stuttering bluetooh connection - Elephone S8 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
i got my new Elephone S8 and have a issue when i want to stream Youtube via Bluetooth to my headset.
It keeps sturring the whole time, but don't know why.
Maybe unstable bluetooth connectivity?
With my old smartphone Honor 7 i never had this issue!
Does anybody have the same issue or knows how to fix it?
I'm not a developer or something, but could the EngineerMode (*#*#3646633#*#*) solve that?
Thanks and regards!

Hmm, I use my S8 with a BT headset about 6-8 hours a day, mostly music and audio books, but a fair amount of YouTube as well, with no such problem.
The only issues I have had is if I was holding the phone in Landscape mode watching a video and my hand covered the upper back of the phone (where the cam lives). I suspect the radios are there and my hand was interfering with the reception/transmission of the BT radio.
If that's not it, and if it happens with different BT devices, might want to look into an exchange, you might have a defective phone.

yes, this happens with different BT devices, regardless if I stream music via Youtube or Spotify... its always stuttering.
Would be a shame if I have to send it back to Hong Kong (Gearbest) just because of the costs...
Anybody else has an idea?

I have the same problem if my smartwatch is connected. Disconnect watch, start music or video, then reconnect my watch and all is fine.

Yeah, mine has started doing the same thing. I've had the phone for about 5 months. Rebooting the phone fixes it when it starts doing it.

So I have a different Bluetooth problem...
While I *can* connect an Anker Bluetooth receiver to make my wired headphones Bluetooth, I can't hear anything with pure Bluetooth headphones... When they connect and I start playing sound, it makes the phone lag and nothing comes out of the headphones apart from the occasional pop.
Anyone else with this problem and possibly know a fix? I've tried doing the whole "disconnect smartwatch, connect headphones, connect smartwatch" but it hasn't worked

If you just received this phone, it might be better to just return it. Full of defects and no support.
Did you try changing volume when it's connected to BT.
Make sure that output is set to BT.

I had the same problem. But after enabled "BT RX ADC Clock selection" it seems to work fine. Go to service mode *#*#3646633#*#* and then >Connectivity>Bluetooth>BT RX ADC Clock slelection> Turn on.

I couldn't find Bluetooth under connectivity - are you sure that's where it is?

Have you tried:
- to complete close Smartwatch-App /
Music-App / YouTube/
- connect Bluetooth device
- start YouTube / Music / App ....

DUDE I LOVE YOU, works for me, i using my elephone s8 now and work"s fine!!!

I had a problem with unstable BT connection aswell. Nothing worked for me from this forum and others. It can be update on some app or just some user installed app itself. I didn't check this solution on factory rom because I installed alternative rom months ago but, should work there aswell. I don't know which app it is, so my solution is radical: Factory reset + blocking updates on all apps in google play.

Routing Music etc. through Bluetooth ?

Hi all
I have a Bluetooth Car Kit but it seems that bluetooth only works with phonecalls. I use a Internet Radio app and would like to route the audio through the car kit rather than having my SGS2 on the dashboard, listening via the onboard speaker.

Actually this is something I'd like to do as well. My car bluetooth shows as "Phone Audio" in BT settings if I could amend this Profile so it plays any music through the car this would be great!
On the standard player if you press the menu button you get a "Via Bluetooth" option fo this.

I've tried that but since the Bluetooth is listed as Phone Audio it wouldnt play through the BT

If I'm on a call and I play a MP3/or a text message comes through it plays over bluetooth audio.
I have the Motorola T505 car kit and route music (or phone calls) from my SGS2 to car's stereo speakers. Use pretty much every day to and from work; listen to Pandora or stored songs via Neutron player. Is this what you are ultimately trying to do?
My device has a push-button that syncs the device to a chosen FM channel; I then tune to this channel. The trick is finding one that offers lower static. Did not perform any other on-phone settings but can look tomorrow morning if helpful.
Sound quality could be better (much, much), but it's great to be able to hear my own selections.
Hope this helps.
I am particularly trying to use TuneIn (tunein.com) which streams radio stations over the net but there are a growing number of radio stations supplying Android and iPhone apps

Hey, that's a cool looking app (just looked up); will be downloading.
Hmmm, I have not come across any BT audio device that does not support both voice and audio, and I have several. Does your car kit doc state that it supports both (and maybe FM pass-through)?
Regardless of FM pass-through, have you tried completely removing the paring and then repairing? Reason I ask is because I just flashed a new ROM and kernel to my phone, and when I paired the Sony HBH-IS800 earphone (my gym rig), it showed the paired-connected symbol but when I started music, it played though the phone speakers only. When I checked the profile, it read "Connected to phone." I then deleted the paring, rebooted for safe measure, and repaired. This time, the profile read "Connected to phone and media audio". Was the first time ever seeing this with a BT pairing.
Something to try at any rate....

