Ulefone Power 3 - ROOT - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
i am trying to find information on how to root my ulefone power 3.
sadly google and the forum here dont show me anything that works.
looking forward to some feedback.
thanks

Hello from me
I am looking to root ulefone power 3 as well.
And I am looking for something else as well
- how to swap the onscreen buttons
- how to unlock with double tap
- how to take pictures with the slr bokeh feature using both cameras. The stock camera app doesn't offer any option
- which is the best camera apk to do that
THANK YOU

I want to give root a chance to help you. Only 2 of the cameras work like this.

What I have managed until now is to unlock the bootloader.
@Onur895, not sure what you mean sorry

I will try to compile TWRP for the Ulefone Power 3 tomorrow, if I manage to do it, I will update you.

I unlock the bootloader, but I can not root.

Stock ROM
Hi everyone!
I've got the Stock ROM from Ulefone's support (this is the link they gave me, I didn't reupload it): https://mega.nz/#F!9zAQQSLI!3iK_x-grclSOGZMMiW8DVw
Make sure to compare the checksums after downloading, the first time I downloaded the file, system.img was corrupted... luckily, I noticed.
About TWRP: I've tried my best, I've failed. Sorry!

Hi Lucavon,
Thanks for uploading the stock ROM - is this literally Android stock without Ulefone's added stuff?
And DANKE für trying the TWRP --> this is what would enable us to root afterwards right?

Lucovon bu verdiğiniz link twrp mi? Toptan nasıl atarım yardımcı olur musunuz?

Aye!
I got this stock ROM directly from Ulefone's support team after emailing them; this is the link they gave me, I didn't upload anything. So, this is the ROM the phone comes with by default - however, the recovery is set to Chinese because they sent me the Chinese version of the ROM, so keep that in mind when using it.
I sadly failed to compile TWRP, and yep, if I got TWRP to work I would probably be able to use it to install Magisk to root the phone.
TWRP itself is just a custom recovery but it allows for flashing things, such as SuperSU or Magisk.

Sorry, I don't speak Turkish, but according to Google Translate, you asked whether the link I sent is TWRP... The answer is no, the link I provided is a download link for the Stock ROM I got from Ulefone's support team.

[Q] Any ROMs for U8500 ?

hello my firends! Im a new android user, bought first android phone just week ago. I have Huawei U8500 and i think it's very new model and there are very few people who have it. There's no official 2.2 or 2.3 version so im looking for ROM. I think there is no ROMs for this model yet ? But can i use ROMs which was created for other phones ? im really really hoping that someone will make 2.2 or 2.3 for this model. Thanks for answers.
i was searching for few days... i understand russian a little bit so i found 2.2 version made by russian guy, i didn't tried it yet becouse i don't how to instal that so i dont know if it's with russian language or not, but fact is that there is 2.2 version for U8500 ! Few russians tried that and it's working fine for them !
it's link for the 2.2 narod.ru/disk/4575221001/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%88%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BA%D0%B02.2_2901.rar.html
Im also trying when i have spare time to locate a u8500 rom . im a extremly novice user tho so prolly wont find much .
Tried to get that russian rom but seems the link is dead or just blocked .
Is anyone working on a eng realease for this phone ?
Or news if there will be a official rel i have missed ?

To install it:
1. Unrar it to your computer, and find a folder named "dload" with the biggest size.
2. Copy that "dload" folder to root of your SD card
3. turn off phone
4. Hold volume up key + end call (red) key and the press power key. Wait for it to load, it will say something like "Updating system" Wait for it to finish, if it says fail, just try again
5. After it says "Update complete" or "Update successful" just restart your phone and you'll have the new beta firmware.
6. Reboot can take about 5 minutes. Be patient.
Do it always while charging.
Highly recommend to back up the original firmware before installing new ROM's
On your own risk. You can brick your phone and you void your phones warranty.

Hi, to load phone in recovery mode and to fulfill wipe date and a cache. I apologize for the bad English
How did you guys download this?
The only way i can see the link to proceed to download is via google translate. And when i click it i get a 404.
/Peter
You cant use google translate when clicking! Under the android guy pic, click where it says сюда, you then come to another site, just now click on a link on the page, that will take you to another page (the sponsor page), then you will se that it will start ticking the time in the top of the window, then after that you can click again and actually start the download....

