount of file size

I've done exactly as you said and I did various test.
With that version you can take a photo with hdr+ selected but it won't be a real hdr+ photo because it doesn't process the 3 photo like in supported phones. It takes a normal photo, a good photo, but not an hdr one because in the settings menu the hdr is disabled.
I've tried really a lot of the Google camera ports and not a single one can take an hdr photo.
The ones that try to take a real hdr photo crash, the ones that have some option that disable the her processing don't (even if it's selected into the camera option).
I really hope that with the Oreo update Samsung will activate the camera 2 api to a "level 3" settings because I don't want to root or unlock the boot loader to force the api activation.
I wish there's some programmer which could make an app to click pics in portrait mode from this phone, Please this phone just lacks that one thing.

in setting just disable all front cam Hdr+ & portrait mode coz it isn't working on my front cam (hang & push to restart), only working for rear one
in setting also enable fix black level offset (to prevent your portrait photos become red or pink)

I can record 4k (30fps) video with cinema 4k (I downloaded it at play store)
the result you cant play by using samsung video player so you need to download MX player
cinema 4k also doesn't provide to storage your video on sd card,,,,
I ve tried open camera & enable camera 2 APi, but the video resulution is only full HD (1080p)
perhaps this app also work for your A8 2018
With the last minuser version of the port, 8.2, I can too do real hdr+ photos. It elaborates the image after I take It, file dimension is big around 7 mb and quality is good, a lot better than the default camera for the rear cam.
If you disable the front camera hdr fix it disable the hdr in the rear camera too.
I think I'll stick with this version because it's the only one that has real hdr+ working.
the latest version 8.2 of @miniuser123 works fine, but you have to deactivate the flash, otherwise the app crashes and the phone restarts. From the settings you only have to activate fix black level offset to prevent the portrait photos are with a lilac patina. The hdr setting for the front camera leaves it unchanged, otherwise it also acts on the rear camera. So much for the selfie is great for the Samsung app, considering that the Galaxy A8 has 2 front cameras.
With the 8.2 the difference between the stock camera and the gcam is enormous.
It seems as if Samsung limited the quality of the post processing so this phone, even with a good (and advertised 16mb 1.7) rear camera, couldn't even go near the s8 in photo quality. I've compared a lot of photos I took simultaneously with my a8 and the s8+ of a friend of mine.
With the stock camera the s8 wins hands down. If you compare the a8 pics taken with a working hdr+ gcam the gap is a lot smaller. They come close, but the s8 has always the lead.

So True! The Phone is fantastic but with stock rear camera settings could be better! Fortunately miniuser and his gcamera port fixed it.
He released an 8.3 beta version. Stable on our phone as the 8.2.

You need to disable the "hdr+ front camera" setting. But then you won't have hdr+ on the rear camera anymore!

What does this mod do?
It replaces the libmmcamera_imx318*.so and libmmcamera_imx268*.so files inside /system/vendor/lib/ with ones I edited.
It also adds a missing reference to libadsprpc.so in /system/etc/public.libraries.txt on custom firmwares.
WarningFrom my experience this mod can't really break anything. At most you'll have a non working camera. In this situation you need to either flash your ROM again or restore these files from a backup.
If you're on MIUI use the installer that doesn't change your public.libraries.txt file! Otherwise your device won't boot.
What does it fix?
It fixes a sensor and active array size mismatch issue in our devices. It makes a lot of google camera mods work (to some degree).
It seems to have also fixed the cropping bug everyone has been complaining about. Since the array size mismatch appears to be cropping the resolution down to the next working one.

