No Google services, no Play store, no google apps - Xperia Z3 (D6653) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I wonder if someone can help me please.
I bought a phone off ebay: Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653). It looks almost brand new with stickers on both the front and back. All the accessories are sealed also.
Howver, it came with a european plug (2-pin). When turned on there is no google services, no google apps, play store.
Everything looks fine apart from no google stuff. It has the old Android 4.4.4 installed.
When I check for update OTA then it says the device already has the latest software on (cannot be true).
I tried to repair the phone via PC through Xperia Companion but it appears that it found a later software as it downloads it (takes a while), but when it enters the preparation stage it comes up with an error message and stops.
The build number is 23.0.A.2.93
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You eaither should 1. Do a factory reset 2. If that does not work attempt to root the device and then get twrp for your device and then download the open gapps zip file from their official website. (Before installing twrp you should backup your current recovery if you device has one which is all on the official app which you currently can't get on google play but you can use adb for that. Just download the apk file onto your computer and first use cd downloads. (if you download folder is C:/Users/[insert your user here]/Downloads/) (if your starting directiory is anything other than C:/Users/[insert your user here] just use cd C:/Users/[insert your user here]/Downloads/) (if your downloads folder is something different just use cd [insert download location here]) After that you will need to use adb install [insert apk name here] (Tip: Put in a couple of the letters of the apk name and then press tab until you find it) Also you will need to install adb tools for this if you didn't already know you can eaither search for the forum on xda with the .exe file which only installs he adb commands and adb drivers (and maybe even fastboot commands and drivers if you find the one with both) or just get Android SDK which comes with the adb commands. After that finishes just tap on flash recovery. Then it should pop up with a menu asking what device you use. Choose your device. If it does not list your device that means the team hasn't officially released the recovery for your device yet, but on the xda forum for your device you might be able to find someone who made it themselves unofficially for the device. All you will need to do is use adb tools to install a app called Flashify and you will need to transfer the recovery image to the root of your internal storage or where ever you want to put the file. After that just open Flashify and find the setting flash system image then press recovery image. When that is done locate your file via file manager and then tap on it then Flashify will flash the custom twrp recovery. You will also need to transfer the open gapps .zip file yo your internal storage. When you flash your twrp (eaither through the official app or Flashify) reboot your phone. As soon as it shows the boot screen press and hold the button you would usually press to access recovery mode. (If it does not work or you do not know how just use adb again. When your phone boots to the lock screen use adb reboot recovery and then it should reboot and automatically go into the twrp recovery) After that wait for twrp to load, when that happens go to install and locate the open gapps zip file and press it. A message should appear asking if you want to add more zips, just swipe where it says to swipe and then press reboot device. And now you should have Google apps! Also for open gapps make sure you choose the right one according to your version of android. Since you are using android 4.4.4 select the Android 4.4.4 version of open gapps.

[Q] Help with Asus TF201

Hi to All,
Well I got an ASUS TF201 March 2012 and I never messed with it much, just net surfing and watching movies and listening to music....
I wanted to get rid of some apps that I dont use at all e.g Amazon Kindle but found out with research that I can do that. Also tried to use apps like Titanium Backup again I couldnt. I am new to the Tablet world this is my first. So I did some research and terms of root, unlock etc came up. So I know the difference between them. In order not to lose my warranty and since I just want to be able to delete certain unwanted apps and add other apps, I just want to for now root my TF201.
Did more research but I still cant get an answer or get some of the methods to work for me.
Below is the specs for my Asus TF201
1. So I have JB (Android Version 4.1.1), dont know if it came with it or got updated like I said I didnt mess with the tablet alot
2. Build #: JRO03C.US_epad-10.4.2.17-20121018
I plugged in the USB to my Windows XP laptop for the first time today and ofcourse I am missing the drivers. I went to ASUS website and couldnt figure what I need.
1. Does anyone have the ASUS Sync that I need on my laptop
2. Also does anyone have the drivers that I need on my laptop so my ASUS is recognized. I installed some drivers from the xda forum to use the DebugFS Root but got a message that I need to install the latest drivers. Does anyone have them or can tell share a link for me to get them.
All I want basically is to have the current drivers on my laptop and the ASUS Sync thing and be able to ROOT my tablet. Most of the threads I read are for the Android Version ICS 4.0.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated
Thanks

