Location seems to be working fine as well as wifi auto connect...After 5 houses I had to manually turn off the Wi-Fi because it was still registering...
As soon as I got 4 houses close, auto connect connected and speeds were good...at least my neighbors can get my internet...(just kidding, password protected...lol)

So I've tracked down all of my issues to being our work WiFi sucks really bad. As for location, don't know why but starting all the way over did the trick. As went all the way back to stock and then root, and then flash. Ugh, that was annoying. Working great now though, located me in less than 36ms!!! :good:
To all those involved with building this Rom, thank you very much, and congratulations on a great job. It is running smooth as my bear belly(kidding, abs man here!).:good:

Couldn't help but smile when i saw the boot loader animation. This is awesome! Thank you for all the hard work!

You may need to flash it all together,
BL, AP, and CP (being the TMB Modem) so that matching occurs

Oh well great job thanks Drakey

That's the problem. One rom might be suitable for someone but different for others. Even compare features, every rom bring their own uniqueness. Very subjective. You just have to try them all and see which one suit you best.

Drakey thank you for your contributions in this tiny bl locked community. ; )
Ugh. Your gonna make me switch to KitKat aren't you. Porting all these ROMS. Looks like I'll be reading one of these KK OP's a cpl times this weekend and taking the plunge.
Admittedly I haven't researched this yet but while lurking thru the KK threads I've never seen GAPPS packages mentioned. I'm assuming that has something to do with SafeStrap/KitKat compatibility and flashing mods. Also Theme Engine? No one has to answer these questions I'm sure they've been answered before. I can research it.
I ran KK on my SGS3 for about 6 months. Really hope we see the day soon where we can run Carbon, Liquid, Slim, Validus, Beanstalk etc. Guess we'll have to wait for either and unlocked BL or SafeStrap compatibility with KK. Fingers crossed
Thanks again Drakey. Appreciate what you do for us here.
Wow!
Wow Drakey.....you are the 9th wonder of the world and the 1st wonder of the android development world! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We should petition for your own subforum. Drake's development thread
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Ya lol. I'm asking the Dev of echoe ROM if i can port his ROM.
I would of already got rid of this Att Note 3 if it wasn't for Drakey.....We've gone from not flashing at all to his first method of installing ROM's without flashing, to what we have now. A bunch of ROMs to choose from. This is a lot of fun....Once Hashcode updates SS to work with KitKat, we will be all set. I don't believe we will ever see an unlocked bootloader for this phone or any future Att phones. Its just what it is. I will be buying T-Mobile phones going forward and flashing Att firmwares. Thanks Drakey!!!!! You D MAN

Other than WiFi Calling and maybe VoLTE, is there a quick list of differences b/t this and GE? I tried comparing OP's but can't tell. I'm on AT&T so neither of those 2 mean anything to me..... yet.
Thanks for any help!

I clean flashed this and have no APN's.
Giving this a test run and things I've noticed so far:
-Wi-Fi Calling works great with NH5 modem
-Installed Slim version with Chrome, Xposed, and S-Health/Private Mode (No issues or hang-ups)
-ROM scrolling speed/animation speed is very smooth and responsive
-Wanam Xposed installed by default is a nice touch
-SFinder and Quick Connect buttons removed is a welcomed mod
Feels like a fully featured build and clocking in at 1.08GB in the system partition. Not bad at all.
Only real con for my install was that the option for XSecureStorage was a tad confusing. There were two options: Enabled and Disabled and from what I know about the command in order for S-Health to work the build.prop has to state "ro.secure.storage=false" and so my assumption was that I needed to choose False during setup. However, I chose enable it and I saw that the Xposed module was added and that the build.prop change was set to false. Anyway, just wanted to comment and say that option in Aroma was the only confusing portion.
Great and very smooth ROM so far. I've had bad luck in the past using Wanam with my device, however I've never run it in the system partition so maybe that is the secret. I'm going to give this thing a few days and see how it works with my daily usage. Always great to see another Dev making ROMs. Thanks for giving us some extra options! :good:

I have one APN, which is the one I normally use and it is the "T-Mobile US LTE (fast.t-mobile.com)" so I cannot duplicate your issue. I flashed the NH5 version for T-Mobile and it looks like he removed all the extra ones to cut down on unnecessary bloat. Are you using a 900T?
Edit: I verified this by going to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Are you APNs not listed in the apps you are trying to use, Hangouts for example, or are they totally absent from the ROM?

