How to play HDR-Videos on the Mate 10 Pro? - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Today I tried to convert a 4K movie with HDR to watch it on my Mate 10 Pro.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to recognize HDR
The sample video Huawei provides looks amazing.
But how will I be able to enjoy any other HDR video?
Btw, Youtube HDR videos work.

I just moved to my device some 4k files with hdr downloaded from the net like LG and Samsung ads and all work great with HDR in the main video app.
How does YouTube videos work while YouTube does not yet support Huawei HDR as they did with Samsung?

Just look for iYTBP for HDR support here on XDA
BTW, I found the problem with the video files.
After re-encoding the HDR metadata was gone.
So there wasn't anything for my Mate to recognize

4k video shooting

Hi
I've found out that I can make 4K videos with the original application. No problem there. But I can try any other apk installed from play and cannot make a 4K video, the maximum resolution I can use is something about 3264x1836 but no UHD...
It seems to me like some system problem. To tell the truth I haven't tried other apks to shoot video but was curious with cinema 4k. It used to work OK on my LG G4 but with my new LG V10 no UHD resolution.
Has someone out there a problem like this?
Thanks.
Tibor
Edit: tried later a factory reset but still no UHD with Cinema 4K

Camera: 1080p 60fps videos not recognized by YouTube

Dears,
I've always been uploading 1080p 60fps videos to YouTube with my old S8.
Well, it doesn't work with S9+, videos are recognized as normal 1080p 30 fps.
Here's the original file.
Here's the same on Youtube.
And here's a working video on Youtube, it shows 1080p60 in fact.
Issue is confirmed uploading from app and web.
I'm on stock G965FXXU1BRF8, rooted with Magisk, /system/lib/liboemcrypto.so deleted to make VOD apps work, as on the old S8.
Any suggestions?
Thanks everybody.

Front camera 4K video working - Open Camera

So I was trying Open Camera and testing various frame rates and resolutions but I found out something interesting. I turned on 4K resolution of front camera video and tried it. It somehow worked. I looked at the resolution of the video via Google Photos and it showed me resolution 2160x4096. Is this a bug or it is just FHD video somehow converted into 4k? Thanks.
thats amazing 4k
i have used open camera before, and this is real 4k , it look amazing when i watch on the laptop

How to get the same colors like hdr10+ while editing?

When i record video in hdr10+ the video player automatically adds boosted colors to the footage when playing but when i import the footage into any video editing app the footage has bland colors.
How Can I Get The Same Colors When Exporting The Footage into Any App?
1st img : colors in video player app
2nd imge : colors in editing app
if I need to quickly shorten the video myself, I do it in the standard video editor on the phone, but if it's a longer video and has more editing, I use Adobe Premiere on the computer.
I'm not happy when I shoot something in HDR+ and I can't send the same shot through social networks because the colors are immediately washed out.
Sometimes I use the method to upload a video to YouTube or Google Drive and then download it and then the colors are not washed out because it is overcompressed.

Not like pro but you need convert bideo first because players cant play hdr+.
Easy way, after record video upload it to youtube than download some video via studio manager than other players can play without loosing colors.
You can and convert video.
Yea i do not like it but i do not kniw other solutions.
You need to find an HDR to SDR process. There are many in Youtube depending your editing software. I use Davinci. The process is called "Convert REC2020 to REC709". But the result will not be acurate if you don't have the camera profile (LG V60) and I haven't found it anywhere on the internet, so you need to find or make a LUT that makes the colors of the REC709 (SDR) video to match the ones as it looks on the phone. For previewing the correct colors, I am using MPV player with a configuration to view HDR videos on my SDR monitor (it does the convertion on the fly) and the videos look very good right out of the phone.