Asus Suite including Sync:
http://support.asus.com/Download.as...ite_v1_0_41.zip#ASUS_Pad_PC_Suite_v1_0_41.zip
I just went through the unlock part yesterday so fresh in the mind it ASSUMES AN SD CARD IS INSTALLED and WINDOWS OS!
Asus Unlock Tool:
http://support.asus.com/Download.as...ck_Device_App_V6.apk#UnLock_Device_App_V6.apk
Get TWRP for TF201Jellybean:
TWRP Page
On that page are instructions including a download link for JB BOOTLOADER ONLY! MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT TWRP FILE FOR YOUR DEVICE. THE ICS ONE IF YOU ARE ON ICS, OR THE JB ONE IF YOU ARE ON JB:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf201/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-tf201-jb.blob
I got ADB from several sources but this "root method" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 from bin4ry is what I have been using: (And no, it doesnt work for the prime because the exploit he uses to run the device in emulator mode doesnt work for us)
Download bin4ry's root tool to get the ADB file
When that is downloaded you can compare the MD5 hash because its a good idea to do that. You can find something like winMD 5 generator:
http://www.winmd5.com/download/winmd5free.zip
Use it to generate an MD5 hash of the TWRP download to what it saysthe files MD5 hash is on the download web page. If I remember correctly I had to manually type in the MD5 hash from the page because it was an image I couldnt just copy. Or you can just visually verify with the one generated by winmd5.
Then I downloaded Ultimate Backup Tool from here:
http://goo.gl/iOUwe
Unzip it so you have fastboot.exe
Rename the TWRP you downloaded to TWRP.blob and copy it to where you have fastboot unzipped.
Finally download SuperSU zip file from:
http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Now we need to unlock the device. Copy the unlocker APK to the SD card. Run a file explorer on our tables and browse to the SD card (/Removable/MicroSD). Tap the APK to install. Once installed run the Icon for the unlocker and follow directions. There are several warnings etc.. You will need wifi connected and it will unlock your device and VOID YOUR WARRANTY!.
The unlock will take a few minutes. When it is successfull you will see a notice on device boot up that says the device is unlocked.
Once unlocked, power it off. Once off power it onby holding BOTH volume down and power buttons. When you see the menu appear the first option is RCK. press Volume Down to change the cursor to be over the USB logo (two presses of the button) and press volume up. This puts your device in fastboot mode
Back on your computer you should hopefully see a successfull driver install. I got drivers from downloading and installing the Android SDK so you may or may not need to do that. Android SDK
If all is prepared and you are in fastboot with drivers loaded:
On your computer hold shift and right click on the folder where fastboot and the twrp.blob file are and you will see a context menu. Click on "Open Command Window Here"
if you don't get the command window here option then you will have to open a command prompt. open the run dialog and type CMD and hit enter. This will get a dos command windows. Use the change directory (CD) command to change the current folder in the DOS window to where your fastboot file and TWRP.blob are.
In the command window paste:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp.blob
and hit enter
Let it runs its course. When done I had a black screen with ASUS in the middle and a blue-ish bar across the bottom that was filled. I had to hold power until it rebooted.
Once I confirmed my Stock OS loaded I copied the Super SU zip file we downloaded above over to the device via the USB cable to the root of my SD card. Once the copy complets shutdown the device again.
Once off, power it on and press and hold both the power buttons and volume down again. When the menu appears you should already have RCK (recovery) hightlighted so press volume up to load TWRP recovery.
Once TWRP loads the top left option is "Install" tap that.
You will see a few choices, select the radio button to install from SD card (external source it may say). Tap the super su zip file: Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip to choose it.
Slide the slider at the bottom to the right.
This will flash superSU to your device. When done, reboot (should only take a few seconds).
When you boot up SuperSU is installed.
To test root with ADB:
Your tab must be plugged in to the USB port of the computer of course.
If you installed the SDK tools it is there or use the one from bin4ry's root tool as follows:
Unzip the downloaded root tool from bin4ry mentioned above. Use the command windows to change directory of the unzipped folder and further in to the "STUFF" folder. type:
adb shell
<hit enter>
after a few seconds you should see a $ prompt and your are in to the console of your tablet.
Type:
su root
<hit enter>
Superuser will prompt you to grant root permissions and I set the setting so it doesnt prompt me every time.
Your prompt will change to # and thats it, you are root.
I don't seem to have the command sudo on my tab so every time in a terminal I want root I will type that su root to get the # prompt.
Any apps that need root can now ask for it, you will get that same "Grant" prompt and do so if that is what you want.
ADB will now yield Root when you type: SU root and hit enter (grant root privs in the popup)etc...
Edits:
I have editted this based on questions below to make it more complete..
First Thank yo uso much for taking the time and sharing the good info. Ofcourse there is alot of foreign terminology you have used and I will need to read you reply a number of time till it soaks in and I am sure I will have follow-up questions.
So it seems the only way I can get to root my TF201 (running JB) is to unlock it which means losing the warranty. Well if thats the only route then so be it....
I guess first thing is to successfully unlock the TF201

Yes, unlock it. There is no root method for tf201 on JB outside of unlock. An exploit may come up some day but nothing soon I would wager.
I tried to organize it by Al the stuff you need to download first. Then steps to use what you downloaded. It you follow it precisely things would become clearer.
Hi,
Ok I was going through the instructions and downloading all the necessary files and I ran into an issue with downloading the TWRP for JB. Well the link you have allows me to download either the *.img or the *.blob extensions. So I went ahead and downloaded the *.blob extension. I did the MD5 as you recommended and visually checked it with the image on the website and they dont match. I got the below
"b6bae17dac81a126d5d3ad8e27fd5007" which is entirely different than the one on the webpage. I also tried the *.img and no luck there. So I stopped. What do I do now where can I get the TWRP
Thanks

I did some googling and found the below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510737
the link has "Direct apk link (dropbox)"....Is this what you referred too? I downloaded the file, should I move it to the SD card and run it from within the tablet?. Is there a way to run an apk file.
Also
I downloaded Android SDK on my laptop. I run the eclipse.exe as per the instructions on the website but nothing happens
Thank you
RB
Download the APK from the link I gave above. It comes straight from ASUS. I had gotten it 2 months ago and I guess I thougth I had run an installer and copied the APK from there but it is in fact just an APK to download directly.
When you copy it to the SD card nothing is needed to run it. Just tap on the file in a file explorer on the tablet and it will install itself. once installed run the installed unlock app and follow the directions.
The link from ASUS has a zip file. So i did download it and extract it to the SD card. Moved the SD card to the tablet but there is no apk file.....Also do i use the twrp file even if the md5 didnt match.
Thanks

The second link that says it is for the unlock tool is the APK.
Ok the unlock worked successfully. So my TF201 is unlocked.
Following the rest of your post, next thing on the hit parade is to have the correct TWRP for JB (Open_recovery_TWRP.blob). At this point the MD5sum using WinMD doesnt match the image on the website. Do I still go ahead and use it or will it cause issue....
Ofcourse I dont understand what is the use of the MD5sum number
Thanks

