Spigen ultra hybrid vs liquid crystal - Samsung Galaxy S9 Accessories

I have ordered the s9 + in lilac purple and I can't decide which case would be better as I want to show the colour but still have good protection and not add bulk.
I had the ultra before on my s8 and found it a bit bulky and took away the slim slick look to the phone. Not had the liquid crystal before is it slimmer? Does it give it protection?

Spigen has been my go to brand for covers for a while. I just got the S9 yesterday, and decided for the Tech 21 clear one at the T-Mobile store. A bit more expensive, but seems to be a good option.

I have had the Spigen liquid crystal on my last 3 phones. Galaxy s7, s8, and now S9. Had excellent luck with them. Thin, cheap, cool looking, protect well. Can't beat it for 15 bucks.

Ultra hybrid :good:
Wanted more protection and didn’t like the bubbles in the corners of the clear liquid crystal.

Tech 21 is good but overpriced specially at tmo. Made the mistake a couple yrs ago with an iPhone and got that. When switched to sammy again chose spigen and never looked back. Rocking a tough armor now.

I used the ultra hybrid on my S7 and dropped that puppy so many times without any damage to the phone. I even tripped on cement stairs and fell on my butt with the phone in my pocket and the phone was fine! The case had a huge gouge in it, however.
I just received the ultra hybrid today for my s9 and it fits and looks amazing. Buuuut...I'm still scared. This phone seems so delicate. Ugh. But it's a dream to use.
Sidenote: I left the TMO store with the tech 21 Evo check case just so it didn't go naked until the Spigen arrived. I really do like the tech case, it's super sturdy with good cushion around the sides but the TPU back seems so flimsy in comparison. I don't want to find out the hard way which one works better. Haha.

The ultra hybrid will work with screen protectors like the Whitestone Dome glass. The liquid crystal isn't compatible

i just got the Spigen Air Skin (link) and it is awesome!! It does not even look like there is a case on the phone. My only complaint is that the buttons are a little tougher to feel since the case is about as thick as the buttons are tall. But after a couple days with it, i am totally used to it.
now...i doubt this case has much in the way of drop protection...but it definitely covers everything but the front glass...which is what i wanted. now i don't have to be so gentle when setting my phone down. I also like the idea of keeping the black metal from getting scratched up.

Do you guys like this case?

This is a ballistic rubber-like case I bought at a store a while back. I also have a neo hybrid case. I like the feel free of this case a lot. It has a good grip and good protection. I like the looks except for the back. It has these little dots on the inside that help it grip the phone but I think it might look bad?

I hate cases But the S4 wouldnt survive anything without it That case u got is hugee... i prefer ultra thin... offcourse that case will give ur phone propper protection if it fall down
Yeah, it's pretty big and the corners are well protected. So, you don't think it looks cheap or anything?

The issue I've found with GS4 cases, is a lot of them have very small openings for the headphone jack. I've struggled to find a case that offers a reasonable amount of protection, a slim profile, and a nice opening for the headphone jack.
Not a fan of the corners - but, hey - to each thier own!
That looks gooey .
that's nice:highfive:
I HATE CASES.. big cases at that, but I actually got the commuter otter box case.. best investment
I put an Otterbox Defender on everything. My tablet even has one. On my S3 I had a Zagg Invishield on it because I was using the Mophie Battery Case. I had an Otterbox Defender for that phone too but didn't use it much. Only used it when I went to areas of high risk like a racetrack maybe but always carried the Mophie Case.
I just got my s4 today, I ordered an UAG case. I had one for my s3 and loved it. Very snug, perfect cutouts(both placement and size) and it is only one piece for ease of removal. The rubber corners are made it off a material that has just enough grip in your hand, but doesn't get lint from your pocket. I'm a carpenter and a bit rough with stuff, it's very durable. Bounced it many times off concrete floors.
looks wack. i got a spigen slim armor in slate for my black s4 and it looks sooo good.
Phone Case
I just picked up the S4 the other day and was not into any of the cases the phone vendor had in stock. They had Otter and a couple others, the Otter boxes seemed excellent but I couldn't get by the lunch box size of the final assembly. Anyway I tried several not really liking any, so I looked on line and found one made by Elementcase that seemed to be what I was looking for. It arrived over night and did indeed prove to be what I was looking for. A nice design, light and slim with a machined bezel and kick stand.
Nice case!
Actually not a bad looking case at all

