V30: Oreo, Always On Display and Media Controls - LG V30 Questions & Answers

After the Oreo update of my Open Market US998, most of the media apps I use stopped working with the controls on the AOD.
Some still work, namely LG's Music, Amazon Prime Music and Smart AudioBook Player of all things.
But the rest don't. Audible doesn't. Pandora doesn't. Neither do Google Play Music, iHeartRadio or ANY of the video players.
Except for one ancient player, I used to be able to control every one of them in the AOD in Nougat. But no more. And I can't figure out the why some can do it, and others can't, including Google's apps.
I did try reinstalling Audible. Didn't help. I assume the problem is with some apps explicitly supporting this feature, whereas others don't. But maybe I am missing something in the settings somewhere.
Is anybody else seeing the same thing?

Poweramp works with AOD on mine. No issues at all. Can skip for wtd and back and pause and resume without any problems.

I just installed Poweramp to test it, and it works for me, too. But not Audible and the rest of those on my list.

Seems restricted to music...
All of my "Music" apps seem to work with the AOD and Floating Bar (Rocket Player, Google Play Music, Neutron, YT Music, LG Music (of course), Jet Audio). But the all-media/video players (VLC, Audible, BSPlayer, MX Player Pro) don't show controls. Maybe LG did some futzing with the code and locked out non-music players from the Floating Bar/AOD controls. If that's the case, they should have changed the banner to "Play Music to control".
BTW, my old V10 still shows controls for all these player music or video.
Any instructions on how to notify LG of this "error"?
DW
P.S> Is AOD an Android Oreo or an LG addition? I seem to remember these apps working just fine when I first got my phone with 7.1 (Nougat).

AOD was also on V30 Nougat.
You can downgrade to Nougat to check, if you wish.

[APP] Sensor Music Player

Note: I am not the developer of this app nor am I affiliated to this app in any way! It's just that I was awestruck after using this app, and thus couldn't help but share it with you guys.

Ever wondered Music runs without touch of ur finger??
Now it will!!
Intuitive music player, with sensors (proximity, accelerometer..) as controls.
This app allow you (mainly) to skip songs without using your fingers nor the screen, depending on the situation.
5 easy-to-access modes are available :
- Fly over : Pass your hand in front of your device (5cm max) to play/skip current song. Hold it 0.5s to pause. The proximity sensor we use is generally located around the device front speaker.
- Pocket : Lock the device, put in your pocket, slap it (pretty hard) to skip current track.
- Hammer : Put the device on a surface like a table, hit the table to skip current song. WARNING: using the device loudspeaker can produce enough vibration to fire the action !
- Sensors disabled : Sensors are disabled, you can only use buttons to control the player.
- Custom : In case you feel the need to use different sensor settings. Set wich sensors you want to enable, set sensitivty and your own action for each sensor events !
Tested on our SG3. Working like a charm!

^Yeah. But still IMO I feel this app is a l'il better than wave control mainly because of the following reasons:
1. Not all the features are available in the free version, thus one is forced to purchase the paid one in order to gain access to all the features. That's not the case in SMP.
2. One needs to go through the hassle of manually configuring the music player with the music player. Thus +1 to SMP on that aspect as well.
3. It's got many more modes besides wave over, like hammer mode, pocket mode or you can even make your own custom mode using the sensors! (w00t!)
changes audio?!?
my phones audio drivers are currently messed to high hell... but just wanted to ask why this app somewhat fixes that? I have no bass and then when I switch to pocket or hammer mode it sounds way more kick ass... what gives?

It works pretty well with music but when it comes to play movies or games there's an annoying audio delay .
Any solutions to fix this ?
Thanks
There is no solution. Every bluetooth accessory has a delay

i thought it might have been just some bad encoded files when i noticed this issue but looking back at other files i never had problems with i didn't have this issue until after i did the update. wish i knew the exact delay then i could adjust for it on all my files with bs player you can adjust audio offset.
It's an android issue. The delay is anywhere between 0.5 and 1 second. Custom roms like cm have corrected it I believe.

Thanks, I've done some research and yes it seems to be normal .
I was pretty disappointed since i bought this for playing movies and games , i wasn't aware of this issue :/
I can adjust the audio offset with my main player Diceplayer but it's just not convenient because that delay seems to varie, even on a same movie .
I tried a few video players and i couldn't believe, i have no issue with MX player, i can even skip forward or back, no lag, synced like it's wired lol
Dunno why it works, tried with mp4. avi, 1080 mkv so i'll just use Mx player when using my bluetooth speaker
Streaming over lan makes the videos lag a lot though..
Netflix , games are out of sync except a few ones

This simple but very handy app will allow you to create colorful tiles for the music playlists, using the albums art or your own graphics.
The app also supports NFC tags so you may automate some actions (like all tracks playback) in your car. Unfortunately, currently Microsoft has a limitation (damn stupid limitation but it's MS!) - NFC tags can't be processed with locked screen or screen off. Hope, MS will remove this in the WP 8.1 release!

