Switch Stable a Global Beta - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello
It’s the first that I will do this and I want to confirm.
I am in stable global. I want to test beta global. The phone is new. So I only need to download and apply the update (zip) in the updater Miui system then wipe and that’s all?
Will I lose the guarantee?
Thank you for the help.

Yes these are the only steps you need to perform.
Though xiaomi allows unlocking bootloader, still above methods will only kind of update the rom without unlocking bootloader. So your phone will still be under warranty.

This guide explains how to flash stock MIUI roms. You have a few options for root. You could flash a global or China beta/dev ROM which have an in built root which can be enabled. You could unlock your bootloader and install TWRP then install superSU. Or you could just try an app like KingRoot if you trust it enough.

I've done it with the China dev/beta rom and that is what's recommended. It may be possible on the new global dev but I'm not sure and so can only recommend the China dev/beta. Once unlocked you'll stay unlocked so you can flash whatever you want straight away after. Just make sure to backup/sync any data first as everything will get wiped when using the SP flash tool.

It was a simple and normal question. I don't bully you or anyone else here. It's better if i ask you before you brick your phone or something. But anyway, it's your phone and your choice.
Global dev rom works, I unlocked mine early this week. You will need to fill in the form for permission from Xiaomi hxxp://en.miui.com/unlock and wait for an activation code for your Mi account before you start. You'll also need that account on your phone. It absolutely will not work on Global Stable, trust me, I tried!
The Global Dev rom doesn't have root enabled, so you'll also have to install TWRP (from cofface) there is a good guide in this forum somewhere, then flash SuperSu from there. (the official version works just fine)

Thanks for confirming, I unlocked using the china dev rom and enabled the built-in root. I could then use flashfire to install cofface's TWRP recovery and did a wipe in TWRP to start afresh without root.

Bootloader can even be unlocked on Global stable now. Just did it successfully on 8.1.2.0. Next TWRP can be flashed via fastboot and last SuperSU in TWRP. All done.

No reason why it should not work on 8.1.3.0. Just look for the bootloader check in developer settings. If it's there and you can link your account you should be good to go. Always worth a try...
Latest Supersu is always available on Chainfire's website download.chainfire.eu. Flash via TWRP. It's not specific to A ROM or device.

I've never been angrier at a company than I am at Xiaomi

I live in Syria and all we have limited options for phones so I was very excited to learn that a xiaomi dealer started selling a couple of models one of them being the Redmi Note 3 specially with my 4 years old Nexus 5 battery almost dying so I payed 200$ to buy this phone which is A LOT of money here only because I noticed how much Roms and Mods it has and now after about 10 days of buying it I still get the error when trying to unlock the boot loader at 50% "Current account is different from the account info on the device" even after trying all the tutorials I found about turning gps and find my phone and locating the phone on the map and using the developer Rom still the same result.
I really really need root and having the phone without even the ability to root makes it unusable but selling the phone will lose me most of the price since the brand is unknown in my country so I have to sell for much less than what I bought for
I'm writing this just to ask the xda people is there ANY way at all to save me from selling the phone because I like it but I just can't be without root I'm willing to pay money just please any solution
if there's nothing I'll just sell and probably never buy a Xiaomi product again in my life I know Xiaomi doesn't care but I just had to say it because I'm so angry
You don't need root to have the opportunity to install custom roms all you need is unlocked bootloader. I guess you tried unlock bootloader by official method and it doesn't work for you, so try unofficial method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/method-miui-8-unlock-bootloader-twrp-t3529458 (with youtube video step by step)

Salam brother, im sorry for whats going on in syria...
You should unlock it unofficially, because i have been doing it too.
Have you flashed the developer rom from the updater app? (from the phone itself)
You first need to have this rom on the device in order to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe all your phone's data.
@mshtob You have to wait 7 days more after getting unlock permissions. Unofficial version have some flaws,do read more about it. I recommend you to go back locked bootloader after 1month then try unlocking official way. Also when unlocked unofficially, do cross check before flashing firmware as some firmwares lock device. It will create more problems for u.
Regards
Stop getting mad like an underage kid my friend, you just need to unlock your bootloader officially being in a official ROM and it works without problems because I didt it a lot of times in different versions with the official method.
If you don't like Xiaomi don't buy their phones. Also 200 dollars isn't a lot, you will pay a lot of stuff in your life. Phones are a need, not a toy to install custom roms. If you like to test ROMs and stuff I encourage you to test with your Nexus 5 or get another Nexus/Motorola.
I also have a Nexus 5 btw.
After unlock unofficially you have to delete EMMC appsboot. bin in firmware update folder in any miui rom with the help of RAR App from play store, which relock your phone. And use this patched twrp

[Q] Flashing Pixel ROM Redmi note 3

I am very keen to know about flashing ROMs
I am using Redmi note 3 SD 3G. I want to flash the pixel ROM for my device and I have the following doubts
1) Do I need to unlock my bootloader or without unlocking my bootloader I can directly flash TWRP?
2) If yes, then do I need a beta version of MIUI for unlocking my bootloader cause I have been trying since a very long time but it is stuck at 50%(I tried all the solutions).
Thanks a lot in advance
1. U have to unlock ur bootloader for flashing custom recovery .
2. it should be unlocked on any version but dev versions have more chance of unlocking than stable ones (especially china rom,s have high probability )
3 U can try unofficial bootloader unlocking but do it on ur own risk as it can hard brick ur device .

