Thanks in advance for any help please provide links if possible. So I've finally stopped waiting for Nokia and then Nokia/Microsoft to get their act together and jumped on the android wagon. It seems android has everything I'm looking for (sync to outlook, office document viewing editing, etc not Garmin yet though).
Anyway I've been doing research on the Samsung galaxy s2 and found some discussion on the 3G modem/antenna being penta band. Is this true? If so can I get links, also how do you enable all the bands? Or can you enable those bands that pertain to the firmware and have to keep the other bands on the phone so if you need them you can flash.
Side question I played with a korean S2 and saw that it has NFC on the apps (out of the box). I'm pretty sure this is true but I'm having some doubts as the FAQ and some other forum member claim that no current S2 has this feature.

It's quad band 3G. 850/900/1900/2100. It does not do 1700.

As for NFC, the I9100 does not have it. I'm not sure if any of the other Asian models (different model numbers too) have it or not.
I heard that the modem intel x626 gold is penta band (unconfirmed) that is in the galaxy s2. Also the tmobile version is coming out which has 1700mhz this might lead me to believe that it is penta band in hardware and only needs software.
Only the korean version of the s2 has NFC.
No other version has it as cell phone providers are thinking of releasing it attached to the sim card as soon as the technology has stabilized and is widely available in a number of countries.

the sd card sounds like a good idea as a aftermarket part but I thought I saw the SGS2 with NFC on ebay as the I9101. what would happen if I had to add extra memory to the phone?

It is one of the most in depth that I have seen but here is what he says about the SGS2 being penta band.
"XG-626 is compatible with more bands, however the limiting factor always is whether the device manufacturer has provided the power amps for those other bands, and in this case there aren't more."
I've read that the AT&T version of the SGSII (Skyrocket) and Galaxy Note can be flashed with the Tmo SGSII modem and work. Does anyone know if this can be done on the international SGSII (GT-I9100)?
I have this, and was on AT&T, but now on T-Mobile. I still love this phone and want to use it on Tmo on their HSPA+ network.
I've searched, and nothing has come up. I wonder how much hardware parts these variants share with the "original".

No. The GT-I9100 physically lacks the capability to receive one of the two necessary bands for AWS to receive high speed data on T-mobile USA's network.
The reason it works with the Skyrocket and the Note is because those two phones DO have the capability to receive both bands for AWS. (1700 and 2100 mhz UMTS)
Had made the same thread in the S8+ forums when I had that phone, however I upgraded to the N8 and have made the same thread here since it helped a lot of people in the S8 forum.

Small correction: XEH stands for Hungarian unlocked only, Vodafone, Telenor and T-Mobile all have their own CSC codes (VDH, PAN and TMH, respectively - PAN because Telenor used to be Pannon GSM Hungary).
Am i correct that in the US, the carrier variants and even the unlocked version are all identical hardware with the same bands supported and it's just the software is different?

Yeah, I saw the carrier switching guide. I was just confused as someone mentioned that the hardware was all the same so the band support is the same except the carrier might have their own bloatware but the page below seems to indicate that the unlocked US and US Carriers is different when it came to band support. Can I get the Verizon version and have all the bands enabled or do I have to get the unlocked US version?

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that I get the right one so when I travel outside the U.S., it will support everything. Am I correct that the only difference might be some may have bootloaders that won't be unlocked while others might when it came to carrier variants?

Well actually, Samsung locked everyone out so it doesn't really matter which variant you have, both the N950U (carrier variants) and N950U1 (unlocked variants) have locked bootloaders.
All of them should work fine outside the US when roaming, wouldn't really recommend it if you live outside the US though.
Yeah, I meant I thought some bootloaders would become unlocked later, I just know the Verizon one never seems to get unlocked compared to T-Mobile for example even with other brands of phones. If I had a choice, I would get the 128GB model which is available outside the U.S. except I don't know if it supports all the U.S. bands. Just wished Samsung was like Apple when it came to band support like the unlocked SIM free which seems to have support for all bands except for Japan when it came to 4G LTE as without the proper support, it will roam but be in 3G for data instead of 4G. With that said, just looked at the chart you provided and it seems like the SM-N9500 would be ideal for the 128GB or 256GB internal storage except it is missing the following bands which is on the US models:

4G (LTE): B13, B17, B18, B29, B30, B66, B252, B255
So it seems it is actually the US model that has more band support while the China model has more internal storage.

That is correct. Chinese variant and Korean variants have the most storage options while the rest of the world is left with 64GB only.

However, it looks like now that people have the 256GB Note 8's in their hands, many have proved that the Korean variant does indeed have 1700MHz / Band 4 to work 100% on T-Mobile....ie... Full support of all the Bands. (Less the 600Mhz, which is only available on the LG V30 as the first phone so far to feature the new frequency. That's for another topic...
Can those of you who have the 256GB model on T-Mobile, confirm how it's working along with some screen shots of speedtests etc?...

Looking at the 4G Specs here:

It appears it does support both 1700MHz and 2100MHz frequencies, though it doesn't specify band 66. It states it supports these:
LTE Cat16 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28)
TD-LTE 1900/2300/2500/2600 (Bands 38,39,40,41)

If you want to reliably verify what bands a Samsung device has my advice to you would be to go to the Samsung website located in the regionn or country that the device is sold in.
Then navigate to the N8 on that website and check the specs.
I've learned never to trust what those third party websites state. Especially frequency check.

B66 is not important for most people on Tmo USA. Google it & see if it's even available in your area. B66 is an extension of B4 & currently not available in a lot of areas. B71 will probably be more of a difference but Note 8s don't support it anyway.
Generally B4, B12, & B2 is what will be primarily used. N950F supports B66 but I've never seen my phone connect to B66 anywhere around me.
Hello, I have a fairly difficult technicaly question regarding the Samsung S10 Lite. I recently purchased the S10 Lite (SM-G770U1 )and I am currently residing in Japan. To my surprise, I have learned that almost all carriers do not support the model that I have (listed above).
I have managed to find one carrier that I think might support the phone, but I am unsure whether the Frequency bands of my model are the ones listed by the carrier.
The bands that are supported in Japan are the 3G Band 1 (2100MHz) or 4G Band 1 (2100MHz) frequency.
Please let me know if these are supported by SM-G770U1 Model. Thank you so much in advance!