The MD5 is confirmation that what you downloaded matches what was uploaded to the server. It runs an algorithm against the file contents and generates that long number. When you compare the number to what is on the server page they should match.
If they don't match then HELL NO do not flash it or you will have a bricked device. Redownload it and don't flash anything unless the MD5 matches.
I totally missed that you posted this above or I would have told you sooner.
Thanks, well then i cant use that link i cant get the MD5 to match. I will google and see if I can find a twrp file that will work for me

This is the MD5 hash that you should get:
19d93f4ec4685b8124468684eb2913fc
This is the exact download link I used for my TF201 running the most recent JB Update:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf201/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-tf201-jb.blob
The file you get is: openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-tf201-JB.blob which is the one I say to rename to twrp.blob
I would NOT flash anything not from the source on this one. If its wrong your device is trash.
Hi again,
Ok so i got the correct TWRP.blob and I changed its name and put it in the folder with fastboot.exe. i plugged in my tf201 to my laptop followed the power volume sequence. I held the shift and right clicked on the folder but i didnt see "Open command window here". So how do i got about that. Do i use the "cmd" in the run from start to open the black dos screen and change directory (cd..) till i get to the folder that has the fastboot.exe
Thanks

Yes, just open CMD and "cd" your way to the directory. Just make sure you end up inside the directory (ie. "...\UBTv1.3.2>")

Lol, guess I didnt include one of those in the downloads. After flashing TWRP I assume you "Installed" the superuser zip? This is what roots the device.
I got ADB from several sources but this "root method" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 from bin4ry is what I have been using: (And no, it doesnt work for the prime because the exploit he uses to run the device in emulator mode doesnt work for us)
http://ul.to/xdevcthz
Your tab must be plugged in to the USB port of the computer of course.
Download the ZIP file and decompress. Use CMD to change directory to the unzipped folder and further in to the "STUFF" folder. type:
adb shell
<hit enter>
after a few seconds you should see a $ prompt and your are in to the console of your tablet.
Type:
su root
<hit enter>
Superuser will prompt you to grant root permissions and I set the setting so it doesnt prompt me every time.
Your prompt will change to # and thats it, you are root.
I don't seem to have the sudo on my tab so every time in a terminal I want root I will type that su root to get the # prompt.
Any apps that need root can now ask for it, you will get that same "Grant" prompt and do so if that is what you want.
Adding:
i just remembered that you said you downloaded the android SDK. ADB is in amongst those files as well.
By the i still didnt follow the below instructions but it seems i am already rooted because i was able to download titanium backup. So what will the below steps give me more.
Also how do i get rid of apps like Amazon kindle??.....
Below you say that you used the method from binary but you also say it doesnt wok with the prime. So i presume tf201 is the prime, so i still follow the below right

What I meant was I use ADB from that root method from bin4ry. He includes ADB.EXE and needed DLL files so its a quick one stop shop for ADB.
Does the adb shell command give you anything? No its just proves root is available. Rootcheckers can also do it. ADB is just a way in to your device from a desktop machine.
I have never removed an APP but I believe removing its APK file from /system/app folder allows it to be removed or does remove it. ( i would save it somewhere in case you need/want it back)
Thank you for an easy to follow way to root a 4.1.1 JB OTA TF-201. It worked exactly as you described.
You may want to let some of the noob users know what in each zip file they need. It really helps if all the files you download are in one location unless you are familiar the windows command line.

How to change Mibox 3c MDZ-16-AA to stock android TV Launcher

Hi everyone, I recently bought a Xiaomi Mi box3c and was very disappointed with custom rom and the interface that it came with on it. So surfing the web there are a few tutorials on how to change it and I tried a few but they are not that great either, till finally someone patched the stock android TV Lean back Launcher for it, it took some tinkering but I got it working, this may not be the best way but this is how I did it form the start. This is not my work, I just followed instructions and I have gathered them here. As I am lazy Im not gonna provide pictures for every step but it’s pretty straight forward.
For using some the apps during the process you will need usb mouse cause not every apps supports Mibox remote configuration
As I am a new poster I am not allowed to post any links so change every dot word to an actual . for the links.
1. Turning on the Box and Changing to English
1.1 Download this apk provided by Xiaomi veterans on forum, it’s a shortcut to the stock android setting
drive dot google dot com/open?id=0B16bkj0QSkYnc0k2UUFTU05vSHM 1.2 copy the apk to a normal usb flash drive and connect to mibox and install the apk
1.3 Run it and now you can change the language as in any android device.
2. Downgrading Firmware
All of the root options available for this device are for the older firmware so you need to downgrade the device. (it’s much easier than it sounds.)
2.1 Download the original firmware for MDZ-16-AA from this link: (both are the same thing)
yadi dot sk/d/Yvr1jYflm6GZR androidfilehost dot com/?fid=745425885120695554 2.2 Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file to a formatted usb tick (Fat32). (There should be two files: xiaomi_update and update.zip)
2.3 Put the USB flash drive in your Mi Box and boot in recovery
(How to boot into recovery: Unplug power > press and "hold back + ok" button while plugging the power back in. The remote should be nearby and facing the box. Do not let go of the buttons until it booted in recovery. for some devices its "home + menu" button instead of the previous one.
2.4 the flashing should start and finish automatically. don’t connect the device to WIFI after this step until you have disabled the intelligent update.

