Replying to message in app whilst watching a video - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

In the keynote one of the feature they talked about is when you get a message whilst watching a video you can now drag the message down and reply without stopping the video. I can't seem to get this to work does it work for anyone else?

Doesn't seem to work on all notifications.

Turn on edge lighting and enable it for notifications on all supporting apps. When you get a notification on one of those apps, the edge will light up and a little pop-up will appear at the top of the screen. Drag the pop up down (don't tap it) and the little window will open.

[Q] How to hide "learn about tilt" message in internet browser?

Every time I open the web browser, it appears a pop-up window with a "learn about tilt" message. I've searched in google, in the settings and in the manual, but can't find anything about it.
It doesn't disappear after doing the tilt movement in any web.
Does anyone know how to hide this annoying message?
In this popup, you have a box to tick, so it doesn't show again (I think, because I just had it once !)

Yeah... I didn't realise that I could scroll down in that message.
Thanks.
Regards.
You're welcome
That's probably because you were using it in landscape mode^^ I think that in portrait mode you don't have to scroll to see it

[REF] -IN PROGRESS- Things the manual should have told you

Hey all!
The below information is for STOCK devices (or ROM's that are Stock and not using a custom launcher)
This is a Work In Progress, so if you have any tips that you found should have been in a manual, please feel free to post these and I will add them to the OP.
I just got my note yesterday and had to Google to find things that SHOULD have been covered in a manual or quick reference that wasn't.
Please keep in mind that this is my FIRST Samnsung phone (always been an HTC guy) so I am new to Samsung+Android+Touch Wiz and am guessing that I am not the only one.

Change Lock Screen Wallpaper:
1. Press the menu button then go to settings
2. Click Display
3. Click Screen Display
4. Under Lock Screen you will find an option for Wallpaper
Screen Capture Without the S Pen (Thanks kimtyson)
You can screen capture without the S Pen by placing your right hand perpendicular to the right side of the screen (in a karate chop position) and sweeping left. If you are left-handed, you can use your left hand in the same manner, sweeping left to right.
Change Brightness (Thanks Boris Sidis)
Long press the notification bar and drag left or right to change brightness.
Reserved...
One more for giggles.
Those are pretty standard among android phones...My addition for the note would be using your palm or side of hand to take a picture.

True to a point. Those that have had Samsung phones and know how to use and navigate Touch Wiz, probably. But I know several folks that jumped ship from HTC to Samsung and we're all new and learning.
Thanks for the input though!
Could you go into more detail as to what you mean by using my Palm or side of my hand to take a pic so I can add it?
Thanks!
I thought this was going to be like the tips and tricks from the International forum but oh man was I wrong...
Atleast someone is getting a start on it right..

I don't know if you realize he was just making a sincere suggestion. If you "karate chop" it you get a screen cap.

Holding down on the notification bar and swiping for brightness will only work if you don't have auto brightness enabled. You can also take a screenshot by pressing Home and Power at the same time. I find that easier than karate chopping my phone.
This is normally presented to people when they set up their phones, but just in case someone skipped it, if you hold down the side button on the S-pen and double tap the screen, it opens up an s-memo over whatever app you're in so you can jot a quick note. There is also an option for this during phone calls.
EDIT: Here's a few other tricks that I haven't tested personally, but have heard from various sources:
1. If you are playing music and place your palm over the display, it quickly mutes the music.
2. While playing a video, tapping the power button will lock the display so it won't respond to touches. Pressing again will disable.
3. If you have motion activation enabled in your settings, when the phone rings you can flip it over to silence the ringtone.
4. Swiping a contact's name to the left in your contact list will quick-create a new message to them. Swiping to the right will call them.
Heres another, if you swype your fist accrpss the screen it takes a screenshot
Edit:nvm

Wish this worked without CheeseWhiz, odd it matters as the notification bar is framework, not launcher, but I couldn't make it work. Then again, I rarely managed to make the same function work in Cyanogen 7 either..
EDIT: Oops, yeah I'm an idiot, I had Automatic on, it works fine regardless of launcher.

Already off.
It is the "Smart Connect" application that launches an application called "view".
SC can trigger different events when the phone is placed in the magnetic dock. The default one being to start a slide-show of your stored photos.
With the phone in the dock you can slide from the top, select the view app (looks like a blue wavy thing) and hold down the slide-show and remove it.
Or launch SC and just turn off View completely with the blue switch at the top.

No, it's not. View is disabled in Smart Connect, so there is no Notification. As I said in the OP, even if I put an action in SmartConnect, this popup appears in addition...
Turning the view thing off completely using the switch at the top as described above worked for me.

Not for me, because as I said it's not SmartConnect doing it. View is already disabled.
Could you please try posting Screenshots for further assistance?

How do I disable multi window pop up view?

Not too often, but once in a while I accidentally minimize apps into pop up view. How do I disable that? I was digging through the settings and couldn't find it.
Please. Anyone!?
By reading the manual?

I don't think the guy knows how to disable it either, otherwise he would have posted it.
I've looked through the manual and you can't turn it off.

Yeah it's annoying me too, I've already minimized by accident a handful of times when I was trying to swipe down to get the notifications bar. If you find a setting let us know!
Very annoying
This is how it works... Don't know how you disable it though
So now you’ve mastered Multi Window mode, but there’s something else of note tangentially connected to that. Samsung included a cool feature from the Note 4 called Pop-up View that works with any app that supports Multi Window (and only those apps). Basically, you get a resizeable floating app window that you can move around the screen. You can even have more than one and minimize them to floating icons.
There are three ways to go about this: long press on an app in the multitasking UI, drag down from the top right corner when an app is open, or use the pop up button when you have an app in Multi Window mode.
You can arrange these floating windows however you want, drag content between them, and maximize them to full screen at any time.

I don't think you can disable it, unfortunately. I hope someone proves me wrong though.
I was looking for this too. As soon as i got the device I kept accidentally re-sizing windows.
How do you resize windows on the s6 edge? There should be a setting under device called multiwindow...I know my note 4 has it, but I can not find it on the newer lollipop device.

start from left or right top corner, quickly swipe down to the bottom of the other corner, like from top left to bottom right.
I found the new MultiWindow gesture pretty annoying. On my S6 every time I swept down on the notification bar using one hand I'd always create a floating window. On other Galaxy devices there is a Quick Toggle to turn the MultiWindow feature off/on. The ability to control the feature is still in the S6 however it is not exposed in the user interface. I wrote a small application that can either enable/disable MultiWindow or bring back the MultiWindow Quick Toggle. It was primarily written for the Galaxy S6 however it should work on most of the devices that include Samsung's MultiWindow. Look for " MultiWindow Toggle for Samsung" on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nerd.multiwindowtoggle
it worked!! Thanks a lot!

Worked perfectly on my G920V. Thanks!! I am amazed that Samsung hid the ability to disable this feature given how annoying and (seemingly) unnecessary it is with the new app switcher.
Worked brilliantly - thanks!
Simple
To disable it simply go to
Settings - (Device) Multi window - and disable Pop up view shortcut.
Tested on my Note 4 with android 5.0.1 stock
Ok you guys need to tap the soft key not push it because if you do you are going to get a split screen! Try it go on FB and then push and hold the left soft key and see what happens! My wife was doing the same thing!
There is a multi window toggle app for free in the app store
On my note 3: settings > display > multi window > (uncheck) pop-up view shortcut

Pop-up call

Hello!
Before Huawei I was a long time Galaxy user, and one feature that I really miss is the ability to be able to answer or reject calls from a call banner at the top of the screen, wich is very convenient when I have an app opened.
Can this be enabled on the mate 10 pro?
+1
