Rebrand Mate 10 Pro BLA-L09 8.0.0.125 (C34) to Asia/Inernational Version - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

I am new to Huawei. Currently on BLA-L09 8.0.0.125(C34) on Optus(AU). I want to rebrand it to Asia/International version.
The queries I have.
01. Can someone please point me to the right Zone Code (i.e. C34) which I should be using?
02. Is it safe to use ROM's for L29 in L09 set and change the Zone? (i.e. rebrand with L29 Asia/International ROM)
03. If I use a L29 Asia/International ROM and purchase a Dual Sim tray, does both the sim slot works?
Thanks in advance.

This thread is relevant to my interests (I also have a pro w/Optus).

I emailed the good guys at Funky Huawei. They pointed to me that, I need to change to C636. In settings, I can see two SIM support is now enabled. Ordered a dual SIM tray, once I get them delivered, I hope they do work. However, the only thing I am missing is the VoLTE support. The option is not in the settings anymore. I wont certainly wont miss the option much but still trying to find a way. Apart from that, the ROM is smooth.

where did you order the dual sim tray?

Dual SIM tray: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32839373856.html?spm=a2g0n.orderList.0.0.46bba3fd8GRypZ

Did you have to pay for the firmware and/or installation tool(s) from funky or did you do it some other way?

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for that. I paid and followed instructions with FH.

That's cool, how did you find the process? Easy enough? How much did you pay? What was your motivation to change your firmware? I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions

I did it because I needed the dual sim support that wasn't present with the firmware I was using.
The process honestly it's pretty straightforward, I can't complain.

Look like there no hope of having a lineage OS for our mate 10. It has been so long and no developer had build any of it.

I am also looking into rebranding.
Did you check with FH guys about support for Optus VoLTE???

I tried to flash firmware from Huawei frimware finder and bricked my Mate 10 pro. Is there any way I can fix it by flashing the stock firmware again?

I also have a m8 10 pro with optus. Thinking of doing this too hows reception any changes? Also does the AI still work i hear if you root then it gets disabled could you confirm it still works?

You don't need root to rebrand using FH tool.

Upon re branding I have lost VoLTE on optus. Today I have got the dual sim tray and I can confirm that it works. Using 131 C636 ROM

You could rebrand back to Optus model and have both VoLTE and dual sim. Even if you rebrand to a single-sim branding, FHRebrandTool gives you dual sim. The only caveat is, if you're on a single-sim branding, you can't put a PIN code on your sim card.

I'm I'm c34 and can't even get volte to work. Optus have been useless.
My Sim has volte enabled, as my wife's mate 10 pro has it working wth it.
After hours of 'tech support's and a trip to the useless staff as the store, the only advice I received was "can you come back tomorrow".
Useless.

dual sim

Hi.
Am I being stupid or does my UK version not have dual SIM support? I cannot see how to fit in the 2nd SIM.
uk version doesnt have dual sim
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/huawei-mate-10-pro-carphone-warehouse-t3700587
if i was you i'd return and get amazon.de to deliver to uk address.
There is space for a second SIM on the UK version. Maybe its just software holding it back from being dual SIM?

I was thinking the same thing! I know the BLA L29 dual sim software can be flashed no problems it's been confirmed as working. What hasn't been confirmed is if we buy a dual sim card tray will the second SIM work?
It's been confirmed that if you rebrand using FHRebrandTool (NOT FHMate10Tool) the second sim becomes usable with a new tray.
Just flashing new software will not work. You must rebrand to L29.
But what about the second modem? I believe your phone has one IMEI number, hence single modem. It should be a hardware issue rather than software.

Yes. It will use one IMEI for both sims. But it works for people who tried it.

Wouldn't using 2 SIMs on the same network with 1 IMEI cause issues? Based on my understanding previously working for a UK network Provider.
It doesnt sound very promising.

You'd think so, but people have reported it works. I don't have a single-sim device to test it on, but at least in Spain it's confirmed working.

Just Ordered my Mate 10 PRO! What are steps i should take?

Hey everyone! Decided to buy a mate 10 pro, mainly because of the battery life. I wanted to know if there are any things that should be done when i get it? I've heard of people flashing different carriers or something? What is that? Why does it cost? (Not used to paying for this, excuse the ignorance). Thanks in advanced!

