Is everyone else here on 7.0 and August security patch - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

Or is 7.1 out there and i never got it, also its pathetic that August security patch is the latest update. This is a flagship device and no updates, yet the A or E series has been updated.

Grab ARA2 with Jan patch from updato, also finally fixes the battery drain. Every one needs to run the BTU firmware on this tab as that sees updates 2 months ahead of other CSCs/countries.

I just checked mine and yes mine is on the Aug security patch. Check for update says I am up to date.

And apparently a patch came out. Was updated today to Jan 1, 2018 patch and still v7.0

And they just released February security Patch Oreo Note8 build...

Nope s till on august patch
Why does samsung not update their flagship, I already contacted samsung support and they told me they would get to the developers and release it soon. Why dont they release it!?

THanks!
Flashed BTU yesterday and did a factory reset as well. Hope the batterydrain is better now. Usually mine looses almost 2% per hour in standby.

Good question. I just unplugged mine at 100% and will take measurements at lunch and end of work day and try as hard as I can to not use it in between. Today should be a good day for this test.

8 hours later 89% left on battery.

Make sure your router DTIM is not 1 as it will trigger no sleep on some device's.

8am local time unplugged. Will leave it unplugged until 8am tomorrow as I'm pretty sure I won't need to use the tablet today.

I am connected to a Netgear Nighthawk 8300 and could not find a single reference to DTIM for my device. I'm certainly willing to change it if I can find where to do that.

Whoops forgot to check. 10am local time the next day down to 49% solely on standby after 26 hours. That is still close to 2% per hour. I am plugged back in as I may need to head off to a client site later this week.

Various problems since October 1 security update
This may be coincidental but since getting the October 1 update, I have been having various lockups, reboots and higher battery consumption. Until the October update, I didn't have any of these problems. Never had a random reboot. Battery easily lasted 18+ hours and the few times I did have higher-than-normal battery usage from an app (usually G+ when on 4G posting lots of pictures), I would get a prompt telling me about it and then I could kill it.
Only recently added "new apps" were for Black Friday but they have since been removed. Since my phone is on AT&T I did notice some new crapware from AT&T but have disabled them.
Anyone else notice this?
Woke up to the December security patch this morning. USA Tmobile. First time I didn't have to manually check got an update.

Same here. I've been using stock BTU for like 2 months now. But battery life recently has been terrible. I can barely get 3hr SOT. Hopefully Oreo update that we maybe will get this year is going to fix that. Or even a Nougat update would be nice. As long as it fixes battery life..
Latest Oreo for N8 Exynos is currently CRB7 btw.

If you're struggling to get 3 hours SOT it's most likely a rogue app rather than firmware-related.

I haven't installed any apps on it. I just use it to browse web and for alarm. It also gets pretty hot.
Edit: but it only happens on BRA8. Before it was okay. I should probably flash odin version of BRA8 and that would probably help.
I just noticed that after the update that the animation scale in dev ops had changed to 1x from the 0.5 I had it set at, haven't noticed anything else as that note 8 isn't my daily driver but will be interesting to see if it happens to this one as well
Got it after manually updating, wonder how much more the 8.0 update will be delayed!

Nokia 6.1 plus monthly updates

This thread has been created in Jan 2019 for monitoring monthly updates (i.e. security updates and many more) on Nokia 6.1 plus global Android one version...
Anyone is welcome to post here about his device's updates....
This is the January 2019 update
The Jan 2019 Update has nothing but the Security Patch.
It weighs in at around 65 MB.
New update of February security patch arrived
I've just updated. Seems stable so far
Not sure is it my delusion or not?

With this update Google news is included in system pre-installed apps
The new march build has fixed the truncated text on the notification panel when you have selected the small text option.
Will update posts with more findings.
Update - Phone is way more snappier now and the battery drain has been comparitively lower than the feb patch.
Update 2 - Some People say the bootloader unlock(Enable OEM unlocking)option is now available for them. I still have it greyed out
Update 3 - Wow. Yesterday night after playing PUBG for sometime, I had 24% battery left. I left the phone as it was and came today morning to see only 1% battery drain?
This latest update has definitely improved the battery and made the more snappy and responsive. Also, The phone does not heat as much when charging.

Its actually much better for me now. Yesterday i had to travel for 4 hours and i left the phone a 28% when the trip started and when i reached, i had 27%.
Try clearing your cache data.
Is there any improvement in the inbuilt camera app after march update bcoz i couldn't see any, still it is the same crappy app, and please suggest a google camera app link which works the best.
Still no update in Spain (TA-1103). It's weird because all previous SP and MR have arrived via OTA when they were deployed.
Is there any other way to force update? I tried with VPN trick but it was unsuccessfully :crying:

This is my battery percentage and corresponding screen-on time under normal usage which includes basic tasks like using WhatsApp, browsing chrome and listening to Spotify.
Before the March update, my battery percentage used to be around 75%-78% after this musch of screen-on time, after the update I'm seeing a significant difference.
I can't be the only one and what exactly i can do to solve this?
Nothing in italy i try with change vpn... Nothing