As I was saying..... I've only seen one bluetooth kit that's phone only; the poster's screen shot above... Sorry sir, had never heard of Blueconnect (is it nice?).
I actually skipped over your post as was more responding to the OP, for which I am still uncertain which car kit is being used.
When shopping for a car kit, I keyed on the ones that advertised being FM transmit capable.
TuneIn claim to support Bluetooth but there are a few posting on the web from other TuneIn users with this same issue. TuneIn suggested I speak to by BT device manufacturer - a device for which I have feck all details. It works fine for phonecalls and worked fine with music on a previous WinMo phone. I think WinMo had options to allow BT to be used for more than just phonecalls. There are very few (none !) options within the Bluetooth menu. Thought I might have been able to Long Press on a paired device to get into further options but

Bluetooth SBC bitpool 35 on H850 V20b resulting bad audio quality

Hi, people of internet! Here some research, to prove that im not gone mad or having a nocebo effect, since I was very disappointed in bt audio quality of h850 running 7.0 (V20b) compared to lg g2 running cm13. The regression that I didn't expect.
So, even without root on g5, in the devel options we can enable bt log dump:

1. Dasable bluetooth.
2. Turn logging on.
3. Enable bluetooth and connect a device.
4. Play your lovely tunes in any audio player for ~5 seconds.
5. Disable bluetooth, turn off logging.
The log file named btsnoop_hci.log will appear on /sdcard.
Delete or rename this file every test.
Do not forget to turn the logging option off, otherwise it will flood your storage.
And analyze these files in Wireshark:
Lets compare the two. The testing device is JBL Reflect bt mini (also tested with Plantronics M70 with same result).
LG G2, requesting capabilities of device (useful to check which codec(s) your device supports)
And getting reply that only SBC (not aptx, mp3 or aac, we are talking sbc only here) codec is supported, giving the command to use it with bitpool (quality) from 2 to 53, as reported.
Later in the log we see actual sbc packets transmitted, each carrying music itself, so to say, at maximum bitpool of 53. Also note the packet size.
And the music sounds good, well, for sbc at least.
Now lets look at LG G5
Results are, negotiating quality and settings with the device, is same, but when we take a single sbc packet.. Actual sbc bitpool is 35.
Why, LG? So, if you guys test it for yourself and report back here, it would be great.
To me it looks like an android bug, maybe closed long time ago in the mainstream and lg was just unlucky to snapshot it. Dunno.
Further actions may be waiting for 7.1 or rooting and trying to find if bitpool 35 is indeed hardcoded and where.
Update: Well, frack me sideways. Problem fixed itself by hard resetting again (3rd time for the phone) and then re-pairing headphones. Go figure. Thank you for your attention.
Similar behavior
Greetings from late 2018. I am seeing similar behavior. My G5 drops from bitpool of 53 to 25. In my case, this happens whenever there is BLE advertising which happens every 15 seconds or so for about 10 seconds. This makes listening to audio sources that only support sbc unlistenable. This started happening about a year after I bought it so I am thinking that an update broke it.
I'll probably try what you did (hard resets) and see what happens.
If you or anyone have a suggestion, please let me know.
Thanks!

Yes, that..
Since then, bt was behaving well.
I would suggest also resetting network settings (found in "Backup & Reset") without a full system reset, then pairing BLE and regular bt devices in some order or another, like good old "jiggle the handle" method untill its working :b
For me, I have a pocophone f1 now running a custom rom (Sybiria) which includes so called SBC HD, (take a look at this commit for explaination review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_system_bt/+/229125 ) tl;dr aptx-like quality on nearly any sbc device.

Audio switches from Bluetooth to loudspeaker

This happens to me all the time now:
- I turn my Bluetooth headphones on and listen to something
- About 5-10 minutes later, audio goes out on the headphones and it plays through the loudspeaker
- Bluetooth does not disconnect, I can still use the remote of the bluetooth headset to start and stop music, but if I stop and start music with the headset remote, it still plays through loudspeaker
- Firmware is BLA-L29 C432 129
- Happens with Spotify aswell as with the stock Music player
- Restarting Bluetooth temporarily fixes the problem, until it starts to happen again after 5-10mins
- Tried two different bluetooth headphones (Teufel Move BT, Jaybird X3)
I had this occasionally happen on the firmware I had before (127) aswell.

