No WiFi calling option - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I have an international S9+ (SM-965F/DS, 256G) and noticed there is no WiFi calling option under Connections/More Connection Settings (or anywhere else). What's up with that? The phone passed all authenticity checks I threw at it, including working Iris scanner and dual-aperture camera, so I really don't think it's a fake.
Of note, I have 2 T-Mobile Sims in it, and everything else seems to be working fine.
Stumped...

Unless you unlock the bootloader and flash the T-Mobile CSC, WiFi calling, VoLTE, video calling, and RCS will not work on the SM-G965F.

Wow, really? Where can I get TMo firmware? And if I do that, will it trip Knox and kill Samsung Pay? Also, will I get Tmo OTA updates after that? Thanks.

That is incorrect! I have it working perfectly fine on my Canadian version 965W. Did you flash to U1 and stay there or did you flash to the TMB U firmware? I have tried both but went back to U1 because of the updates contain the v2 bootloader. I don't have the option to turn it on in U1 but when I connect to WiFi, WiFi Calling automatically is enabled and yes, I have made calls over WiFi to confirm it works.

Thanks, I'll correct my post to say SM-G965F instead of "any non-US model". It seems that the SM-G965W firmware contains all the T-Mobile bits (eg. /system/framework/TmoWfcUtils.jar), while the SM-G965F does not.

Lol....dude you have a snapdragon he has exynos so you are totally incorrect actually.
How would you expect him to flash U1 or TMO firmware on an exynos lol?

The Canadian and US model are essentially identical.
Our exynos devices are vastly different but also superior in many ways. No locked bootloader for us, snap doesn't even have root!

Got the same issue. I'm in the UK and it's not there. One of the reasons I bought it was because I thought it had it - my work colleague has it on EE and has the option.
Mine is the SM-G965F.

I found the settings you are looking for last night. Instead of being in the Mobile Network tab, like normal Android. Go into the dialer, tab the 3 dots in the top right corner, go to settings, and there they are.

In the UK, you will need to have a "branded" handset.
My S9+ was originally from Vodafone, but I'm using it on Three.
To get WiFI calling, I flashed the stock Three firmware.
You can probably get away with a BTU firmware, and flashing your carriers CSC, but I couldn't be bothered as there was very little bloatware on the Three firmware.

Dave

Ah - well that explains it!
Do you have linkage to the Three 9+ firmware?

I have heard there is a way to change the CSC without rooting, unlocking bootloader, or tripping Knox. I want to avoid that in order to continue using Samsung Pay. If I absolutely have to choose, I will root to get WiFi calling, but if it's possible to get it without rooting, I'm going to find a way!

Mixing and matching firmware can be hit and miss. I wouldn't swap Exynos bootloaders with SnapDragon or vice versa though. The CSC contains the bulk of the carrier related settings and apps. There are usually two CSC files. One will wipe, one won't. The CSC_HOME doesn't wipe but may cause some issues. The other will wipe, at least to some degree. You also might want to look at some of the Combination ROM's available to see if they have all of what you need.
In order to flash without tripping things. The modded or patched version of ODIN is needed.

So if I wanted to flash the US T-Mobile stock firmware, how would I do it? Where would I even get the firmware? It's not on sammobile as far as I can see.

So I flashed the XEU most recent firmware - released a couple days ago. My device is SM-G965F BTU. Downloaded via SamFirm and flashed the four files with Odin.
Now have VoWifi and VoLTE.

Good News!! The brand new XEU stock firmware with may security patch for the S9+ works with WiFi calling and Volte so no need to use the three firmware anymore. I don't know about TMobile but the changelogs stated improvements to Volte and VoWiFI so my guess is that lots of carriers where added to get it work in the multi CSC. Btu for some reason uses a different non multi CSC so don't use BTU

Yes it does. I've been reading that it doesn't have Carrier aggregation/ mimo/ qam stuff. Do you know if t-mobile gets an os update first or does the unlocked get it first? Just trying to see which is best.

I have an Unlocked S8 Plus on T-Mo. Yes, WiFi calling works out of the box.
I've not heard a definitive answer about the MIMO or QUAM 256 (I think that is what it's called?). I know if you flash T-Mo software, it all works, but I dont know 100% if the LATE advanced stuff works on the unlocked firmware.
I will probably switch to the T-Mo software personally, since I live in one of the LATE Advanced trifecta areas, and honestly the T-Mo firmware is bloat free. The only thing they add is the T-Mobile app, the Device Unlock app, and a T-Mobile boot screen/sound.
If you don't want the T mobile apps/bloat flash the The XAA AP, XAA BL, and the TMO CSC. you can flash either the XAA or TMO CP(doesn't matter). you will have the unlocked firmware with no carrier apps baked in and still have the TMO features like wifi calling, RCS video calling and advanced messaging. will also have the TMO dialer instead of the unlocked dialer app. you will however have the TMO boot up splash screen. works, looks, acts just like a stock t mobile device minus the stupid t mobile apps. if you flash the TMO AP or USERDATA files, you will get the TMO apps. when both XAA and TMO updates are both released, you can then reflash the latest files together in the same sequence above per future software updates

Will flashing the unlocked firmware still work on carrier models of the s9+?