Please review and rate the app. Don't leave negative feedbacks - tell me here what's wrong and I'll try to fix it as soon as I can!
App received update (I've fixed some bugs).
P.S. Hey guys, do you have app reviews/requests? Actually, I'm kinda disappointed because of silence here; looks like nobody (except me) uses a playlists to listen music...
it's not your fault, but the music app for wp is awful, thousands of topics all over the web about wp playlist's problems...
if ms decently update music app I'm sure people will start using your app...
have you done some "marketing" on wpcentral?

This app can work for WP7 too - I'm using good old XNA API to work with playlists. And - since WP7 launch - playlists has a lack of pictured tiles, they are always looks the same, very hard to handle...
I don't care about playlist tiles before upgrading to WP8.1: after BT connection to my Nissan Altima, system player starts playing all songs in random order. But MS changed the behavior, now it's silent. What's why I wrote this app.
BTW, people already started using my app - store has no analogues at all.

I've created the app announcement at the "developer spotlight" forum, exactly like here And the app is free (at least for now) so it's not a "pure marketing".

sorry I didn't mean that none is using your app, I think is a useful and good app but only two weeks ago creating/modifing a playlist on wp was a pain in the a** so not many users used playlist, but I repeat is a very good app :good:
What do you mean by "creating a playlist was a pain"? Have you ever tried to create a playlist(s) on PC, via standard Windows explorer? It's an easy as a pie - select folder(s), rightclick, choose "Create playlist", rename it - thats all. I was really surprised how easy it is!..
Currently, MS don't provide any API to access playlists created by new music hub And playlist format (probably) changed; now playlists are stored to internal database, not an external files (like an old way). I don't understand one thing - why we need these "improvements"?
Playlist Tiler got an update. Some bugs are fixed, speed and playlist shuffle improved. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to implement good wide tiles, will try to bring 'em in the next update.
App will remain free; I've only added purchase option for NFC tag writing. However if you wanna support my development, buy this option (just $0.99) like a donation

Seems to work/look fine on my Moto 360, no issues on my end
Moto 360 here. Would love to help test any upcoming features.
My wishlist:
Completely replace stock Music Card.
Replace notification background with album art.
Try to fit more buttons per page.
Perfect with Moto 360, but not with Android L. There is no music cover and the controls are different from the screenshots (not really a problem, but sometimes it's hard to tap volume up/down because they are too small). Anyway, that's the only Music Controller app i use, great job!

A new update is out soon (1.91) that should fix things for Lollipop. Please let me know if album art is still missing.
And yes the screenshots above are out of date. There is a configuration option to enable you to go back to the old controls if they are any better for you.
Wow, that's great! :good:
Opening post updated with details on the latest version 2.0:
Now you can start playlists, and play in certain music apps, directly from your watch! Enjoy!
Now has a music watch face! This shows the currently playing song info and album art. When the music stops, you get a new fresh look for your watch as the previous album art remains. See opening post for more details! Enjoy!
can i use voice command to start the app? i try the voice command as instrutions. say " ok google" first and then say " start music controller"....but it comes out the search result instead of start the app itself....

IF YOU FOUND IT HELPFUL BE SURE TO HIT THE THUMBS UP BUTTON :good::good:
Thank you for the finding, I'm on the same boat with you. All I want for OnePlus now is a great music player, this Huawei music is great however if there's no internet stuff on it, I'd use it as daily use. For now I'll try to switch between Google play music and this Huawei.
It closes down as i press the home button
Edit
Reinstalled and cleared data and cache of this app
Now works fine
why huawei music player? what is the difference?
Is it better than PowerAmp ?
It didn't work for me, kept closing when I try to search a song online and it said that had found the music in my internal storage but never it showed up. Also, I couldn't find the settings for preferences to change the Chinese suggestions (singers and Chinese font) about music and radio...

If you are in Nougat I think it broke the app and it doesn't work anymore.
@nrod96
Do you know if we are going to see updated version of this? The one that works in Nougat? The best thing about this app that it provides the equaliser for Google Music player.
This version does not work in nougat oos4
There is thread in xda- search for emui 4.0 apps
That music player works in latest oos4 version
But it lacks equalizer
In oos 4.0 sound setting we can now tweak audio settings; which solves the purpose
But in this version online song search does not work and cant download songs or lyrics album art etc.
Still a good app though
This is that app updated
Version 6.15.1.302
Very nice and clean looking music player. But I am going with Pulsar+ Music Player. Just perfect!
Try soon..
Huawei music app works on my 1+3T with CM13.
This version cannot be used !