3. Rooting the device
I tried almost all of the rooting apps, none of them worked for me but I have seen people insisting that permroot works for them so I put the link for that, using it is pretty straight forward, download, install on device and try to root with it.
but in case that doesn’t work Kingoroot Windows app will definitely work. this is how to root with kingoroot. For this method you need a USB type A --> USB type A cable.
3.1 First download the kingoroot desktop app from their website
3.2 Install the app on your windows desktop
3.3 Go to your mibox device setting (mibox setting not android stock from part 1) and in Security setting and Enable USB/ADB debugging, device will restart for this setting to change.
3.4 connect your mibox to your desktop and wait for the device to be installed and recognized by windows. (If you are using windows 10 it will detect the device by itself)
3.5 Run the kingoroot app on the windows and let it detect the device, as soon as it detects the device root option will appear, click on root option it and wait
3.6 Kingoroot will try to install an app on your mibox, allow it and then this will continue and finish the rooting process.
3.7 Disable USB/ADB debugging, so you can connect USB Flash drives to the device again.
3.8 Check for the root stastus with rootchecker.

4. How to flash TWRP to device
4.1 download the TWRP App from this link:
dl dot twrp dot me/twrpapp/me.twrp.twrpapp-18.apk 4.2 Download the android ROM and TWRP image together from this link:
goo dot gl/q5DGED password : Mibox2015 4.3 open the zip file and copy this image file to your USB Flash drive
MDZ-16-AA-AndroidTV-V1\TWRP-RECOVERY\twrp-mdz-16-aa.img
4.4 Connect the USB flash drive to the box and copy the image to device storage
4.3 Install the TWRP app on the device using the USB flash drive
4.4 Run it and select first two boxes.
4.5 Go to flash TWRP option and wait for app to ask permission from SU, grant permission.
4.6 Select TWRP flash and select flash from image. Select the image that you copied to device storage.
4.7 Boot into recovery (by this time you have root access and it’s better to boot to recovery with one of the reboot apps ex. Quick Reboot)
(Now you have TWRP, but the problem is every time you reboot the box, the stock rom overwrites the TWRP files and it goes back to Default recovery, to solve this we need to replace the Rom itself too)
5. Replacing the Rom
5.1 While still in TWRP page, make a small boot backup just so TWRP makes a folder in storage of your device.
5.2 Reboot the device from TWRP (reboot system)
5.3 Now using a File manager (I used X-plore) copy the Rom folder to the same backup folder that was created by TWRP in your storage.
Copy This folder:
MDZ-16-AA-AndroidTV-V1\TWRP\BACKUPS\11608V180037788\2014-12-31--18-01-42_6.9.7.949
To this folder: (Which is already should be there created by TWRP)
Internal Storage\TWRP\Backups\ (your device’s Serial number)\
5.4 Repeat steps 4.6 & 4.7 again to Flash TWRP again, after booting to TWRP go to restore and select file (2014-12-31--18-01-) to restore, swipe to restore and wait for 10-15 minutes
5.5 After restore is done don’t reboot, go back to TWRP main page, go to Wipe then advanced wipe, select Dalvik, Cache and Data to be wiped. After wipe is done reboot system
5.6 When android system boot is complete, go to setting down below and change the language to English and its done.
I hope it helps

I tried to downgrade my MDZ-16-AA device with the MiBOX3_jurassicpark_gitv_1.3.106.386 file ... but it brings it down only to 1. 3. 114 and not to 1. 3. 106.
Secondly I do not get "ADB Debugging" option. Hence I cannot connect my Mi Box to my laptop.

Add widevine drm in MDZ-16-AA
To complete your notice, I found a way to launch MyCanal and molotov.tv (not tested for netflix yet).
As you know these apps requires widevine drm.
First download
extractor 4.0 and Xiomi 3S official rom
Then extract update.zip and add in root folder of extractor: system.new.dat + system.transfert.list.file_context
Use Extractor.bat to uncompact system.new
On folder go on system\vendor and copy paste lib folder on USB key.
Does anybody know how to go to recovery mode?
HOLD Back + OK and Home + Option doesn't work for my MDZ-16-AA
the system has been automatically updated yesterday.. :crying:
Thank you so much, I got it installed.
Step 1 can be hard because of the chinese language therefor I used this link:
https://www dot cnx-software dot com/2016/04/12/how-to-change-language-to-english-and-install-apps-remotely-on-xiaomi-mi-box-3-enhanced/
at step 2 I made the mistake that I extracted the update.zip aswell. while I needed to keep it zipped.
I used the app RUFUS to make the usbdrive a FAT32 drive.
at step 3 Kingoroot worked for me, although I needed to restart several times to make the ADB debugging connection work.
at step 4 sending the TWRP files, was a bit of a hurdle. It wwas not possible for me to copt them from the USB stick with ES file manager to the device. I needed to use the USB cable to my computer (ADB off) password: "@mibox2015"
At point 5 I was not able to use my remote or keyboard, I needed to turn off ADB!
At the end allot works, but there is still some bugs:
- MIUI still present. eg. when connecting an usb stick you get a chinese menu. and you are able to get into the old system menu
- unable to get NETFLIX to work
- allot of bloatware, apps I can not disable or delete.
- im unable to disable search by microphone in the UI, which is not supported by the remote of the 16-AA
- im unable to edit the tiles in the homescreen to eg. hide the supersu, market etc. and to put PLEX of KODI more in front
Thanks!!!!

I successfully rooted my mibox 3c (MDZ-16-AA) and installed TWRP app and Android TV.
Now I want to go back to the Xiaomi Original Firmware (1.5.25). I tried to use TWRP and the Update.zip, but it did not work. How can I do it? Many thanks!