Same recovery I used and I chose KT's kernel for the install. Follow this from the OP:
Code:
"WHEN POSTING ISSUES.. STATE WHAT MODS U HAVE USED AND WHAT KERNEL
YOUR USING AND WHAT CARRIER YOU USE!.. SKIP THAT AND I SKIP UR POST!!"
And you should probably include the options you chose during install just in case he needs to try to duplicate it. And in the mean time you can manually add the APN using the information found HERE if you like. Could have been a bad flash or bad download so don't rule those out either. Don't worry though, missing APNs are an easy fix.

nice job man!!!
the buildprop trick will not help private mode .. but i was thinking of doing this .. in aroma have xposed, wanan xposed and his xsecurestorage module all install at once.. this way it wont confuse users..
again nice job with the feedback

[ROOT][SNAPDRAGON] SamFAIL for Galaxy Note8[V3]

As of 8/28/18 SamFAIL is officially depreciated. There is no new root method at this time and i will not be helping find another one. Bootloader V3 is the final version of SamFAIL for Note8. DO NOT PM ME ASKING FOR HELP!!!
Introducing:
SamFAIL!
Root for the USA Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8! (N950U,N950U1,N950W)
WARNING! The latest Note8 software update(U4XXXX) blocks samFail(All carriers.). DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU WANT ROOT!
SamFAILv3 Has been Released There is an addititonal step in Part 1 for V3 ONLY.
Bootloader check guide(Green can be rooted, Red can not be rooted)
Last 6 of firmware version(X can be different):
U1XXXX=Bootloader V1
U2XXXX or S2XXXX=Bootloader V2
U3XXXX or S3XXXX=Bootloader V3
U4XXXX or S4XXXX=Bootloader V4
U5XXXX or S5XXXX=Bootloader V5
Disclaimer 1: Although this method does not trip the "Knox Flag" you are still taking a risk by rooting your device. We are not responsible for your blazing fast smartphone with root! Let's hope this one doesn't catch on fire!
DISCLAIMER 1.5: THIS IS NOT FOR EXYNOS OR CHINESE MODELS!
First and foremost, SHOUTOUTS!
- @partcyborg for finding the root method!
- @me2151 for testing on Note 8 and facilitating root on the Note 8!
- @elliwigy for... Shenanigans! And thread template
- @jrkruse For the deodexed system!
- @Chainfire He will be missed! (no he is not dead, just retired.)
- Samsung for the amazing phone and leaving rediculous loopholes open for us to root!
Disclaimer 2: The method to root should be pretty straight forward as the hard work has already been done for you. With that being said, you will need to know how to download files from the internet, extract a zip file and to use ODIN. That is basically it! Oh yea, BACK UP YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE AS THIS WILL ERASE IT! PLEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP!
Prerequisites:
- SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar/PIT File Zip (in Post #2)
- SamFAIL Note 8 PART 2 Firmware Zip (also in Post #2)
- Comsey ODIN and Normal ODIN (Found in Post #2 Aswell)(Normal ODIN is just in case)
- Well your Note 8 of course, Need to be by a PC and ready to use Download Mode!
Part 1 Instructions:
IF YOU ARE ON U3(Rev3) bootloader you must Flash SamFAILv3_N8_FIRMWARE first THEN do part 1 THEN part 2 again. This IS a requirement. Not optional. Otherwise for U1 and U2 proceed as normal.
