Force 4G connectivity - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Simple question, is there a way to force mate 10 pro to stay connected in 4G ?
With my previous phone I was using an app, which had more choice than the android's setting menu, where there was a "4G only". But it's not working with the mate 10 pro.
thanks

Did you try that :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
Can't do it on my phone too without third-party app

Huawei must have disabled the network selection options because every phone I've had you could always enter *#*#4636#*#* in the dialler and you could toggle 4g only in one of the menus.
It seems you can enter the menu by dialling in *#*#6130#*#* but you still can't select the network options

@sonydesouza It is not working. It seems like all apps like this one are not working with Huawei. @mad.jack10 Yes you're right, that's why I'm looking if there is not a way, still.

Hmmm ok
Strange ?

The Huawei Mate 8 still had that option, even in the quick pull-down menu as extra button. I miss that option also.

I might have find something with a tool from the team behind FirmwareFinder. They have an "EMUI tweaker" and there is an option to force 4G but ... not sure it's compatible with the mate 10 pro.

Found the Solution:
In Settings Database Editor, find the line "hw_add_4g_only". For me it was set to "250" (Russia only).
Change this to "250;[yourMCC]" (in my case "250;262" for Germany) and reboot.

Thanks for the hint!
if the phone is not rooted, will it be a problem?
could you please explain about where this editor is (or how to edit this setting)?
thanks in advance!!
i'm wondering if there's a way to enable Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE (both options are missing from my Mate 10)

If it's not rooted you won't be able to edit database settings.
But this method doesn't work on my Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
Is there any better way to force Huawei in LTE

Incorrect do not need root permissions.

Guys, please try this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/me...te-4g-mode-t3828656/post77318151#post77318151

thank a lot.
its work for me.

Works for me too, this may be of interest to those like me on 2degrees network as our provider has switched off the 2g spectrum. Setting 12 (auto 4g/wcdma) may save battery if your phone happens to be looking for a network that's not there.
Likely saves nothing tho... will see.

Hello all , I am really close to buy the phone but I want to ask about one vital functionality which I am not sure if the Poco supports it. So can you test if poco can have "any" two apps in split view? Also, there is an option in the developers secret menu which you choose "enable all apps to be resizabe" then reboot, and test again if now it works.
I would really appreciate if anyone test and tell me.Thanks.

Split screen is supported, not all apps though
I found the setting in developer options, enabled, rebooted but the apps that weren't supported earlier could not be used in split screen still.
Hope this helps.
Thanks exactly what I wanted to know. So you checked the settings"" enable all apps to be resizabe"" the rebooted and after did you verify if that option was enabled (ticked) after the reboot? In the picture it is not ticked.
Some Xiaomi phones allow that but some not. It will be strange if this powerhouse can't do that but Redmi Note 5 Pro can!

Yes, settings on - reboot - tried split screen
I switched the settings off after the apps did not work in split screen.
Have access to a redmi note 5 pro, will try there too.

SIP calling in EMUI 9.1

Is it me or is the stock SIP setting in the dialer not available ?
Anyway i have tried now about 10 different SIP clients and it seems that they do not stay active in the background.
Does anyone have better experiences and would like to share ?

I'm afraid it wont work as it may need carrier support. That's why it doesn't stay running in the background. It's like the spam call filter on my s10 plus. I can turn it on but after awhile or a reboot it reverts back to its default which is disabled. Just my 2 cents.

