[Q] SDcards internal and external are read only, can't write to it anymore

This worked (re-enabled writing to sdcard2) for me on my Sony Tablet SGPT112USS updated and rooted ICS 4.0.3. I used ROM Toolbox app to mount the file system as rw, used a text editor to make the change to platform.xml, then used ROM Toolbox to mount the file system back to ro. Hope this helps. Found this on the web. Thanks to the original poster (forgot their handle).
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions and make sure you have mounted the file system r/w.
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission...<group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart your tablet.
After editing platform.xml file my both sdcards are not writable anymore...looking for some help on this
Your changes made the platform.xml file invalid and thus unusable causing more errors ont he way. Check it with XML parser for errors (loading it in browser like firefox or chrome, which supports xml will do) - the couse will be probably something trivial like using wrong quote characters or unclosed xml tag.

[Q] Shell command to list files in .apk

Hello,
I'm trying to unzip an apk using the device shell. I need to see the package name of the app contained in the apk. I tried using unzip -l but I just get output that says "zip flags 1 and 8 not supported". How can I unzip an apk? For that matter, am I using the right tool for this job? I just want to view the manifest of the apk, really. I have busybox.

You could contact admin for changing your username instead of creating another account because of typo.
However, contact the admin and deactivate your previous account
its so easy with any app like root browser, es file explorer, etc. i use both root browser by jrummy and es file explorer.
there's no use of zipping the apk just to see the manifest file...
the manifest file is obfuscated upon the building the apk... so if you try to extract it, you can only see a different, non-human readable format of it...
however you can use aapt to peek what's inside the manifest file in a readable format... try downloading the aapt binary...

(Fix) Playstore no connection problem fixed

ROOT IS REQUIRED
This is a fix for the No Connection Error on play store.
1. Download File Commander from Play Store.
2. Install it in your Device.
3. Open File Commander and goto Root folder of System.
4. Open the etc folder.
5. Find the file named "hosts", and hold it by ur finger for 3 seconds. Then click on edit file option, and choose File Commander Text Editor.
6. Delete everything and paste this at the first line: " 127.0.0.1 localhost". Copy it and dont modify anything.
7. Save the file with changes.

Remove Ads in Free Apps (Root)

Usually ads in free app are very annoying on screen.
This time I tried to help for this problem.
I use it and it works without ads.
NOTE: Android specs already in Root
Download;
FX File Explorer
File Explorer (Root Add-On)
The file is in the attachment (Extract before it is installed)
How to install;
Open FX File Explorer >> System (Root) >> Root Access (OK) >> System >> ETC
Look for a file called "hosts" instead of the one in the attachment and Reboot.
Hopefully there is no problem with you and I also managed to this day.

[Q] How can I edit APK's library files (.so files)?

I want to install 2 different versions of an app. I researched a little and found that I need to change APK's package name with APK Editor. I decompiled the APK with APK Editor and changed everything related with package name. For example The app's package name was
Code:
com.oldapk.filee
, I changed to
Code:
com.newapk.file
. Then I compiled it again and installed new apk file. But I was unable to launch the new APK file, I enabled USB Debugging on my phone and started to looking crash logs. I saw that the package name was mentioned as
Code:
com.oldapk.filee
, I started thinking about what could It be wrong, I used
Code:
ack
on linux to check which files has
Code:
com.oldapk.filee
string and saw that 2 libraries (.so files) was including the old package name. I changed them in NotePad++ (Hex Editor Addon) to new package name but this time when the app launches, I was able to see starting screen but it was crashing in 0.5 seconds after I launched it. I checked the crash logs again and then I saw that the package name was still old. Maybe the changes that I made didn't effect. How can I edit these files?