I'm on firmware 127-C432 and used a Jabra Bluetooth headset with Spotify or pi music player without problem.
I was now able to record logs when this happened.
I attached the log file.
Any developers able to see what the problem is?
Ah, file didn't upload.

I use Nova Launcher aswell.
Going to see if removing it helps, I will also submit the logs to Nova Launcher, maybe they know what is going on.
I'm having the same issue. I'm on AL-ALP29 8.0.0.129 C185.
I'm using the stock launcher. Let me know if you find a solution!
Same problem stock launcher, bla l29 c432 127L... Annoying... Nearly as annoying as the low output volume...
So far, since removing nova launcher and doing another step, I noticed no more problems.
Yesterday I listened to audio for 2 hours without it going to loudspeaker.
What I also did was disable the wallpaper rotation on the lock screen.
You can do this by going to the lockscreen and then swiping up and hitting the pause button.
I only did this because I saw a lot of errors for timelivewallpaper in the logs which are now gone.

Unfortunately, shortly after posting this, I had the problem aswell.
Attached logs for this one aswell.
Maybe anyone who is also having this problem could provide logs aswell.
I record logs by using matlog: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pluscubed.matlog
If you have root you can give it permission to read logs, otherwise you can give it permission via adb, on the start of the app it shows instructions.
If the problem happens instantly go to matlog and press pause in the top, then go to File -> Save
matlog reads the system logs so the events before you started matlog are also recorded.
Oh, I also talked to Huawei and they basically told me to **** off because I'm running 8.0.0.129 which isn't signed yet.
I'm on holiday now but will try to provide some logs when I get back. Fingers crossed it might just be something they fix in 130.
any news on this? I have the exact same issue on a Mate 9 upgraded to Oreo (official)
Also has happened to me on L09(C782) - currently on Firmware 128.
I did have Nova installed, but it happened after uninstalling it. I'll try to record logs next time, but it seems to occur after a notification arrives (possibly related to how it plays the notification sound?) - which switches bluetooth audio to the speaker, even though the bluetooth device is still connected (play/pause work).
Disconnecting and reconnecting works, so my guess is that it's redirecting the audio incorrectly for notification and then not restoring it afterwards?
i had this problem today for the first time. disconnect/reconnect did the trick. stock launcher.

Bluetooth micro-disconnection when playing music

Hi guys!
Just bought the Redmi Note 5 Global version yesterday. Amazing phone, everything seems to work fine.
Except one thing.. I have some issues with the Bluetooth when I'm listening music through the Bluetooth sound system of my car. The music is played normally but sometimes I have some micro disconnections (maybe each 40s). They appear more often when I'm using the phone at the same time.. The music is stopped during maybe 0.5 second and restart at the same point. Even when the music is played we can sometimes heard some weird stuff like "Trr Trr". I come from a O+ 3T and never had this issue.
Another point is when I try to listen music with my JBL Flip 3 bluetooth speaker, absolutely no issue. My girlfriend's Note 5 has exactly the same problem. We have Android 8.1.0 and MIUI 9.5.17.
I already try to reset network parameters, flush system cache, flush bluetooth cachey, change protocols versions within the developer mode... Nothing better..
So, if someone had the same problem and successfully fix it, it could be cool to post it here. Or any clue is accepted
Thank you very much,
Tom.

Not exactly the same problem but Also bluetooth issue.
Thank you, indeed not the same problem and no fix :/
I just create a bug report on the MI website, don't hesitate to confirm the bug to make it more visible.

Thank you
I have the same problem with my car system.
Which car do you have ?
I'm seeing on forums that Oreo bluetooth has issues with several bluetooth car systems...

I have a VW Golf 7 from 2015. I think it's the first discover media...
What is very strange it that even modifying codec and some stuff within the developer mode I'm not able to find any solution... Seems to be a problem related to Oreo... It's a very very important feature for me, I drive a lot of km each month...
I'm very frustrating... This bug needs to be more confirmed...
Hi guys.
Just a comment to say I notice that Bluetooth skipping are appearing more often when I use the phone while listening to music. When I'm driving for instance if I use Waze when I'm listening to music I have a lot of skipping. If my phone is just the screen off and don't use it I have much less skipping.
Maybe it's "just" a priority problem between bluetooth and other processes...
I brought the phone yesterday.
Unable to pair it with my car built-in Bluetooth in order to make calls. No pairing since I am unable to insert the pairing code in the phone.
My car Toyota RAV4.
This phone is useless for me.
Never had this problems with other phones
Mmmh I think this problem is known, just try to manually set the code to only zeros. Or try searching on the internet with this clue.
Updated to Global Developer MIUI 10 and problem solved.
Pairing now fast and easy
It could be great to know if it solve the skipping issue...

