PRE-ALPHA
Ok flash at your own risk, backup and take a backup of said backup before flashing!
1). Coming from stock you will need to format DATA due to encryption changes. Yes, that means fully, and yes you will lose anything on internal storage so back it up!
2). Tell me about issues and what's broken but don't expect an immediate fix. If you can't live with it (or even better provide a fix) until I get around to looking at it then restore your stock backup for the time being and come back later.
3). If you have an issue, make sure it's reproducible on a clean flash+gapps without additional modifications (apps+magisk etc) before reporting it. I'll request logs from a clean build if I can't reproduce the problem before looking into anything!
4). Have fun.

Yep there was a typo, fixed that and the phone successfully rebooted. The problem is the home button and the recents isnt working and also only one swipe down from notification is possible i am not able to view the extra quicktiles. And also when the phone 1st rebooted i was directly taken into a kitkatisque launcher without any initial phone setup process or anything(is that intentional ?) and Also i am not able to add any google account

Do I need s off to flash this and what is the recommended recovery?
Tried to flash using the newest TWRP 2.6.3.4 and failed. I'll try CWM later.
Does anyone know if there will be themechooser support like in pre kitkat versions? Or do we have to use xtheme engine?
The latest CWM touch flashes just fine, first boot works also.

You can change it manually. It's in the build.prop. Just download root browser and browse to /system and scroll all the way down.

Unlock device sliding on hardware keys
Hello everybody!
I installed all 4.4 slimroms versions, but I can't find anymore the option for device unlocking sliding on hardware keys (back, logo, home).
I don't know if this possibility of programming these keys is moved in another place of Settings menu, or it's not implemented yet (are you planning to add it again?).
Thanks in advance

Question for the guys using this currently: How laggy is the UI compared to slim5? Which features do you miss from slim5?
Josue I got a few questions 1. Is possible to use layers with this week build ? As I know the day and night is in beta stages I don't want to messed up
2. Did you add any optimizations to the ROM cause is running amazingly:good:
I have been a fan of Slim Roms for a few years now. I had N7 Preview on my N9 and when I discovered Slim6, I had to try it out.
Smoother than stock, no lag, seamless. Very impressed.
Will try on my 2013 N7 as soos as I replace motherboard. Donation sent.

Layers is currently broken on Slim since we use are using a modified aapt. You can use layer for most things. But using it on frameworks-res, systemUI and possibly Settings might cause loop. Aosp dark mode is labeled as experimental, not because it can cause instabilities because we are still hunting down a few UI elements that are off .
PS: If you use dark mode you should layer Gmail app.

[ROM][N6][NRD90U] Useless Nougat

I just can't wait for Google to upload an official Nougat image for our beloved Shamu, so I compiled this from the source.
V4 Flashable ZIP: https://mega.nz/#!qkpBHQwY!9fWIu36NCDtP4NXnTnWE_FblWlk9vrwNtDE13eJbocA
Obligatory screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/cXrnH
Working
As Shamu is a supported device, most things work well here:
Booting
Cellular (Calling, SMS and data)
Audio
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth
GApps (see below)
Easter egg
Not working (?)
Not working on Verizon, as reported here
There are probably more
GApps
This build has dm-verity enabled. With the stock kernel, GApps will not show up, or a warning is displayed when booting. To solve this, either use a custom kernel or use FED-Patcher.
After installing OpenGApps, you may encounter force closes during the Setup Wizard.
replica102 said:
You can just skip setup without editing the build.prop. Just tap on the four corners of the screen, starting from top left, clockwise. Do it right, and you'll get sent to home screen.
Click to collapse
Afterwards, to get rid of the Play Services force closes, go to Settings > Apps > Three dot menu > Show system and find Google Play Services. Enter the Permissions menu and grant all the permission it needs.
If apps requiring WebView force close, try excluding "WebviewGoogle" using the gapps-config config file. Details are available here.

This build was compiled on a modified tree. See the changelog for details.

And as said, I haven't changed the source in any way. Kernel source is available at https://android.googlesource.com/device/moto/shamu-kernel/+/android-7.0.0_r1
Edit: Wow, didn't look too closely. That's the prebuilt kernel, and the corresponding source hasn't been uploaded yet.

