Hello guys, and today i'll be sharing a great post with you guys that how can you use Google Pixel 2's Portrait effect on Your Snapdragon 400 Series Powered android devices, (as of now i have tested on Redmi 5A) and it working super fine, like i am able to capture Front Cam Bokeh shots, and rear cam portrait images, so in this post i'll show you how to enable or use Google Pixel 2's Modded Camera on Your Redmi 5A
so first of all i would like to thanks Senior XDA developers @Arnova8G2 and @miniuser123 for improving these kind of port.
Disclaimer:
guys the process requires Root Access to enable Camera2API, so it will void your warranty, and also if you dont follow the steps correctly you can brick your device, do it at your own risk, AndroWide is not responsible for any issues caused to your phone after rooting or during the process.
Known Bugs :
After enabling Camera2API on Redmi 5A MIUI camera does't work (you can disable the Camera2API at any time to use stock camera),
Video Recording is not working on GCMode Camera as of now on Redmi 5A.
Now let me tell you that what you will have to do to achieve this camera port on you device.
Steps :
Unlock Your Bootloader
Download Magisk.zip file and LazyFlasher.zip files and put it on your Redmi 5A's Internal Storage and also download the GCMode camera apk and put put it on your device
Download and install ADB & Fastboot Drivers on Your Laptop/PC
Download latest adb folder (extract it to desktop)
Download the official TWRP for Redmi 5A and ( copy twrp-3.2.1-0-riva.img to the adb folder)
Now boot you device into fastboot mode (simply press and hold volume down + power key for upto 5 seconds)
now connect your device with the pc and open the adb folder,
now press & hold shift key and press right click on the screen to open command window AKA powershell window (just open the command window)
now type command:
fastboot devices
now it will show you some random string (that means you device has been detected)
now run the following command :
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-riva.img
now type the following command :
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-riva.img
now your device will boot into recovery mode just swipe right,
now click on install and select the LazyFlasher.zip file, after flashing done, just reboot your device,
now again boot into twrp recovery by pressing and holding volume Up+power key at the same time for upto 6 seconds
now again click on install and this time select magisk.zip file and wait until it shows done, now just reboot your device
and download the magisk manager app and install it, now download build prop editor from play store and edit the build.prop file (make sure to make a backup of your stock build.prop file)
now add the following line in build.prop file
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 save the file and reboot your device.
now install the GCMod Camera which you have downloaded in the step one and make the following settings.
go to GCMod Settings, Click on Config camera HDR+ and select Nexux 5X, and click on model and select Nexus 5X, now scroll down and go to advanced and Enable HDR+ Control,
Now Just force close the GCMod Camera and now you can capture great portrait images with the front cam as well as rear cam.

Does Other in-app like WhatsApp camera while video calling work if we force close default camera and continue using google camera. Also will we still receive updates from xiaomi if we unlock the bootloader? And can we relock the bootloader later?

Video calling will not work after enabling camera2api, xiaomi does not prevent installing ota update in unlocked bootloader but if you rooted and installed custom recovery or modified the system then you cannot install ota update, yes you can relock your bootloader

MIUI camera can work alongside GCam since they have different package names. com.android.camera for MIUI Camera and com.google.android.camera for Google Camera.

unlocking bootloader?

Unlocking the bootloader is possible with the xz1? Because here the xz1 is not listed.
https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
You can do this, but you can't backup the DRM keys before. After opening the bootloader the keys get lost and no solution the restore these after closing the bootloader.
You got me wrong, I wanted to know if there is a way to unlock, there is no support from Sony for it like for other xperias. I don't care for DRM.
Got a point. Cant see any entry naming xz/s/premium/1 eventough its an open device. Im gonna search the "Web"
---------- Post added at 02:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:10 AM ----------
Ive chosen xz and got a code. I did not try to unlock but you can try
Just use xz it's work ! (tested on XZ1c)