1) Unzip the SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar and PIT File to your PC.
2) Have Comsey ODIN up and ready. Place your Note 8 into Download Mode and Connect to PC
3) In the AP slot, select the Pre-Rooted system.tar.
4) Now go to the PIT tab(Click OK or close on the warning box) and click and navigate to the PIT file you also just downloaded and select it.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5) On the OPTIONS tab, you will select the following: Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time, NAND ERASE ALL, and Re-Partition.
6) Once you have everything in place and the correct options selected, press START.
7) ODIN will say FAIL at the end of the flash and the phone will have rebooted to upload mode saying "Unknow Error". Don't fret however, the system should have still been written!
8) You will have to get the phone back into Download mode( Hold Power, VOL- and bixby together and the phone will reboot to download mode and tell you its in emergency mode. THIS IS NORMAL.) and then proceed to Part 2 Instructions!
Basic ODIN flashing here guys... Not rocket science!
Part 2 Instructions:
1) Download and Extract the SamFAIL Note 8 Part 2 Firmware Zip to your PC
2) Click Reset in Comsey ODIN or close it out and re-open it so it is COMPLETELY cleared out
3) Now select the firmware. BL goes in BL, AP goes in AP, CP goes in CP, dont press start yet!
4) Now, this time we ARE NOT SELECTING A PIT FILE, We should just select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. DO NOT DO NAND ERASE ALL OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.
5) Once you got the partitions in place and the right options selected, Press Start!
7) Once phone boots up, Setup your device as normal and proceed to the SuperSU app. It may ask you to update the SU Binary. Select Normal method and let it do its thing. Follow its instructions then SU should say it was Successful in updating and it needs to reboot(You may have to do it multiple times. I believe its 2 or 3 times then its good) ENJOY SamFAIL ROOT!
DISCLAIMER 3:
* SamFAIL DOES NOT TRIP KNOX
* Boot.img is SECURE which means you MUST use SYSTEM ROOT. (Similar to SamPWND)
* This means that MAGISK DOES NOT WORK
* Which also means SAFETY NET FAILS. So any apps you enjoy that require passing Safety Net will most likely not work while you are rooted with SamFAIL
* Again, similar to SamPWND, this root method uses a factory binary boot.img which is necessary to boot the modified system. THIS MEANS BATTERY ONLY CHARGES TO 80% (Thanks Samsung.)
* SamFAIL DOES NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AND DOES NOT SIM UNLOCK YOUR PHONE.
* This *should* in theory, work for other Snapdragon Models of the Note 8. If you have another model and are successful please post so we can add "support" for other models.
Back to Stock?
- Download the full STOCK firmware of your choice.
- Flash it in ODIN/Comsey ODIN as you would any other time!
- It will take a few reboots for the "custom" splash screen to go away.
[/CODE]
BUGS!:
- Screen sometimes will be bugged out. Fix by turning screen off and back on. Caused by Factory boot files.
- Possibility of Bixby Home crashing.
- SuperSU may ask you to update it multiple times.