Real question is, is this installed through factory recovery or can it be used through TWRP... Deff just tried TWRP and no success. will try flashing back to normal.

Installing via TWRP will show a couple of warnings about the missing "log" function, but should still succeed nevertheless.

Just curious why you're calling it "useless"?
Have you tested it at all, and if so, what works and what doesn't work?
Iirc, at the very minimum, you need to symlink vendor to system to get cellular connectivity working.
*edit*
Here is more info regarding the need for symlinking:

Thank you. Cellular connectivity is working, and the vendor blobs are present in the build. The exclamation mark on the screenshots are due to Google servers being blocked in China (which you can fix by changing the captive_portal_server global setting, in case if you are in the affected regions).
The reason I call it "useless" is that Google will likely get the official images out very soon, and this build will quickly become obsolete.
I will update the original post to include the test results.
Noob Question:
Where can I get the GApps file for this build?
Thanks!

Congrats Flinny this is awesome. I saw it in the alpha area under the M8 on the SlimRom webpage. I'm downloading now and can't wait to flash and test. Sweetness!
I've actually been running this as my Daily for the last 5 days... the idea being I'd be able to hammer on m9 till it worked... but I've not had much time yet

Going to test it now! Thank you for this rom! I couldn't use cm 14.1 because of a canadian sim card bootloop issue, hopefully this rom doesn't have the same problem
---------- Post added at 05:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 PM ----------
Well unfortunately upon booting up with this rom, right when my sim card is recognized, the phone reboots and then goes into a boot loop (much like in cm14.1). Only way to stop this is to pull out my sim card from my phone. My logcat is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzKUEuxMtLAweGpxbzNMRzBFVTQ/view?usp=sharing

E PhoneInterfaceManager: [PhoneIntfMgr] getIccId: No UICC
Is the error that is jumping out at me but a radio log might shed more light on the problem. If you can logcat -b radio and message me the link personally I'll take a look.

Does it matter if I type that with my sim card out of the phone? Since my phone will bootloop with the sim inside. Unless you want me to type that in adb right when it bootloops like what I did with the logcat I linked you?

Only thing I have noticed is setting the back button (long press) to kill app doesn't work. Workaround.. Added additional button to kill app. Thanks Slim for the best rom available for Android!
to anyone using this rom, is the home button animation on this rom from the pixel? and is there the pixel blue ui on it?
actually if you guys go to settings>navigation bar settings and try to change the color slimSettings crashes . is there some way i could remove the weird white highlight when i press the nav bar?
I found three bugs:
1. stock gallery doesnt remove photos saved on sd card. I mean, it look like did but after reboot photos back. Optional gallery apps works fine.
2. Problem with sound on headphones. When I listen music and sound interrupt with another sound like notificatnion, keyboard sound etc. weird thing happend to sound level (going lover or higher). In silence or vibrations nothing happen.
3. Hot spot via Wi-Fi doesnt work.
@Flinny

Great work!!
I'm still on android 6, no access to a PC at moment, is there any way to get it to flash with old firmware or to update to n without a PC? I tried flashing the Ice N rom then clean flash slim 7 but obviously that didn't work.
I did a search but couldn't find the answer.
You'd have to edit the updater script to disable the firmware version check, that and not having tested it at all on the old firmware. I'd suggest waiting until you have access to a PC

How would I go about editing the "updater script"? Is it something I could do with a good file manager on the phone? I'm more than happy to have a play about.
I do have a search before asking things like this.
You'd need to edit the file updater-script in a text editor and remove the assert line for sl1b (or was it slb1 I'm doing this from memory as also not got access to a PC at the moment.)

This is from the second post,
I have built this and only ever used this on a phone with the N firmware installed.
IT WILL FAIL TO FLASH IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE N FIRMWARE INSTALLED.
I updated just the sbl1 ? with 0PJAIMG so I still have wifi calling with viper ROM and flashed this as a secondary ROM ?

Why not just have a try? Delete the line that has "sbl1" in the updater script and it'll flash.