looks nice...
Actually looks good and like it easy to hold on to.
Post a pick of the empty case if you would and where you got it.
Thx
Thanks guys. I rotate between that case and my spigen neo hybrid. I love the looks of the neo hybrid so much but this rubber one stays much cleaner.
I'll post a picture of the case off the phone when I get home in a bit. I bought it at AT&T and it's called ballistic something. Verizon store didn't have any cases and after I bought the phone I wanted a temporary case until I ordered the neo hybrid.

I originally had a big ole body glove case from the vzw store. Recently got the Ringke Fusion and really like it. Nice and thin, looks nice and has space in all the openings for all my various usb plugs and headphones.
Cases
I just got my Neo Hybrid a few days ago and really love it.....just enough to keep it in your hands well without adding much bulk.

Samsung [VIDEO] Galaxy Note 3 – Incipio DualPro Shine Case Review

This is the 4th Incipio DualPro Shine case that I've owned in the last year. Incipio has been quick to market and this case actually made it to AT&T stores before it even made it to their own website. At the time of this video, I could not find it listed anywhere. As you can see in the video, I have the same case for the LG Optimus G Pro. Not shown were the ones for the Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
The case is solid and fits perfectly in the mid level protection class. These cases usually retail for around $35 and this one is no exception. For most people, you'll never need more than mid level protection. It should get you through most drops. Corner, front, or back...
Many of these cases have started to come with screen protectors, but there was none present here. In general, I don't like the plastic style protectors they tend to include. However, since the device is new and not many stores had their ZAGG products yet, it would have been nice to put something on the screen to get me through the first week of ownership.
So, who might buy this case? If you want something that looks nice in public and will give you piece of mind for those days when you're a little clumsy, go for this product. Keep in mind that if you place it on its back, the aluminum will get scratches. There's probably not much that you can do about that. In the video, you can see what a few months of normal use does to the case. The case does make the Note 3 a little bigger. TPU cases provide a little less protection, however they would keep the overall dimensions down a little. Speck might make a case that has a couple of layers molded together. UAG already has one and the Spigen Slim Armor always seems to live up to its name. That would be a happy medium between TPU and true dual layer.

How does this case compare to the Spigen neo hybrid? I have one pre-ordered that's supposed to ship tomorrow but this seems to offer a bit more protection. I'm considering cancelling my pre-order, especially if I can pick this up in person at an AT&T store. Thanks

The only Spigen Neo Hybrid I've ever had my hands on was actually a fake. I bet the "soft" layer is made out of the same material the Slim Armor's though, and I have had one of those for a GS4. Despite the fact that I don't do drop tests, my guess is that the Incipio's inner layer can absorb more impact. It's silicone and thicker.
If your goal is to keep the device slim and add protection, go for the Neo Hybrid. Need more protection in a package that doesn't look ugly either, the DualPro Shine isn't bad.
I am going to pick up a glass screen protector from Spigen. I also want to grab the UAG case.