It depends on where you bought your phone (country, network provider or naked ...)
Mine is naked on international/asia version (code C636) and I did nothing special.
I agree with you that the paying ****yHuawei ... is not something I would use except if I brick my phone, it's not the philosophy of XDA in my opinion.
Don't put a three UK SIM card in it if your not with three, it installs a load of bloat and splash screen that you can't get rid of

I'm curious, does the Pro model support disabling the navigation bar and using the fingerprint sensor instead, similar to the standard Mate 10?

Im afraid there is no way until the US mate 10 pro is out and flash that firmware. And if thats same as mate 9, only volte works not wifi calling.

You can disable the navigation bar, but then you're not using the fingerprint sensor but what they call "navigation dock".

Don't think you can, as soon as you insert a three sim it rebrands it's self to three
That's really stupid... Does it get rid of it when you insert another network sim?

Unfortunately not , 3 UK, still on 108.
Yeah, I have it. Vodafone UK
EE still sits on 108
Yeh got it here on Vodafone.
So by the looks of it Vodafone are the 1st in UK.
AI filters are now in Video settings. Not many other changes as far as I can see.
Will keep poking around to see if there are any other changes.
tell me, why should it be provider related?
as i understand (coming from OP6, so maybe i missunderstand) the normal firmware will be updated, no matter what provider information you have, as it comes with da different kind of "firmware" package? so everybody should (in a perfect world) get it as fast as the others?

So far, I can't replicate the crackling noise anymore after update so looking positive

There's the Manufacturer provided firmware (which would be nice to have) and then there's the Carrier provided version with their own "tweaks" in.
The manufacturer (in this case Huawei) will supply it to the Carriers who then add on their own customisations.
It's not unusual

There was popping sound when I started and closed apps like Clash Royale and YouTube but this is gone after 122 update.
What I'd love to know is if this new firmware (122) makes third party launchers much more compatible. Anyone, please?
Sounds like we should get some Sim cards for the fastest carrier update. If a phone is sold sim free it shouldn't have any kind of carrier tweaks
So I brought my phone from 3. But I have a Vodafone and EE SIM in it. Never put a three sim in it. Am I still reliant on three for updates?

Manually enabling Dual Sim using tasker or programatically?

I have an unlocked UK find X2 pro and I don't feel like going through the switching region process just to enable the dual sim. I already purchased a dual sim tray for this.
So I found this old reddit to enable this manually for a Samsung phone using tasker:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/b0a1o5
Now I would the need the help of someone with a dual sim OPPO phone (probably better if its a X2 Pro) and monitoring enabling the second sim with adb shell settings list system
Any volunteer?
This probably worked on older android and is samsung specific. Chances of this working are really low but I guess someone could give it a try.
But, I did notice if you unlock your phone using the method in "Change region" thread instead of actually changing your region try typing "*#*#4636#*#*", go into "Phone Information" and see if you can toggle "Enable DSDS"

All models of the X2 Pro are dual SIM. Just the functionality has been disabled by Oppo in the EU because of GDPR.

That's after unlocking the phone with the "Sec5.exe" way from the "Change region.." thread right? Not talking about SIM unlocked(international) phones.
The change happens after you select another region not after you unlock the phone using this method so if you wanna keep everything the same you just unlock it without switching to Singapore.
Oh I didnt know there were 2 types of unlocking. My phone is SIM unlocked yes I bought it from an official UK retailer directly.
Would this void the warranty?

I see thanks, I dont know if I want to take the risk so Ill try to do it without that unlocking method for now.
Few android development things that I found that could be tried:
Android DualSim, ways/task/api to turn off second sim every day at same hour

The problem is, I am not in the UK, I ordered the phone from the UK, but in my country, we don't have an OPPO service center.. :/ So that's why I am asking for a self-service way to do it. I have installed custom ROMs to phones before, I quite know how to do things here and there.
@AnthonyMkD even if there are no actual Oppo Service centers where you live there probably are some sort of service providers/companies which act as Oppo's official service partners and do all the repairs for them. They should be able to do that. It's the same where I live.

I can confirm OTA does work, I haven't personally used eSIM but the option is there in the settings along with dual SIM after conversion. Flash an older firmware to verify that you can get OTAs then relock. That's what I did. Attached a screenshot just to confirm

I don't have an esim to download. I use physical Sims cause it's more convenient for me, if I was still on Google Fi I could test for you but can't sadly. The hardware supports it and the software support is there on the EU ROM, don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm assuming it's either 2 physical Sims or one physical and one eSIM if you're wanting dual sims