Just wanted to say that this rom works awesome on my u8300.
It requires some tweaking. Change of lcd density etc. And the screen calibration isn't perfekt. But it's much faster than the stock rom so i'll stick with it.
Definetly worth a shot.
But according to a user on another forum there might be problems when you downgrade from a 8500 rom to the stock 8300. I haven't tested, so i can't really comment on that...

Root (check) Recovery & ROM (no check)
Greets to all,
I just got this device myself & rooted it yesterday with the Framaroot.apk & Gandalf exploit. It's a very nice phone & takes great photos! (Btw, I sold my Xperia Z Ultra & used the money to buy this phone; the Z Ultra was simply too big, had no flash & screen mirroring was completely unstable). Unfortunately, almost everything out there about this phone is in Chinese; even the recoveries are in Chinese. I found a few pages about a Kitkat 4.4 ROM for this device, but the download is in 3 parts and online surveys must be completed to activate the downloads One of the pages can be found if you search for "Upgrade/Update ZTE Nubia Z5 to 4.4 KitKat" but I think it's likely bogus.
If anyone can find an English recovery or decent ROM for this device, please post & thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems there are ROMS and CWM recovery on the MIUI website (search "ZTE" and separately "recovery" on the English [en] site). I'm downloading a version 5 ROM but may not have time to check it out today.
Thanks bro

You use which? ZTE Z5 MINI? or how do you know what model to download the rom???
waiting on a recovery
Hi cesarguaro,
Unfortunately, the recoveries mentioned on the site are not for Qualcom based devices like our NX501s; therefore, I haven't tried the ROM I found for the Nubia Z5 yet. It's too bad the stock recovery can't be used for backing up the ROM even though it can likely be used to install the ROM (which is too risky without a backup IMO). Have you installed a non-Chinese, usable recovery yet?
As for Miui, if you go to en dot miui dot com, you'll see the downloads link right at the top. Under "Brands" click on the ZTE logo and you're on your way

[Q] Ulefone U7 - enable softkeys or custom rom

Received my Ulefone U7 yesterday and so far impressed.
Intention is to use in my car to replace the OEM satnav.
To do this, I need to enable the softkeys/navigation bar as the physical buttons will be behind the dash.
I've rooted OK and have so far tried what I thought would work..
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in build.prop
Xposed and as many modules as I can find!
Play store apps like softkeys enabler
So far, no soft keys
To enable softkeys on my Samsung Note 10.1 2014 I had to install a custom ROM
Any advice welcome.
Do I need a custom ROM?
Thee Ulefone U7 is the same as other MTK6592 phones I believe, can I use one of those ROMs?

Hey bro i want to ask you if you have problems with the camera ? it keep flickering purple ?! for me
I have a Tronsmart PS7 incoming which is the same device as far as I can tell with different branding, I'll see what I can work out for you, I'll be working on a clockwork build for it eventually.
Have you considered rooting it and installing https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.udn
there is another program https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey
Button Savior I do not particularly like, because personally I think its ugly, but it is functional as far as I can tell when I have used it on a device with broken buttons, it is not strictly speaking a navbar, but it has home and back etc on it, so it may work without needing the rom to be navbar aware.
There is also a mod for xposed that allows you to complete navbar functions using swipes for example swipe left to right = home, swipe right to left = back, see more here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gesture-navigation-multitouch-t2690180
There is a factory image here http://www.needrom.com/mobile/ulefone-u69u7/ it may be possible to edit that image to include the navbar
DO NOT FLASH IMAGES FOR OTHER PHONES
Yes the SoC is the same, but the button config, screen, camera, usb/otg functions hdmi output are likely to be different and so the driver sets will most likely not match and leave you with either a device with broken features or a device that will not even boot, so be VERY careful with that.

