aosp extended marmite - Wileyfox Swift 2 Questions & Answers

Hello!
I still don't see thread about this rom, but i have question already.
Cpu performance is terrible. Kernel inside is lineageos kernel. I found that it always work with just 2 cores instead of all 4 cores.
Is that a known issue?

Hi guys,
I'm looking to get an android device for my OH. She's not that tech-savvy (though she knows a bit as my geekyness rubs off on her), however I simply don't trust stock firmware so I'll want a custom ROM on it. She will be using the phone as a phone/web browser/camera/games. What's this device like in terms of usability, battery life etc? Does the 800mhz cpu cause lag at all? If I can get it for under £100 is it worth it, or should I fork out the extra £50 for a X10 Mini Pro?
As for the CM firmware, is it gingerbread?
Sorry for the semi off-topic post but I don't trust phone salesmen and the xda community know what they are talking about =]
Hi there
if you're talking about x8 then the processor is 600mhz, not 800.
For me it's really a question of what kind of games does she like to play because for things like email, web and some other random stuff X8 is just fine now that we have a flash player working too.
About games i can say that i have some real troubles trying to play some of them, even overclocking (my processor only supports 710mhz max) and most of the time we have to take a look on web to search for a modified version for our X8.
If i can give you a suggestion i have a friend at work that bought almost for the same price a Samsung Galaxy Gio gt5660, take a look. It has 800mhz processor, and has upgrade from samsung to 2.3.3 with flash player support.
hope i helped you.
If you use the overclock module from gc 7.3 you can reach 768mhz,and if you use the new 2.3.7 gb version you can set the frequency from 768 minto 768 max

there's also module to overclock to 800mhz max
Thanks for the info, its greatly appreciated. Basically shes currently using a iphone 3G thats donkey years old with no power button or volume rocker. It's slow as moses. She plays games from the market but no 3d racing or online rpgs, just puzzle games and minigames (rat on the run, angry birds etc). I'm looking to get her a phone thats quite nice but not really expensive. The main features need to be decent speed (no lagging on phone menus like with the iphone) and it must be future-proof (which is why I want a phone that has active custom development).
I can pick up the X8 for £75, the Galaxy Gio seems to be around £120 with the X10 Mini Pro at £150. If I can't find a good deal I might just give her my hd2 and buy a new flagship device xD
tl;dr Thanks for the info!

[KERNEL][3.0.31]standard + working HDMI

Hi, if someone is willing to try this kernel I will appreciate !
I need more user input, I tested it only on Droid 4 but the user base is not so large as RAZR so I made a build for it.
the kernel is a clean 3.0.31 (almost) there are no additional stuff like those present on dtrail JBX kernel, no overclocking, and based on my tests I can say it's stable. Most of the my version of kernel where merged on dtrail's kernel.
you can see in the picture attached that the standby seems to be really good (on 1735mah)
you need to use safestrap 3.65 or overwrite the files directly in the rom image.
I repeat that I don't own a RAZR and I would appreciate your input.
Edit:
the sources are here:
https://github.com/lucize/android_kernel_motorola_omap4-common
07.04.2014 - improve hdmi detection, should work 1080p everywhere, hwc.c update is needed from your ROM maintainer
19.03.2014 - hdmi from kernel 3.4, my sony avr is now a good boy and outputs sound
18.03.2014 - fixed HDMI native cable and colors, 720p and sound over HDMI on my philips but 1080p over DVI, movies 1080p over HDMI, but no sound on my sony receiver without a monitor attached, please share your experience.
17.03.2014
WIP HDMI, on my philips monitor, hdmi - hdmi is not working, only hdmi - dvi, please test if this is working for you, the colors are reversed, hopefully i'll understand why, tested only on droid 4, please share your experience.

should work, I don't know if there are more stuff to be enable for UMTS except modifying the build.prop
droid 4 is made for cdma by default, but I use it on gsm
I don't know what is the average standby of the battery for razr, but for droid 4, only when the phone was in standby and not moved around would last about 20h, now I have 45% with 24h uptime and in the middle of the week.

thank you for testing and input !
I would like to know if someone else is having bad experience whit this (regarding to standby and not heavy usage, because lacking 100 mhz support), over jbx kernel thread I see lot of positive things after drtail incorporating it to his work.
I don't know what to think if this kernel is good on general omap4 without more tweaks or only on droid 4?
trying to merge parts of 3.4 or greater should be considered ? or is waste of time as I achieved my goals with this (except hdmi).
thank you for your input !

This kernel, JBX and also the Moto stock kernel are true hybrids. Means that there are many backports from higher kernel versions, like 3.4, 3.7, etc. In JBX are addituional backports from 3.8, 3.10, 3.11. In fact these kernels are very mixed Btw: Currenlty patching JBX to 3.0.72 --> 3.0.88.

