Back to stock RNE-L21C432 - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi!
I have a big problem to return to stock after trying the Elemental v. 1.1.
I have tried the full backup from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...other-development/oeminfo-collection-t3762385 but it says that it is rooted when I boot it.
I then tried: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...evelopment/stock-rom-rne-l21c185b142-t3764065 (I know it is the wrong localization, but I was desperate, sorry ) and this actually booted with no problem, no notice of being rooted BUT now I faced that the unit had been turned into a NEO-L21.
I thought that I could fix that with the first links change of OEM, but it would not work...what am I doing wrong?
And does anyone have a backup without root, or a way to fix it using the newly published Full-OTA that have started to come for our device?
Thanks in beforehand!

to remove the NEO-L21 phone settings.
you should restore the boot backup only.

I don't know what goes wrong, but it does not boot with this boot partition. Could it be because the NEO-L21 backup I restored is Android 6.0?

It's not Android 6.0. The info in "About Phone" is just wrong. You are on android 7.0. I would recommend you to do what I have done for myself.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...pilation-firmware-flasheables-huawei-t3761483
Follow the instruction in this topic which is:
(Remember to get the unlock code for bootloader before you flash anything !!)
1.Flash the OEM info from cust432 or whatever cust you want.
2.Unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP
3.Flash the firmware proper for your cust from the above topic and everything should work. I did this for my phone that was cust c738 before and it works like a charm now and I am on cust432. The only thing for me is that I can't do an OTA update to B133. I am on full stock without root, but I have unlocked BL. I tried to relock it to see if it changes anything but then my phone is stuck on bootloop.
So since I'm here can anyone tell me...Do I have to be on locked BL in order to perform an OTA update ?
If yes how do i relock it ? Because if i do "fastboot oem relock code" then my phone is stuck on bootloop....

We can't back to stock rom, since huawei not release online, we can go to customer service thay said.

[SOLVED] [Q] Bricked LG L9 P769, locked BL, JB, Rooted, LG Bootloop

Hey all,
I have a CWM backup of my current rom and have backups of apps and data but am stuck at a bootloop.
As I have read countless articles, it seems my error is because I have a locked bootloader(not actually sure). Though, I only tried to flash
clockcycle's wiped v20d cwm backup file. It failed part way saying it couldn't write to /system.
Since then, I haven't been able to fully enter CWM. just see the red triangle with the droid guy on his back.
I have read Cmahendra's unbricking guide but it doesn't work as I have installed JB and even the tips to unplug, wait 10s and reopen the program to flash again it still won't work. Still stops at 15% saying error connecting to the phone.
There is a similar thread which had this exact problem which said to
use the online method to recover your phone since I had already installed JB. I edited the hosts file to remove the fake offline server and opened up the b2CAppsetup.exe, clicked on customer support,
entered my model LGP769BK and my S/N and it began to start the process and 'analyze' then crashed and said "updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG mobile phone software Update"
I've tried to search this out myself and not waste any space but I'm at loss here. If anyone has any help, it would be much appreciated
as I don't have a phone while this is not working.
I've tried all the ways to to hard reset, master reset and still I get the droid guy on his back. I can get to S/w mode like all the other posts say to do but none of those fixes seem to work for me. Am I missing something?
Do I have any options here? I have kind of read that I should just unlock the bootloader but I don't think that applies in my case as I can't turn on my phone fully.
edit: for the online method(LG support tool), it basically cancels when it goes to the 'downloading' phase --> this is what I've seen as most of the answers but doesn't work
Upon further reading,
many seemed to need to replace their u-boot and x-loader
I did so and installed fastboot using Lelus' script here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41768774&postcount=1
I used option 6 which allowed me to flash the u-boot and x-loader from p760(works with my 769 and others as it says in the options) for JB
I'm not sure if I needed this as I don't have an unlocked bootloader.
I'm not sure of commands in fastboot but I ran
fastboot devices and it showed something
I also ran: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and I put one of my cwm backups in the "yours" folder
After I activate fastboot, it brings me to the C:\fastboot\yours folder
I assume this is for me to put my intended files in but I'm unsure if I should use my cwm backup or something else?
After it flashed the recovery img, I sent a fastboot reboot command
but it still went back to the droid lying down with a red triangle.
As some of you may see, I'm not too great with this but I feel like I'm close. Does anybody have an idea of what I should be doing?
should I flash an update.zip?
I don't know many commands but hopefully this gets me going in the right direction.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
I guess your cmw restore formatted your system but couldnt load the new system
the recovery you run with a locked bootloader uses a technique called 2nd init which i think is somewhere stored in the system partition. so when the recovery formatted the system, it lost itself too.
I've had a similar problem. the way out would be booting into the SW upgrade mode--switch off the device, remove the battery, remove the usb cable. press the volume up button and connect the phone to the computer. wait for a couple of seconds and then insert the battery.
you should be in the SW upgrade mode
now use the B2C client. if it gives an option to upgrade, use that otherwise, go to the customer support menu and press recovery phone
I have already done earlier. It may have gotten lost in my frenzy of information. I have put the phone into software mode, as you said, and it won't work either; There's no option to click upgrade because it's JB(V20D) and when I click recovery phone and enter my imei, LG mobile support tool(B2capp.exe) analyzes and then has a 'fatal error'
Since I flashed the new u-boot and x-loader my screens are all backwards/mirrored. Maybe the tool flashed an unlocked u-boot and x-loader if that's possible.
Is a recovery possible by fastboot?
I have a clean and full copy of my cwm recovery as well as apps and data backed up, I just need to get this phone in working order

If you fastboot flash the u-boot and x-loader from p769(ICS) it should go thru with the offline flash detailed in cmahendras guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
Use the KDZ_FW_UPD.zip from this thread
Or try this
Remove all of the stuff you have downloaded for this. Download the original B2C client from LG's site and use that

Thanks.I'll try this. if I have the ICS bootloader, does that mean I'll have to flash the V10G kdz? or can i do the v20d kdz

I have the updated kdz fw upd .zip from the unbrick and root thread as well as downloaded a new, official B2C client but they all still hang at the download part during phone recovery.
Tablechair, that did the trick.
Is this because the tool we use to flash for the offline method doesn't recognize the x and u-boot loaderse of JB?
After I installed the ICS boot loaders, my software upgrade mode wasn't mirrored anymore.
I did as tablechair and flashed the V20D.
Does anyone understand why this problem happened in the firstplace? Maybe I didn't get a full copy of clockcycle's backup cwm
or should I have not flashed his recovery in the first place since I didn't have an unlocked bootloader?
Again thank you for all your help and if anyone can provide answers to my other supplemental questions, that'd be great.
Off to root and probably unlock bootloader to be sure.
edit: I can't find the thanks button. but thank you very much tablechair. much appreciated. Hope this can help someone else
p.s. also big thanks to those who made the fastboot program for p769(Artas182x and sguerrini97). really an invaluable tool as I now know.

Things don't always go according to plan, maybe his Clockworkmod backup was made from the touch version and he didn't have artas182x second init recovery installed. So when the cwm failed the first time, did you try to restore your cwm backup?

Not yet. having problems flashing a kdz again. I've tried the 2 different software modes, as well as setting emerg and diag but still getting stuck at 15% again.
Do i have to replace my uboot and xloader with the ICS ones every time I want to use the offline flash method?
edit: yup, after replacing with ICS loaders again i'm able to flash using software upgrade. will update on whether I can restore cwm

I realized I misread your question. When I flashed before the incident, it failed to write to system and I didn't restore my other folder. I rebooted and it was all missed up. Anyway, now that I've got everything back and now with an unlocked bootloader, i was able to recover my old image. However, data isn't working so I have to find the radio to flash as I recall reading in other threads.
Can someone explain in laymen terms why this is? recap, i was on unlocked bl rooted jb and I flashed my old cwm backup when I was rooted but had a locked bl. My apps and messages were all there but the radio was different. I'd understand if I was going from ICS to JB but I was on JB both times. The only difference being a locked BL. It's got to be something about the Radio from p760 or V20B that didn't work on my earlier backup or something like that because the layout status bar is different with a "data" button and showing H instead of 4g(which are the same afaik).
Since, I restored to my backup from after my bootloader unlock and root so data is working showing 'H' with the different layout
Also, I had problems backing up and restoring until I noticed that it works better when I power off the phone and do the manual commands to enter recovery as opposed to using the app to send me to recovery(where I incurred /system backup errors).
My last question is which cwm recovery should I use? I currently have the one for a locked bootloader installed as per Artas182x's website. On that post he has a link for an unlocked bootloader recovery on the xda forums but that thread was updated to not working. Are there any disadvantages to me using a locked bootloader cwm recovery?
I don't think I have any option but to try it as I want to flash CM10.1 for p769. I also read that if your bootloader is unlocked, you can download the cwm from the googleplay. If this is true, can I just install over or should I uninstall the Artas182x locked bootloader one????
update: have to remove l9 recovery by deleting the appropriate system folders and then flash the appropriate .img through adb commands
Help.

Although I might be late, I have the same problem and the same phone and I really need help. I have a soft bricked phone lg optimus l9 and I had the same problems that you had exactly... Which is weird exept I don't have Clock Work Mod or anything ... If you get this I would really appreciate some help. Thanks
yup me too
I finally got software upgrade to work with my lg p769 that was security error cuz i still haven't unlocked the bootloader, if i knew what a good job lg and T-Mobile did in locking it i would have waited and got a g3 that my buddy rooted in like 5 min and unlocked the boot....
What worked for me is this LG FLASH TOOL 2014 THREAD ON XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
flashed both the 20H and 20D successfully i uninstalled everything lg in the control panel first though.
Hope this works for you cuz i was struggling on and off for a month to get this far lol
the 2014 tool ultimately worked for me too, once I fixed a couple things. I had rooted and forgotten to unlock, so it was at Security Error, and it would also disconnect at 15% .. in the 2014 tool, I had to install all the updates even though I'm in windows 7 or it would keep doing it. All good now.
I have been trying all these methods and I am still not able to get in the S/W upgrade mode. The only thing I am getting from the device is being able to put it fastboot mode (The inverted one). I really want to revive this phone

Hey, it's been ages since I have done any of this but IIRC, if you can get into fastbood mode u can still get into software mode,
- turn phone into fastboot mode
- open the software upgrader thing as you normally do
- maybe switch emerg to diag or something like that
- this part is where it's slightly different than the normal way(same program but u select a different option than the default 1st option on
I think if yoiu look through the tutorials it does mention an alternative method for getting into software mode
in one instance in my past, i had to reflash the ICS boot drivers so the software installer would recognize that
the flashing of the ICS boot drivers is done through fastboot. Should be a post in my history where I asked a question regarding this.
Sorry for the chaos but maybe this will help you get in the right direction since I don't know any of your phone history and what you've done etc
best of luck mate

Hey, I have been trying it with the fastboot but it keeps timing out and not allowing me to finish. One thing I should let you know is that, ever since I had put the device in fastboot, I am not able to get back the S/W upgrade mode. Dont know if that will help in seeing what my problem is or if you want me to explain everything from the beginning again, I am more than happy to.
Have you followed the steps that I linked to in the first 3 posts of this thread?
Follow the steps to flash the ICS bootloaders in fastboot and then you can do the fastboot trick for getting the software to recognize your device.
Right now your phone has the JB boot loader on it and is thus not recognized by the software.
recap:
step 1: flash the ICS bootloaders in fastboot (look at the linked thread in post 2)
step 2: use the software in emerg or diag mode but sitll follow the same steps as the tutorial. I think my earlier posts should explain precisely.
if you dont flash the ICS bootloaders, it won't be recognized by the KDZ installer

[Q] Installing CM-10.2 Android-4.3

Hey guys, I've rooted, installed CWM Recovery, Unlocked Bootloader, and installed CyanogenMod on another phone before.
The thing is, I've had this phone for about 6 months and wanted to do the same. However, after browsing through the forums, man are there a lot of scary sh*t going down. I would like the request the procedure to install CyanogenMod safely, without losing any Keys/IMEI/XReality/DRMkeys/Etcetera.
I dont know if the method given by FXP is supposed to be this straight forward, but I too like others, do not want to risk losing important stuff if it can be avoided (Keys/IMEI/XReality/DRMkeys/Etcetera).
HOWTO
Install instructions:
first time
- power off the phone:
- hold vol+ and plug usb to boot into fastboot (blu led)
- fastboot flash boot boot.img (from cm10 zip)
- fastboot reboot
- enter recovery, on boot led will be violet for 3'', during this period press vol+
- flash rom zip
- flash gapps zip
- wipe
- reboot
for update just flash rom zip from recovery
Google Apps are not included in this ROM. You'll need to find those yourself if you want them.

Frankly speaking, the forums is pretty much jumbled up, and the existing [Guide] Threads are either incomplete (Lacking important steps), or Unclear (Non-Specific steps).
Perhaps someone could do me a favour by using the template that I have below to help me, and possibly others, to install CM 10.2 on our beast of a phone.
Template:
1. Backup TA and DRMkeys and stuff: http://forum-xda-developers-com/backup
2. Root: http://forum-xda-developers-com/root
3. Recovery : http://forum-xda-developers-com/recovery
4: Unlock Bootloader: http://forum-xda-developers-com/ulbl
5: Install FXP's CM 10.2 :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2461286
Something like that would suffice I think, as long as no important steps are missing that would cause me to lose stuff unique to my phone, that cannot be recovered if I didn't back it up.
P.S. My version is 14.1.B.2.257
P.P.S. Thank you in advance.
1. Root
2. Backup TA (VERY IMPORTANT)
3. Install Recovery and unlock the bootloader, or the other way around. Both ways work.
4. Install ROM by following the "guide" that you quoted above.

I'm on 14.1.B.2.257, I believe reverting to the previous version causes data to be lost unless you back it up right. *Sighs* How troublesome.

you will have to back up the data anyways. I think unlocking the bootloader does a factory reset, as well one is needed going from stock to CM if i unforget correctly
I am also wondering about this. I'm currently running firmware .257.
I understand that I need to back up the TA partition first (though I'm not exactly sure on what I will loose if I don't). I also understand that to do this I need to root the stock rom. I understand that in order to root, I'll need to first downgrade to an earlier firmware using flashtool. However, after that I'm not so sure what I need to do. As far as I can see, the only method of gaining root currently is to use vRoot, which is currently under investigation for IMEI mining.
How else can I root the device? I was thinking of maybe using the recovery for locked bootloaders here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2426739
Following by flashing SuperSU from recovery as per usual.
Will this work, keeping the TA partition intact so that I can back it up before flashing CM? Assuming so, would I even need to downgrade from the .257 firmware at all?
Thanks,
i have CWM now so can flash custom roms like i did on other phones right?
what does unlocking the bootloader give me? unless i'm wrong and i have to unlock to flash?
all i've done so far is do a backup is all. (did a TA backup a while back though)

OK, so looking into this further, you already need to have root to be able to flash the "CWM for locked bootloader" rocovery. So as far as I can see, the only way to get root in order to back up the TA partition is to give your IMEI to the Chinese via vRoot?
Thank god the stock rom is so good.

You have to unlock the bootloader to flash custom ROMs. You can flash stock ROMs without unlocking it, but you have to unlock it if you want CM, PAC, PA etc.

really, so what would happen if i tried to flash an aosp rom now? would the system partition essentially be read only?
sorry for the Qs but haven't had a locked bootloader since the htc desire (although the s-off for that one was to remap the partitions to allow more room for data) and the reasons for unlocking don't seem to be the same.

Nothing will happen if you try it now. You can easily unlock the bootloader by going to Sony's Dev site, request your key and use Flashtool to unlock it. It takes a couple of minutes once you have Flashtool and the drivers installed. It's also perfectly safe to unlock it and you will lose your warranty. BUT you can easily relock it again if something happens to your ZU and the warrenty will be back.
Remember to backup your TA before you unlock your bootloader. It contains a lot if device info and your unique DRM keys. Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the system partition, but you will still have root, photos, music etc. (But do a backup of those just in case).

i think that's where i got confused with drivers - unlocking.
i have already done a backup of my TA part so that side of it is ok. i'll leave unlocking until there's a rom i want to try. possibly a complete 4.4 or something.

If you've already backed up your TA, it means that you have the drivers installed, so job done All you have to do is to install Flashtool and get your key from Sony (which you will get on your email straight away). Either way, just ask here if/when you want to unlock it so we can guide you through it (it's very easy though).
ran flashtool but gave me driver errors - missing. unable to install the drivers included (i guess due to windows 8 driver signing)

Boot loop, think I flashed an outdated boot version

I have an Xperia Z5 Compact with German T-Mobile factory ROM, which is not too much use to me coz I don't live in Germany or use T-Mobile. I wanted to flash a stock ROM with no bloatware. Root probably later, I'd like to use the phone a bit first. It isn't simlocked btw, and was OTA updated to Marshmallow before I tried anything.
So I unlocked the bootloader, then flashed the recovery and boot images from the first post here without noticing they are old versions and further down the thread they are updated. Now I can get into TWRP recovery, but when I try to start the phone normally it freezes on the pink T-Mobile splash screen. Recovering from my Nandroid backup doesn't help... coz I only created it from within TWRP after I did this flash.
I can't use Flashtool, it says USB debugging is turned off. I guess what I flashed before has reset that to off. I tried following the Lollipop instructions here to turn it back on using adb, but I can't pull the file mentioned there. Anyone got instructions for doing the same on Marshmallow please?
Not exactly panicking here, but I really wish I practiced on my old HTC Hero before jumping in blind....

use adb and flash androkernel to fix the incorrect kernel that you installed. you can do that by renaming it boot.img and sending the command fastboot flash boot boot.img
i haven't messed with androplus in a while but if you were on marshmallow i believe v34 will work and if you were on the absolute newest marshmallow i think its v35 off the top of my head.
fyi you dont need usb debugging on to use flashtool, you can get into fastboot mode with no rom at all installed.

WiFi - cant turn it on anymore - software switch returnes to "off" position

Hey guys:
I did unlock bootloader unload/root according to this guide.
First Wifi worked.
Then I did try to figure out OTA issues, could not uninstall Magisk, so temporary flashed stock image back.
From here on out - no matter, if stock, or Magisk_patched image: No chance to turn WiFi on.
In the WiFi-Menu, if I touch "turn on", it will show for one second: Turning Wi-Fi on", and then just return to the WiFi off-setting...
I did do factory reset from recovery - no success, flashed again (stock and patched) - no success.
I can't figure it out! Anybody an idea?
Are you sure that you are using correct boot.img version? It must be the same version as your system - build number and EU/GB variant must match.
Yes. I did, unless I had an older Version on a different slot and somehow did change slots and started messing around there. Could be an explanation.
Got tired of messing with it. Did download the whole stock rom, flashed it and will stay "unrooted" for now. Not worth the hassle to me.
BUT: What a mess that these manufacturers make it so hard to have working and rooted phone.
My guess would be that you flashed incorrect stock boot image.
Also how come that you couldn't uninstall Magisk?
Rooting is pretty straightforward, even if Mi A3 has a slight complication with missing "fastboot boot" command support, but otherwise it's nothing special. Take the correct boot.img, patch it, flash it and you're done.
First take your phone into fastboot mode. write fastboot set_active a .unzip stock rom and you will see flash_all.bat click it and you will succesfully have brand new rom with no issue. Note:If anything bad happens or goes wrong im not responsible. Its all your decision to do it

Magisk said: no backup. tht's why I did install the original boot.img back, and this is where the WiFi-issue started.
I wanted to go this route, but did not manage it after several hours, so gave up and went stock:

Yeah, you need to create first backup manually. The guide works perfectly, I tested all methods (otherwise I wouldn't mention them ). What issues did you have?
The system is probably installed in b partition, you need to set partition a as active and reinstall rom via mi flashtool

I don't want to install a rom i want to keep miui
At the beginning of the instructions there is a short description how to root.
So, I'm Kinda Confused "If you want to root then copy the stock boot from the latest stock rom into internal and use magisk to patch it, then flash the patched boot in bootloader (fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img)"
So i take the miui boot and flash it after i installed this rom and restore a backup without restoring the boot.img ?
and we don't get updates foing that (we don't get updates when we unlock bootloader but why ? ) I Guess we just gotta accept the L here

With unlocked bootloader and root you will still get OTA Updates with Miui, you just need to root again after installing the update.

You don't have to install custom ROM to get root. If you are currently on MIUI 11.0.10, you download that exact ROM, unpack it and copy boot.img to your phone. Then you install Magisk manager and use it to patch boot.img. You will get a patched boot.img which you flash in fastboot.
Ok, Is there a way to backup 'cause it says "Unlock will erase user data"
EDIT: OK I found a way to backup using MIAssistant
EDIT 2: MIAssistant is outdated any way to backup ?
I don't know. I didn't have anything important to backup.

Ok I found that you can local backup from settings but what I'm worried is losing my efs partition hope it goes right I have joyuse (9 pro)
I have 9s and all went fine.
However, I installed the custom ROM from that thread and root as well.
Now, I have to wait 168 hours (one week) to unlock
That's normal but annoying.
Yea BUT *sniff* BUT *sniff* *sniff* WHY
(ded meme)
EDIT:. BTW what does oem unlocking in developer setting mean ?
And thanks a lot man I couldn't have done this without you.
Enable it to be on the safe side when you apply for unlocking even though I don't think it's necessary for official Xiaomi unlocking. I think it's for unofficial unlocking 'oem-unlock go' which I don't think works.
Is there Twrp For joyuse (9 pro ?) i searched the fornm and i couldn't find it.
The Only One i could find was https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...nt/recovery-unofficial-pbrp-recovery-t4137753
And is this what you exactly mean ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../how-to-unlock-root-redmi-9-9s-9-pro-t4108913

Just transfer the files you want to backup from your phone to PC and later copy back. Apps, SMS, call log, wifi passwords etc. are backed up to your Google account (if you have enabled backup/restore), you can backup some extra stuff in MiCloud too (I don't use it, don't wanna give em my data lol, it's enough that google has it).
FYI local backup will get wiped after unlocking.
I'd recommend you stay away from TWRP because there is no official version and it's unstable. I've read reports of people bricking their devices and losing widevine L1 after installing it. Just use Xiaomi's recovery and fastboot because they're enough for both rooting and installing custom ROMs.