I read from a Chinese forum that the 1.4.32 can also be rooted. As far as I know the Android TV is based on the 1.3.106. Does it make any sense to root the MDZ-16-AA with the firmware 1.4.32 and install the Android TV then?

Gapps/TWRP/CWM on china tablet

Hello,
I recently got a hand on Yuntab K107, ARM MT8752, Android 5.12 Bootloader unlocked. Everything worked fine until factory reset, after that Google play store and other gapps stopped working (play store checking info, then goes black and freezes for a while).
Tablet is rooted from factory by kingroot, I tried finding TWRP/CWM for this tablet to reflash gapps but I failed. I also tried Magic TWRP installer and MTK droid tools. Magic TWRP installer acts like it's working but no results. MTK droid tools refuses to find my device even if i tried every driver possible and cleared wrong drivers with USBDeview.
I also tried flashing gapps manually thru root explorer by unpacking gapps files and matching system file structure also no luck.
Then I backed up the stock recovery and tried flashing few custom TWRP's that some post suggested may work (you guessed it - it didn't work) It just hangs on the first booting screen then it surrenders after a while and reboots back into android.
Do you know about any TWRP/CWM that might work on this tablet or any other way to repair gapps if recovery is not necessary?
Thanks
I also rooted it with kingroot but havnt any custom recovery but i doing some experiment. Let se what it will result
I should be able to compile TWRP for you
I have one of these K107 tablets but it is running Android 7 and so far I have been unable to root it. Because you guys have root you should be able to download adbd Insecure by chainfire and follow this guide to Fetch the boot.img file by Extracting the boot.img directly from the device:
you will first have to determine the (sadly device-specific) path to the storage device where boot.img's content can be retrieved. I know two methods for this:
ls /dev/block/platform/*/by-name/ (where * covers yet another device-specific folder name, chances are it is the only directory below platform/), the exact name to search is also platform dependent but makes usual sense (some examples: boot, LNX (acronym for "Linux")). The files in this directory are actually symbolic links and some people bother to manually go to the target, but I recommend sticking with the higher level name based path which, while longer, remains less error prone. So you will end-up with a path like /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/LNX.
On some (older?) devices, the right device could be found by investigating the output of cat /proc/mtd. If you see the device mtd2 associated to the "boot" label, then you will use the path /dev/mtd2.
Now:
From the phone's developer menu:
Enable debugging on your phone,
Allow root access to ADB (this step applies to phones running CynogenMod, other devices may require some potentially more complex procedure),
Connect it to your computer (and from there to the VM guest if you are running Android tools from within a virtual machine).
If this is not already done, I recommend to manually start the ADB server on the computer's side, this will allow you to directly validate the RSA key on device's side without affecting the behavior of the following ADB commands:
adb start-server
Then switch ADB in root mode:
adb root
Finally, you should be able to directly extract the boot.img file from the device using such command (the source and destination path and names are given as examples, adapt them to your needs and preferences):
adb pull /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/LNX ./boot.img
The command will copy the whole partition, both used and free space, so don't be surprised that the resulting boot.img file will be larger than the original boot.img file coming with the stock ROM .zip file, the content itself remains similar.
Once the transfer is finished, disconnect the phone and don't forget to disable both debugging and root access from the developer menu.
Then upload the boot.img and I will build TWRP and test it on my tablet for you

That's the Google translation:
A little instruction on how to get RooT. And so, everything that you do, as always, is at your own peril and risk! All data is erased when unlocked! Make BACKUP !!! Is always!!!! I. Unlocking Boorloder-a (required for flashing the phone and everything connected with it): 1. Go to settings -> system -> About phone -> Build number (7 clicks) (Congratulations !!!! You are a developer!) < - About phone -> For developers: Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking. 2. We connect the phone to the computer and install the ADB usb driver (on the Internet), a connection request should appear on the phone, you need to allow it. 3. Extract files from the N20_utils.rar archive (10.87 MB) (preferably not very far, the root of the disk or the created folder N20 will be there). Go to the Unlocked Bootloader folder and run the bat file, the phone will reboot and display the request "unlock? Yes / no" rocker up - yes / rocker down - no. Naturally, you need to press the volume up, otherwise there were so many actions)) 4. Congratulations! Now, with each reboot, you will have an Orange state (5-second inscription), and the ability to do whatever you want with your phone. II. We sew! 1. For the lazy (who value their time). Download the SP Flash tool (Internet), from the N20_utils.rar archive (10.87 MB) select MT6763_Android_scatter and boot_magisk_20 files for the boot partition, lk_pached for lk, etc. you can even twrp instead of native recovery. Turn off the phone, connect it to the computer and click Download in the SP Flash programs. After the OK circle appears, disconnect and reconnect the cable (easier than a forced reboot). We turn on the phone and put the magisk manager (internet). Congratulations!!! You have a root and no Orange State label! 2. Who wants more and himself: phone to computer -> go to the Unlocked Bootloader folder -> run CMD -> write "fastboot flash recovery" put a space and move the TWRP file with the mouse to the window (fast path to the file) and press ENTER -> reboot the phone to fastboot. Congratulations!!! you have TWRP. Boot into TWRP, skip the encrypted DATE message, go to formatting and format the DATE. Go to mount and connect MTP. A phone will appear on my computer, we drop the files DisableForceEncryption_Treble (disable date encryption), orange_state_disabler_v0.3 (remove orange_state) and magisk.zip (internet) into the memory section. In TWRP, click install all this and rejoice! 3. Who has nothing to do at all: go to the forum thread Development and porting of GSI firmware (Post bullik01 # 71222655) and try what catches your eye. Not all are loaded, but .... (although we do not seem to have an A / B structure, but only "arm64 A / B" were launched) PS: look for additional information here on the forum and for brotherly devices UMiDIGI A5 Pro - Firmware ( Post Xakep1993 # 86772223) Attached files recovery-TWRP_3.3-20191015-1714.img (22.81 MB) DisableForceEncryption_Treble.zip (4.24 MB)