Question Maps navigation forces Bluetooth, not speaker, ONLY on my Pixel 6

Hi folks,
I've scoured the web and haven't found an answer on Google Maps support, and I think this is specific to the Pixel 6 because two other phones I have don't do this.
My Pixel 6 (still on January update, completely stock, no root or other mods) won't let me use the phone speaker for Google Maps navigation. It ALWAYS puts the sound through the bluetooth connection to the car it's paired with. I don't want that, I want the navigation voice to use the phone speaker (because I usually use the car radio, not bluetooth audio, and when the car is in radio mode any voice directions sent over bluetooth aren't heard).
The "answer" I always find is to turn off "play voice over bluetooth" but I've ALREADY DONE THAT.
In Maps, Account, Settings, Navigation settings, Sound&Voice, here is the setting on my phone:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can see voice over bluetooth is toggled off. I've tried turning it on then off again, no effect. It always sends voice over bluetooth.
I'm convinced somewhere in the Pixel it's trapping all audio when paired and sending it over bluetooth, aside from this specific screen. Where would the setting be to turn it off. I've tried two other android phones, one on Android 11 and on on Android 9, and neither do this.
This is driving me crazy, literally. The only fix is to turn off bluetooth, but then phone pairing of course doesn't work for calls and messages. Help!
Yep, same here and it's annoying.
I started a thread on the google community:
Navigation won't use speaker; uses bluetooth even when "play voice over bluetooth" is disabled - Google Maps Community

Interesting! I found one other report similar to mine, also on a Pixel (a 4 I think) besides this thread. I bet there is some Pixel specific setting somewhere I need to toggle.
@a g bell by any chance have you taken the February update? I have held off on it due to reports of wifi issues... I wonder if this is fixed in February's update?
Yes l have the latest Feb patch from last week
Hmmm... Maybe it's worth me risking taking the update then.
So, I updated to the February update but no joy on this Maps issue. No change at all before/after update.
It's actually quite interesting, and inexplicable. I did a test sitting in my office, with Bluetooth "on" but not paired to any devices. No sound from the speaker when I play the test sound.
Next I turned off bluetooth entirely in the connection settings. Then, going back in to Navigation settings and playing a test sound gets the proper speaker sounds.
Turning bluetooth back on (but again, not paired with anything) results in no speaker sound for the Test Sound in Maps.
All other audio on the phone is fine; nothing else is being trapped and sent to a nonexistent bluetooth connection.
I've been doing the following as a workaround.
Locate the bluetooth settings on your phone for your vehicle and turn off media audio. Your phone call will still go through your vehicle speakers and your navigation audio will go through your phone.
You unfortunately will not be able to listen to bluetooth music from your phone over your vehicle speakers with that setting disabled.
I just hope Android 13 is not as big of a failure as Android 12 has been.
I've found a "sort of workaround for some situations."
After some playing around, I got to the point where, with bluetooth turned on, but nothing connected (just me and my phone in my office, no bluetooth devices connected), I was getting the navigation voice over the phone speaker. Yay.
Of course, going into my car, and connecting via bluetooth, the voice stopped, being forced over bluetooth even though I had turned off "Play voice over bluetooth" in the navigation settings (and, my car is in radio mode, so anything coming over bluetooth audio wouldn't be played on the car speakers).
Anyway, I found that on my phone, if I go into the specific bluetooth connection (in my case, titled "Toyota Highlander") and tap the gear next to it representing settings, and toggle off the "Media audio" option (while keeping phne calls, contact sharing, and text messages enabled), then the navigation voice stays on the speaker.
This isn't ideal since now and then I like to stream audio to the bluetooth audio of the car, but MOST of the time I just use the radio, and for now it makes sense to settle for nav voice working and if I want to stream audio, manually enable it in settings.

Great minds think alike. I was posting exactly this just as you were posting it!!
I saw on another forum that it is working on Android 13 DP1. When beta rolls around, I guess I'll try it, unless google fixes Android 12.
I received an update to Android 12 today that I believe is the same as 12.1 and preliminary tests show that this issue has been fixed.

Which update was this? I've not received anything yet...
I have the 4a 5g and received 12.1 or 12L. Your 6 should receive it soon.
