Poor wifi 5Ghz - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Good morning everyone.
Since I have redmi 5 plus I notice that the 5Ghz wifi at home does not work well ... I do not get almost coverage or network speed where before I had it to stop (with a OnePlus2).
Since I have the redmi 5 plus I have to be connected to the 2.4Ghz network if I want to have wifi at home ... It's the same? Is the problem of the rom? Or is it harware subject and I have to throw away warranty?
Say that it is a global version with band b20 and rom 9.2.13. 0 ... And now with Developer rom 8.1.15...
With the OnePlus2 and a redmi note 3 pro we have at home the 5Ghz wifi works perfectly ... It only gives problems the redmi 5 plus that has to be in the 2.4Ghz ...
Thank you all!

Redmi 5 plus global on MIUI 9.5.3.0 5Ghz WiFi without problems, but speed is Max 150Mbit even it should support ac standard. OnePlus 5 on the same router is on 866Mbit.

Hi! Yesterday I finally got a 5 GHz updated router from my fiber provider. The maximum connection speed is 150 mbps and it doesn't work well. If I go to the next room the connection drops suddenly. Not stable at all.
Sometimes I just get a slower connection but other times it disconnects and connects to the 2.4 GHz network.
FYI I'm running on Global Developer ROM 8.3.29.

Piss Poor Wifi and Data Signals All Of A Sudden

As the title suggests, all of a sudden my wifi and data signals are very weak, wifi being the most affected. If I'm not 15 ft from my router the phone is barely working over wifi. I have a galaxy s7 on the same network and it is not being affected by any slow speeds.
Any suggestions as to what is causing this poor signals all of a sudden?

No idea bro I'm having the same problem

Maybe it would be a good idea to post this in the Ressurection Remix thread then
Flash stock Rom. If problem persists it's hardware related.
Thanks I'll try that.

Clean up your network router
I struggled with the same problem off and on and I think I finally figured it out. In my research I discovered that routers cater to the weaker signals by boosting power to them and robbing it from other devices. I changed my network password on my wireless router and logged in with my laptop. I got screaming fast speeds where before I was getting nothing. Of course I was the only device logged on. I then went around the house and reconnected all of my devices to the network with the new password. With a family of five, we have nearly 20 devices connected at the same time. I still have blazing speeds. I also deactivated the "guest" account on the router. I suspect that a neighbor or one of the kids' friends was connected when they came over and the router was still connected when they went home, thus stretching the signal to reach them. Anyhow, I essentially "cleaned" my network of any old or stray devices and I am enjoying full speed access on all my devices that were constantly buffering or cutting out. It won't boost your signal but it should clean up how your signal is shared. Hope it helps.
Check ur firmware. It may be due to old modem

Wifi problems

Hi!
I noticed my honor 9 has some problems with the WiFi strength.
I have an honor 8 all, so I compared with it.
First of all wifi when is 2,4ghz is too slow (other phones speedtest does 77mb, honor 9 45mb max).
Second: my router has the automatic 5ghz switch.
At the same distance with the honor 8 from the router, the honor 9 switch to 2,4ghz (with the problem of the speed said above) and the honor 8 stay to 5ghz.
Can someone help me with this issue or say if your H9 have the same problem?
What's firmwares are yours honor 8 and 9 for your tests ?
Both oreo, latest builds ?
Oreo 368 (C432) in the Honor 9 (but it was the same with B180) and Nougat B407 for h8.
And in the same place a Huawei GT3 (LOL) wil 2,4ghz made 77Mb vs 42 of the Honor 8 and 9 with 2,4ghz
Unfortunately I have the same issue, to solve this I usually turn off the wifi and then I turn it on again. That should fix your problem. Sometimes, when I had my wifi on when I was away from the router and got closer I could only get the 2,4ghz signal and I'd get around 50mb of download speed, but when I do that it changes to the 5ghz signal and I'm able to get 180-200mb
Yeah the problem is that H9 switch off the 5ghz so easily, H8 instead, keeps it also of is farther.

Yeah, I also face that same issue and unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it... My iPad is able to stay connected to the main router at 5ghz in almost every place of my house, however my Honor 9 is only able to get 5ghz in a some places near the router. I fixed this by installing some more routers throughout the house, but it's never the same as using the main unit, as of the 2 additional routers I have only one of them is connected through cable. I hope Honor fixes this in a future update, as ever since I got the phone I've been having this issue (I got it a little after it was released, so I used Android 7 for around 6 months)

Slow wifi connection

Hey guys so, maybe its just the modem used in the XT slow , im comming from a Xiaomi MI8 SE. I also tested my connection with a xiaomi note 7 and it was about 8 mbps (I have a 50mpbs adsl) and on the Realme XT its like 3.
Did anyone see similar slow wifi connections?

Honor 10 only connects to 5Ghz wifi after boot, then only connects to 2.4Ghz

Hi everyone,
I have recently installed a Unify AP in the house. This AP allows me to see what devices are connected and at what speed. I noticed that my Honor 10 seems to be always connected to 2.4Ghz band and not to 5Ghz. I tried restarting the phone, after which the Honor 10 did connect to 5 Ghz, so I know it is capable of doing so. However, when I walk around the house, it switches back to 2.4 Ghz.
I understand that 2.4Ghz has a longer range, but when I am close to the AP, it would be nice to have 5Ghz connection.
Does anyone have the same issue or knows how to fix it?
I never had problems with 2.4 / 5gHz in honor 10. Are they showed as two Wi-Fi access points? Maybe the production of EMUI did not put much effort into Wi-Fi networks at different frequencies... If they're 2 separate Wi-Fi points you should be able to select one and connect. But I guess constantly switching from 2.4 to 5 without user interaction It could cause problems, e.g. delay in changing the network at an important moment
I guess for some reason it just prefers the 2.4 gHz

AP set to 5Ghz preferred
I set my AP to prefer the 5Ghz frequence. I do not have my wifi set as separate access points. They have the same SSID and passwords, but that should not matter.

Hi,
I recently installed a Unify AP network in the house and seeing the same issue. Honor 10 will connect to 5ghz if you choose a '5ghz only' SSID but if it's a dual SSID then the Honor 10 will always choose 2.4ghz. Other devices on the network don't have an issue and connect to 5ghz fine.
Did you ever figure out a solution?
Thanks

Wifi link speed is only 65 mbps. Please help

I have already unlocked, rooted and enabled wifi bonding for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and still my mi note 10 lite has 65 mbps link speed while other devices have 150 mbps. Any other fix?
Hi,
I have no solution to your problem but I have 300+ Mbit when sittting about 8 m from the router which is on another floor. Have not done anything to the phone.
I have a 500/100 line.
My connection is only 100mbps, and thats the speed im getting. Completely stock. Sure its not router fault or something?
Solved! Just factory reset my router and i get 150 mbps link speed and my full speed of my internet connection! It still needed to root again and enable wifi bonding to get more than 72 mbps because of update
Hello dear . i have found the same issue with wifi i figured redmi note 9s has 144mbps link speed while mi 10 lite has just 72 .. if you have found any soloution pleas let me know.

Unlock bootloader, root with the tutorial they have in xda without twrp and then just go to magisk manager and find the wifi bonding module.