Anyone know or have insight?

I am happy to report that after flashing the Sprint firmware on my unlocked S9+ it worked with no issues and knox was not tripped. I've noticed that even though the Sprint splashscreen didn't show up at boot, while in setup the phone did detect the exact carrier I was on (Boost Mobile) and the phone showed the Boost Mobile splashscreen upon reboot and all the Boost Mobile apps as well as some bloatware loaded onto the phone as if it were a phone I purchased through them. But one issue I still notice since when I first bought the phone is the fact that the data speeds are slow in my area, but when I had an LG Stylo 3 from Boost in the area now where I see the slow data speeds, the LG didn't have that issue. I thought flashing carrier firmware would fix that problem. When I am in other parts in NYC out from where I live, ex: Manhattan, Brooklyn; I don't see no slow speeds I get true, fast 4G LTE. I guess it's a software issue Samsung can fix in the next update?
Anyone have link for modified Odin just in case I decide to flash iunlocked S9+ firmware back on my phone?

S9+ change csc firmware

Hello All,
I just got the Galaxy S9+ Brazilian variant SM-G9650 with original ZTO CSC.
I want to know if I can change the firmware to the TMB CSC, T-Mobile USA SM-G965U, without any damage. (via Odin)
Both variants have exactly the same hardware.
up
I have an unlocked exynos variant. The original csc when I got the phone was ITV (Italy). I live in Greece and when I inserted my Greek operator sim card, I got a message saying that I should factory reset the phone with the sim card inserted so as to get the proper settings for my region.
I did the factory reset, and after the reboot the csc of the phone changed to EUR (Greece), i.e. to the csc of my sim card.
Is that what you are asking?
Otherwise as you said you can flash the csc you want via Odin.
965u is different from 9650. Odin probably will fail.
通过我的 Mi Note 3 上的 Tapatalk发言
965u and 9650 have different bootloaders, as the first one is locked and the second one isn't.
I'm not sure if it will work, even considering both use SD845.
Little knowledge is dangerous
One is Snapdragon (U) and the other is Exynos (F/D).
To get T Mobile features on the exynos variant
1. Root
2. Load debloated Firmware which houses the T MObile tweaks
3. Load multi CSC file

Oh, I see. Maybe the original questions was never answered... My Bad.... I ahve been doing a lot of research on this topic and am possibly getting my threads confused. Sorry... So here is your answer...
No. You cant at this time.
I have been looking at every possible scenario I could think of to do this. I am going from VZW to T-Mo as of this past Sunday.
If you are on version 1 of the bootloader you "may" be able to. However, it would require flashing a International unlocked ROM. Changing the CSC with the field / test mode app then flash the T-Mo ROM. This DOES NOT work on V2 bootloaders. V2 Bootloaders are almost any device after the first software update. And to be honest with you I may even be confusing this process with the S8+
If you find anything post it here or send me a PM. I will do the same for sure!
Good luck to us with this!

Yes, Seems he may be confusing F/D for the 9650 which as far as I know there is no F/D variant of the 9650.
F= Exynos
D=Dual SIM

Is there any way to change CSC from TTT to ZTO without a SIM card of region and without root?

Android P Beta for Samsung Galaxy S9+ outside USA/GER/UK

Hi. I can't wait for another 3 months to get Android 9 together with One UI. I hoped that I can get beta version, but unfortunately it's available in selected countries only.
I thought that I will be able to bypass that block with VPN, I did it once for Good Lock 2018 using this post from Reddit. But I didn't succeed with the Android P beta.
The thing is, you need to use Samsung Members app to participate in testing, but looks like it detects your country using CSC. I have no other idea because I pulled out a SIM card from the smartphone, activated VPN, disabled GPS. But I still couldn't trick it.
So my question is, do you have any other ideas how I can install beta version of Android P? Should I wait for the ROM here at the forum? Or maybe I can change CSC someone without root (yes, I checked the forum but there's still no clear answer if I can do it or not as of 14th of November, 2018)? Appreciate any ideas

BTU should be fine, that's the one that I want to try as well. As for the SIM card, don't think that it's actually needed.
I flashed BTU firmware, but for some reasons, it didn't apply.. I still have the same CSC and my regional apps are still there. Does anyone have any idea why it could have happened?
UPD. Looks like I was able to install BTU. At first, I flashed AP, but I had to flash CSC as well. So I did it in 2 steps. After flashing CSC my smartphone reloaded into recovery menu. I made factory reset from there and that's it!

SM-G965W to U1 need some guidance (Canada to Verizon)

We're adding a line on our Verizon account with an S9+ that was on Canada's freedom mobile network.
I checked the IMEI on Verizon byod and it shows not compatible.
I asked some questions on reddit and was told to try flashing U1 firmware.
Been a while since I tinkered with phones like this so I'm comfortable with it but wondering:
Is this possible?
And if so, where to start? Any guides here I can follow?