Thanks for the info, now just to decide by tonight whether to cancel my neo hybrid pre-order. Hmm
Too bad Incipio couldn't beat Spigen to Amazon with their cases, as I really wanted an Incipio DualPro Silicrylic (non-shine version).
Just bought this case . its ok but expensive for the quality. The reason I am returning it is because it does charge in my note 2 dock but wont go into dock mode. took it out of the case and it went into dock mode. Its probably not going down far enough.
I bought the Incipio Dual Pro Shine at the AT&T store on Sunday and thought It was pretty nice. Then my Spigen Sgp Bounce came in the mail on Monday and it made the Incipio look clunky by comparison so I returned it. The Bounce barely adds anything to the size of the Note 3 yet I still feel like it's well protected.
Still no frustrations with the Incipio. I know there will be other dual layers that are slimmer and offer adequate protection though.
I'd like to get a Spigen Glas, but most of their cases seem to be on the lower end of mid level protection. I purchased a Slim Armor for my Galaxy S4 which my girl uses now and no one has touched that case.
Incipio Note 3 Case
I like the Incipio Note 3 Case. BUT I noticed the my signal is weak. When the case is on it shows 4g. BUT in the same area with case off its LTE.
I also have an iPhone 5 and next to the Note 3 its LTE. In the same area Note 3 is 4G with case on. Take case off and LTE same as iPhone 5. I will be trying out Spigen Slim Armour next.
Nice case - BAD RECEPTION
The one big design flaw with the DualPro Shine I am seeing is it dramatically cuts down the Note 3's signal reception. I am quantifying about a 20-30% decrease in signal reception after having installed the case. Too bad. It's going back while I still can. I do love the case though.
Absolutely do not buy this case. I bought it with my phone and found that it was blocking 2-3 bars of signal strength. I actually tried to return my phone because I was only getting 1 bar of signal at my house where as my old phone was getting 4. The phone was only getting 3 bars of signal inside the AT&T store with the case on and the store has a repeater in the back. As soon as I pulled the phone out of the case it jumped up to full signal. I bought a new case and now I am back up to 4 bars at my house. This case obviously has a design flaw in the material they use that causes it to block signal.

Anyone have any of the SUPCASE Cases

Anyone have any of the SUPCASE Cases?
I am looking at the
Unicorn Beetle Premium Hybrid Protective Case (Frost Clear/Gray)
http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-LG-G3...TF8&qid=1407151419&sr=8-7&keywords=lg+g3+case
Unicorn Beetle PRO Series Full-body Hybrid Protective Case
http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Case-...TF8&qid=1407161034&sr=1-4&keywords=lg+g3+case
I have the Spigen Slim Armor now but its too slippery and the back scratches easily.
The bigger cut outs of the back buttons on the SUPCASE look like they would be better then how the SlimArmor is setup.
Can any provide any pictures of theres and how they like it? Or if they bought one but ended up not liking it and getting something else?
I received the first one you mention on Friday (clear/black) and I love it.
The fit is tight and the cut outs are perfect. It keeps the phone pretty slim and looks great with the clear back.
I had a similar case for my galaxy s4 from poetic and it was just a great look for me.
If you're rough with your phone and it gets banged around alot or dropped alot, then this might not be for you.
It offers average protection, which is good for me 90% of the time as I work in an office or I'm in my car.
For slightly better protection I bought the verus iron shield which I should be receiving today and am very excited about.
It also looks great and will protect my g3 a little better on the weekends.
Anyway, I do highly recommend the supcase after a few short days and the price is pretty good too.
As far as pics, the ones on amazon do it justice.
Hope this helps. There are many good cases and you won't do wrong with any of them.

Thanks for the input.I was looking at the Versus Thor case also but some reviews said it affects signal. And the back button cut out on is tight like on the slim armor and that kinda bothers me..The supcase button cuts are larger which i think would be better
I'll let you know about the verus as I'll have it this afternoon.
I read the same about signal but I also read in more places that it wasn't true.
The video reviews on youtube really sold it for me an hopefully I like it as much as I think I will.
Take it easy.

I have the first one and agree with bkrickels.
I might prefer something a little thinner, but this certainly isn't bulky. No complaints on the back buttons with this.
Definitely no issue with signal. I can keep a call up every time driving on this one road that my GS3 dropped the call on every time.
I do hope Qi works through this case. I'll probably know that next week when my sticker comes.

