I have found a version of v4a that works perfectly on the XZ1 and installation in simple.
NOTE! YOU MUST HAVE ROOT ENABLED TO INSTALL THIS!!!
1: Download viper4android from this location http://www.mediafire.com/file/pk567lnqxyujtba/ViPER4Android oreo romprovider.com.zip
2: Using a file manager, navigate to /vendor/etc and rename the audio_effects.conf file by adding .bak to the end after .conf
3: Power off your phone and boot into TWRP
4: Flash the downloaded v4a zip
5: Enjoy
Now we have a custom kernel thanks to @janjan with a root solution including a DRM fix thanks to @sToRm// and as @pergoteborg pointed out we also have Xposed and now we can enjoy custom tuned audio perfection thanks to yours truly.

Can someone please guide me on how to install A.R.I.S.E.?

I read the OP of A.R.I.S.E. several times, and honestly, I didn't understand it properly. And plus, I have also seen a lot of Onyx users reporting that the installation freezes in recovery. Can someone please guide me through the entire process? Thanks in advance!

I hope you are aware of flashing custom recovery and rooting your phone. Once you did that it is easy to install it.
1. Download arise from official thread. (am using magnum opus version) Make sure you download non auroma version.
2. For starters inside zip there will be a folder called our modules. Copy any of the arise_customize.prop file from that and paste it in in internal storage root directory.
3. flash the ARISE zip from recovery and you are good to go.
4. Read arise_customize.prop file for further info of adding and removing modules.

In nougat, you just have to install viperFX v6.1 and that's it, it works without needing to install a driver or modify anything.
You just have to consider having Selinux in permissive mode. regards
It also works together with dolby

How to Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo 8.0

Instructions to Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo
The instructions have been split into two parts for your convenience. The first part involves setting up the device before you proceed to the actual instructions to install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo 8.0. The second part covers installing ViPER4Android itself and the drivers.
Step 1: Pre-setup
Download and install Busybox on your rooted Android. V4A team recommend using Stephen (Stericson) Busybox, so download it by clicking on the app box below.
BusyBox
Stephen (Stericson) Tools FreeDownload
Once it has been installed on your device, launch the app from the app drawer.
As soon as the app starts, it will prompt you for root permissions, so grant them.
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo - Busybox Installation

Make sure that you are in the “Install Busybox” tab. Do not modify any options, leave them as they are.
Tap on the “Install” button on the very bottom of the app screen. The Busybox installation will start and complete in no time. You shall see the confirmation message instantly.
Next, download a root-enabled file manager of your choice. We prefer Solid Explorer for its simplicity and efficiency.
Solid Explorer File Manager
NeatBytes Productivity FreeDownload
Once installed, launch Solid Explorer.
Swipe out from the left edge of the app screen and tap on “Root” under the “Storages” menu.

The app will prompt for root permissions, grant them.
Navigate to /Vendor/etc. Find the file named “audio_effects.conf”.
Long-press on the file, then tap on the 3-dot overflow menu on the top-right and select “Rename”.
Change the filename to “audio_effects.conf.bak“. You could have simply deleted the file, but we advise you to rename it so that if you want to restore in future, it will spare you some trouble.
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo - Rename "audio_effects.conf" file in /vendor/etc
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo – Rename “audio_effects.conf” file in /vendor/etc
Just tap on “OK” and exit the Solid Explorer.
Finally, the last thing to do is set SELinux status as Permissive. We can do that easily using “The SELinux Switch” app. So, download the app and install it on your device – The.SELinux.Switch.ver.6.0.3.build.603.apk. Then launch the app, grant it root permissions, and press the “Permissive” button. If you find it troublesome, you can simply follow our tutorial.
Just reboot your device. It is very important to reboot after you have performed the above.
Step 2: Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo
Now that you have properly setup your Android device to install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo, follow the steps below.
Download ViPER4Android for Android Oreo: ViPER4Android_FX_v2505.zip

ViPER4Android_FX_v2505_A4.x-A7.x.apk

We are only going to need the latter (ViPER4Android_FX_v2505_A7.x_Nougat_IO_test_fix.apk).
Connect your device to the PC and transfer the file to it.
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo - Install ViPER4Android app
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo – Install ViPER4Android app
Now open Solid Explorer (Or any other file explorer). Navigate to the location where you placed the *.apk file and install it.
Once installed, go to the app drawer and tap on “ViPER4Android”.
As soon as the app is launched, it will prompt you for driver installation.
Just tap on “YES”. You shall instantly be asked for root permissions, so grant them.