Question Did anyone get the January Play system update yet

While we are still waiting for our Android update, I was wondering if anyone got their Play system update yet. It seems like we are the last to get any updates.
Among other things, it is supposed to include:
Updates to system management services that improve device connectivity, network usage, stability, security and updatability. [1]
What's new in Google System Updates - Product Documentation Help
Google System updates make your Android devices more secure and reliable and give you new and useful features. They include updates from Google to the Android operating system, Google Play Store, and
support.google.com
No, got December play update yesterday.
Same here, just got December 1 update yesterday.
Same for me. Saw play update one or two days ago and thought that it is the january one but it was the december one instead.
No, I didn't get any Jan update but got the new Dec update.
I just got the January 1 update (forced it). I haven't used it enough to notice any differences.
I got January Play system update as well.
I got a 52 MB Play System Update this morning, restarted like it said ... and am STILL on December update. That's the 2nd time Google has done that to me this month (last time a week or so ago with an update of just over 200 kb), idk wtf they're doing

If it makes you feel any better I just got the January update like 2 or 3 days ago checking randomly. Will say battery slightly improved on my end. Mainly because mobile network no longer drains an average of 30%+ but now averages around to 24~26% on ATT. Still bad but it used to be 35%~40% so.. at least it's improving

Well I DID get some 52 MB or so Play System Update last week but it still says December, and I had a much smaller one the week before that also didn't change the month/date. At this point I'm fully convinced that Google is mocking me and doing this on purpose

There was a long-ish list posted a few weeks ago about what the Play System Update would fix. At this point and with this device we can sure use all the updates/fixes we can get ... and besides: Pixels are supposed to get updates early so still not having the January Play System Updates on the 28th is pretty lame of Google.

Oh I get it. So none of these things are available yet then? Looking thru them not many, perhaps 1, are important to me and that's the connectivity line. Otherwise it seems like a list of things that don't really affect me. I'll post in the carrier services thread but I did get the 90 version today and I came out of a place today that used to take a reboot to regain network. Today it connected immediately so we're getting there. Also overnight I got 100 good signal whereas I was averaging 20% previously.
Anyway, I'm sure this update will come around the time of our next monthly.

General June feature drop is actually pretty amazing

So here is the XDA article about the feature drop
June Feature Drop for Google Pixels includes At a Glance improvements, Pocket Operator, and more
The June feature drop for Google Pixel devices is now available, and you can install it on your smartphone. It has a ton of new features.
www.xda-developers.com
And it really does look kind of..... underwhelming? like nothing there is very useful or important at large.
But the update actually brought nice stuff.
Check this article for the main take on the feature drop
June Feature Drop appears to cure most of what ailed Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro units
Most Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have seen a big improvement in their handsets' cellular connectivity after installing the June Feature Drop.
www.phonearena.com
I myself have noticed improvements in the time to fingerprint unlock, network seems to be faster and more stable in comparison to March, and my network battery usage went down from being around 30% to around 5%!
So all in all I'm happy with this update even though it didn't seem meaningful at the beginning. It makes this phone more fine tuned and worth.
Have you-all noticed any improvements?
Are you feeling it's better then before?
Yes much better. One day in only but noticeable for sure.

I used the android flash tool it factory reset my phone but that's not big deal for me I restored my backup from Google one.
I have noticed the fingerprint sensor is working better my phone seems to not get as good reception but the network is also not using 30% anymore it more like 10 or 15 which is still high but where I'm at now doesn't really have great reception to begin with

I usually wait for the update notification upon checking updates available. This time it didn't seem it was forthcoming anytime soon since my wife's P5 didn't get it either. So I sideloaded it yesterday. It took all of 7 - 10 min from recovery to reboot. Not sure what the delay is but I just didn't feel like waiting for them to do whatever the eff they need to do to release it.

I've definitely noticed an improvement in the fingerprint reader. I haven't noticed any different in network - but more so because I am usually on WiFi and generally don't have network issues when I am not.

Yeah, I ended up sideloading it. No issues, and everything feels a little snappier
I sideloaded it Monday afternoon. Wasn't having any issues before and am not having any issues after.
It's a little early to tell, but I think battery life has improved. I ended the day both Monday and Tuesday with a battery that was about 10%-15% higher than usual.
Being able to use music player like neutron working again is brilliant I had the update on Monday about 11pm I'm in uk
i installed June update 2 days ago. not sure if it is the update or battery guru which was installed at the same time, but now my phone ACTUALLY goes into deep sleep (as reported by battery guru)!!
Its always in deep sleep now for around 15/16hrs between charges and battery drain is down to as little as 1% per hr when screen off. Before I could lose around 20/30% from around 10pm (last phone use) until 6.30am when i pick my phone up the following morning.
One thing i am having issue with SINCE the June update is pixel launcher. Im getting errors saying it has stopped working. I Use Lawnchair anyway, but thats not the point. Just before I get the error about pixel launcher, the phone goes really slow.
A restart of the phone hasn't solved the issues and i have also cleared data/cache from the launcher to no avail.
I NEED TO CONNECT MULTIPLE BLUETOOTH DEVICES AT ONCE!
one weird error I have since updating. If I pull down the notification tab as soon as i click a notification, instead of opening it it will lock the screen
Noticed much improved battery life as well. A 2% drop in active usage and much better standby battery drain. Took my phone out of the charger at 1pm yesterday and I'm at 48% as of writing this message the net day at 6:35pm. Moderate active usage between then and now.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention that my phone doesn't seem to randomly overheat anymore while casually browsing the web.
EDIT 2:
Phone finally shut down today at 4pm, with around 50hours of total battery life and 6ish hours of screen time. This is probably the single biggest overall battery life improvement I've ever experienced just from installing an update alone on any phone I've owned.
NVM, I found the setting.
Definitely not better here battery or network wise after the June patch.