As always, the devs have been hard at work recently to bring you root. Donations are definitely NOT REQUIRED but if you feel generous and want to spot the devs a few bucks for their hard work you can donate to this Paypal Address:

DOWNLOADS will be in POST #2
UPDATES will be in POST #3
As always, ENJOY ROOT and thank SamFAIL for making it all possible!

P.S. See why we called it SamFAIL now? Massive fail on Samsungs part.

The exact condition is a Race condition caused by the AOD initilizing. Basially the normal screen turns on in AOD mode. Maybe once or twice a day. It happens when you turn the screen on right before the AOD starts. Hard to get timing consistantly

Disclaimer: Your warranty is now void!! I won't be responsible if you flash this on another device besides the prescribed device mentioned..
Special Notes:
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options, if its not there, you may have to wait for a few days to access that option, some users claim that its within 10 days before this option appears).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.
(Your warranty may be voided. However this may not affect you if your country, European Union for example, forces Samsung to provide hardware warranty regardless of software status.)
More Information from here
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.
(You can flash custom ROMs if you want to keep the OS up-to-date.)
4. It is HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED to purchase any access to any kind of private forums, ROMs or Kernels.

Flashing Instructions
Notes: It may wipe all your data including those in internal storage.
Part 1a - HOW-TO FLASH TWRP (for new devices w/o TWRP yet):
1. In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
2. Go to Settings -> Developer options and enable OEM Unlock option.
3. Download and Install Samsung Mobile Phones Drivers.
- Option 1: Download and Install Smart Switch for PC.
- Option 2: Download and Install standalone driver package.
4. Download and extract Odin (Samsung's Flash Tool) to your computer.
5. Download a .tar image of TWRP.
6. Reboot your device to download mode.
- Hold [VOLUME DOWN] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] for approx. 15 seconds.
- Read the warning carefully.
- If you agree, press [VOLUME UP] to get into Download mode. If you don't agree, STOP.
7. Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot.
8. Connect your phone.
9. Hold [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] on your phone and then press start on Odin.
10. Wait for the phone to reboot. DO NOT release [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] or you may not reboot into TWRP.
Part 1b - HOW-TO FLASH TWRP (for devices that already had an earlier build of TWRP):
1. Download the recovery.img from the download page.
2. Place the downloaded image file on your device's memory (internal or external storage or OTG may do).
3. reboot to TWRP either from your Custom ROM menu or by using the previous method where you hold [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] when your phone is completely OFF.
4. Go to Install->(locate the file you downloaded)->on the bottom part of TWRP menu you will see flash image, go press it->then you can now select the image file->then choose recovery if you are prompted to what partition you are going to flash->swipe to flash->Profit!!
5. It may be best to reboot to recovery once the procedure is done just to check if things went fine. :good:
Part 2 - HOW-TO INITIALIZE TWRP: (for new phones)
1. If you completed Part 1 successfully, you should be in TWRP now. At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
2. Select "Keep /system RO". (Don't swipe right or you may not be able to boot into system if you failed to complete next steps. However, you can swipe right to allow modifications if you are confident that you can complete next steps.)
3. Go to "Wipe" menu of TWRP and you will find "Format Data". Press "Format Data" and type "yes" to continue.
4. Go to "Reboot" menu and Press "Recovery" to reboot TWRP.
5. Download the latest dm-verity and force encryption disabler zip on your computer.
6. Transfer the zip to your phone.
- Option 1: MTP: Connect your phone with computer and just copy the zip to internal storage. (similar to how you transfer files when in system.)
- Option 2: ADB: Connect your phone with computer and run command "adb push /path/to/zip /sdcard/".
- Option 3: External SD: Copy the zip to an external SD and then insert the card to your phone.
7. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
TWRP is initialized and fully functional at this stage. Now you can either reboot into system or root, flash custom ROMs via TWRP.
Part 3 - HOW-TO ROOT:
1. Download the flashable zip.
- Option 1: Magisk
- Option 2: SuperSU (untested)
2. Transfer the zip to your phone.
3. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
Part 3a - HOW-TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS:
1. Download the flashable zip.
2. Transfer the zip to your phone.
3. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
Simple.
Thank you very much for your fine work.
I went to the download site, and the file TWRP-3.2.1.0-greatlte.tar does not seem to work with the latest Odin for some reason.
So I used the recovery.img via the older TWRP on the phone and all good.
Tnx team...got the .img and flashed...reboot in recovery...and working like a charm...realy appreciate the works ??

Yes this is newer upstream (uses android-8.0 branch from Omni) and I will try my best to keep it up-to-date..
I am also looking for kernel testers as I, alone testing my work will be Bias (I do own both S8 and Note8)

You can Either use Odin (I re-uploaded a new Tarball) or just flash the image via an earlier version of TWRP..so far this has no bugs, I tried ADB sideload, backup and restore and had no issues..

Done. Installed using twrp method. Worked fine. Anyway. Thanks
is it necessary to initialize (wipe/format data) when updating over old twrp?

Edit: Tried it a 2nd time and now it was working. The 1st time I flashed the recovery, rebooted into recovery and started the backup. Guess that this was the problem.

You are fine, I had not yet put the info up yet...still editing...lol
Can anyone else please verify that you can use the screen @ 180 degrees ... I asked BF and he wasnt sure about it but on my phone I'm able to use it upside down. Just curious if anyone else is already using this rom and can try.
Rom booted Hella fast
Can't wait to get home and try this!
Just to be clear ... this will or won't work if I'm on a device that has been updated to v3 bootloader , but is then rooted by the newly available root method?
Edit
The reason I ask is that I tried to flash but got into trouble I think because I tried to flash the attached Odin modem files (I'm currently on U3RA1 baseband), but rooted after upgrading to Oreo

You can flash just remove the boot.img by opening zip with winrar and deleting the boot.img...it will take a little time to delete...Then flash the zip...
If you already flashed it and get an error on boot, force download mode and flash your Odin files for 3BRA9
Should boot fine then

But trying to flash the modem you listed won't work correct?
If we are on boatloader v3 can we use a modem from U1?
When you say to flash the 3BRA9 files are you talking about just returning to stock in the case of being unable to boot?