s view
Hello,
I bought the 'created N7' that is like the ulefone u7/tronsmart ps7/luftco a onex/orientphone mega pro 7 etc..., and is sold by the factory with 4.4.2 installed
I found a bug in this product
The bug is about the bad working of the s-view window.
I link here a video where is possible to see how it should work:
http://youtu.be/lk1P9jziw64
The problem is that with the created N7 it is not possible to answer
to the calls without opening the flip cover:
when the N7 receive a call, the s-view window is not sensitive, so it
is not possible to answer
The sview with cover closed is sensitive only for a few seconds after the cover has ben closed, specifically only before the sview goes in standby (black screen)...after the standby, wakening the phone by a call or simply pressing the power button (without opening the cover) the sview seems not sensitive
These are two videos that shows the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG6DMPL5ImE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-By6dqV3xrk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This should be fixed, because is an important feature that is missing:
the phones like N7 of other brands (like ulefone u7/u69, luftco a-one
x, tronsmart ps7, orientphone mega pro 7) instead have a fully
functional s-view window
I already informed some created online sellers (kent wang, peter
yang... ) about this bug,
they told me that they will contact the engineer... but i have
not answer yet...i think they are not able to solve this problemi...
A seller told me that they send the leather case for free,
Its a gift , so i cannot ask them to fix this problem
Can someone help me to fix this problem?
I tried installing firmware of other device (luftco a onex 4.4.2)
But nothing has changed ...(and by the way i found that the luftco firmware
does not fit with my n7...the camera does not work with it)
Any hint?
Any suggestion?
I did some tests i found that actually the sview is sensitive also after the standby, but not enought to feel the touches through the screen...
in the settings there is an option 'increase touch sensitivity to allow the control through sview screen',
seems that this high sensitivity status is not reactivated if the cover is not opened after the phone goes to standby...
How can i fix this problem? perhaps some fix on touch drivers is needed?
Please help me!
Thank you!

Lenovo P90 Root etc.

Hello,
I have a Lenovo P90, a Android phone with a Intel Atom Z5360, what is same as Asus ZenFone 2 (2GB Edition). A latest version is Android 4.4.4 with ugly Vibe UI, what i dont like it (and some other minuses). I tryied to find a some unofficial ROMs, but for this phone is not a community. So i want to make (minimaly) a clean build of Android 4.4.4. Thanks a Lenovo, is possible to download a source codes, what is big plus. So i setuped a 64-bit ubuntu with build essensials etc. etc.. But i forgoten to look how to get into a recovery. For a sample, to P70 its going by Power Button and Volume Up, but i investigated, it is a Power Button and Volume Down for boot into a droidboot. It is different version of P70, its a Droidboot 2.0, and here is enabled a Fastboot. And i think i found a Flashmode, when Power Button and Volume Up, and connected the USB, it is shows a MOOREFIELD driver, what is known from Asus ZenFone.
So, i think the best thing to do for first is a root a device and make a CWM. I think it would be possible by Fastboot, but actually i dont have any ideas where to begin.
How to start?
(im not a noob what dont know how a devices works, im a developer, but this is first time to doing a modifications into a devices)
Thanks

Here, this will get you started with the basics of building android ROMs. There are a lot of links at the bottom of the page that will take you to different parts of the building process, read them all.
http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer
If you look at the top of the page you'll see a menu tab, select it and you will find other areas that discuss the android operating system.
@GAMELASTER, have you managed to root the device and get a clean 4.4.4 rom working? I am interested if there are any good roms available for my Lenoco P90. I see some pages regarding a 6.0 rom for Lenovo but looking at the download links I really do not trust this.

P.S. When I hat this phone, I wanted to make an video tutorials, but only thing what I did is "prepare drivers" video tutorial:

Thanks a lot
Thanks a lot. The video shows as private. However I was able to root the phone using the instructions on http://bit.ly/21moAc3 and also to flash the new ROM according to http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/14696-..._row_mld_lite/ I ended up with a "No Service" message, but *#*#4636#*#* and the further instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873954&nocache=1 helped to solve this. The ROM is great and root is included of course. I found another page with more ROM's, also the original ones, just in case: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=694032&st=380 All are in Russian but Google Translate does a great job
Thanks.all work good :good:
may i ask for a help here? i have trouble with missing the content of partition (folder) "config". is there any care to help?

[Takee 1 by EStar] 1st Custom rom based on stock rom attempt

Hi guys! I've just cooked my first custom ROM for my Estar Takee 1 (octacore chinese smartphone with mediatek mt6592 CPU 2ghz)
I used dsixda kitchen on Linux and a stock JellyBean ROM as base.
I tryed to flash the .zip file from my custom recovery (TWRP) but I have this error
Code:
error executing updater binary in zip
What could be the problem ?
Another developer used the same stock ROM as base to make his own custom ROM (I'm using that one and it works!)
Maybe I have to use another kitchen?
You have more experience than me so I wait your replies. Thanks in advance
Somewhere on Xda i read that people solved this problem replacing the "updater binary" file inside the custom rom from another one taken from the stock rom...
I tryed to replace my updater binary with the one contained in a custom rom that works on my device but I can't still flash the zip!!
The new updater binary also shows this warning:
Code:
format() expects 5 args, got 2
Have you figured out the solution for this problem already? I am very interested in your work!

