[THEME/APP] Substratum+Andromeda on Nokia 8 - Nokia 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

It is possible to use Substratum theme engine on your Nokia 8 with Oreo 8.0+!
While Andromeda is not free and there are "ways" to get it, but I strongly suggest to support the developers since this app is one of a kind and gives you theming capability on your unrooted phone!
LIMITATIONS & WORK AROUNDS:
* Andromeda requires device with USB debugging enabled, a PC with ADB drivers installed and a script which needs to be executed every time to start substratum to perform ANY kind of editing or theme change.
* Themes require regular updates to avoid crashes and compatibility issues with system apps
* One simple work around to avoid crashes is to disable auto updates on play store AND always have recovery in substratum. Then update theme first then the rest of system and theme-able apps from play store
* Always restart the phone after applying theme and check all system apps thoroughly to confirm compatibility
* Launcher3 based theme edits may cause immediate home screen crash and easy way to get back to substratum is to attach the phone back to PC and rerun the Andromeda script which will get you to substratum app where you can recover to previous setting

Has anyone got this to work? It 'applies' but - doesn't actually change anything.
Edit: I applied it a bunch of times and it started working. Weird!

I enabled twilight theme without problems ;]

[MOD] [AROMA] [OOS4.x] H2O2 - New Accent Colors, Clock mods, Grammar Fix and more

IntroductionThis is a port of my H2O2 mod which I originally made for Oneplus 3. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/mod-h2o2-accent-colors-grammar-fix-t3514804/
Features- All mods are optional in AROMA installer
- Pixel blue as default color
- New accent colors in Light Theme: Wine, Navy Blue, Teal
- New accent colors in Dark Theme: White, Red and Lime
- Fixed Grammar in Settings > Battery > High Power Usage apps
- Removed network status indicators - the blinking arrows in status bar from pre-kitkat era
- Status bar doesn't turn orange when Battery saver is enabled
- Center clock (optional) - Please disable default clock from Settings > Status bar otherwise you will have two clocks
- Disable AM/PM in default clock
Installation1. Make nandroid before you flash this.
2. Download the zip and flash it.
3. Hit thanks and enjoy
For reporting bugs, please attach screenshots if possible
Compatibilityv0.5 - For OOS 4.0 and ROMS based on OOS4.0
Issues?I didn't have any bootloops without root so it doesn't seem to be necessary. However for some people, rooting fixed the issue. You can unroot later.
Starting with version 3.5, I have made some improvements in installer to avoid. If you still face bootloop, For anyone experiencing bootloops, please provide the following info
1) F2Fs or ext4
2) Encrypted or not
3) Rooted or not
4) Save log in aroma installer and attach
To fix bootloops, dirty flash ROM

Beta 0.5 is the first release for 3T. Please ignore changelog in AROMA installer. I forgot to edit it.
Since I do not have a OP3T myself, there may be some minor bugs in this version. Currently I'm looking for some beta testers for stable releases in future. PM me if interested

Currently it is for OOS 4.0 stable only.
I think beta builds are named ob1,2... etc and not OOS 4.
Will try this on stock unrooted OOS4.0 Nougat for OP3T in a minute. Hope it really does work on un-rooted stock OOS 4.0, since then I would be able to use bank apps which do not work on rooted systems unless rom is compatible with xposed or suhide/root switch.

In my testing, it worked without root.
Root in any case is only required for installation. You can unroot after installing the mod
Everything working great except for the settings app being super slow on the initial start. But that's not really an issue.
Could attach a video if you need.

Funny, but it does not work on my stock OOS 4.0 (file-system untouched (all default with data @f2fs, encrypted by default).
1. While unrooted ->
Tried on stock OOS 4.0 (unrooted) just the center clock option with everything else left untouched and it did not work. Status bar is completely empty and quick toggles/quick settings are inaccessible.
2. When rooted ->
Tried on stock OOS 4.0 (rooted). System boots up with black screen screen. You can access reboot menu by holding power button and you can see print screen edges, but otherwise the whole screen is pitch black

Just to be sure, you would need to boot into system once after rooting, open SuperSU app, reboot to recovery and then flash the mod.