Back button complaint was on the Verus Case and my slim armor..signal issues was geared towards reviews on the Verus case
I got the Unicorn Beetle and so far I like it. It has a good feel in your hands but it does add some bulk to the rear of the phone. It is a somewhat thick case and does add some mm onto the phone and weight.
I forget how much it does so until I remove the case and feel how light and thin the G3 actually is.
It does offer some great protection and this case WILL NOT bounce or fall apart during a fall or impact. The G3 fits impressively nice and snug in its case.
It is a PITA to remove the phone though, this thing is practically cemented in but once you know how to get it off, but just doesn't take as long but still is hard to do so.
It does come with a built in screen protector but I didn't need it because I had a tempered glass one installed. So I removed it and then had to spend half an hour removing all the glue that was holding it in place. The damn protector just pops out and leaves ALL its glue and adhesive on the inside of the front section of the case.
I used Goo Gone, thinner, hot water and soap and I still had to scrub it off. What a PITA...
But, I need a rough and tumble case for my job and the Unicorn does it.
Just be forewarned, it does add a bit of bulk and weight to the phone but it feels good holding it and! It has its corners notched off, giving it a Galactica prop like effect.

Thanks for the info..This Unicorn Beetle PRO Serie is case I am leaning towards..On my past phones Glaxay Nexus and Note 2 i used Otterbox defender and Seidio cases. So I would assume this adds about the same bulk.
Do you have any pics of the phone in the case or side by side to how much bulk it does add?
Also curious if the back scratches easy or holds up well.
I have a glass protector also so id be removing the bultin one
Ordered the Verus Thor from Amazon and I ended up sending it back. To me, it wasn't slim. It added some bulk to it. I have the Seidio Surface and I love it. Minimal bulk and still keeps near its original form factor.
i have the one with the clear back and i had it on my m8 and it is one of the best cases out there.
I just got my G3 on Friday and the first thing I did was go on Amazon and order the Clear/Black Supcase and temepered glass screen protector. They really make the best slim TPU style case. Nice and tight fitting, never had to worry about the material stretching on your like other TPU style cases. If there is a Supcase for my device im running it plus tempered glass and im good! Can't go wrong with it.
Not concerned with the case keeping a slim design..I'd rather have protection over looks
Using a Supcase, black with black.
Slim and works fine with my tempered screen protector.

I'm rocking the Hybrid Case and love it. I've been an exclusive Spigen customer for years but their case had that cutout which turned me away. This Supcase has the same protection level and looks just as good. The clear back keeps the phones sharp look too. Highly recommend!
I have the first one in gray/clear on my white G3. Looks good. Good protection. Have to agree on earlier post that it is difficult to remove phone from.
Did you look ringke max case? For me is perfect one
i bought both!
i love the frost one and the bigger when when i plan to go outdoors (camping, hiking)
but the slimmer frost one is my daily.
I have one but found the straight edges make it a little uncomfortable to hold. I've gone back to the ultra slim gel case from eBay for about 2.99 feels great and noticeably lighter.
i have the slim sup case.
I like how tight fit it is, even though sides are soft, because fit is so tight, it doesn't move at all. really good case
i don't like how the back is so slippery.
try the Digtronic one too.. I'm tempted to order that one as a backup case.
I have the first case you posted in clear with Gray edges. It looks great on my white phone. My only complaint is that the cut outs on the bottom are uncomfortable. When I am playing with my phone for a while. They irritate my pinkie.