@[email protected] can you help @Mich-C solve this TWRP bug in a new custom ROM for Takee 1, please?

Could you post your updater-binary and updater-script file here
Hi @YuriRM many thanks for interesting in the project. Thanks also to you @[email protected]
Here are the updater-binary and updater script from my custom romhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=1_xCsP_GqGUj202jdx4xOgXwPSwDprEam.
I used a Takee1 stock rom as base to develop this rom but I used a stock rom downloaded from internet because I lost the backup of my original stock rom.
We can also try to make a new rom from YOUR stock rom if you can provide it to me
Long time ago I read somewhere that the Takee1 was sold in 2 versions with a small difference, I have to check better this thing

Your Script looks fine, may be problem lies in your updater-binary file try using this attached update binary file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UZImzerlBglJWFDrPdvok-X7YBsl5sUQ/view?usp=drivesdk
Edit: Also with what kind of editor you used to edit updater script. If you used default notepad app then its obvious you have lost your encoding. Its important that you should use notepad ++
@Mich-C
Francesinha is porting Android 7.1.2 from Validus OS to TAKEE 1. He does not have this device. He ported Mokee 7.1.2 to BQ Aquaris E5 FHD (MT6592).
I have prepared detailed instructions for Francesinha on this post. It is a Portuguese and English mix. This text is the best instruction set for TAKEE 1 ROMs yet. Would you like to read a fully English version? It can be produced by me if you request it.
Are you willing to test this Android 7.1.2 ROM by Francesinha once it is ready for download?

Wow! In the next days I'll replace the updater-script in my rom and I'll report back the result.
It seems to me that I didn't edit at all those 2 files, they were just generated by the dsixda kitchen, anyway I usually use the leafpad editor installed on my linux distro

Never found this post on xda!
I installed that Kitkat Rom 4.4.2 linked in the post(developed by a russian dev called luckasfb) it worked perfectly except for the main camera (completely unusable for a driver problem)
Then I went back to another Stock rom found on NeedRom but the O.S. is unstable and the microphone doesn't work if the screen it's locked.
I need to test those other 2 stock roms!
Anyway, did you tryed that 6.0.1 rom linked in the post?

The official tester for TAKEE 1 ROMs is @io2345. He has produced excellent test reports and short guides on LuckasFB and VladJocker ROMs. Follow his instructions to achieve fully working cameras on Android 4.4 and 6.0.1 ROMs. @io2345 is the best tester of all TAKEE 1 owners! Io2345 and I have a very productive partnership.
We should be having this conversation in the TAKEE 1 thread on order to benefit all owners.

AVAST antivirus has disabled KingRoot and removed several components in my Takee 1 device. Therefore, I lost root access and the ability to install new ROMs in this device. But I am quite happy with the 3D performance of the 10th September 2015 stock ROM. Unfortunately, it has Gyroscope and GPS bugs.
Another TAKEE 1 unit that I owned and now belongs to my cousin has the patched stock ROM of November 2015 with boot image of October 2015. It is working nice!
I will do the translation in order to be read by everybody.
P.S. - Francesinha is a 16 year old boy. He understands English with Google Translator, I guess. He will be pleased to read your post in his thread. You are welcomed in AndroidPT too!