I don't know for sure what the issue is. I request everyone flashing this to save logs during installation (last installation screen in AROMA) and attach the same if it causes black screen or other issues. Thanks

Network indicator is systemui based so that is working.
For accent colors, settings.apk is from 3T so shouldn't be an issue.

I got it working on rooted system. Steps:
1. Simply booted into system 1 time after I had installed latest SuperSU;
2. Booted into twrp;
3. Installed your mod;
4. Wiped dalvik and cached;
5. Booted into system;
6. Center clock works
Now I will try and see if it (center clock remains), if I un-root my phone via superSU app.

Unfortunately removing root causes the following:
1. Status bar is all black (no icons are visible);
2. Quick toggles and settings are inaccessible.

If center clock was working properly with root, it means the systemUI was copied properly with right permissions. Removing root would not change that.
Can you try to go back to recovery, mount system. Then use the twrp file manager, browse to system> priv-app> OPSystemUI folder. You'll find OPSystemUI.apk. Select and do chmod 644.
If this doesn't sort out, I guess dirty flash your ROM to restore everything back to normal

Should I do it after I run SuperSU app - Settings - Full Unroot?
Any other unroot method besides using SuperSU apps Full Unroot option?
I am thinking that maybe superSU messes up something..

After unroot
SuperSU really shouldn't interfere with system files.
Statusbar stuff is related to SystemUI. Either the systemUI itself crashed (which would resolve on next reboot) or permissions somehow got messed up (chmod 644 would solve this)
Check permissions using a root file explorer like Solid explorer for OPSystemUI.apk (inside system > priv-app > opsystemui ) while you are rooted. Should be rw-r-r
Btw can you grab aroma log next time you install the mod. Thanks

Andromeda not working on S9+ (965W)?

Just picked up an unlocked S9+ through Trade-In at samsung. Andromeda doesn't work for me. The connection status dialog doesn't open at all, the app does nothing when I try to open it and Substratum is always hanging on the Andromeda Not Connected message. Did this happen because I copied data via Smart Switch? Or is it another issue? If it helps, I have the snapdragon model.
Hmmm. It's working fine for me. Maybe make sure you have the drivers installed on your computer before running the computer side script.

If you can uninstall and reinstall install Andromeda. I had a similar issue. If your device is responding the adb devices you should be good. Sometimes I think it is the license check that substratum does.

Try yoru substratum theme and let me know if it works.
I also can't get anything to work. Everything is great till I click install themes and it compiles them with no errors but doesn't install the apks

Once it says connected, reboot your device and reconnect to Andromeda and pick your theme in Substratum...
Not working for me either. T-Mobile variant. Everything appears to work properly, but the themes and mods never actually get applied.
In my case, it probably has something to do with ADB. I was able to get permissions working for Custom Navbar via ADB shell. After that, I tried to grant permissions for the System UI Tuner app but, when attempting to grant those permissions after entering ADB shell, I'm getting an "ADB not found" error message. Same message when running "ADB devices." Says ADB not found.
I've tried revoking ADB debugging, rebooting, disabling and then enabling ADB debugging again, but nothing seems to work. WTF?

I looked in the Substratum section. Someone said to go into Samsung themes apply a different theme then reapply you old theme. I then went into substratum and all my overlays showed up in manager. I selected them all and enabled them. All has worked fine since then.
A had a Samsung theme installed, put back the original and everything started to work. Thanks!

So, the way it works. Apply your overlays from a specific theme. Build and enable. Then reboot, connect to Andromeda again, then open the theme again, overlays, and you'll see they are compiled, select them, then hit enable, some apply and some need another reboot.
Now, you can enable and disable after that and they will show instantly. Forexample, i would apply two nav bars, then i can see the changes when changing the state without rebooting after the steps above. Pain in the a$$ especially the nougat version was more painful to install every overlay, but ..... it works.
Not working
I am on Verizon, and have gotten it to connect, but every time i reboot, disonnected.
None of the overlays are ever applied.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thank you!
My issue is Samsung messages app wont theme, anyone have a solution?