I used XZ Premium unlock för my XZ1 Dual Sim. All OK
I'm on FW 47.1.A.5.51
I have not rooted it yet, since the only way seems to build yourself, either complete rom or magisk. Maybe I try to fix root though MAGisk one of those days, doen´s seems too hard (see here). My problem is I don't know how to get a stock boot image dump of the 47.1.A.5.51 firmware. In the domnloaded ROM there is only a lot of .sin-files. I do not know how to build a boot.img(.tar) out of it and I don't know how to extract it from my phone without root
Since I lost DRM keys, the camera takes green pictures.
The front camera works in manual mode if HDR is enabled in camera settings.
The back camera does not work and XZ solution with google camera
doesn´t work for back camera (front camera work with google camera version 4.3.016.147548696, but I rather use sony stock with HDR ON)
I have not tested Snap Camera HDR
I found a free camera where everything seems to work, both cameras and both pictures and video. Footej Camera
Apps using camera functionallity does not work. both cameras give green pictures
Status right now.
BL unlocked
No root method known (closes at hand through magisk)
Stock camera works with HDR enabled
Back camera takes green pictures, no known solution

I've seen this and I suppose I should extract kernel.sin, but whatabout the ramdisk that´s normally in a boot image?
I just haven´t dared yet since I´m scared to brick my phone if I get the boot image wrong

Once you extract the kernel SIN file, you'll see that it's a standard Android boot image.
You can work with it using the normal tools.

Ok, I got a boot.img extracted from my kernel.sin
I patch in Magisk in it according to this post
I tried both last stable v14.0 and lastest expremental v14.5
When I flash the pached result, the v14.0 version halts on boot at sony logo and the v14.5 bootloops
Fortunately flashing the original boot.img I initially extracted brings my phone back to life.
It seems to me that Magisk simply doesn't work for XZ1 dual.

I used this on 5T and it did work super.
But i am wondering if this is working for view10 or not... V10 requires a unique code to unlock BL, where do we provide that code here?
Also rooting v10 requires an img to be flashed. Is this tool working?
Anyone tested all these features on View10??

I have tested it on my honor view 10, to unlock your bootloader you still need of huawei unlock codes, always remember this tool automate process not bypass it (except it is not specified). This tool can't root the phone directly
EDIT: there is a little bug when you try to unlock the bootloader and your phone is in powered on and recognized in adb mode, i'm releasing a new version to fix it at this moment
EDIT 2: update released

2. Recovery Zip flasher

Honor 10 is not supported officially, you cant do a recovery backup with this tool
Hi guys.
I'm looking forward for Honor View 10 or Honor 10, and as I'm with Samsung S8, I'm trying to understand if these Honor devices can receive a recovery consol or be rooted in a way that can be restored to stock without being noticed from official assistance in case I'll need to go for an assistance in warranty.
Second, as I'm with Samsung since years, I've always seen to need a recovery consol and a root package to flash (as standard classic methods) for having complete access to phone, while here I read about unlocking and unlocking cuts from Honor (that I'm reading now it seams that they stopped to release easily the code needed), recovery, bootloader and other things that I'm completely lost in reading
I'm not speaking of the strict interest in flashing alternative roms, but at least to have the possibility to clean the phone deeply once in a while manually with SD-Maid, RootExplorer and other apps (maybe you know of more professional...) so for it not to get fat and more fat in time, with the possibility to clean corps and old unused system files without the need of a wipe, so to have a slim internal sd-card as much as I can (specially if I'll go for the Honor 10)
So please explain me a bit of what is this Honor world as I'm really willing to they one even tomorrow!!
Thanks to allall.

Hey buddy, thanks for this amazing tool. I need to know, if there's need of the Bootloader Code for unlocking it on a Honor V10?
Also, if I need to add a phone that's in similar state as this phone (LG Stylus 2 Plus, currently not supported by LG for unlocking with their tool), can I send everything that you may need for making the tool compatible with it?
Thanks in advance!