Hi, were you by any chance able to get a copy of these files ,Please upload if posssible
The original links are broken and the internet seemed to wipe all traces out, I'm looking for the N20_utils and possibly the Disable force encryption one
Good day
Had the same problem, (English not so good but I know you'll understand). What I did was just installing Corvus OS rom, the 11th version. It's been quite a while since i installed it.
Tried Lineage 18.1 and adding the smallest gapps available, but everytime i get code error 1. I guess it was the twrp 3.3 version i used cause some roms requer the latest TWRP versions. The lineage is installing just right nd can reboot to system with no hiccups.
None of Android 12 gsi versions has ever been able to installed. Cause when i try to install, i get the error of "file too large for the target partition. Tried everything from the net to increase the system partition to at-least 3gig. No success.....
Is anyone who can help to install android 12 even beta version will be ok for my N20 Doogee??
Thanx

The file is in the forum. But to make your life easier here are the link.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18B-srDVia_H4aDt7uvCDUxg2e4R5kVVY?usp=sharing The file is of type .exe and that extracts when you run on the pc, the problem is that I was suspicious about the virus so I threw the file in the total virus (if you don't know what it is, just search) and 6 programs pointed it out as malware but many others didn't find anything including karpersky and bit defender, there to make sure the files were there i renown they from .exe to .zip and I looked and the files really were there but as I don't want to take the risk I didn't extract and I didn't even try anything. The file that fix the encryption are inside doogee n20.exe, the guy said it will be in .exe and when you run it extracts the file in the C folder of the computer I recommend you to rename it from .exe to .zip because if the file have a virus you can screw your pc when running

Hi, did you find N20_utils?

MIUI Unlocking Bootloader, Flashing Recovery & Rooting Process

First of All, these are my knowledge which was gained through hard reading from XDA Developers Forum, GitHub, reddit, different websites & watching YouTube Videos.DISCLAIMER: Here, I will explain all the process of unlocking Bootloader, Flashing Recovery & Rooting Your Xiaomi Phone, though the general idea is the same, so you can read it from TOP TO BOTTOM because you can use this knowledge FOR ANY ANDROID PHONE GENERALLY. Here, I also explained ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU MIGHT FACE WHILE DOING THIS, AND HOW TO GET OUT OF THOSE PROBLEMS, BECAUSE XDA THREADS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS DOES NOT ANSWER YOUR PROBLEMS IN ONE THREAD OR IN ONE VIDEO, ONLY WHILE DOING IT, WE FIND THAT, DOING THESE WEREN'T SO EASY LIKE YOUTUBE VIDEOS OR XDA THREADS
AND OF COURSE, DO THESE ON YOUR OWN RISK, IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE AND YOU BLAME ME, I WILL LMAO AT YOU.
REQUIREMENTS: 1. PC/LAPTOP 2. PENDRIVE WITH OTG CABLE (FOR PRECAUTION, GO TO STEP 4.3 TO LEARN WHY)
Step Number 01: Backup All Your Data:

YOU HAVE BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA, INCLUDING APP DATA, GALLARY PHOTOS, ALL OF THEM BECUASE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL RESET EVERYTHING, IT WILL START FROM THE MOMENT WHEN YOU BOUGHT YOUR PHONE FIRST & SWITCHED IT ON.
STEPS:
To Backup All Your Data-
Go to settings "backup and restore" in additional setting (or in MY DEVICE - BACK UP & RESTORE) you can use either mobile or computer backup, both are same, after backing up, transfer it to computer.
Backup your contact from "contacts" (optional, because "step a" includes this)
Then connect your phone with your pc & backup all the necessary files, for example, create a backup of these folders:
DCIM
Download
Pictures
MIUI (Gallery, recorder etc.)
Shareit, vidmate folder
Whatsapp folder (you can also backup it in google, goto SETTINGS - CHATS - CHAT BACKUP)
and others as per your necessity
My process is a manual process, so no app is required.
READ IT: in internet, you will find that you can use rooted app to backup these, like TITANIUM, or take a NANDROID BACKUP (SYSTEM AND APPS) USING TWRP RECOVERY, my boy, listen well, you haven't yet unlocked your bootloader, how can you have a rooted device and twrp recovery? (well you can have a rooted device but that also requires unlocked bootloader which will reset everything on your phone)
Step Number 02: Unlock Your Bootloader
STEPS:
Enable developer option by clicking on MIUI version 7 times
from "Additional setting", go to "developer option". there, do these:
enable OEM UNLOCKING
in device unlocking, add your MI account. if shows problem or error, remove your MI account then add it again from device unlocking, (NOT FROM MY DEVICE, ADD ACCOUNT) then, it will take you to main settings, just come back and click add again, it will work in Sha Allah.
now in your pc, download MI Flash Unlock from official MI website, HERE (better to install the latest)
Unzip it, run it using "batch_unlock", add your mi account
in additional settings again, in developer option, enable "USB DEBUGGING"
now in pc, connect your phone in fastboot mood, (swithing off then holding power button and volume down will take you to fastboot mood, there is another process of going to fastboot mood, which is described in step 3)
if your device is recognized IN MIUI UNLOCK TOOL but after connecting it in miui unlock tool, fastboot mood turns of and says "PRESS ANY KEY TO SHUTDOWN" in your phone, you may try swithing to USB port 2 but it didn't work for me. Instead, I ran this bat file code "AS ADMINISTRATOR" from XDA developer forum, you can do it too. I renamed it as "a.bat" first thing to come it my mind. then disconnect USB and connect again in your fastboot mood. Click Refresh in unlock tool.
(OR, IF YOUR DEVICE IS NOT RECOGNIZED IN MIUI UNLOCK TOOL, FOLLOW THESE:
remove MI account from unlock tools and again add, if password shows error even after typing correctly, use phone number and pass to log in, in stead of email and password. Check if device if recognized or not.
If not, try these, Download MIUI Flash Tool and unzip it, run XiaoMiFlash.exe. At the top line, find DRIVER, install all DRIVERS.
IF YOU FACE LOG FILE ERROR,
SOLUTION: JUST CREATE A FOLDER NAMED "log" in the same directory. DONE, YOUR DRIVER WILL BE INSTALLED, CLICK YES EVERY TIME, THEN CONNECT YOUR PHONE WITH MIUI UNLOCK TOOL AND CLICK REFRESH.
your device will be shown in "batch_unlock" in sha Allah. Click unlock. Remember, your phone will loose all data, just full factory reset.
8. after 99% it will show "unlock sign" at the top of your phone, and your phone will reboot, just let it reboot. It will take at best 12 minutes to reboot. Don't worry, seat tight, watch a YouTube Video of Dr. Zakir Naik or Ahmed Deedat Sir <3.9. setup your phone as if it's a new device. (it is necessary, because after this, we will flash recovery and root your phone, because it is really important to take a backup of your original "PERSIST.IMG" . it is possible for rooted device only. (though it can be done through recovery, but from magisk, it's the best way and safest).10. you can restore all backup from your pc now. (not necessary, if you want to change ROM)
Step Number 03: Install ADB (PC) & TWRP RECOVERY (Android)STEPS:
download latest SDK from OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
2. name of the download will be "platform-tools_r31.0.2-windows.zip" unzip it in DESKTOP (IMPORTANT). it's name will be "platform-tools", open it. (ADB COMMAND WILL RUN ONLY IN THIS FOLDER.
ALTERNATIVE ADB: you can also do it by one click adb installer, just install the file, and cmd will work at any position. File is given in the telegram, in my .rar file. But sometimes it shows problem, adb command is not recognized by the windows. then, above platform tools folder is useful as it always works.
3. downlead latest TWRP specific for your device from HERE. website guide: >find your device name> device model> Download Links > click either "Primary (Americas)" or "Primary (Europe)" or you can download them from XDA too (XDA process: search in google "TWRP for MI 9 se (your specific device with model number, not Mi9SE) XDA" then, go to the thread, below you will find GITHUB or any other download link, go there and you can download it from there.
4. (YOU CAN IGONORE THIS STEP, LET ME KNOW IF YOU FACED ANY PROBLEM, THOUGH YOU SHOULDN'T) rename the twrp file to twrp.img (not necessary though, check if your device extension is hidden or not, if hidden, you will not see any extension after any file, in that case, you can just rename "twrp" because img extention is already there and it's hidden. How to check hidden extention: in that folder, go to view at the top of the screen of that folder, (at beginning - beside cross, minimize then click "view"> click "option" in one row down, at extreme right side of it > click "view"> in downwards, untick "hide extensions for known file type"> click "apply">click "ok" then close it.)
5. keep the "twrp.img" (the file you downloaded, no need to rename, .img will show depending on unhidden condition) in the "platform tools" folder.
6. now go to "platform tools" folder. it's better to keep the folder in "desktop". go to the folder address, it is above the "Name, Date Modified, Type, Size" row, where it is written all the folders name that you have clicked to come to this folder. Now, click on the folder address, write "cmd", hit enter.
7. now connect your phone making sure "USB DEBUGGING IS STILL ON" because after unlocking bootloader, it will automatically be set to OFF.
write these commands: (after each command hit enter)
adb devices (it will show your device number if it is connected properly, if shows unauthorized, g0 to your phones home screen, disconnect and connect the usb again, in cmd write adb devices, a permission will pop up in your phone at bottom, not in notifications, click YES, your device will be authorized)
adb reboot bootloader (it will take you to fastboot mood instantly)
fastboot devices (it will show your device number it it is connected properly, to make sure it is still connected)
fastboot flash recovery (give space after recovery, then drag the twrp.img file here)
fastboot boot (give space after boot, then drag the twrp.img file here, your phone will boot into recovery.) ALTERNATIVE TO THIS STEP: fastboot reboot (it will reboot, but stop it instanlty by holding "power and volum up button", it is a must, it will take you to twrp manu, if you don't go now, later twrp will be removed by your phone)
AND OF COURSE, YOU HAVE TO ROOT YOUR PHONE RIGHT NOW, EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT IT, CAUSE IF YOU DON'T, YOUR PHONE WILL REMOVE TWRP AS YOUR RECOVERY.
8. you will see twrp screen, then asking you "to keep system files as read only or swipe to allow modification, tick in DON'T SHOW AGAIN AND SWIPE TO ALLOW MODIFICATION". Then it will ask for a password to decrypt your phone, give the password to decrypt your phone. (to learn about encryption decryption, go to step number 4.3).
IF YOU FACE BOOTLOOP OR ANY OTHER ISSUE LIKE TWRP RECOVERY IS NOT STARTING AS IT SUPPOSED TO:
Again, go to fastboot mood by pressing power + volume down button. Download this vbmeta file. Go to platform tools > cmd > type
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta (space, then drag the vbmeta file and hit enter, then follow step number 3.7
(3 is step number, 7 is the point number under step number 3)
Step Number 04: Install MagiskSTEPS:
1. you should stay in TWRP manu from the last step of STEP NUMBER 3 and your phone is connected with your computer via USB.
2. In your computer, download MAGISK FROM OFFICIAL GITHUB PAGE . Copy the magisk.apk and paste it twice in the same folder, now you have three magisk apk, rename the second one removing the "copy from name and just add .zip in stead of .apk at last. Rename the third one as this: "uninstaller.zip"
3. Now listen carefully, this is very important part of this topic:
your phone has two state: a. encrypted b. decrypted
a. IF ENCRYPTED AND CAN'T BE DECRYPTED THROUGH TWRP, that is TWRP IS NOT ASKING PASSWORD AT THE BEGINNING TO DECRYPT YOUR PHONE, THEN: some china rom's security is so encrypted, LIKE MY MI9SE, THAT TWRP CAN'T DECRYPT IT, EVERYTIME I HAVE TO RESET THE PHONE TO DECRYPT, IN THIS CASE ,YOU CAN'T ACCESS YOUR PHONE'S INTERNAL STORAGE NEITHER FROM TWRP NOR FROM PC (TWRP ACTS AS MTP, MEDIA TRANSFER PROTOCOL, MEANING YOU CAN TRANSFER FILE BETWEEN PHONE AND ANDROID IN RECOVERY MOOD), SO YOU CAN'T ACCESS YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE, YOU CAN'T INSTALL MAGISK. HERE, PENDRIVE WITH OTG COMES HANDY. Disconnect your phone Keep those three files in pendrive and connect it in OTG with your phone. go to twrp > install > select storage at bottom > select pendrive > select magisk.zip > swipe to flash. CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED.
b. IF YOUR PHONE IS DECRYPTED BY TWRP AFTER GIVING PASSWORD:
Copy those three magisk file from your computer and drop it in your phones internal storage. go to twrp > install > select magisk.zip > swipe to flash. CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED.
4. Reboot Your Phone (If your phone is bootlooped, which never happened to anyone I know, still for safety, again go to recovery by holding POWER + VOLUME UP BUTTON. go to twrp > install > select uninstaller.zip > swipe to flash. This will uninstall magisk from your phone and then reboot to system, your phone will reboot normally)
5. A Magisk app will be shown among your apps which is not like magisk logo. Don't touch it, Goto file manager, find those three magisk files, one file is the original magisk.apk file you downloaded, install it normally like any other app.
6. CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR PHONE IS COMPLETELY ROOTED.
Step Number 05: Backing up your PERSIST.IMG (MOST IMPORTANT)STEPS:
You will know from my other threads about what is persist partition of your phone. But let's just back it up now without knowing it. Copy it to your computer, cloud so that you never loose it.
Assuming you still have your phone connected through usb to the computer.
Install TERMUX from playstore or from HERE if you don't have play store.
in termux, type su to obtain root permission. A pop up will be shown to grant root permission, if it doesn't work, leave termux app, go to magisk app, at bottom, you will be 4 options, click the second one, you will see this screen.
grant super user permission for termux from here.
4. again go to termux, type this:
su (hit enter)
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img (hit enter)
5. your persist.img is backed up in your internal storage.
6. you can transfer it to pc manually or
use this process because it is relatively safe, though I never found any difference,
go to platform tools in cmd, type this:
adb pull /sdcard/persist.img D:\
it will take around 10 seconds, you will find the file persist.img in your PC's D drive folder, whatever the name is, the next folder to C drive, okay? Copy the persist.img wherever you want to keep it. I am again saying, it's not mandatory to do it in this way, just do normal copy paste from your phone's internal storage to your PC, it will do the work.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR READING IT ATTENTIVELY, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, AND IF YOU DIDN'T, WHAT CAN I SAY. IT TOOK MORE THAN 30 DAYS TO ACQUIRE ALL THESE KNOWLEDGE AND YOU ARE GETTING IT WITHOUT ANY EFFORT, FREE, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