Make sure you have no Samsung theme applied. Or apply one and then revert back to original. Them reboot. Reconnect and try to apply a substratum theme then.

Installation Instructions:
1. Install the Installer from the Play store.
2. Download the Magisk Module. Open Magisk > Go to Modules > Tap the + icon > Select the Module to flash > Reboot
3. Open the Installer > Run through the initial setup & Grant it Root Access
4. Select and install the Accent color & continue to install the overlays
5. Reboot once System prompts a reboot after it finishes installing the overlays.
6. Once you boot the installer will take a couple of minutes to verify the resources and finish installing overlays
7. Reboot again manually after a couple of minutes.
8. Boot up and Done, Enjoy the #FunkyOOSDarkside :good:
Uninstaller
Whenever you want to go stock, simply
1. Deactivate and uninstall the Magisk Module
2. Download the Pie Rescue Zip
3. Reboot to TWRP & Flash the Rescue Zip
4. Reboot System and the overlays should be all gone.
5. Uninstall the Installer app if you want to remove it completely.
Please Note:
* For your own safety, you must remove all overlays before performing any kind of software\firmware upgrade (device OTA, ROM flash, etc) as you can boot to an unusable system if you don’t uninstall all overlays first.
• Pie Magisk modules users: as you may know some modules can cause a conflict with the overlays and disable them after a reboot. You can now solve this by using the Installer with its Magisk module too. You can find the module here or in the “Downloads” section in Magisk Manager, and the Installer will install overlays systemlessly with it.
* When you swap to module mode, the Installer will attempt to convert all your current overlays to the systemless method. This conversion may fail if you currently have modules that are conflicting enabled, and the overlays will simply end up removed. Nothing to worry about - just reboot, reinstall all the overlays (it's super quick on Pie!), reboot again and you're good to go.
* Alternative scenario: the conversion fails and the overlays in system don’t end up removed either; you need to simply open up the Installer, select all in the Active tab, and Update tab, uninstall all the overlays and reboot. You also can, as another option, flash the Pie TWRP rescue zip you find up here. After this is done and you boot back, and making sure the module is enabled, you can simply reinstall everything, reboot, and done.
* Bonus for the Magisk module mode: if you need to disable all overlays for any reason, you can simply disable the module from Magisk Manager and reboot - overlays are gone!
• To make sure the theme works fine on OxygenOS, you MUST enable the native OxygenOS dark theme. You can do so from Settings > Display > Theme, and pick dark.
• Important notice about the System accent in OxygenOS: when you change the accent color in the Personalize tab and update the Android System overlay, the OxygenOS ROM will still keep the old SystemUI accent cached, and keep doing so even after a reboot. The way to make it update is: go to Settings > Display > Accent color; pick any random color (bonus: the bottom right accent will be changed to white, and you can pick it and keep it for Settings and SystemUI), apply it, then tap on Accent color again and pick the top left accent, which will be actually changed to the color you’ve selected in the Personalize tab of the Installer.
• The base of the overlays is currently a dark theme! White or any too light background can’t be input in the personalization tab, because it would end up making all the foreground elements, which are themed to be white or light grey, to get barely visible or invisible.
• Any too dark, or too light (including pure white) accent, can’t be input in the personalization tab. Explanations below:
- It can’t be too dark because the accent ends up being the foreground text color or icon tint color in many cases, and it would become barely visible or invisible.
- It can’t be too light because the accent color ends up being the background to foreground elements (both texts and icons) that are white or light grey, and it would render them barely visible or invisible.
• Beta versions of the apps and beta software are NOT supported. Please avoid reporting issues when using any betas. The overlays are based on stable releases and it is only expectable to have issues when trying to apply the theme on beta software. This is however different for apps that have a separate release channel for betas and for which we provide an overlay, which are for example Chrome Beta and Samsung Internet Beta. The fact those apps have overlays does NOT make a rule about beta apps being supported. The fact a beta version may work or may have worked before it got an update does NOT make a rule about beta apps being supported.
Full changelogs are available in the app, from the 3-dot menu!
Love the colours!
Well done mate. ?

