What should we do now that SABS is gone?

Well I still have it installed and running fine. What's the problem with yours?

Mine is also still installed but I can't use the app anymore cause I think Samsung banned my knox key
When I open it it will ask to activate the key
Can I make a new one or will they ban it again ?

does anyone have a list of what the standard package blocked?
does mmottis host still work?
when i add getaddhell standard and fanboys ultimate it blocks so much stuff i cant use half my apps (even if i shut off blocking in those apps)

I got an email not long ago that said the SDK is being discontinued and inviting me to something new. I also seen that they issues a DMCA takedown request to xda on the SABS thread. Guess they don't want you having so much control

I have it and it's still working but I guess it's dead because of Samsung =( I did not get a message or email about trying something new. I just found out about sabs and spent a good 10 hours getting it to install with using my old computer lol I want to know what is next so I can prepare. Just kind of funny, I finally got it working and then the very next day it's locked

Try Adhell 3

I'm using adhell3. Check reddit for instructions; a little more hassle now that the creator removed Knox libs.
Anyway, just curious, as long as you have the source and can compile with new package names and use your own block list, wouldn't it still work forever? Just re-generate a new knox key every 3 months, right?

New phone, need instructions
Worked great, then I had to replace my phone. Reinstalled and now it doesn't block anything. Wanted to run back through the instructions and now it has all been removed.
Can anyone help?

My SABS isn't blocking anything anymore? I'm using Steven Black hosts file. Any ideas?

[APP] Netflix from LG ROM Dump

http://www.androidcentral.com/leaked-lg-revolution-system-dump-has-netflix
I was able to login and browse/manage queue.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150 Modded apks. No need to edit build.prop. Worked on my NookColor.
Could be an interesting way to manage your que on the fly but until netflix fixes their standardization codec issues with android thats probably as far as we are going to get
It wouldn't let me watch anything. I got excited for a second. It said "sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. (1005)" I wonder if anyone has any idea's on how to fix this.

LOL me too! But it is one step closer. Now we have the apk....

Well, at least now I can manage my Queue without worrying about a third-party app stealing my credentials.

How did you install it? I tried installing it through Root Explorer on rooted stock and got a parsing error. Froyo and above only maybe?
Edit: Installed w/out issue using Root Explorer on my DROID. I can't believe there's still no Netflix queue management other than from 3rd party apps. Although once the streaming gets the "go" button, it'll be a slick app. I was given the option to resume an instant movie I was just watching on my Tivo but it started loading then took my back to the instant queue page.
The streaming failure has nothing to do with codecs. Netflix has a DRM protection implemented on the app that currently only supports a very limited amount of hand selected processors and firmware. In order to enable streaming were going to have crack the DRM. *braces for a long night*

Same here. Boy does this make me happy though knowing were close to being able, I hope. Been waiting for this app for so long. Dying to see how long ths takes.
Update, it looks like if we can get the lib files for the apk that seem to be missing, you can create a work around with a modified app.

You don't need a dual core......you "need" a chip with baked in DRM.....or patience to wait for someone to break the DRM.

Hey, np. Been wanting netflix fot some time myself, so I keep up on the state of things.
Here's the whole story(as I understand it). Netflix wasn't allowed to put out anything for android or any linux, due to lack of integrated DRM. The new chips that are coming out have a DRM scheme baked in at the hardware level.
What this means for us...gonna have to wait for someone to create a method to lie to the app, telling it that the DRM is present. Also, there will need to be a software based replacement for the DRM module, for decoding the stream.
You would think they would give up on DRM. If they can make it, someone will break it.

Technically the release worked, but Netflix killed it at their end, so no other devices could use it. Once they turn it back on.... who knows.

Issue with replacement S2

I had to have my S2 replaced under warranty this week because of failure of the USB port. The replacement came with ICS 4.0.3 already installed. After a day of getting all my stuff moved over, rooting the phone, and re-installing all my apps today I went out and paired the phone with my 2012 Ram. My previous S2 has worked flawlessly with this vehicle since day one. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my Outlook contacts to sync to the phone via Hotmail Connector, only the Google ones. This had been working for me prior on rooted stock GB. The truck had no problem pairing, but doesn't want to dowload the phonebook for some reason so I can't use voice dial and incoming calls are not recognized. Is there enough difference between GB and ICS to have caused this? I don't want to go back to GB, but this is a deal breaker. I don't really see all that much improvement with ICS anyway. I need my phone to work as it was.:crying:
Test gb and see
Bleh
Instead of starting a whole new pointless thread, why not just downgrade and find out your self??

