My Redmi note 4x OS in a continuously endless reboot loop - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

My Redmi Note 4x have a question with a continuously endless reboot loop after I add an external SD card (Sandisk Extreme Pro/ 32G) into SIM card holder that it be set as internal storage. However, the OS work normally after external SD card is unmounted.
Is there any way to set an external SD card as internal storage?
32G internal storage is not enough for me~~~
Thanks for anyone helping.

Are you on miui? Or on a custom rom? I don't really know if miui has an option to set sd card as internal storage, but i know custom roms have them. Regarding the bootloop, disable the feature from settings so you can end the bootloop

My suggestion is to upgrade to aosp extended v5.1 since v5.0 isnt going to be much updated plus it has bugs. Maybe that's am issue to the rom. Just boot in the phone without the sd card, then when the phone is on insert the sd card and format it normally. Then u can just copy the zips and flash them.

You can use titanium backup, but unfortunately that's the only thing :highfive:

More a question,if I only back up all the data, cache etc which are existing in AOSP ROM 5.0 except for system, can all things which are described above restore to AOSP ROM 5.1 after ROM 5.0 be upgraded and backup file be flashed via TWRP ?
In a nutshell, I don't want to lost things which were installed in AOSP ROM 5.0~~

As the above friend said, you can use titanium backup to backup all your apps that you have installed and then restore them after upgrading rom. It's pretty easy and from my experience you might have to configure some apps again, but all will be restored.

[Q] Can't see internal SD card

I Just went from the Resurrection Remix v1.7 to the HyDrOG3N-ICS 02.05 and now i can't see my internal SD card. When i go into apps like gallery and what not it says no external storage available. It was working all fine before this. So i tried to re download the Resurrection Remix v1.7 and install it but it says i need an sd card to download. However i can reflash the HyDrOG3N-ICS 02.05 rom in CWM from my internal SD card, so it kinda knows it's there.
It seems i have a bit of a predicament. Any ideas?
Try flash the mounting fix ~~ it solve my internal storage after flashing it~~

Thanks man that worked a treat. Took me a while to actually get the mounting fix on there but eventually managed it by connecting to pc in CWM.

Look here, 1 post.
have you tried connecting it to the computer to see the sd?
SD card problems
I hope it will help.
1. If the card is invisible in phone, control it via card reader.
2. formatting/partitions making usually fix the problems in the phone
3.In phone control if the card is mounted in the system ( menu-system-settings-SD&phone storage) if yes and still invisible - remount/mount.
4. For fixing some issues and partitions ( stabilizing SD too+ no data loosing with this tool) you can use Partition Mini Tool - also suitable for SD preparation for moving Dalkik to SD via a2sdgui ( not supported anymore) and above - system 2/3/4.
Basically : If card is invisible in reader, theres problem with card.
If is visible in phone only - problem is in mounting/flashing/formatting in phone.

[Q] Internal SD card not accessible on RESURRECTION REMIX 1.8.1

Hi there!
I just switched from litening rom 2.7 with siyah 3.1.2 kernel to the newest version of ressurection remix rom 1.8.1. I did factory reset and all the cache wipes. All is working well and I must say that this is the best rom i've had so far...
Apart from the fact that my internal SD is not recognized (I don't have an external SD card). The internal SD is available in recovery mode, so i tried flashing the siyah kernel that was still on there. This didn't help. I have been searching in the FAQ but i seem to be the only one with this problem?
Does somebody have a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply but that thread is not applicable to my situation.
I am having trouble accessing the internal memory of my s2, NOT the external SD (which I don't have). This total of 16 GB is divided in a partition for the operating system and apps on one side, and a partition for data (around 11 GB) on the other side. I can't access this last partition for some kind of reason..
I tried flashing other kernel and flashing the whole ROM again (with al wipes en factory reset)
Any suggestions?

If u go to Mnt/sdcard what do u see?
Using XDA Premium over Resurrection Remix ICS, the Best Rom ever made
just change the connection mode.
Settings - Storage Size - Clic on Menu Button - PC Connection - And select the one that you want
Thank you for your responses.
If i go to Mnt/sdcard it says "this folder is empty"
My internal SD can't be empty cause I just flashed the Ressurection ROM from it.
Changing the settings doesn't solve anything.

I'm running Omni rom (infected version) 4.4.2 and it does read the micro sd card.
May I know which other Kitkat roms have you tried already?
SlimKat can access external SD too.. I think it's not the ROM problem?
OmniROM by @infected_ can do this

umm most haha i flashed most like Slimkat and pound ,omni bfor too and beanstalk< but i have a media scanning issue i belive.. cuz it wont show my all of my sd card content and especially in EsFileExplorer it wont open my micro sdcard< i duno why its like that with most kitkat based roms, even with the latest 4.4.2 < im currently stayin on stock based rom it gives much better battery life.. hmm guess i will just wait till kitkat can do more or smthn.
Try other microSD card and test if it doesn't work too. Can You see her in CWM? (via mount and maybe Aroma Filemanager). I had similar problem with 32GB card - too much data I deleted ~3GB and after that it works..
Sometimes it's an unlucky combination of various factors, so ext is not read by the OS and eventually maybe not even through custom recovery, but SlimBean KitKat beta can read and write it just fine (tested and it's working).
Edit:
Speaking of the devil... my SanDisk just refused to function... will get it substed as soon as the holidays are over, still nothing to do with KitKat or any other Android OS, it's a faulty card IMO.