[MAGISK][MOD] AOD, Lockscreen weather and other mods for OOS Pie Stable

Disclaimer
Code:
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war,
or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research
if you have any concerns about features included in this module
before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
As someone who have used AOSP-based ROMs before, I just like how AOSP looks in general so I've made a mod to change some visual aspects of OxygenOS to match those of AOSP. You can see the feature list below.
Features
- Added weather information to the lockscreen
- Replaced OnePlus Ambient Display with AOSP Ambient Display
- Animated transition when switching between lockscreen and always on
- Replaced "Clear all" button in the notification drawer with AOSP style
- Added wallpaper tint in notification drawer background
- Added AOSP style lockscreen charging indicator including charging time estimation
Requirements
- OxygenOS 9.0.3 / OB16
- Magisk 17.1 or later
Known issues
- If lockscreen weather doesn't work on first boot, try placing the "At A Glance" widget from the Google App on your home screen.
- As this mod replaces OnePlus Ambient Display with the AOSP version, some screen-off gesture won't work.
- This mod uses OMS overlays to change some settings, but due to a bug in OxygenOS, some devices may experience bootloops after uninstalling the module. You'll have to flash a zip to fix it.
- Pixel 3 wallpapers needs to be recompiled with OxygenOS framework in order for it to show on ambient display. You can either do that yourself or download my recompiled version here.

Will this mod be for an open beta?
Thanks, don't understand why OnePlus is doing these changes to their OxygenOS...

- OxygenOS 9.0 Stable release
- Magisk 17.1 or later
Known issues
- If lockscreen weather doesn't work on first boot, try placing the "At A Glance" widget from the Google App on your home screen.
- As this mod replaces OnePlus Ambient Display with the AOSP version, some screen-off gesture won't work.
- This mod uses OMS overlays to change some settings, but due to a bug in OxygenOS, some devices may experience bootloops after uninstalling the module. You'll have to flash a zip to fix it.

It's from Pixel 3. You can find the apk on xda front page.

safetynet pass not responding after flashing this mod.
Is not possible to port the lockscreen weather to AOSP Roms too?
Everything is working excellent bro..... Thanks for this!
Can't download the bootloop fix but alternatively, you can remove the '/data/resource-cache/overlays.list' until the flashable zip is uploaded again.
It gives me Error 410 Gone.
This can be done in TWRP by mounting Data partition and going to advance, file manager and then that directory and rename the file to overlays.bak (to keep as a backup in case there is still bootloop)
Only thing is that the brightness of the OAD depends on system brightness. So if is all the way up it'll be really bright.
Very nice mod!! Bravo
Is there pixel burn in prevention built in?

Yeah, just this problem..if you lock it on direct sunlight or bright outdoor enviroment, it will be too bright all time.. maybe also dangerous for burn in..

I have noticed that too. After this mod, hidden apps like banking and googlepay act crazy, opening very slow, dont load up fully just hangs, if i go to recent menu, app is not there.. so i tried to remove mod, but ended up in bootloop and on that time we didnt had fix, so i was forced to do clean install again
Does after uninstall this mod safety net goes back to passing ?
Also does anybody else noticed that safety net is tripped after this mod?

Yeah! After uninstalling this mod with bootloop fix safety net pass OK. At this moment this mod is very dangerous for users. I had bootloop without theard and bootloop.zip and I lost all my data. Even full restore of nandroid backup didnt. Help. I was forced to use MSM TOOL and do clear flash

Seems like this mod have leftover from mac os:ds_store in system/priv-app. So i just removed that file from zip and flashed it. Safety net is passing and my banking app is working normal.
This method i found from some user that i dont remember name but this was on oneplus camera mod m, it also was trippin safety net, so that user removed those files from zip and it worked. So you can try as well. I used mixplorer, so it can open zip just in simple touch. So u dont need to extract it and repack it later.

But here is still problem with uninstalling. I tried to install this mod via magisk manager and some mods are uninstalled after reboot. Do you install it via manager or just in custom recovery ?