The option is available on my OP6T, it is just not available on the P30 Pro. (see link in third post)
And when enabled it worked fine, so it is not blocked by my provider, but it is not working in EMUI 9.1
This just enables calling via VOIP over 3g/4g of Wifi.
Other softphone clients that i tried are 98% of the time unreachable.
Only when i open the softphone then it worked.
So background operation is very limited on EMUI i guess
Haven´t tried it myself on the p30, but if you are using a app for that i bet you have to set the battery optimizations of the app to off, Huawei is quite aggressive with background apps (had a lot problems with garmin connect for example).
You have to do that in 2 points:
settings, apps, apps, *the app you use*, details for battery consumption, app start => set everything to manual and allow it
settings, apps, apps, the three dots on the top right, special rights, battery optimization, *the app you use*, disable/don´t allow
The app should now run fine, garmin connect had the exact same problem, i constantly lost connection with my watch/tracker before
So it's not possible to enable it in any way? I've installed the Google dialer and I still don't have option to add a SIP account.
try Voip by Antisip
in and out.. is similar native sip

Wi-Fi calling not working

Since latest update my WiFi calling not working.
It wasn't even showing on settings
I contacted Huawei at twitter they told me to reset my network settings which I did.
It brought back the WiFi calling on settings its on but its not working.
Is there any way to get it fixed?
WiFi calling is the most important thing for me as I don't get signal at home at all.
Latest update brought a lot of problems they gotta fix it ASAP.
Fingerprint doesn't work most of the time
Vibrate itself, non stop notification sound.
What version?
Maybe you need to factory reset your phone with doing a backup before [emoji106]

I can only get the vowifi icon if I'm not in cellular range but have wifi, you can test this, put the phone into Airplane mode and re-enable wifi, I can now make wifi calls. What I can't see is if 4G calling is enabled or working....it might be but I have no indications

it's for touch focus timeout,
some other setting details :
MFNR => Multi-frame noise reduction
SR=> automatic scene optimization
Dual SAT => camera takes picture with dual camera and then combines them in one picture (every camera shoot's in her best optical range)
Anti banding option is i believe to remove bands caused from power lines (lights) and freq. in which they operate (60 Hz, 50 Hz or auto)
Confirming that this works with the Global update to Android 10.
There is a new option at the bottom, in Chinese. Does anyone know what it is?

Question Does Network Signal Guru display the QCI?

I test prepaid plans and part of that process involves checking the QCI. I know that Exynos modems have limitations that Snapdragon ones don't. My Pixel 3 XL unfortunately is not supported for NSG and if I can test this with a 6, I'll definitely upgrade. Can someone who has root run NSG and see if it shows the QCI? I believe it normally shows on the second screen you can swipe to. The QCI is your network priority designation which basically tells you if your plan is deprioritized or not so it's valuable information for prepaid customers to have when evaluating if a plan is good for them.
Here's an example of what the page looks like.

Thank you very much!
Did you have to do anything special to get it working or just stock with root?
I am running stock rooted with Magisk since Google doesn't support VoLTE/VoWiFi in my country and I need to go via this route to have a complete phone...
By the way, how would you rate my QCI rating being at 5? Is this good/bad/average?
Thank you!

Awesome, it's great to hear it works without needing custom ROM or kernel because my 3 XL it doesn't work even with a custom ROM or kernel.
That page is actually reading the IMS QCI, I believe you need to swipe one screen left to get your data QCI. Data QCI runs from 6-9 under the standard model we use in the states with 6 being the highest priority and 9 being the lowest. I would imagine that this is universal since it's actually a 3GPP standard.
@mightyvenom So I actually just went and looked and it should be showing on that same page. I read in another thread that there is an issue if DSDS is turned on that NSG can get confused. If you disable it in *#*#4636#*#* and try again, does it show you the info?
It would be strange to not be able to read the QCI of the data APN but it's only seeing the IMS APN for some reason.

I just checked and DSDS is already disabled by default....while there is another option "Cbrs Data" enabled by default.
Does this help somewhat?
PS: I checked the other screens in NSG and there is no other info on this QCI parameter.

Hmmm I wonder if it's your carrier's settings.
I asked in this thread to see if there is something that can be done to fix it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-the-pixel-6-exynos.4380231/post-86325917
You would need to perform a new attach while NSG is running in order to see the QCI for default bearer. Just toggle airplane mode.
Rooted on Jan update won't boot... Uninstalled and reinstalled the app... Anyone have a work around for this issue?
