Try a different SIM card. Does it recognize it? Also, try the one it doesn't in a different phone

SIM card question

I am having txt msging issues and called VZW they said they are sending a new phone and new sim card. My question is can I try the new sim card with my existing phone first to see if that corrects the issue? I was wondering if I could try it on the old phone first to see if the issue is corrected and if not put the new sim card in the new phone they are sending.
Thanks
Good question as I was always told sim cards are tied to the phone but it being the same phone number it might work. Cant hurt to try it out.
NO they are NOT and you can SWITCH SIM CARDS on the FLY to DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS/PHONES.
The rep just doesn't know the engineering of the system.
You can even do it on VZW.Com.
Log into VZW.COM, go to switch phone.
Click on the old phone to kill (phone #), and it will be deactivated.
Now power down the old phone.
Now it will ask you for the IMEI# of the new phone.
Enter that.
Now it will ask you if you want a NEW VZW SIM card # attached to this new 4G device which will be pre-active in the systems and mailed to you or want to use a existing SIM card #.
Select existing.
It will ask you for the old SIM card # serial # (IMSI#).
Enter that (starts with 89).
That old SIM card has now switched profiles from a old 4g device to a new 4g device.
Activation is all done.
Now just move the SIM card from the old device to new device and boot.

[Q] New card - no sim

Hi there
I have HTC Mozart phone from 1 year. The phone is unlocked, unbranded.
I use our mobile operator (mtel).
But get new sim card (same mobile operator). When put new card- phone notify that no sim card inserted or invalid. When back old one- say no services (it is normal because it is stop from operator). When put other card - phone notify the same- no sim card inserted or invalid.
Is it possible old card lock my phone some way?
Any idea wtf?
Thank u all and sorry for my english.

It is possible for the operator to lock your phone trough the zune updates.
That's what happened to me. So if you have updated it that way its most likely that it has happened to you too.

Can't Call after Installing CM 13 on Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-i939

Hi,
I recently flashed CM 13 from 7-20-2016 onto a Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I939 and everything works great...except for calling. It shows "No SIM card" on the Settings. I tried several methods including:
Reinserting the SIM card
Cleaning the SIM card
Try the SIM card on another phone (without success)
Put a piece of paper on top of the SIM card to help connectivity
Use ADB to replace the nv_data.bin with nv_data.bak to (possibly) restore the old radio information
What can I do?
Thanks in advance

Gsm sim card as 4G slot can't be enabled

My honor 7 was bricked two weeks ago, i tried several ways to fix it and finally unbricked it with dc phoenix tool. it flashed an emui 2.0 which was never available to honor 7, then flash to B388 stable version(emui 4.0.3) for honor7. The MEID and serial number got lost, so i recoveryed them using hcu client.
now the problem is when i insert a china unicom/mobile sim card which use gsm 2g network, wcdma as 3g network, lte as 4g network, it can detect my sim card and use 2g network. everything seems fine. when i reboot, the sim slot it used will be set as 4g sim card slot, the sim card can be detected, but unable to enable it. reinsert the card back, the sim card cant be detected. but when i use another sim card slot, which is not set as 4g sim card slot, the sim can be enabled with 2g network, everything works fine. when i reboot it, the problem is the same.
now when i insert a china telecom sim card which use cdma as 2g, cdma2000 as 3g, lte as 4g, the card can be detected and setting it to 4g card slot is fine, evening rebooting it, it will still using 4g network. insert cdma card and gsm card, and set cdma card as 4g, everything working fine, both card can be used. but set gsm card as 4g, the sim cards wont be detected.
so now i can only use cdma card, but i don't have one. is there a way to fix it so gsm card can be used? is this baseband problem?
the phone has 2 iemi ids, they seems fine, i verified them on the web, and they are in correct form. but im not 100% sure they are the ids when i bought the phone. maybe flashing the firmware will change iemi just like it changed my meid and serial number? im not sure since i never record iemi numbers.
ps english is not my first language, so if i did not describe something clearly, please tell me.
