Root for Oreo - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I just received the official Oreo OTA update.
Does Oreo require a different root method?
If so, where can I find the needed files, like twrp recovery, and so on?
Thank you for the help.

At this moment there isn't any valid solution to root oreo in this section. Only a beta twrp with one month ago's tests and unknown functionality: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/beta-t3728856

Just for being sure.
1. I wil install Olddroids Oreo
2. Flash TWRP for Oreo
3. Flash this root
4. Should I keep the TWRP (and not use it as it is limited in functionality) or should I flash erecovery back?
Thanks.

Maybe this is a noob question but is it possible to root without installing twrp recovery?
Because if I install twrp recovery I will probably loose the capacitive buttons and camera flash.

No,is not possible.

My device is the xt1527 its available?

How can I update SuperSU on 6.0.1?

I flashed a custom ROM based on stock 6.0.1, and I tried to update SuperSU in it by flashing the latest zip version, but I failed every time. What can I do to solve the problem? Thx in advance.
are you using the same type of SuperSU ? systemode or systemless ?
You have to use systemmode SuperSU package in order to root the Marshmallow. The latest version of this is 2.68.

just got BKL - L09 8.0.0. 163(432)

Out of the blue I got 163(432) through regular update. I guess just July security patches.
July security patches and EIS for 1080p 30 fps is all.

162 was June patches and EIS. Many didn't receive the 162 update and got the 163 update directly with July patches and EIS

I was on May patch too man. Got the July one directly just last week
I upgraded from 160 to 163 today too. But I had to tap menu in System update app and choose to download complete package, otherwise it didn't offer me any updates.

No, it won't erase data if you update via the system updater, unless you flash the full firmware manually

Pie WiFi problems.

I have problems with WiFi on Pie. WiFi is connected but sometimes it is inactive. It looks like some kind of deep sleep of WiFi. After couple of seconds it works again. Anyone have problems with WiFi? I know that LG is informed about that strange behaviour on Pie.

on my older h932, i had wifi problems as well with Pie roms so i flashed the modem radio found in this topic via TWRP
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/stock-t-mobile-lg-v30-stock-collection-t3917560
and found that fixed my problem.

I didn't? maybe it's the ROM you are using. I did this on a liquid remix pie ROM on an older phone that was stolen from me long ago.
On my new h932 I flashed havoc 2.9 over a flashable stock Oreo and wifi seemed to work but I have the flashable modem on my sd card just in case

Ah I understand. In fact, the problem is on stock Pie, with custom rom there's no problem