Cyanogenmod 12-20141126-UNOFFICIAL-KLTE ... No External SD card found please help

Hello,
I am new to this thread and to rooting. I have a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S5, rooted, lollipop 5.0, with cyanogenmod 12. This Cyanogenmod does not recongize my external sd card at all. i have been googling this and trying different things but nothing has worked so far.
1) My primary concern is to enable my external sd card
if 1 is not possible, i can settle for 2
2) make my external sd card as my "internal sd storage"
The internal 12GB storage is just simply not enough.
If anyone is able to help me, i would GREATLY appreciate it.
If a moderator can move this to the proper area please do
Thank you everyone!
why not try the latest nighlty + latest opengapps? both are very stable..
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=klte

New kernel (from May 13th, used in AEROM and Darksense 2.0.x) cannot access SD card?

Hi!
I could not post this to the Development forum (new member so I'll try it here:
I've installed the DarkSense ROM 2.0.1 which is using a new kernel (extracted from AEROM v2). After fullwipe and install, the system cannot use the SD card anymore. At system start, it tells the SD card is damaged --> select "Portable Storage" and format SD card --> still shows as defect after format.
I've already tried to change filesystem to FAT, exFAT, EXT3, EXT4 using TWRP and reboot afterwards--> all show the same error.
I am using the following card: Kingston SDCA3/128 GB microSDXC (UHS-I U3)
I now flashed back Eragon ROM v2 and all is working well again with the SD card.
So question is: what is responsible for this behaviour? New kernel possibly? Anybody tried the new kernel (either AEROM v2 or DarkSense 2.0.1) with an SD card?
Cheerio!

Can you try the following for me please.
1. Flash my ROM, no need to reboot, just after you've flashed it go to TWRP backup settings and backup boot.img
2. Flash Eragon v2.0
3. Go to TWRP restore and restore boot.img
4. Reboot and test
If it is dodgy after that then its definitely the kernel, otherwise its the new system files from the 20160513 base that are causing the issues.
Cheers.

I did the suggested procedure (with full wipe before installing first ROM DarkSense).
Result: SD card was recognized correctly and working.
So it seems it's the new system files...

OK thanks a lot for testing it out for me, I'll have a look and see what I can do
I have same issue with Darksense 2.0.1 and 128 GB MicroSD-Card from SanDisk UHS-I. SD Card worked fine for a while, but then the described error occurred and it says SD-Card is damaged. It started after i put some new files onto SD-Card (never had that problem with Eragon-ROMs).
Thx for checking that issue...

Different base used on the different ROM's, go back to 1.0.0 on my ROM if its a issue as a short fix for now whilst I look into it further.
@jonny: thx for fast reply and help with that great ROM. I currently do not use the phone as my 'default' phone so it's fine for playing around with the ROM. I will stay on the 2.0.1 and update to 2.1.0. Did you had time to update SD behaviour in 2.1.0 Version?

Not in 2.1.0 no - I think what I'm probably going to do is revert back to the older, but more stable 20160419 base in future versions.
Ok this seems to be a really intermittent issue, it just happened to me and I rebooted and it was fine again... this new base is causing both me and skeleton1911 no end of issues lol.
What I can do is continue the 1.x.x series of ROM's if you want until the base gets a bit more stable or until I hunt down which file(s) are causing the problems. For instance I can bring the new kernel and my fixed Xposed script over to the old base if its something you guys would be interested in, its not a lot of work so I don't mind.
Let me know what you think!
Cheers
Sounds good to me! Although I'm still waiting for my P9000 to arrive, probably tomorrow.
Seems like the better choice to continue with the older base for now, as the latest base isn't 100% reliable (yet).
Just my 2 cts though... ☺
I did a fresh install of your ROM, it didn't like the SD card, so I formatted it. I then copied some files across from the laptop. I then started getting the SD card corrupted messages. If I format, it just gives me the exact same message instantly.
I'm not sold on the new base, so would prefer the older base with the new kernel if that helps.
I'm hoping to get this phone up to standard (decent battery etc) and I can then sell my Sony Z5
I'm running Aerom V2 and don't have this issue. I have a Samsung SD card which was already formatted and it works fine. I've had Aerom on my phone for three days now without a problem?

I prefer v1.0, especially adaway!
Another bug I've noticed with the latest version is double texts being sent using messaging app. Not really a problem as I have unlimited plan...
Xposed is what I really want though.

I've answered that a few posts further up/on the last page, can't remember exactly where.
I'm working on it but slowly at the moment, spent the last few days revising for a 2 hour Java exam today, now revising for a 2 hour Maths exam on Wednesday.
Thank you