I am again saying, it's not mandatory to do it in this way, just do normal copy paste from your phone's internal storage to your PC, it will do the work.

have you flashed any rom? or flashed anything? if you haven't, just restart your phn using power button. and if you have flashed anything already, how on earth you did it without unlocking your bootloader?

Hello there, I would like to contribute to this tutorial if you agree
There is a way for people that have encrypted storage and no usb otg pendrive:
Step 4.3:
a-alternative. If encrypted, but no OTG Pendrive at your disposal:
You still can use the adb push command to send your Magisk folder into a decrypted part of your phone’s root folder. You are going to use your phone “/tmp” folder.
“/tmp” folder is suitable for temporary files just as our files (We will not need these files anymore after this tutorial). There is no risk to add files into this folder while it is not encrypted but do not delete any files already present into your /tmp folder!
1.Copy your Magisk folder containing your three Magisk files into the Plateform-tool folder:
2.Then in the cmd execute: adb push [replace_brackets_by_your_Magisk_folder_address_location] /tmp
3.Your Magisk folder should be now copied into your /tmp folder
4.twrp > install > select tmp/magisk.zip > swipe to flash. CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED.
4.5-alternative. (This step only for those that processed through the “a-alternative” step) After rebooting your phone, you might have no chance to access the Magisk folder you’ve pushed earlier into the /tmp folder. However, now you have booted into your MIUI usual OS, you can copy the Magisk folder again into your internal storage using the classical drag and drop thanks to MTP protocol, to continue through this tutorial.
Hope this will help