Dude you should have waited to get the replacement. The USB part for my phone just came in today and I just finished installing it. I'm charging up my phone now and will report back in your original thread on whether or not the charging indicator stays there after I unplug it. Replacing the chip was super easy, btw.
Edit: it wasn't your thread, but you posted in it. It's in the Q&A section.

Pointless thread? I don't want to downgrade, I wanted to find out if anyone else had seen an issue like this or had something better to reply with other than, "Flash back and see." Sorry if I took up space better used by another clueless newb asking how to revert to stock or how to flash his Skyrocket.
FYI, I finally got the Outlook/Hotmail sync working (I would tell you how, but since no one cares...). Now to see if I can get my phonebook to download to the truck. As for Lekerstein, I really didn't want to be messing with the USB connector when the phone is still in warranty. By getting a replacement I also now got another month added to my warranty and an updated phone, so I'm good. Hope yours works out for you.

Well seeing as the problem started on non GB then it would seem that ICS is the culprit

Yes and no. It appears that the original method that worked on GB for setting up MS Exchange sync of the phone with Outlook via Hotmail no longer works on ICS. I simply tried a different method and that was the charm that worked. The functionality is still there, it just takes a different setup method to get it to work.:good:

PSA: Verizon now has remote "desktop" capability

I'm not sure how long this has been going on but I was on a call to customer service last night trying to get the WatchESPN app running properly on my phone and the "tier 2" technician asked if it would be okay to take control of my phone. I've been in the IT field quite some time and I knew he was asking to remote into my phone (ala pcAnywhere.)
I gave him permission and quickly got a text message saying vdm (Verizon desktop manager?) was trying to connect. I'm rooted with Dubbsy's 4.2.2 GPE ROM and I was nervous about a Verizon rep snooping around my phone (warranty concern.) I'm not sure if it was the ROM or the fact that I was in a bad cell area, but he was never able to connect. We never did get the app to run properly either.
Just giving people a heads up about Verizon's (new???) capability; I've never had anyone ask me in over three years with the company. Careful rooted users, if they see you've rooted they may make a notation (with or without telling you) in your account and when you bring your phone in for service--it may get declined.
Pretty scary stuff. At least they can't get in unattended (we hope?)
I wonder which apk performs this. I'd like to freeze it.

Verizon remote diagnostics...or something similiar to that. I have seen it a couple of times.

It doesn't work in my builds because the only thing I keep from Verizon is their apns and service. They can keep the bloat and locked down updates. Especially their big brother program...

I did some research on this and, apparently, it's been around for about 18 months and you're both right:
Verizon Remote Diagnostics
Aetherpal teardown
Aetherpal can/does check for root access. There's two good things about this service. First, you can simply refuse the assistance from the customer support. Second, there's a terms of service you have to accept even if you gave permission for them to remote desktop. You can reject the ToS. I haven't had a TW ROM installed on my phone for a long time, so maybe someone else can post a screen of which .apk(s) they can freeze in TiBu.

XDA Malware

Not sure what is going on, but I've noticed that whenever I visit XDA my browser will automatically start downloading PDFs
Specifically they are various chicken recipes and each file is about 500kb give or take. This will happen every time I visit XDA.
Has anyone else been experiencing this recently?

The bad thing is it auto downloads. I didn't even think that was possible on an android phone without some kind of prompt.
That is sketchy would full wipe then flash factory images and then get it ready for pn7 id est nougat radio, vendor, bootloader, twrp, etc all in your emmc.
This is scary. I use the XDA app almost exclusively so this never happens for me.
I agree that your first course of action should be to make a backup and do a full wipe of the phone, including the internal storage (make sure you move your backup and any other important files to your computer before you wipe)
I'll start using XDA in browser without AdBlock for a bit to see if I can get it to happen to me too. I'm extremely curious.

So, I went and talked to "Those Guys". What I have been given to understand that the issue is being looked at ever since it was reported in last day or two. Also the issue is going to be fixed here shortly. Please report back here if you do still see this. Also I am assuming this didn't happen due to accidentally clicking some ad. Is that right ?
To me, it appears to be limited to Mobile version of the site and not on PC.