Enable Flip to Shhh on Pixel devices (possibly more?)

I figured out how to reliably/permanently enable the "Flip to Shhh" feature from the Pixel 3, it works fine on my Pixel 2 XL and I made a Magisk module out of it.
Credits also go to https://www.xda-developers.com/digital-wellbeing-flip-to-silence-google-pixel-2 for pointing out the feature is located in Digital Wellbeing.
Note: after installing this module, you need to go to Settings -> Apps and *uninstall* updates to Digital Wellbeing. That's needed because the app in /data/app overrides the one in /system that the module replaces.

Thanks man, that is what i was searching for good job

Works perfectly. Thanks
So if I understand this correctly, we shouldn't update the app through the play store after installing the module?

That's correct, I'll try to keep the modded app updated anyway.

Hey,
I think this module doesn't work on Android Q. Can you update the same.
Thanks, I love you for this!
edit: Actually, didn't notice this is for Pixel 2 XL, I have the regular Pixel 2. When installing the module and uninstalling updates from Digital Wellbeing the app just disappears on me when I reboot.
edit 2: Appears the modded APK doesn't install on the regular Pixel 2. If you could be so kind to port this over to the Pixel 2 that would be awsome!

Same here with the latest Pix3lfy Module. 2.9.1 was working fine... Don't have a Backup anymore
My Module enables the Flip function anyways...

That's really interesting, could you get digital wellbeing from the play store and post the latest apk here? I assume digital wellbeing isn't the same for all devices, as weird as that is...
(You're using Pie, right? I'd be surprised if this worked on Q)

According to the devs on github Pix3lify doesn't actually enable it, it only enables the menu (by manually enabling the activity). The feature doesn't actually work if you try it. Sadly patching the apk or changing your device to the Pixel 3 in build.prop is necessary (the latter causes issues with the camera though, so I'd not advise to do it).

I'm using it now and since almost 4 Weeks without Problems... Even Call Screening worked. Only Bug is the Portrait Mode in the Camera since WE don't have a Dual Camera on the Front (Compared the Media Profiles). Call Screening isn't included in my Patch since it really needs a Tricky way to enable it. Pix3lfy is focused on that and i don't want to Copy them...

They change the build.prop to the Pixel 3 then I guess. This module avoids having to spoof the Pixel 3 and getting the issue you described, but it replaces the apk

Hmm, it's indeed the same apk, are you using stock? Can you see if (without the module enabled) you see a /system/priv-app/WellbeingPrebuilt/WellbeingPrebuilt.apk?
Assuming those are both true, this might be an occurrence of this Magisk module corruption bug in case you aren't on 18.2 Canary: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...systemless-t3432382/post79077130#post79077130 (which would end up truncating the Wellbeing apk, making it invalid).
(To be sure, uninstall the module, update to 18.2 Canary, and reinstall it).
If this doesn't work, I can only think that for whatever reason your phone is verifying signatures of apks in the /system partition. This shouldn't happen and several other modules like YT Vanced exploit this (and I tested this mod to work without signature check patches), but in case the above fails, this module patches out signature checks:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/504024533125300224/538394292121763860/signaturepatches.zip (note: the module has to be uninstalled before any Android update and reinstalled after the update).

So I got your module to work on my Pixel 2. Seems like there was either a bug with Magisk + user error involved in me not getting it to work.

I was able to find the directory you mentioned. Even when removing the module, installing canary, and rebooting I still couldn't get your module to work. After upgrading to canary and rebooting what appeared to be Wellbeing dependencies started to crash on start up. Very annoying. I also couldn't open Wellbeing as it seemed to have been corrupted. What I did to get your module to work was uninstalling Digital Wellbeing + manually deleting the /system/priv-app/WellbeingPrebuilt directory, rebooting, and then installing your module in Magisk Canary and then rebooting. Now I have flip to shhh on my Pixel 2.
What I do find weird is that the Play Store hasn't given me the option to update Wellbeing but that's OK with me. Only thing I need it for is flip to shhh.