Well, that's about 2 years of constant learning C code and not giving it up.. And kind of a iron will to make things work like imagined before.. LOL
But there's still a LOT of stuff to learn even for me! People like Hashcode seem to have a brain, bigger than a whole football field... :silly:

I first started with nexus 101 but hashcode told me to rebase it to omapzoom 31, anyway they are getting the code to mainline kernel after we and other omapzoom users test it's stability
the goal is to have a better kernel in CM by standard and I don't know if your approach would be accepted, that's why I try to remain on the "vanilla" version but I don't know if the approach is good because lack of user input from other omap4 platforms.
every razr user is using your kernel ?
as I see there is ducati binary for 3.4 kernel so trying something wouldn't hurt but I'm starting to be busy and it took me almost a month to make 31 as you see it

I have spoken about this issues a few times in different thread since January of this year, however i will be more then willing to explain the details so that you can maybe reinvent the situation.Rom used "Cyanfox" with and without JBX, using a bluetooth headset along with any assistant program example "Dragon Mobile Assistant" app.Use it and the phone process goes into hearing what you say to the assistant, and that's when the problem occurs. The phone starts to freeze up and the lockups then reboots. If you attempt to do it again it will just repeat the same process every time. That is all i really know.I even tried to use different assistant programs and it would create the same problem.

Improve camera and speed overall, stop lagging

Hi to all,
first to say, I am not M4A owner, but, in my company lots of people got it as company phone (8GB versions) and everyone complains...
Primarily, lagging, lack of internal memory, camera too slow, and I saw it myself, that LP SW is real pain in the a....
I had previously Z2, Z ultra, Z3C, and now Z3+ , and really likes Sony phones, and although all these were flagships, I am sure M4A can perform better.
So, what do you, users, recommend?
Ideas:
- rooting, custom recovery
- exposed
- some scripting like skynet project
- is there some better camera SW that will speed up camera performance
- What is the best way to solve memory issues etc...
I'd like to help (at list some of them, willing to play with it)...But I need real info from users that improved their user experience...

In my opinion, the only thing that really could improve the overall performance of this device is an optimized kernel. The first firmware for this phone was great in terms of performance, then it started going downhill and the recent updates made a sort of "uphill" but still bad. Storage and performance is what limits the satisfaction of using this phone - other than that, everything is great!
Gaming is very bad i don't know why I had Xperia tx 1G ram 2 core but it's much better than m4 with 2 G ram 8 core why? camera is just bad very slow hope someone just fix them we need real devloper because it's software problems not hardware

This method is based on modifying interactive governor. So you need root access. You can do this by 2 ways. The first is kernel auditor (also requires busybox). Just set up interactive parametres as i wrote on 4pda. I think you will understand how to do this. The 2 way is to put init.qcom.post_boot.sh into system/etc with right permissions. It's the same, but as for me it's more comfortable. You can just change governor to ondemand, but phone will randomly rebooting

Yes, but situation is better than if you set ondemand. If you want to cool down your phone, just change thermal engine file. You can download it here, on xda. As for me, i don't give a f... about overheating. You can cook everywhere)

Nope. This is more advanced than just changing governor. You have to manually change some interactive governor parametres.

Optimized Android roms?

Hi everybody, our Kenzo device is getting now more and more stable roms now i am addressing a message to rom builders : why not try to port roms known to be greatly optimized like Ubermallow (successor of optipop for those who know about) source here build with UberTC or Screw'd rom with the brand new DragonTC , the redmi is a powerful device and i really want to see it giving the best. Thanks in advance
Aarch64 devices seem to love custom toolchains : i'm looking around in the nexus6p forum and for Screw'd roms i can see big improvements for their devices , latency reduced , 70k Antutu stock vs 85-90k on Screw'd, that's pretty promising

I think something is messed up on our phone. It could be way faster than it is. My old nexus 4 is nearly on the same level of performance, so instead of flooding our forum with ROMs(which isn't bad at all) the devs should more look at the optimisation of the kernel etc.

Kernel with EAS Support

Hey guys,
is it possible to include EAS in our kernels?
http://www.androidauthority.com/arm-bringing-energy-aware-scheduling-to-android-664926/
It seems promising, the pixel phones are using it by default.
I've heard of it already, let's see if it's possible
On HTC 10 eas works fine, here are some links with information about eas posted from the dev.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=70710525
@MEGAX91 @Umang96 @psndna88 @khan_frd2002 @Ashish94 Is EAS something for your kernels?
@Try it or die i was planning to give it a try but its really time consuming and i dont think i can give that much time right now but if any other dev planing you might check this out
https://github.com/android/kernel_msm/tree/android-msm-bullhead-3.10-marshmallow-mr1-eas
Google added EAS to bullhead which is close to our base kernel, so that might work for us too
@Try it or die
Mate , we need accurate energy model in order to implant EAS support in kernel source.
i used EAS on my Le Max 2 before ( daily usage battery life is way better with EAS instead of old HMP )