Spigen Slim Armor Case Review

So I recently just bought the Sprint Lg G3 and I loved it. I felt very insecure using my phone bare naked and didn't feel comfortable putting it in my pocket in fear of scratching the back or the screen. Within days of having this phone, I have already scratched the back battery plate cover (very minimal though).
So I went ahead and bought the Spigen Slim Armor case along with the iCarez tempered Glass Screen Protector. Both go well with each other.
-Spigen Slim Armor Case: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JQI2LNQ/ref=twister_B00M8RXZ64?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
-iCarez Tempered Glass Screen Protector: http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Scratch-Bubble-free-Fingerprint-Protector-Replacement/dp/B00KGSW734/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1420355354&sr=1-1&keywords=icarez+lg+g3
I have loved both products since I received them. The Spigen armor fits on so well with all the right cutouts (perfect). It doesn't make the phone that fat honestly. The iCarez screen protector is amazing as well. It comes off very easily if you peal the edge with your fingernail which helps when applying the screen. I would highly recommend the iCarez tempered glass screen protector to all G3 owners out there. The quality of the glass is amazing and feels just as amazing as the original screen. It has all the right cutouts and is very easy to install with no problems with air bubbles (but be careful of dirt under the screen).
I'd highly recommend the Spigen Slim Armor to anyone looking for a case.
This is the second phone I have had using a Spigen Slim Armor case with (Samsung GS4 was the first) and I agree with IamFlynn. The case is very nice, great fit, great quality, and it makes the device just slightly fatter than without. It feels like a very expensive case once it is on the phone. As soon as I got the phone, before I left the Sprint store, it was already on. I haven't taken it off much since it feels so good on the phone.

I've had 2 slim armor cases (N5 and this one) and they have both been extremely slippery. So much so that it has actually caused me to drop the phone in times when I normally wouldn't. As for drop protection, I can say this case on my G3 isn't the greatest. It slipped out of my hand once and hit asphalt. The first bounce seemed to do a good amount of protection, but the phone came out of the case and landed separately from the case. I've since gone with a different one with more texture, but this is a slick looking case indeed.
i love this case but i have to agree that it is a little slippery. One thing that really bugs me although i highly doubt that they considered it when designing the case is that i cannot prop it up on something unless the angle is just right because of the hard plastic it just slips. I like to watch netflix when im cooking or what ever and getting this thing to sit upright is chore. But ive had the case since day one and in every other way i love it.

OMG! Me too! haha. My old case for my Epic 4g Touch had a rubber case and allowed me to because of grip but this case just doesn't but I still love it!
I've had the gold case since November and the back gets really scratched up just from being in my pocket.

I'm starting to notice that as well, it stinks but I'm okay with it for now.
I've only had mine since the week before Christmas and mine is all scratched too. Love the case though. Really compliments the phone.
I've had this case for a few months and love it! I've several phones and cases over the years and this is by far my favorite. It forms extremely well to the phone and it isn't too big or bulky.
Per what others have said, mine has a few scratches but that's what cases are for. Just means it's doing it's job LOL

After the comments on here and a typical YouTube research I ordered the Ultra Hybrid case. Looking forward to it. I've had the tempered glass for it and I strongly recommend it to anyone that has a G3

best rugged case?

i do construction and just got the note 8 . looking for the best heavy duty/rugged case
i wanted the otterbox but read really bad things about it so i dont think ill get that
i . was looking at the spiegen tough armor its pretty cheap looks good and seems good
any suggestions?
So Here is my 2 cents.... The Tough Armor is a great choice BUT... only works well with a small number of CASE FRIENDLY screen protectors.... I am currently rocking the SAMSUNG BRANDED RUGGED CASE and I LOVE IT! Tough Armor will probably provide a little better DROP PROTECTION ( I'm guessing because of the 2 layered protection) but the Samsung seems tough enough and works with a FULL SCREEN PROTECTION FILM PROTECTOR, and LOOKS GREAT TO ME.
Ghostek Nautical... hands down thee best. I've dropped this thing from atleast 15 feet up and not even a scratch on the bumper! Also waterproof to 20 foot down.
I have the Urban Armor Gear Monarch, I like this over the Ghostek, a little more $$ but definitely worth it. I have a case friendly screen protector film on it too.
Second on the Urban Armor Gear it's a great case from my experience from them. I however am rocking a clear Spigen case.
Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro
It is a very good price and good feeling.
Protects and feels better than the otterbox, lasts longer than the otterbox, protects better than the otterbox, has a belt clip, has a screen protector unlike the otterbox, WAY less money than the $70 otterbox, Wireless charging and NFC work through it, It is decently slim and easy to fit in mounts.
I have this case and have dropped my phone 9+ times and it sounded very soft when it dropped so it was good protection apparently
Around $7 to $12.