Recommendations
If you don't mind losing Motion Photos on the Back Camera turn on the Use Hexagon DSP option for slightly better performance and stability
Change the HDR+ parameters to Pixel 2017 stable.
Turn on Portrait ZSL mode
Change Base model inside Tuning back cam to Nexus 6P. (More detailed photos plus better and faster autofocus)
SerJo87 Google Camera's default tuning settings are tweaked for another smartphone's camera sensor. As a personal recommendation go into Tuning back cam and disable the Tuning master switch for it to use the default Base Model values. I've spent hours tweaking and have found the default Nexus 6P values to be the best ones.
Change the Lens blur megapixels to 5MP. (Fixes the low exposure issue)

Why I did it
Coming from a Redmi Note 4X, I was pretty letdown by the lack of a working google camera mod for my new Mi Note 2. I upgraded my phone in almost every aspect except I was taking far inferior quality photos. This drove me to find out what was going on with our device.
Getting technical
Going through several gcam mods I noticed a pattern. This error to be exact:
E/QCamera (510): <MCI><ERROR> update: 102: invalid input: active_array [5344, 4016], sensor size [5488, 4112]
For some reason, the active array size is smaller than the sensor size. Which cannot happen. This is what I fixed in the libmmcamera_imx318_primax.so file.

The missing reference to libadsprpc.so prevents the google camera (and any other non system app) from accessing the Snapdragon 821's hexagon DSP. The reference is needed for apps to offload processing to the DSP and the google camera tries to use it for HDR background processing. It should make the app and the phone a lot more stable and responsive even when taking consecutive shots.
Changelog
[v3] In version 3 I started replacing both libmmcamera_imx318.so and libmmcamera_imx318_semco.so as well, with the same fixes. I'm assuming these files are for the different possible CMOS our phones can have (sony, semco or primax).
[v4] In Version 4 I also replace libmmcamera_imx268.so and libmmcamera_imx268_sunny.so. These Front Camera files were also fixed and no longer crash the app when switching to and from Portrait mode.

Hmm maybe miui's public.libraries file has libs that are missing from the file I'm flashing. I'll confirm that tonight.
I also forgot to mount /vendor in my installer script and that may have caused some issues. I'll also upload a fixed version later tonight.

Yeah. UriKill's mod is optimized for the redmi note 4. But is still the most stable of the bunch. I've noticed things like switching to the front camera and then switching to portrait mode will crash the camera but doing it the other way around works.
The note 2 does have built in image EIS and UriKill's mod enables Google camera's stabilization on 1080p. But shouldn't be doing it in 4k and yet the image gets cropped a lot more in 4k. I need to figure out what's going on.
New version of the script is up. I forgot to mount /vendor, so it wasn't really working unless you had manually mounted /vendor before flashing it.
Give it a try again if it didn't work last time.

Something just crossed my mind. Did you flash LazyFlasher on your miui rom?
Editing the /system partition makes miui roms unbootable unless you disable both dm-verify and forced encryption.

For me no. The app crashes in front and back camera with portrait mode
Camera app also crash on mine when choosing portrait mode.
Although if I switch very fast to front cam it works.
Video doesn't work though.
I am on Pixel Exprerience if that helps.

If you had another google camera mod installed usually just uninstalling doesn't delete all data. And some mods have the camera.enable_pd and camera.enable_pd_blur flags turned on in Developer Settings.
These need be to off. Check if that's the issue.
Front camera Portrait Mode also needs the camera.gouda.front flag to be on.

Yes they should, at least in UriKill's port. It depends on the gcam mod you're using.
So can we flash it on miuipro 9.5.1.0 or will it bootloop?

It shouldn't bootloop. I don't think miuipro enforces dm-verifiy. And my mod doesn't change any important system files.
If it does bootloop, try installing LazyFlasher and see if that fixes it.
Either way, put the miuipro, kernel and magisk installation files in your internal storage before testing.
If you run into a bootloop, just reflash those 3 files, in the above order, and everything will be back as it was.

dear all yesterday(26/11/2018) a new gcam was launched by POTTER(gcam porter)

It captures an image after restart, but a very terrible image i should say. colors are not good.

Yes really disappointed with from camera performance but night mod is very good

So can you put in an upscaler which will upscale the video from 1836p to 2160p?? if it is possible then its a great thing, or can you increase the bit rate of the 4K recording, so that it can store details near to native/up scaled 2160p..... btw thanks for taking your time and fixing the camera for Le 2, really appreciate it!!!