Before Starting This Process Get A USB2 Mini Hub You Are Most Likely Going Too Need It. Do Not Come In Here And Post This Is Not Working Until You Have Tried It With The USB2 Mini Hub!
You Must Start From Stock U Firmware. IT Seems To Be The Less Likely To Brick Your Device As Explained In The Disclaimer!
Disclaimer Please Read!!
This may brick your device there is a problem especially with s8 and note 8 models where the tz partition becomes corrupted and on some occasions after flashing combination firmware your phone will become bricked and as of now there is no way to fix it. There is no way to predict if it will happen. It doesn’t seem too happen very often on s8+ but it does occasionally happen on the other 2 models so do this at your own risk. I would say it probably happens 10 percent of the time on s8 and note 8 especially when on bit 6 or higher firmwares. S8+ it rarely happens too but it still may. If you take the risk and it happens do not pm me asking how to fix it as of time I posted this there is no way to fix it
Please Read Notes
OEM Toggle Does Nothing On US Model Phones
You will most likely need a USB 2 mini hub for Odin to work if using windows 8 or higher. I would temporarily disable windows defender or antivirus software while performing the procedure with your computer.
You cannot have root on any rom except a nougat rom also flashing custom boot images cannot be done or using systemless magisk. Hiding root or running modules cannot be done. There is no oem unlock and even if there is you cannot unlock your bootloaders or run any aosp based roms.
You can be on any firmware to achieve safestrap but to run a rooted rom you will be limited to using a special nougat android 7 rom. You can have safestrap on pie android 9 which gives you some ability to modify system files flash zips etc and have access too data and other partitions that are normally blocked but you can not run root on android 9 because root on android 9 requires a modified boot image
Anything here with a .7z extension will get unzipped before using

Thank you guys for keeping this nice device alive.
I'm just glad we was able to stick it to em once again ???
Thank you all.
Wow!!!
Finaly!
Exited to try out latter today. Been looking and hoping for a way to have my Galaxy S8 950u rooted.
BTW, which rooted roms could I install after fallowing this process?
Will this root method work for S8+ SM-G955U Android 9?
Due to accidentally deleting my Music folder files, the only way I understand to recover the MP3s (not backed up on Google or Samsung Cloud) is to first root the phone, then install a 3rd party software program to recover them. Will this method work on my S8+ SM-G955U, Android version 9, Build PPR1.180610.011.G955USQS7DTB1 ? If not, would you please link me to the root method that will work?
Thanks!

No look in the s8+ threads for your method Only issue is once you root you may overwrite the music files more than likely they are gone permanently

*New* July 2020 Unlock bootloader of Huawei devices (Kirin 960/659/655)

Apologies if this is reported elsewhere (I couldn't find it) but here is a new unlock method by 'mashed-potatoes' on github and it's flippin' awesome!
See: "github.com/mashed-potatoes/PotatoNV[/" (had to format like this due to XDA newbie rules)
I've just unlocked a P10 bootloader with it - the phone was running Oreo with a March 2019 security patch :good:
It is a test point method - so back cover needs to be removed (TP location easily found on YouTube)
When I realised I was stuck on a patch >June18 I thought bootloader unlocking wouldn't be possible (although I was trawling XDA archives to see if flashing board software for unlocked fastboot might provide a route). Anyway, didn't need any of that cuz I ran PotatoNV.exe and put the phone in TP mode and ker-boom: BL unlocked! Amazing work.
EDIT:
A few extra tips to help get through the process:
- You will need to install Test-point drivers - can be found by running the Potato program and following the web address to the User Manual - link to drivers is there. (Uninstall drivers when finished or else phone won't be recognized properly by PC later!)
- Open up Device Manager to check that you are booting to TP - devices changes from 'USB SER' to 'USB (COM')' - or something like that, I don't exactly remember!. It might take a few goes to boot into TP - disconnect then reconnect battery each attempt.
Thanks for sharing this program. this works for me, after bricking my phone 2 years ago. I finally got to unlock my bootloader. And its working now and doing great.

Err, no. Finding bootloader exploit on newer Kirin's would be like finding Holy Grail.
You could always join 'Big Huawei Exploits' group on Telegram and ask them how it's going rolleyes

Many thanks, it worked flawlessly on my P10 running EMUI 9.1! Test points and disassembly instructions can easily be found on the interwebs. Do not forget to write down the bootloader unlock code PatatoNV generates: I needed it after I bootlooped and downloaded the latest rom with erecovery.

I downloaded the latest rom twice through erecovery. The first time it locked my bootloader, but the second time it did not. The first time I could easily unlock again with the code generated by the patatoNV tool.

Ah yes I bricked my phone 2 times already and experienced what erecovery is for. It's my first time to mess with my good ol p10 have you tried any working open kirin custom on it? cuz everytime I flash a 9.0/9.1 compatible rom it ends on bootloop I used adb and fastboot btw. This is my last question sorry a noobie here.
(take note I followed every instructions on their support page on how to flash)

The AEX roms worked for me, the omniroms unfortunately did not boot (emui 9.1). They are supposed to work on emui 9.0. Did you do the factory reset from emui recovery? AEX is very basic android and quite nice, although not as fluent as emui.

Welcome to the Family Xperia 5 Mark II Users <3
Thanks. Looks like it is the same procedure like 1-ii 10-ii.
I know this is obvious, but in case someone forgets, remember to unlock bootloader, you need to unlock "developer options" by tapping the "build number" 10 times in settings>about phone, turn on "OEM unlocking" in system>developer options.

It clearly disables still the Display Enhancement known as Video Optimization, besides that may it mean You can't play 4K HDR anymore over Netflix, limiting it to FHD/HD Playback. Additional will You not being able to use the Xperia Services anymore which shouldn't hurt anyone. With My MARS_SOM can You get even better Display Optimizations combined with 4K HDR Playback on all possible apps. Still searching a Tester on the Xperia 5 II for it actually...
Updated the Guide
Respect for all your effort, thank you very much!
Any way to revert back after this? How to relock bootloader?
Xperia Companion won't repair since the bootloader is unlocked and Xperia Flash Tool (Emma) gives me an error (screenshot) and FlashTool doesn't support Xperia 5 II yet.

"fastboot oem lock" locks the Bootloader again. Just use the Companion to repair after that. Never use Flashtool on newer Devices (2019+), just use NewFlasher and Fastboot. That's the failsafe way...
@Kocane it isn't a DRM Bypass, so No. But it enables 4K Playback and various Pixel 4 XL and Qualcomm configs that enhance the Display on other Ways like Automated Whitebalance, variable vsync and more. The actual GitHub Versions are pretty neat actually in that view...

You should reflash the Stock Firmware with newflasher before trying again. Take a look If it boots untouched and Install the Magisk Manager again (to make sure the Firmware is ok)
Have You also did the vbmeta step? You could try to skip that step if You tried it with...
You could also try to Patch the Boot Image with Magisk 21.X. Just Go in the Magisk Manager to the Settings and select the Beta Channel. Go Back to the Main Page for patching and Patch your Image with the 21.X Beta version.
Hope that helps!

So you don't need to backup the DRM Key like the old models Z3 / Z5 to gain back the functions?
I can't figure out how to unlock this device? '
I've followed the instructions here: https://developer.sony.com/develop/...d/unlock-bootloader/how-to-unlock-bootloader/
But running: "fastboot oem unlock 0x[unlock code]" results in:
FAILED (Write to device failed (no link))
fastboot: error: Command failed
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
5 ii dont have 4k res anyway. I think I will keep it unlocked like 10 ii. It will get downsampled anyway.

No link can be either not in fastboot (insert usb while holding vol up, have blue led) or no driver or not in Windows 10 test mode.
Also, have you enable "OEM unlocking" in options?

The code for 5 ii is the same for 1 ii or 10 ii.
As far as I remember, unlocking bootloader does not wipe the DRM key nowadays, right? Locking back the bootloader everything will become brand-new?