The driver installation will begin and your phone’s screen will freeze. Don’t worry, it’s going as planned. Do not exit the app or press any buttons.
After 30-60 seconds the process will complete. Simply tap on “OK” and reboot your device.
Once your phone has rebooted, open the V4A app again and swipe out from the left to open the menu.
Install ViPER4Android on Android Oreo - Driver Status

[MOD] ARCore using latest APK and other apps

Enable ARcore and other funky AR apps on stock rom
This little zip enables ARcore for the Asus Max Pro M1 stock rom
Tried and tested successfully on the ZB601KL variant (4/64)
Not tested on custom rom - will probably not work.
What works:
1. Latest ARCore
2. Measure App
3. IKEA app
4. Line draw app
5. AR Stickers modded (see below)
This is based on these two:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76920297&postcount=5176
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76580197&postcount=1
Hence thanks to these two gentlemen and full credits to them:
@Arnova8G2
@Stampyron
Steps (reproducing from @Stampyron thread with some modifications) :
Step 1. Download and install ARCore apk from here https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/arcore/arcore-1-3-18060406-release/
Step 2. Install an app that use ARCore. If you're lazy, you can use this apk https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...-anywhere-with-ar-2-0-0-android-apk-download/
Step 3. Open the app you installed in step 2 and let it crash. This will make the folders and files that we're going to use later on.
Step 4. Download the file named arcore_x00t.zip
Step 5. Reboot to twrp and and flash the zip file
Step 6. Reboot to system. Now you can use any apps that require ARCore!
NOTE: If you updated ARCore repeat step 3 onwards
ARStickers Updated to ver 1.2.180326103.apk - 4 July 2018
ARStickers doesnt work with the apk from apkmirror.com. Use this modded one instead
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DqnA2lFV5QYq7vQDah2IMLlAO285nKzK
(thanks to @Arnova8G2)
Explanation
@Arnova8G2 twrp zip is based on placing a file in the /data partition and renaming it as per the ro.build.product value.
However for stock ROM, the true value that works for this device is what is returned by ro.product.device instead in the system (different from the one in twrp), hence the modification is needed
The value in the fully booted stock rom is "ASUS_X00T_2"
And the second modification needed is to make the file name include "8.1" for latest oreo for this device.
Hence the file name now that works for this device in stock ROM is: "device_profile_ASUS_X00T_2_colon_8.1.textproto"
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

When we go to the AR CORE app link , it provides with 2 versions of the app.
Though I have tried both and none of it worked for me .
I am on the latest build i.e. 311 .
Can I reset the partitions that are already made ?
I don't want to factory reset.
Please help me .
I am a noob
Can I use internal memory of mobile to flash the zip as I don't have a memory card.

Yes
Install apks linked here. Then, Just download the zip to your phone. It will come to your internal memory of the phone - in downloads folder. Check using a file explorer such as "es file explorer" or "solid explorer"
Boot into twrp, and flash this file.
Then reboot the system. Done.
Ps- the two apk for arcore are for different platforms. Our phone is arm64, so download that.

Dude
your data partition is encrypted, you can't flash the zip.
You gotta do it manually after booting into the Rom:
1. Look in the zip for this file
/arcore_x00t.zip/data/data/com.google.ar.core/files/device_profile_database/device_profile_1_colon_8.textproto
2. Copy it to this location with this name. Use a file explorer with root permission:
/data/data/com.google.ar.core/files/device_profile_database/device_profile_ASUS_X00T_2_colon_8.1.textproto
3. Go to a terminal and do these commands
su
restorecon /data/data/com.google.ar.core/files/device_profile_database/device_profile_ASUS_X00T_2_colon_8.1.textproto
4. Reboot.

Can i do this without pc?
I was on step 2 of your above mentioned procedure but there was no file as :device_profile_ASUS_X00T_2_colon_8.1.textproto
Instead there was : device_profile_ASUS_A002_1_colon_7.textproto