How do i use install fix zip file guide me please
can i install it even im not using the original rom??
Great camera experience, using this as part of PixelExperience. Reporting on 24/12 build, very stable most of the time, but some random tinkering and switching back and forth froze and and eventually force closed the camera. Camera would FC upon reopening and hard reboot reset time and date. Will try to reproduce this and provide logs.
Otherwise, 16MP with 4:3 aspect ratio would be the very sweet cherry on top, maybe there's a chance you can make it fly

Install magisk and then flash the provided .zip module through magisk......after that install the provided GCAM .apk.....

Magisk is a software firmwork which helps you to control internal working of the roms, systemlessly....
Magisk Manager is the software which helps you to control Magisk and manage the modules installed.
You need magisk firmwork flashed through a custom recovery before hand, to make Magisk manager work, so that you can add modules and other fixes.....

You need magisk installed before, you can use magisk manager to install the modules.....

Did you try rear portrait mode on a person?? Cause as far as I know, portrait mode works only on people and not on objects....try doing that.... Lens Blur is what you need to blur backgrounds of objects....

No, only pie and oreo
Really good mod. I'm running it on LineageOS 15.1 and it works very well (some rare crashes, but mostly when navigating to Photos, not when taking pictures or recording videos). Night sight is a godsend for our device and it's crappy-on-low-light camera.
On the subject of making a great mod even better, do you have any plans to also implement support for slow-motion in this mod?

Slow motion is broken because of the drivers and not the app.
Probably the best Gcam mod around and the only one that is stable on pie roms. So, um will you update this mod anytime soon? Anyway you could add 4:3 16mp 2160p 4K mode? 11.9 mp is good but why isn't the rest of the pixels being used. Potriat mode works perfectly. Sometimes (rarely though) there is a greenish tinge to my photos. Another thing. Can you unlink it from Google photos? I mean on tapping the shot picture, it opens in photos. Can you link that to gallery instead because it takes a lot of time to load google photos on my phone. Also, when I add this app as shortcut on the lockscreen,and try to access it directly without unlocking the phone from lockscreen, it says that there is an error and camera doesn't have proper permissions and that I should grant it all permissions in settings. On checking in settings, all permissions are already granted. Can you look into that ? Otherwise a really great Job. Keep it up!

Install via TWRP. Sometimes magisk doesn't recognize a zip as a magisk module. If you install via twrp magisk will be invoked automatically.

I have been testing it (with default settings, HAL3 enabled and gcam front camera fix) and I found some bugs.
Sometimes, the shutter does not respond correctly and when I move the camera I can appreciate some lens distortion. I also noticed that the pictures taken with the rear camera are saved with a lot of background noise. It is normal?
If I disable HAL3 (into /vendor/build.prop), replace libmmcamera_platina_imx576_sunny.so (into /vendor/ lib/ ) and restart the device to be able to use the front camera, it takes photos but camera interface freezes instantly.
I am using Pixel Experience Pie (aosp version 2019 05 08) with Acrux Kernel 1.0.1 Stable

Put beauty mode to 0 and then you can shoot with front camera without freezing, noise is there, but pictures have much more details in comparation with stock mi 8 lite camera. I will post new version with night mode and longer default shutter speed soon, also i find how to fix beauty mode. Lens disortion is associated with cameraservice lib, stock lib from mi8 lite make lens totally distorted and wrongly oriented. I will try to fix disortion if i can. Miui camera from Pixel expirience don't use second lens for depth ??

Try to flash module with magisk, if camera app don't get installed you need to delete other camera apps manually via root file manager and flash again. With some roms camera won't get installed and after flashing you need to extract module and copy from priv-app miuicamera folder together with other libs in miuicamera priv-app in your phone

Use lib form my post, disable camera2api, and add this line to vendor/build.prop persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=0 Every app should work then with Pe, there is no benefit from Gcam if you broke everything with camera2 api enabled. Miui camera taking great photos now and portrait work perfect

So i need to edit build.prop
persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=0 to disable cam2api?
Prefer front cam from miui 24mp, and back cam from gcam, but i will try..
Exactly, copy lib in vendor and turn off HAL3 to 0, and everything will work perfect, but Gcam will be broken.

Yes, HHT mode can be fixed, accidentally i broke something and now seems like don't work, also different scenes can be added, problem is with Platina xml in device feature folder, some lines are wrong ??