Wait for a few days or couple of weeks, that helped in my case. Update and try syncing your Mi account on your phone.
Follow the instructions here
http://en.miui.com/unlock/
If nothing works, follow this guide, just flash any ROM of your choice with TWRP.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/kate-guide-install-lineage-os-locked-t3546154
And if you want the Pixel experience, install PureNexus ROM, it is better.
Just flash lineageos with stock gapps. And then flash my universal pixelmod. It will give you full pixel experience. Nav bar not included yet. Will include it in future.

Need Info on Unlocking Bootloader, Custom Recovery, Rooting and Installing Custom ROM

I just brought a Redmi Note 4 Indian Snapdragon version (4/64 GB variant). I want to flash custom rom. But I just don't know the process to do that. Is it necessary to Unlockbootloader and root the device before flashing a custom rom?? If no then what is the purpose of unlocking boot loader?
And additionally I want to know that flashing custom recovery void the warranty of Redmi devices?
Thanks in advance

Unlocked bootloader is must and should if you wanna install custom recovery / rom.
There are guides about unlocking bootloader, check again and apply for permissions.
Nope, rooting, flashing custom recovery and unlocking bootloader doesn't void warranty on mi devices.

The flashing tool doesn't Unlock the boot loader. It Verify the device and failed at unlocking. I've tried various forum to unlock it. But nothing works. Tried to click "Add account to device" in developer options. It shows me an error 86012 (and some chinese text) What do I do now????

If bootloader is unlocked then older miui can be flashed using twrp. Then a facotry reset is required to get to homescren. I've done it myself, with global rom, downgraded from 11.0.4.0 to 10.0.3.8 (however now back to 11.0.4.0 again)
*Factory reset will delete internal storage too so backup everything before downgrade.

Thanks for the reply,
I found a topic for Poco F1, here on Xda, with some info about unlocking bootloader and installing TWRP and I managed to unlock the bootloader after many attempts.
So I unlocked the bootloader, but did NOT rooted the phone. Transfered TWRP with ADB minimal commands, but when I restart phone in recovery TWRP asks for password for decryption. It lets me cancel the screen with password, but when I try to wipe cache and data gives error for not having permission. So I abandoned this method.
I google it and found another way to install roms, thru MiFlash, the tool from Xiaomi website.
The question is: Can I flash Android 9 MIUI 11 Global stable version with MiFlash with succes?
I have now installed on my phone Android 10 MIUI 11 Global stable version...

I fiund different videos online but none for the poco f1 regarding the downgrade with stock rom with MiFlash. It said that it would work with all Xiaomi models, but I don't want to make something stupid, that's why I am asking in this community, maybe someone knows more info about it.
So what version of TWRP you use? Where I can find a working version of the ,,disable force encription.zip" for poco f1?
as far as I know MiFlash is one of the safest ways to flash stock miui for afresh new beginning.
I always use this when I run into any problem. (but u shud get as many experts opinions as possible)
Now coming to the point of "downgrading", I m gonna downgrade my device to check whether it bricks or not.

Once you've done that, format system and data. Then get twrp flashable miui 10 from here:
https://mi-globe.com/miui-firmware-rom-builder-features/78/
After flash, you need to format data to be able to get to homescreen. It works for me and i downgraded more than once from miui 11 (android 10) to miui 10

Thank you for the help, I wil try to do that and come with feedback. I supose i can install TWRP using minimal ADB commands like I did before, then try to flash the zip with the decryption data.
But you say you downgraded from miui 11 (android 10) to miui 10...is still viable for me to downgrade with this method from stock global version miui 11 (andoird 10) to stock miui 11 (android 9)??. I only have the bootloader unlocked, NOT rooted

While flashing I selected clean all+lock bootloader. After successful flashing and booting, I used "unlock tool" with MI login on the device+on the unlock tool and it didnt give me trouble (waiting period to unlock etc) to unlock again. So its pretty simple if u knw wht u r doing.
Happy flashing

You'll need fastboot commands to flash twrp.
Yes, I've downgraded from global to global. If using twrp, you need the rom in flashable zip format.
Can't see why bootloader can't be re-unlocked.

Yes, I've seen that roms for Twrp are in .zip format and the ones for XiaoMiFlash are .tgz format.

Yes, I will do that, check everything twice and don't rush. Everything should be properly done, step by step.
I still have a question.. if I have my microSd card in the phone while I flash a rom or wipe data it will affect it? I will loose the data on it? Should I get it out while doing the procedure?
Although I feel that it shudnt format sd card, I would simply remove sd card when wiping and insert it back when needed.:good:
I dnt wanna take chances.
Its upto u nw.:fingers-crossed:
