Is there any way to force Full 18:9 screen on 16:9 app- on AOSP based rom? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Okay.
I really enjoy recent 8.1.0 treble roms on vince.
(thank you! devs!)
but there is one thing that I really hate that, some of apps on store that doesn't support 18:9 display.
MIUI has forced full screen options, but AOSP based(or LOS based) Rom seems doesn't have it.
Is there any way to make it to full screen?
(Not hide Nav bar or such a thing, I need to make it to 18:9 like MIUI does)

AOSP O doesn't have any options for optimize fullscreen apps on 18:9 screens yet. On further AOSP versions (starting with P) we can expect this kind of options

All AOSP-based 8.1 ROMs that I tried offered a forced fullscreen option. Just look for it in the settings. (On OmniROM it's found in the OmniGears settings menu, on others I don't know by heart. But it is there, somewhere.)

Resurrection remix has an option for that but it's not per app like in miui, it's for all apps.

Best custom rom??

I've been lingering around the forum and lineage seems to have broken more things recently. Please don't attack me i just read the last few pages.
And cr droid is having signal spoof.
Best recommended rom if any?
Lineage would also work i just want to confirm
Well, for the best possible performance with fewest bugs I suggest MIUI developer ROM.
If you want a non-MIUI ROM, I can suggest Syberia OS, or Pixel Experience. They are also good.
Ultimately, "best custom ROM" is completely subjective because everyone has different usage habits and therefore will have different requirements.
Learn to flash, get comfortable flashing, and try all the ROMs.

Been flashing for like 2 years. Not used to tons and tons of pages to read through but thanks for the response. Will try syberia.
My requirements are minimum bugs and good battery. I barely play games.
Will try.
Thanks
I've been using Pixel Experience as my daily driver for the month.
No complaints.

PE has the least number of features among all custom roms i tried and miui. eg:
1. No call recording possible in any way.
2. No option to turn on torch with power button when screen off.
3. No advanced restart options.
4. No network speed meter.
5. No ability to change fonts on the fly.
MIUI exclusive features (no custom ROM has these):
6. Native app lock.
7. Flawless native long/scrolling screenshot capability.
Lineage OS 16 exclusive feature:
8. Privacy guard (this feature alone is enough to justify selecting LOS over others)
Not all roms have all of the above features but PE is the only one which doesnt have ANY of them.
MIUI has the maximum number of above features.
hands down for Lineage 16 and Nitrogen OS

Yeah. Will try after syberia i guess. Thanks
Ouch - was pretty set on PE, but the lack of call recording, advanced restart and speed meter are big nonos.
My main concern with using the stock MIUI is privacy related - Xiaomi seems to collect far too much info.
PE is great if you want vanilla experience. If you like to tinker, tweak this and that, change the settings every two days then PE is not for you. Maybe NOS is the most stable right now.

Yes and read OP please.
This ROM is awesome. It is pretty stable too. The boot logo is not very appealing. I will keep using it. No bug so far.

I have found one issue, with the phone app. When I try to call someone it doesn't show the call being forwarded,so you can't end the call. And When I am called I can't pick up since there is no prompt for accepting or rejecting call. A problem with the Google dialer maybe.

The battery is pretty terrible, it cant charge while playing, it was draining while charhing so fast, i ofc did a clean install, camera app fails a lot as well, and you cant set every live wallpaper from pixel wallpaper changer it force closes.. i hope in the future you can fix these the rom felt smooth until i started playing games and noticed it wasnt charging while playing..
Hi Dev.
I wiped my data and installed your rom. Everything was perfect. But the galaxy wearable app was force closing.
Could you please help me to solve this problem.

Wait what XD. Never experienced this bug. Maybe a charging cable issue? Also, there are two cameras included. GCam isn't as stable as stock by a long shot, so use stock if GCam crashes too much.
Also abt Gear Wearable. Since I extensively debloated this ROM, it is possible I removed something that I shouldn't have. Not to worry, I will release an update next month (Not now because of exams)

Im back on my old 9.0 rom and everything is working just fine, i dont know what the issue was here, but ill check the update when its ready thanks!
Please add Adapt Sound feature if possible in a future build.
Fast, smooth and stable rom. But it has really bad battery usage. The older one(teampixel oreo) vas great at battery usage.
Also i can't find the "Power saving mode". There is no toggle in notification bar and i cant find a way to enable it in settings menu. Anyyone know is it possible to use Power saving mode on this rom?

Hello! The reason battery life was significantly better on Oreo was due to Oreo having a fully working Phantom Kernel! At this point, I'm just waiting for an update to that kernel, so that I can incorporate it, into the ROM, along with adapt sound, Dual Messenger, Gear 360 bug fix and Screen Write (Samsung Capture) since that it the only "useful" Note Feature that can't just be simply added back. I'll also be incorporating a few tweaks here and there to improve performance where possible! Keep an eye out for V1.1

Custom ROM with per-app notch control/disability and Expanded Display?

I just switched to the F1 recently and with it being my first phone that has a notched display, there has been some ups and downs with it. I like that with it I was getting a tiny bit of more screen real estate compared to having a full top chin, but at times (especially with landscape apps) I really wished it had been disabled and leave me with a normal screen instead
"Just disable it with Display Cutout - None" you say, sure that works but that's the whole point of what Im asking for - a custom ROM or anything that allow me to preconfigured what app to use which display cutout option. I'm definitely not using MIUI, and I know that there's an option in MIUI specifically for this purpose, but the same thing only available in custom ROM as options for Expanded Display, which isn't even available on all custom ROMs. There's LineageOS that I know of with this feature available, while currently Im using AOSiP and it's not
So anyone with familiarity or experience of using multiple custom ROMs, can I have any recommendation? This is purely on a feature standpoint and I care really little about performance or batterylife of those ROMs

This ROM has several bugs, the performance is good and the customization too, but the usb connection does not work well, you must enter the developer tools, the load does not work if it is off, its performance in games is fluid, although it gives lags, sometimes the notifications are bugged, it does not vibrate and To be a customized rom, the cfq profile only has 128 kbps, it should have 512 or 1024, the videos on instagram are seen in bad resolution. I don't know if it's because of the rom or the app, but they should include codecs or libraries that decode all the videos in hd for seize the screen
It is appreciated that it has in the settings menu a section to force apps in full screen, all the custom ROMs for lava and lancelot should incorporate this option, I tried the superiorOS ROM and it is good but it lacks that option and I also fell in love with the camera google that has those bugs with the usb that the pixel experience UI plus if I remember correctly it does not have that bug it should have a file manager and delete the AOD that is very annoying has a bug when configuring and you want to put another wallpaper
it closes and is not configured well, I love revenge, you should collaborate because it has a very cool ui interface and I don't remember if it has a Gcam like the one above but I think it is good, it should be included in the nezuko 1.2 maybe together with the manager of files in the main menu another thing that I realized is something of the hdcp I do not know how that works but nezuko does not include that option to modify apart I do not know which option works to see everything in HD

Hello! I am not the owner or creator of this custom rom, i am just a guy that shares the ROMs already made by different people
Have a nice evening!

Any other way to use MIUI EU rom specific application.

Hey guys good evening,
Hope you doing well,
I have a question for you guys. I just wanna know is there anyway to use MIUI rom -"camera, gallery and dialer apps"- in any other custom rom like awaken, pixel experience, evolution, havoc. I am asking this because I wanna use custom rom but i like miui camera, gallery and dialer application. I don't like any other camera, gallery and dialer. I hope everyone is understanding what I am trying to say.
- Camera because it has very good features and in custom rom some didn't work properly.
- Gallery app because it has photo editing option and we don't need to install other apps separately.
- Dialer because it has call recording option (specially automatically and without recording announcement)

I used a lot of AOSP roms on several Xiaomi and saw only 2 ports of MIUI camera with limited functions. (seems difficult to incorporate it perfectly).
You can use Gcam, ANX etc. which work relatively well or even better for certain models.
Some AOSP (vanilla version where you can choose the gapps or possibly delete the google dialer before flashing them) have the call recorder certainly with a more austere interface but a matter of taste.