Woah! Avast done this when you plugged in the phone to the PC?!
Did you try to flash a stock from the PC using SP flash tool? It worked for me even when the phone was bricked. Flashing a zip from the sd-card always has a lower succes rate.
Let's hope well for Francesinha work! If he sign in on Xda we can help him better
How to install a bug free Android 4.4 custom ROM by LuckasFB (Written by @io2345)
How to install a bug free Android 4.4 custom ROM by LuckasFB.
Written by @io2345
After getting some experience with the latest KitKat-ROM (4.4.2) developed by LuckasFB, I can tell you all that it's useable. VoIP calls work as well as GPS, Gyro, 3D. Not sure if LuckasFB is still working on better/newer firmware, so currently it is probably the best choice. All of the hints and links are posted "somewhere" in this thread with more than 100 pages and over 1000 entries, so let me sum it up (YuriRM already did that several times before):
First, install TRWP recovery: Flash the file inside this archive (you have to extract it)
https://mega.nz/#!hgYCwIYb!BYlmRnTVzWribPKlQDkmCR5ggT5GCkflIFbjeawg5Jk
as recovery-file using SPFlash-Tool.
Place this two files (without extracting them) in the phones memory or the root of your phones SD-Card (if you use one):
KK custom ROM
https://mega.nz/#!B5Q3gAga!OLh4sLFZ8dxkzkwazV1hI9xfIc2rP2a_C4QL_LQlOGA
micro.zip
https://mega.nz/#!o5RE3KYb!Wel6c3q8GKEovptvRdAZFj1ZlCERiCWYsjjj8K1_bg0
Connect phone to a charger, switch it off, and when restarting it, hold "Vol up" pressed, until TRWP-Menu shows. Use "Wipe"-Function, after that "Install" and select the two ZIP-Files, install them and reboot.
Install from play store any power manager app that can do a "hot reboot" (example: "Power Manager" by Guiseppe Montuoro).
After boot wait some time (like 10 minutes), then try to open camera. When the selfie camera is started, make a hot reboot using the power manager app. Start camera again, both cameras will work now (note: as long as "unable to open camera" or "gallery error" shows up or camera just doesn't start, hot reboot is useless).
Getting 3D-Effect (only necessary if you use SD-Card): Copy the two files "HolographyProfile" and "matrix" from the phones folder "Android" into the folder "Android" on the sd-card. The (already preinstalled) App "3D Video" contains four 3D Movies. Hint: If 3D-Effect is ghosty (doubled elements in the picture) try to tilt the phone just a few degrees to the right instead of looking in the very middle of the screen.
Rather than switching off the phone at night, only put it in airplane mode. Saves energy for the battery and you from doing a camera restart the next day...
App that makes use of the gyro effect and has appropriate videos: Install DiscoveryVR from play store. Open a video (like: Shark Storm), move the phone up/down/left/right to change the viewing angle.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73634579&postcount=1127
Besides from saying, that leaving the screen on when charging is no option for me, I am quite pleased with the current firmware (don't have any clicks either). I told you, that I do not switch off the phone but put it into airplane at night, where battery drops by 1% or even stays at the same value until the morning. Once I had an issue with the card in SIM1 not willing to work when leaving airplane mode, but that occured only once in ten days now and can be solved by a normal reboot. Battery of the phone isn't too strong, but takes me through the day with normal usage of a man (really doubt, if a woman can do one day without recharging). Usually I end up at night with about 30% left. Screen is the greatest consumer, so if you watch a movie on the phone, you will have a drop of 10% of the battery every 15-20 minutes. WiFi and mobile radio also consume some greater part of the energy, so you might do a good while longer if you watch movies in airplane mode. WiFi reception and GPS are just so-so, maybe due to the metal frame of the Takee. For me it is good enough, and I just love the smooth finish of the phone.

Hi @YuriRM new updates on my custom stock rom for the takee1:
I just replaced in my .zip rom the update-binary file kindly provided by @[email protected]
But I couldn't test this "fixed" rom : I tryed to boot my phone into recovery mode as usual (power button + volume down) but strangely it didn't work so I had to dowload an app that allowed me to reboot into recovery mode.
Well, I just got a message that says there isn't a recovery on my phone ( the phone can boot the OS without issues)
I don't know how it could be possible, I flashed and fixed phones with bricked roms many times but I have never got a problem like this...
What can you can tell me about?

Hi Mich-C! I am on vacations now. Maybe @[email protected] can help you.
My phone has gone bezerk after using the charger from another phone. It often freezes and the screen goes Black. I may try to reinstall Android.
If something is damaged then I will buy another 3D phone... the SuperD D1 from eFox or CooliCool.

Yes, try to reinstall the stock rom and buy a new battery I think you' ll solve the problem.
About my device instead: We have many roms for the takee1 and I made my own rom too but If I can't access recovery how can I flash them?!
Ok I' ll wait your return from vacation
You can use SPFlash and only flash the recovery.img, can't you? Use the LuckasFB Recovery-Image containing TWRP28.
BTW: You know that for Takee you can only access Recovery if the phone is connected to a charger - do you?
